Andante - Practice Journal for Positive User Reviews

Great appReally good app, it’s very simple to use and tracks practice well. Worth the upgrade to get to be able to add notes so you can remember what you’ve done every session. Only thing missing is the ability to add subdivisions to the metronome, if they add that it would be perfect.Version: 2.1.5

This app is so underratedI don’t know why people still don’t know this app, it has a lot of potential features a lot of apps don’t. I’m a beginner guitarist and this motivated me a lot to keep practising since I recently quit lessons because of the price. I also bought the premium tool works great! But if there are any tools out there for young guitarists I would like to know it would help me a lot..Version: 1.1.7

Great appGreat practice app, clean and simple user interface, does exactly what I need to do..Version: 1.1.9

Wonderful!I have just paid for the pro version. I didn’t actually need any of the pro features because the free version had EVERYTHING I had been looking for. Just wanted to buy the developer a coffee as thanks! Happy practising!.Version: 1.1.4

Lost data?Has been really good thus far until today, when I was timing a practice which wouldn’t log afterwards, and then I lost all my data after restarting the app again. Bit disappointing.Version: 2.1.3

I love this app!!This is the first time I’ve ever written a review for an app, and I think it’s well-deserved. The app is super easy to use and has a really pretty but simplistic design. With the pandemic and all, little things like this app have definitely helped with my motivation levels. Thank you to the creator for creating such a wonderful tool !!!.Version: 1.1.9

Amazing! This is a really great app! Ever since I downloaded it, I have found myself practicing more than usual. It does a great job of motivating you by showing your practice statistics in a clean and effective way. One suggestion would be to maybe add a tuner in addition to the metronome (and maybe add subdivisions to the metronome?). Keep up the great work.Version: 1.0.2

This is awesome, but I have a questionAmazing app! But I would like to ask, is there a way to manually enter practice session?.Version: 1.1.7

It’s Great! Few recommendations (From a Percussionist)Hi! I LOVE this app and it’s so awesome- my one recommendation would be that you could change the logo of practice sessions. As percussion you can choose drum set, a snare, or a glockenspiel but when you can only have one at a time. We constantly practice on multiple different instruments and equipment and it would be so helpful to be able to change the logo for different practice sessions. I also think adding logos would be cool. A marimba I think would warm a lot of percussionists hearts as that is such a major solo instrument that non-percussionists fail to recognize. Also known as a “big xylophone” a tambourine would be cool, or some other logo to symbolize auxiliary instruments- it may seem minor but would mean a lot to us percussionists, especially is orchestral ones. Love the app! Keep it up..Version: 1.0.2

Love this app!!I’ve been hoping someone would make an app like this for so long!!! I’m a violinist at music college, and this app is helping me so much with my practice. The streak counter and daily practice goal features keep me motivated. The stats page is so interesting - finally I have a visual representation of my practice. I also love that the app has such a clean design and is simple to use, so it doesn’t take any focus away from actually practising. Great app, thank you!.Version: 1.1.4

Really terrific (and underrated) app! This is a really terrific app that is highly underrated. Even if you don’t pay for the full version, there’s more than enough features to track your practice. I use this every day and would highly recommend for musicians of all standards and instruments! Also, the home screen widget on iOS is cool!.Version: 1.1.10

Good Practice ProgramI like this app for practicing my flute. I agree with some of the other reviewers that it would be nice to link to material being practiced. Also, since I own an iPhone and iPad, it would be good to be able to sync the data between the two devices..Version: 1.1.10

PracticeThis app is GREAT! absolutely love it. It somehow made me want to practice and actually get better, for the first time I actually improved and since you can record your practice, you can easily pick up bits you need to practice! Since in comes with a metronome it greats the right rhythm without me having to guess. Great for starting and being professional.Version: 1.1.1

Great app for musicians!Love all the features, especially the BPM and note/mood tracking elements. Great job!.Version: 1.0.1

Pretty decent as a practice journalSince I am an adult pianist and still learning the craft; this is the easiest practice journal app that I have used. This is where also I can put reminders and notes about my practice. Furthermore you can also add what you feel today with your practice. This is an hassle free app..Version: 1.0.2

