Mela - Recipe Manager for Positive User Reviews

Amazing app!If you are looking for a recipe organizer or want to get more into cooking, this app is perfect. It reminds me of the classic great apps back when the App Store was new and exciting. One purchase and you get a great product! Buy!.Version: 1.3.1

BEST recipe organizer, no comparisonMela is. . . 1. Beautiful all around 2. Truly well-thought throughout 3. Functional without glitches Mela has. . . 1. Most useful “Most recent” feature 2. “Browser” which finds and downloads recipes fast 3. Awesome “Calendar” and “calendar notes” 4. Most useful “Want to cook” feature 5. Import recipes smoothly 6. Scan recipes from books 7. Three different fonts 8. “Feeds” download recipes from various websites I like! I have used many recipes apps including Paprika. Nothing is like Mela. This is the best, top-notch, most useful, perfectly functional recipe app - hands down. Thank you, developer!.Version: 2.2.1

Such an Excellent AppIf I could give this 100 stars I would. My friends are tired of me telling them how excellent this app is. The layout, the ease of use, the way you can import from websites or do an OCR scan of a photo, the “cook” mode with highlighted recipe on one side and ingredients on the other, the ability to share with family and friends… it’s all fantastic. I imported almost 100 recipes from my recipe binders the first weekend I had it, just scanning while I was watching tv. Something I’ve been meaning to do for years but I assumed it would take too much time. And now I have a recipe book for my kids! The only feature request I can think of is to allow landscape mode on the iPhone the same way it looks on iPad: with the recipe on the left and ingredients on the right (phone only shows recipe right now). But that’s a minor complaint because we always use our iPads for cooking anyway..Version: 2.1.2

Simply the BestThis app does it all. Love the family sharing and ease of importing and exporting recipes. We make our own categories and just add the missing ingredients into reminders- this is brilliant!.Version: 2.2.1

Beautiful + seamlessWow, what fun to use! Also, the fact I can share and import recipes right from the web is absolutely incredible..Version: 1.1.1

Worthwhile Recipe AppI just got the app today and immediately began importing my recipes. The scan option works pretty decent, love the import option from websites, and love being able to assign categories. The only complaint I have so far is I haven’t been able to import any of my pdf file recipes. The message I get when trying says “no recipe found”. But for the cost, it’s still worth having especially since when I travel to help care for my Mom I can take my favorite recipes along that I may cook without all the hassle. Wish I understood why the pdf import function doesn’t work with either my Google drive or Dropbox, which is where I have almost all my electronic recipes currently stored..Version: 2.2.3

Almost perfectOverall a really well-designed app. Feels super simple compared to others like Paprika, which can feel overstuffed with features. All it needs is a better grocery list. Items are not categorized (i.e. Produce, Dairy, etc.), they’re just thrown into a chaotic master list, which means that when I go shopping, I’m constantly flicking up and down the list to find the things in whatever section of the store I’m in..Version: 2.2.3

Gorgeous and BrilliantI have tried many recipe apps over many years, so I can speak with some credibility when I say you should buy this app for it’s elegance, beauty, and extremely clever features. Kudos to the developer for creating such a standout app in a crowded app category..Version: 1.2.3

Awesome appWorks incredibly well with the sites I’ve tried and most importantly, it removes a LOT of resistance to making recipes for me. Having everything in one in place in a straightforward format with all of excess junk removed is soooo helpful. Thanks for making this app!.Version: 1.3.1

Beautiful native appThis is a beautiful native iOS app with all the functionality I’ve been looking for including amazingly accurate importing of recipes (including share sheet extension) and full recipe library syncing via iCloud which works flawlessly. 5 stars.Version: 1.2

