✓ Mobile Improvement SuggestionThis works pretty well. I’ve tried a few of these types of things and this is the best so far. I would like to suggest making the mobile app capable of using other apps simultaneously. I use flight simulations and the iPad is great for instruments. ✓ Waste of timeI went through all the steps to try to get this thing downloaded I feel so stupid because I spent two hours trying to do it I have to download applications and install things within those applications I find it ridiculous and I can’t even open the software anymore open track is useless waste of money go get some other tracking app.1032267Version: 1.05

✓ Worked for a little whileI went through the setup process and this worked quite well for a day or so. Now whenever a start this I get the error “broken pipe”. I tried to solve this by googling and redoing the setup process but it was not fixed. Luckily, my searching paid off and I found a free alternative to this that I vastly prefer. It uses your webcam, it is called Ai track. It can be a little more jumpy but as it does not use your iPad, your iOS device is now free for other things during your virtual flight, eg looking up charts, virtual panels etc..Yesman12222Version: 1.03

✓ Apartment Router = no go for meTL;DR - by all accounts a great app. Just make sure you can log into your router settings. In-app support is not written for the layman. Dev is responsive. Reddit, as well as the reviews here, are consistently good. I believe this is a good app. However, I could not get it to work, presumably because I don’t have access (log in) to the router here in my apartment (free wifi provided by the complex) to ensure my ports are open. I tried all the troubleshooting steps in the app and couldn’t get it to work, including my PC as a hotspot. I’m a layman when it comes to networking and the in-app help seems to assume the user has advanced (or at least intermediate) knowledge of networking, so there may be solutions I didn’t know to try. The dev was responsive on reddit and did offer his email for support however it’s too late, I’ve requested a refund. I’m not saying don’t buy. I’m saying make sure you have access to your router and/or advanced knowledge of networking..SdmkeVersion: 1.02

✓ Can’t connectTrying to use opentrack in Win10 and getting the no route to host. Been through all setup tutorials and scoured the net for a solution. ✓ Does not work on MacI bought this because it sounded pretty cool. However it does not state anywhere that it is Windows only. You need to download a third party app that only runs on windows to use this app! Being on an Apple based store it should be made clear that this does not work on MacOS. ✓ Just as good as everyone says….Perhaps this is more of a bug report than a review, but I do give John props for creating an easy-to-use alternative to TrackIR. The reason I didn’t give it 5 stars, though, is that even though Smooth Track app appears to support multi-tasking on my iPad Pro (4th Gen, 12.9”), when I bring up another app — either floating on top of SmoothTrack or in the split screen along side it — the inset image in the Smooth Track screen showing my face & X,Y,Z lines freezes up. The rest of the app’s interface seems to still be responsive, but the camera inset. When I close Foreflight (or whatever other app I am running along side it), the inset window returns to normal operation..FlyerInSFVersion: 1.05

✓ Works okay but just a gimmickI've tried AITrack, ViewTracker and SmoothTrack, and this SmoothTrack app is indeed the smoothest... but not by much! Games are still borderline unplayable with it. I guess it's just a limitation of OpenTrack-based projects in general. No matter how much I fiddle with the curves, the settings, etc., there's just no way to make the motion smooth enough, accurate enough and low latency enough to feel natural. I inevitably make myself motion sick, as the viewport judders, jitters, lags, and requires constant re-centering. If you want to pay US$10 for a neat gimmick you'll use once and probably never touch again, go ahead and try it. Otherwise, put that US$10 in your piggy bank instead, and save your money for a real head tracker or VR headset..DoandroidsVersion: 1.05