Almost perfect! There is a lot that I love about this app. It’s great to be able to have multiple profiles to track different areas of your practice. This benefits those working in multiple instruments. It’s simple and pleasant design. I really like the widget functionality so you can quickly start a practice session with a button on your Home Screen! On top of that it’s a very fair price. There are a few reasons why I have given this 4 stars instead of 5. Mainly that there is no section to create a list for practice material that you can link to your practice sessions. It would be more efficient just click desired material from the list to automatically name the practice session. I think having the option to start a session untitled is good too but at the end of the practice session maybe you could choose to name it or select from your predetermined material in a list. Pipe dreams for me would be to then also save data on time spent practicing specific material..Version: 1.1.9

Fantastic! This app is such a good way to practise, and the upgrade at a reasonable price allows you to use so many useful features, like the metronome, tuner, recorder and timer function, all of which have revolutionised my practice..Version: 2.1.5

Great MotivationThis app has been a great help as a beginner violin player. It’s simple but effective in tracking my practice sessions and also motivates me to practice consistently..Version: 1.0.1

Excellent practice appI got this app to help me track my mood and focus during practice and it’s excellent. I use it every day. The £3.99 purchase to add extra features like a tuner, notes and metronome is well worth the money - I have never looked back! Also it’s nice that the app doesn’t collect any data!.Version: 2.0.1

Best practice app I’ve foundI’ve tried other practice apps but this is the only one that has helped me. It records my practice session and then afterwards I can enter my focus and mood which really helps me track how I’m doing. It has a built in recording mic and keeps the recordings so I can hear how I sounded. The journal page is really nice to enter notes of any kind. I never spend money on apps but I like this one so much I’m going to buy pro. Then I’ll be able to make separate profiles to log my progress for violin, piano, and voice. That’s something I haven’t seen on other practice apps . Andante is great..Version: 1.1.10

Great app!Thank you for making this !.Version: 1.0.1

Perfection!!I wasn’t looking for an app like this, but I’m so glad I found it. It’s easy to use, and so helpful. It has everything in one place, which is so convenient. I honestly believe I practice more nowadays because of it, and after only 3 days, I payed the 3.99 for the premium version, and had all my musician friends download it as well. I highly highly recommend..Version: 1.1.7

Just get it! It’s so great! Please get this app. It’s the best practicing app I’ve found! I bought the premium cause it was 4$ so why not. And DANGGGG it’s actually perfect. It’s clean easy to use design thats sleek and modern and it’s just so user friendly! I would love it if they built a tuner into the app that way I wouldn’t have to switch apps when I tune my violin but I’m not complaining it’s so great 10/10.Version: 1.1.8

One thing missingI really like this app and paid for an upgrade; however, there is no way to transfer data between various devices, eg, iPad and iPhone. iCloud sync would be nice... Update! Changed to 5-star due to developer’s reply. Thanks!.Version: 1.0.2

Amazing App!!Hello, saw an ad on Instagram and immediately downloaded the app. I am a violinist too and just wanted to say thank you so much for making this app! It is exactly what I was looking for! Just a few minor suggestions. Is there anyway to rename a folder? And when I naming a practice session, whenever my naming gets too long it cuts of the name and puts ... it was just bothering me a little, and I much prefer seeing the entire name rather than (name....). Big thanks and keep up the amazing work!.Version: 1.1.9

Perfect App for Practicing My Instrument! This app has been great for keeping track of my practice times. It logs everything for me and all I have to do is press a few buttons!.Version: 1.1.10

Best practice journalI’ve gotta say: I’ve tried so many practice apps out there. I’ve tried keeping a pen and paper practice journal. I’ve found that none of them have been particularly helpful. I came across an ad for this app on Instagram and thought to myself, “sure, why not try it?” I was actually really satisfied with the nature of this app and how easy it is to use, and that this is exactly what I’ve been looking for as a musician in college. Kudos to the developer, and thanks for such a great app!.Version: 1.1.7

ImpressiveThe app looks very elegant and useful, just bought it, so it needs a test drive, but first impressions are very good..Version: 1.1.10

Way above the restThis app has everything you could think of. My sister has optimized her practice time based on tracking her mood and focus. She especially loves the streak feature! Thanks Andante, looking forward to more from this developer..Version: 1.1.7

Thank you!Thank you! I love this app soooo much and use it for my practice sessions. I love that it’s simple to use (I used a popular practicing app before and it was expensive and too complicated). This app is so intuitive and is always with me in the practice room. I NEVER write reviews but please never get rid of this app!!.Version: 1.1.9