Clean and effective with good formatting and nice featuresNo ads, no in app purchases, exactly what I want from a tool like this. Recipes are easy to import from my phone and computer. Editing or creating my own is also simple and well done with intuitive organization of recipe sections and a good recipe skeleton without too much boilerplate. I also love that I can share html files so iMessage recipe sharing can share a link that has the organization of the app without requiring them to have the app as well. Super nice that I can share my recipes outside of the platform like that. One feature I would love to see is a dedicated way to rate a recipe that I’ve cooked. The notes section and title work well enough but it gets a bit messy and I’d love to be able to filter or sort by my ratings. There is an option to favorite recipes which I guess is the current decision for this but I think a star system or something would better solve this for me..Version: 2.3.1

Beautifully simpleBeautiful recipe app which syncs using iCloud and offers the ability to share your library with others. Brilliant..Version: 2.0

In my personal top 10 apps everI use this all the time, and recommend it to my friends who like to cook. One (small) shortcoming is that sometimes I want to list my recipes WITHOUT certain ingredients. For example let's say a meat-eating friend with an egg & dairy allergy is coming over for dinner, then I'd like to search for recipes WITH "chicken", "beef", "lamb", ... and WITHOUT "milk", "cream", "cheese"(i.e. dairy). Suggestion: Allow filtering by both the PRESENCE _and_ the ABSENCE of ingredients. If that makes the UI too complicated, then filtering by EITHER absence OR presence would still be an improvement..Version: 2.3.1

Finally the recipe manager I was looking forI finally found the app I was looking for. Mela allowed me to combine recipes that used to be spread across four different apps. I can now access all those recipes in one place with a consistent, clean and modern interface. I used to store recipes in Trello, Instapaper, and the NYT cooking and How to Cook Everything apps. Mela made it incredibly easy to import all those recipes, and I was completely done in only a couple hours. Importing web-based recipes via the built in browser was seamless (including NYT cooking). And even for my non-web based How to Cook Everything recipes, I was impressed by the efficient parsing that easily recognized pasted lists of ingredients and steps, and automatically formatted those sections. The RSS-based feed is just icing on the cake, and I look forward to discovering new recipes from a variety of sources within the app. I expected a lot from the developer of Reeder (which I have used every day for countless years) and I was not disappointed. Highly recommended to anyone looking to consolidate and access their recipes in a single and modern app..Version: 1.0

Fantastic app! Two suggestionsI adore this app and had previously used Paprika. This is much better for my calendar integration, allowing me to share meal plans with my family. I do have two suggestions: 1. Improve the grocery list. Try to group similar items whenever possible, which Paprika was able to do much better. Or, consider having an internal grocery list similar to Paprika. This is one area that I believe paprika did much better than this app. It can be kind of a nuisance. I think this is a critical improvement! 2. Long term, consider Apple HealthKit integration. If you plan to eat a meal on your calendar, the calories can be added to dietary intake after the meal is complete. We already have nutrition facts, so this should be straightforward to add. This is less critical than the above suggestion though..Version: 1.5.1

Seriously impressiveIncredibly useful app thoughtfully designed and integrated into iOS. One of those apps that once you use it, you’ll never go back. Within an evening I had digitised my entire recipe collection, and could meal plan my next few weeks, whilst adding all the needed ingredients to my Reminders app. My only notes would be to add folders and filters to the All screen, I’d loved to be able to create shortcuts into different categories e.g. Stir Frys or pin certain sources to the front page..Version: 1.5.1

The best recipe manager I’ve seenWorks wonderfully well and is updated regularly. Pulling recipes in from the web and having them look and work like each other feels like magic..Version: 2.0

Essential recipe appThis app is nearly perfect. I love it’s recipe parsing browser— there are lots of great recipes on the Internet, but most of them are hidden behind ads, pop-ups and obnoxiously long stories. Mela strips all the junk away to give you the recipe—ingredients, servings, even nutrition info! BRILLIANT! The presentation is excellent and my only feature request would be to include the ingredient quantities during the recipe instructions so I don’t have to keep scrolling back to the ingredients list as I cook..Version: 2.2

The best app aroundApplications those days are getting worse, but this one is simply the best I use since a long time. No monthly subscriptions is too me a good idea. I buy the iOS and Mac version. I use it everyday and importing recipes is working 100% of the time. Adding items to the reminder app is a good addition. Still importing all my stuff gradually. iCloud sync is really welcomed too..Version: 2.2.2

Really well done appI have been using this app for a few weeks, and love the functionality. Importing apps from blogs and websites is pretty much flawless. I thought that was great, then I tried the scan recipe from a cookbook function and was blown away. It was almost perfect - a couple of minor things I had to edit - and the only thing that really confused it was my hand-written note. Very well done! I look forward to future upgrades..Version: 1.4

A beautiful startAbsolutely beautiful recipe app that really makes the most of iOS, you won’t regret your purchase. I’d love to see some Improvements around scaling recipes to give more flexibility and the groceries list is perhaps too simple when you’re completing a big shop..Version: 1.1.1

BeautifulI cannot rate this all highly enough. Beautiful design, website parsing works perfectly, and you get a well formatted recipe out of it. This and Reeder are two of my favourite apps..Version: 2.3.1

Wonderful, Aside from BrowsingMela has been the best recipe manager I've used of a few. The interface is clean, without a bunch of multi-step fatigue when choosing recipes. The real shine for Mela is the cooking view. On Mac and iPad you have a persistent pane with your ingredients, and a clear view of directions. You can also add multiple timers on the same screen! Other recipe managers I've used aren't any better than viewing a site, so I appreciate Mela being innovative. If I could change anything about Mela, it would be to allow support for Safari extensions. I don't know whether this is possible, but cooking websites have an aggravating amount of ads and other intrusive data tracking practices. Mela doesn't collect any information, and it would be wonderful if the browser followed the same privacy rules. If I want to support a cooking site I buy their cookbook, online ads are a cancer..Version: 2.0

Clean, Clear, and VersatileThis is a brilliant databasing system for our recipes!! It has completely changed how my partner and I meal prep and grocery shop for the better. Plus with family sharing, all of my Mom’s recipes are here for safe keeping and sharing. Awesome stuff!.Version: 2.2.1

A beautiful app with only one issueAfter many years of trying all the top recipe managers, I think Mela is absolutely the best. It only has one issue holding it back from perfection, and I'm hopeful the developer will resolve this someday. When importing recipes (regardless of which website) more often than not the fields for Prep Time and Cooking Time do not populate and have to be filled manually. I've tried importing the same recipes using three other highly-rated recipe managers and these fields fill just fine, so it is not a problem with the websites. If you can overlook this, Mela has an absolutely gorgeous UI and a UX that addresses everything you could expect in managing, displaying and printing recipes..Version: 2.3.1

Love the calendar featuresReally awesome app, great to share plans in the household and plan grocery trips.Version: 2.2.2

Beautifully designed and great functionalityThis app is so good. I’m using Mela to build a catalog of cocktail recipes. The design is great and importing recipes from the web feels like magic and gets addictive. One thing I’d like is the ability to delete unused categories and it’d be great to be able to use ChatGPT to create descriptions for my own entries..Version: 2.2.2

AwesomeSuperbly designed app. Best I’ve found so far for managing recipes. Also, very much appreciate it not being a subscription..Version: 2.0

FantasticIt’s so easy and a smart way to find, store, and manage recipes, groceries, and meal planning. It’s just a great app. Simple but powerful. Brilliantly laid out. Can’t say enough good about it. After about 1 hour of playing around with it, I happily paid the $5 and starting using it to plan my families dinners..Version: 2.2.1

Amazing Recipe AppI love the app and have premium on iOS and macOS. I only have one nitpick. On iOS, with king recipes typing becomes incredibly slow and unresponsive..Version: 2.2.1

Beautiful and functionalThis is exactly the recipe app I've been looking for. My only ask relates to the Mac version—it really begs for a Safari extension. Otherwise, both apps are well worth the investment. Addendum: Categories UI needs a bit of work. Too many taps to assign multiple categories. The Good Links app nails this..Version: 1.1.1