This app is awesomeThis app is great, I’ve just started to get into practicing again as I’ve found some stuff I’m really enjoying working on, and being able to track the sessions and even record clips in them to see how I’ve improved is really useful. The interface is really clean and the stats page gives you a load of great information. Having streaks really incentivises me to practice, as well as having a widget on the Home Screen! Great app, well done!.Version: 1.0.2

UsefulVery useful for logging practice sessions thank you! I like the journal section where I can keep notes for different pieces. I'm grateful that there are no ads. Really great usability and neat interface. Only request if at all is that practice mood/focus/time can be viewed with an "all time" feature rather than just this year or this month as I noticed (going into 2021) that I can't look at the past year in more detail. Thank you very much!.Version: 1.1.9

Strava for MusiciansThe key to me keeping me practicing during the pandemic. Not only does it motivate me to practice, keeping track of my consistency really makes me feel like I’m making progress. It might not work for everyone, as it really holds you accountable for how much practice you do, but It’s definitely worth a try..Version: 1.1.12

Timer function does not workGreat app. Works fine for Macbook air except the timer function doesn't work. Whatever value you enter, the alarm goes off after one second..Version: 2.1.5

Motivating and great for time managementI love this app and use it to record the time and duration of all of my piano practice sessions and lessons. I use the free version as the basic features are all that I need. It is great and really informative to be able to track and record my sessions. I like being able to collect and review the data, and push myself harder..Version: 1.1.13

Mr MotivationWell designed + great looking app that helps me focus and practice piano on consecutive days. With so many apps being subscriptions these days it is refreshing to be able to pay a small one time fee to unlock the premium features and deff worthwhile. From one iOS engineer to another - hats off to you sir/madam!.Version: 2.1.4

Amazing!!I love this app! Every part of it is so well thought out, and the design is so gorgeous and clean and aesthetically pleasing. This is a great way to keep yourself accountable and track your progress as you practice, I love that there’s even an option to see graphs and input your mood :) i’ve been trying to learn guitar and this will be a great way to stay motivated.Version: 1.0.2

Best app I’ve usedSimple yet functional! No piece tracker, but it can record, keep notes and has a metronome. Great for tracking my practice, and flexible for any instrument..Version: 2.1.5

Just what I was looking forA few years back I was using an app similar to this one. It motivated me to practice a lot more because it was easy to visualize how well I had been doing using the graphs. The developer of that app stopped updating it, so at a certain point I was no longer able to use it. Ever since, I just haven’t practiced as much, so I’ve been searching for another app that could help me in the same way. The main problem with other practice apps I have seen is that they are usually way too complicated, which is the opposite of what I need to facilitate my practicing. I don’t need an app that requires me to plan out each practice session in advance. I want to be able to sit down, press start on a timer, and just go for it. Thankfully, with Andante I can do that as well as edit or add sessions when I forget to start a timer. The other main drawback to most other apps is that they are on a monthly subscription, which we all have too much of in our lives already. We really just need a simple, affordable option, and this is it. I just paid the small fee for the pro version, because I am excited to be able to have multiple profiles since I am a multi-instrumentalist. There is a function to be able to rate your mood and focus for each practice session, which I wish I could turn off because it’s not helpful to me, but that’s a small complaint because it’s not too painful to quickly rate each one. The one main thing that I miss from the older app, is that I could designate a category for each practice session, such as scales, sight reading, or a particular genre of music, and switch from one to another within the same session. Each genre could also be subdivided into particular pieces of music. When I would look at a graph of my practice sessions over a period of time, the bar for each day would be divided into multiple colors representing the various types of things I practiced. I realize I was praising Andante for it’s simplicity, and now I am wishing it had this complicated feature. I’d rather it stay simple then become too convoluted, but if there was a way to color code practice sessions according to types of practice, I think that would be a good addition. Thanks so much for making this app – I have seriously been looking for something like it for a few years!.Version: 1.1.10

Crazy helpfulI’ve been using this app for a little while now and it is SO helpful. I think every classical musician especially should have this. It helps me organize my thoughts and have way more efficient practice sessions. It boosts my esteem and the app is brilliantly made. No problems whatsoever..Version: 1.1.9

Amazing App!!Very well made! I had been searching for an app to help me with my practice. Found other ones not as practical to use or honestly just didn’t have a nice look to them. Andante however is perfect! Very easy to use and I use it everyday. All of my notes are easily accessible and can track my progress over a period of time. Can’t think of anything I would change at the moment..Version: 1.1.7

Best Practice AppThis is by far the best music practice app on the App Store and maybe one of the best mindfulness apps as well. It’s helped me stay focused, track my progress, and learn to enjoy my playing more than ever. It’s a must have for anyone who wants to get hone their craft either to have fun or take their art extremely seriously..Version: 1.0

Great appI’m learning violin, and Andante has helped me to be more focused with my practice. I really like the streak feature, as it motivates me to practice..Version: 1.0.2

Best practice app ever.I love this app so much, AND ITS A WIDGET.Version: 1.1.8

Highly recommend! This app is fantastic! It has everything I need and nothing more, and is very easy to use. Highly recommend!.Version: 1.1.7

Beautifully DesignedAn uncluttered crisp interface and a marvellous simplicity of function. I have tried most Practice Logs and settled very happily with this one. Thank you..Version: 1.1.7

Great AppThis is a very easy to use app with all functions needed to keep an informative practice log on a daily basis. I like the fact that it allows for multiple practices per day, as sometimes it’s necessary to do short bursts of practice. I bought the premium version after a few days and I also recommended it to students to use. With this students, parents, and teacher can all stay in the loop..Version: 1.1.9

Really Great! This app is perfect for virtual lessons!.Version: 1.1.10

It’s ok.I downloaded this based on a recommendation. For what it is it’s fine. But I was expecting to be able to assign time to different activities of my practice. Had this been a part of the app it would be top notch..Version: 2.2.3

Every Musician Needs ItPerfect app, super minimalistic and sleek, no distractions. Easy to navigate and log your practice. The only thing I’d ask is a way to scribble notation or have a notepad type feature, would be great for drummers who want to keep stickings and notation within the app..Version: 2.1.5

Great appSimple and effective for managing and planning practice routines. I really like that there is a record function built directly into the app..Version: 1.0.2

Seems brilliantI’ve never found a convenient way to plan and to map out my daily practice until I discovered this app. To be able to make notes, record, use a metronome and receive stats is a winner!.Version: 2.1.3

Great organising tool for ADHDRecommended this as couldn’t structure practice, remember what I’d done, find the metronome, recorder etc. Made things loads more efficient, simple and easy to use. Also nice to see it’s made by a music student!.Version: 2.0.0

Helped fix my procrastinationAs a cellist, this really helped me stick to a practice schedule. Seeing the days I practiced and what I did personally motivated me and stay on top of everything!! Super great app.Version: 1.1.10

ReviewReally good app. I’ve had no problems with it so far, it does exactly what it says and helps me keep on top of my practise.Version: 2.2.3

Wow. I cannot explain this app. This is the best app a musician could ever dream of! I cannot say enough ! Try it out for yourself to see what yourself.Version: 1.1.3

Most helpful!I find this app helpful and encouraging. It’s so much easier than writing in a practice log, As long as I remember to start it. I’m only a preparatory level but I can really keep tabs on what I’m doing for my online course. It took a few days to work out how I was going to use it but I highly recommend it to other beginners.Version: 2.2.4

Great AppWow! This app is amazing and is helping me a lot in my practice sessions and it’s a good incentive and a great way to go. Thank you..Version: 1.0

Best practicing app everIt’s simple and clean and has everything you need. Thank you to the creators and I wish everyone luck on their musical journeys..Version: 1.0.2

AmazingAs a musician recovering from an injury, this app is great for me to see how long I’ve been practicing and track my pain. If I have hand pain, it’s easy to see why and good to show doctors. Thank you so much for this app!.Version: 1.1.3

It’s nice!!I’ve tried a few practice apps and were satisfied with them. I like this one best because there’s not any added things I don’t need, like music or metronomes. I went ahead and paid the $3.99 for the full bundle because I found the stats and calendar to be very useful. The ONLY reason I didn’t give it a 5 star rating is because I would like to be able to set daily reminders within the app. Sometimes life and tasks become overwhelming and I let the time slip away and forget to practice. I think having a reminder within the app would make me feel like I’m being held accountable a little more. If at some point a reminder setting is incorporated, I will gladly re-review it. Other than that, I’m really diggin this app! Download it and she’ll out the $3.99 for the full version and you will not be disappointed!! UPDATE: Practice Reminders have been implemented, so, as I said I would, I am now giving it a 5 star rating!! You can set reminders for 1 day, or up to 7 days! Awesome job y’all!! Thank you!.Version: 1.1.4