Excellent appI love the app but wish the search field was sticky and stayed at the top of the screen. Scrolling all the way to the top of my library is painful. A bit more fine tuning to the scaling feature would be useful too - I often want to adjust a recipe to maximise a single ingredient that I may have and find it difficult with Mela.Version: 2.3.1

Eliminates the pain of using online recipesI love how mela lets me find, read and save recipes without having to scroll through the some random food blogger’s entire life story interspersed with hundreds of buggy ads. Just wish it would automatically convert units when it extracts recipes !.Version: 2.3.1

App of the yearI’ve never been inclined to write reviews for anything, especially not an app, but I love Mela so much that I had to. TikTok put me onto this app and I use it daily. I’ve transferred all my favorite recipes into it so they are always at my fingertips and I’m not having to comb through websites or Pinterest or screenshots while at the grocery store or trying to cook. I’ve told all my friends about this app and wish I had had this sooner!.Version: 2.2.2

Leveling up my life with MelaThe ability to create a library of recipes that my wife and I love has made meal planning SO much easier/more enjoyable. Add the ability to quickly add groceries to a shared reminder list and I can confidently say I’ve reached the next tier of adulthood. Thanks Mela, for making me a better adult.Version: 2.2

Astonishingly Good.Having tried every single recipe app, this is by far the simplest and most usable recipe app ever. I’ve been using it for around a year, and as it’s so good I thought it deserved a review. Perfect..Version: 2.2.2

What I’ve been looking for!I never write reviews, but felt compelled because this is such a good app! I often find apps to be really disappointing. So much potential, and then missing important functionality. Not this one! I’m delighted with how simple and pretty it is, how I can collaborate in the app with my husband, add my own recipes, recipes from books, as well as importing seamlessly from browsers. There’s a great tagging system you can create to categorize recipes, plus a grocery list that syncs with the Reminders app. Overall, I’m so happy to finally collect all my recipes for easier meal planning!.Version: 2.3.1

Just beautifulSo well designed that you will want to cook more just so you can use it. Simple, elegant and super easy to use. Would love to be able to share recipes with my wife but i’ve heard that’s coming soon so all good there. Just keep up the great work..Version: 1.1.1

Been waiting for this oneI have tried a half dozen other apps. I shelled out decent cash for them, too. When I found Mela, I dropped them all and consolidated on this one. Finally: iCloud sync—other apps don’t need my recipes and grocery lists on their servers, simple tagging—no need for layers organization systems, clean design—no clunky interface. It’s a keeper. Thanks..Version: 1.0

Best recipe app I’ve used so far! This has been the best recipe/grocery app I have used. The UI is beautifully simple and easy to navigate. The recipe import features work great, are super clean, easy to read, and well organized. I can pull just about any recipe from the web. The grocery features are great, too. Adding groceries from a recipe is super simple, and it even translates to my Reminders app grocery list. I definitely recommend giving this a try. It’s worth the couple bucks..Version: 1.1.1

A KISS AppThis feels like a native apple app. It syncs with your cal for meal plans and your reminders list for groceries. It’s got a built in browser that can scan for recipes. It’s simple yet powerful. This isn’t the first app I tried using to manage my recipes either! But I feel like it may be the last. Plus I think it’s got a super romantic origin story - IYKYK..Version: 2.2.2

AmazingI can’t believe how good this app is. The recipe clipping feature works incredibly well, the export options (including pleasingly-rendered PDFs!!!) are super convenient, and the integration with Reminders for grocery items is perfect. Every time I open the app I’m reminded how great it is and I often discover a new helpful feature that I had missed previously. So so good..Version: 1.1.1

PhenomenalThere are only a couple of truly good iOS recipe managers. And then there's Mela, which is phenomenal and, above all, remarkably intuitive. Out of all the iOS recipe apps I have used Mela is the easiest to navigate, organize and cook with. iCloud sync with multiple device just works with out hassle. Ingredients can be sent right to a Reminders grocery list. Recipes can be easily added to the calendar. (Oh yeah, that's what I shopped for to cook on Saturday!) Lastly. Check your current recipe manager. How much data is collected by it? That can be eye-opening. Mela collects no data to be analyzed / resold. NONE. Can't recommend Mela enough. A solid, no fuss, recipe app..Version: 2.0.2

Beautiful and functionalLove it, it’s my default recipe book now, I use it for everything I cook. I’m even keeping coffee techniques and cocktail recipes in here, all easy to filter with the tags. As you’d expect from the developer the parser is excellent. My collection is growing from websites as you’d expect but scanning cookbooks is fast and surprisingly accurate. Sharing was a huge addition. It’s now the family recipe book, no more asking someone to message over a link to check Ingredients when shopping a few taps and everything goes straight to the shopping list we were already using in Reminders. I wasn’t sure I needed an app for this, a collection of links and photos in Notes had been working fine but I’ve been proven completely wrong. I’m using the app every day at this point just because even if I don’t plan on cooking something a second time adding things is so easy and using the app is just a better experience than any recipe blog/site I’ve come across. It’s not flashy but disabling auto-lock has been an absolute killer feature, it’s just so handy. Very well done!.Version: 1.2.2

Almost perfectAfter quite a lot of research, I landed on Mela about a year ago. Now, I consider it indispensable for reasons you see in others’ reviews: ease of use, layout, the powerful ability to scoop just the needed bits from wordy, ad-filled recipe web pages. It’s truly remarkable that way. One thing that mars the overall experience, however, is that it’s clunky to navigate. For example, it takes a lot of extra touches/clicks to go from recipes in one category to those in another. A simple pop-up list would help simplify navigation. Similarly, I don’t know how many times I’ve searched for a known recipe in my collection and found nothing, only to realize that my search was confined to the category I didn’t realize I was in; make searches global, and one of the few frustration points would be immediately gone. Small but meaningful improvements like these could make an very good experience truly marvelous..Version: 2.2

Incredible.Incredible app that does a fantastic job at extracting the correct information from websites and presenting beautifully. I only have two small gripes. As far as I can tell there is no option to set a default serving size and unit of measurement when viewing recipes. It would be great if all measurements could default to metric for me since most websites I get recipes from are American, while I think in metric. In the same vein, it would be nice if when converted to metric it would perhaps add brackets beside measurements in tbsp and tsp to also give these in grams. The other gripe is that the action in the share sheet seems broken for me. It never appears and I have tried to add it. Even with these issues the app is great to use..Version: 1.5.1

Awesome native recipe and meal planning applicationMy key needs are to have somewhere the whole family can go for recipes and meal plans. In my quest I’ve tried a number of different applications for maintaining recipes, shopping lists and meal plans with various degrees of success. These have included iOS & Mac apps as well as self-hosted web-based apps. All of them so far have introduced too much friction or, let’s face it, weren’t a joy to use. Whilst looking at the Twitter fees for the @reederapp, I stumbled on Mela by the some developer. How have I missed this app! It is so easy to use and was able to import my existing recipes from Paprika as well as from websites. I’m loving the integration with iCloud calendars and reminders (which means I can use it with the Groceries app). The recipe sharing also works faultlessly. Well done Silvio - awesome work as always!.Version: 1.6.2

Great app!The dynamic island doesn’t work while the app is open though which makes putting phone calls down kind of annoying. If you fix that it’s 5 stars from me!.Version: 2.2.2

Where have you been all my life?I'm amazed it took me so long to find this app. I've been looking for way to consolidate disparate bookmarked recipes, scribbled notes from my mom, and years of printed, stained, and torn recipes in dirty scrapbooks and Mela does it superbly and effortlessly. It's ability to distill recipes into their basic parts and display them elegantly and efficiently is superb. The addition of the RSS reader is the cherry on top. All of my favorite recipe sites show up in the same well organized place and adding a recipe to my collection is a simple press of a button..Version: 1.4.3

VersatileIt’s a phenomenal app for saving all kinds of recipes. First I wasn’t sure if it was fit for cocktail recipes, but it turned out to be perfect for this task. I only wish that app could recognize ‘barspoon’ as a measure category in order to highlight it. I have to use ‘teaspoon’ for now. Otherwise I’m very happy with the app and its tagging capabilities which are indispensable for searching through cocktail recipes..Version: 1.1.1

Amazing AppThis is the best app I have ever used hands down. It understands what the common pain points are of people trying to compile recipes in a modern fashion from all their different sources (web, cookbooks, posts) and is extremely adept at handling and importing recipes from different sources. The app is a breeze to use. Well worth the trivial amount of money. You will almost never have to type anything in this app which saves you a ton of time..Version: 1.2.4

Perfect recipe management app!I don’t often leave reviews but this app is AMAZING!! I used Paprika for years but always felt the interface was somewhat dated and I thought the MacOS cost was a little too high. The cost of Mela is really reasonable and the functionality is amazing..Version: 2.2.2

One of most-used appsI use this app daily and I don’t exaggerate when I say it’s been a total game-changer. I’ve gone from an endless set of notes of recipes on my phone/bits of paper/cook books to just having everything in one app. It’s so much easier trying to meal plan for my family. So easy to use and the notes section is so handy. The recipe scanning tool works really well. My only request is for a rating/stars system for the recipes but now I’m just being spoilt!.Version: 2.3.1

So good, even my 76yo dad likes itBeautiful app with almost every feature I was looking for, for less money than every good competitor that I found. And it’s so easy even my dad can use it comfortably and enjoys it! The only thing I wish it had was a way to assign meals to a person, as we rotate who cooks in my household. But I know that’s a pretty niche feature, which is why literally no app I’ve found has it! We just use the notes field for now in the meal plan..Version: 2.1.1

Great but…Great app but it desperately needs quick access to search function rather than having to manually scroll back to the top of the list. We have several hundred recipes so is currently a very painful process!.Version: 2.3.1

Best recipe app around! This recipe manager is by far the best I’ve used. It’s a super clean design and makes it easy to read recipes while cooking. It’s worth the money for the iOS apps and syncs well if you decide to pay for the Mac app (I think both are worth having). The feeds feature is really fun to use to discover new recipes with little effort or just to gain some inspiration. iCloud sync and grocery list integrations both work perfectly for sharing with others! I’d love to see a few additional features in the next updates. Linking recipes inside of recipes, another section to list what cooking equipment is needed, and more styling support for sub-headings in recipes (especially for baking where there’s usually multiple sub-recipes and dry/wet ingredients need to be prepared separately)..Version: 1.2.4

Needs way to save links to recipes it can’t scrapeA few recipes I have tried to import via the web simply will not automatically import the actual recipe (sometimes it gets the ingredient list but can’t see the directions. I know web scraping isn’t an exact science and manually retyping every single step on an iPhone is a pain, but maybe having an option to keep web bookmarks with the other recipes for now would be nice..Version: 1.0.1

Best app for storing recipesI need clear, easy to follow, recipes. This app has been a game changer for me. There’s so many ways to tweak the recipe and everything is simple. I’ve imported from online, scanned recipes I’ve been keeping on paper, and entered my own. Thank you for making this app and making my life easier for cooking..Version: 2.2

Just what I was looking for…I’ve been a longtime fan of the app Reeder by the same developer and when I found out he had released this recipe storing app I was quite excited. There’s a lot of recipe apps out there but none come close to the beautiful design aesthetics of ‘Mela’. You can add a receipe manually from scratch by completing simple fields of data, add a photo too or you can import a receipe from a website by using the Mela share extension. It also has a built in Grocery list! Fantastic app!.Version: 1.0.4

AmazingExactly what I’ve been looking for. Beautiful design. Smooth functionality. I’ve been really impressed with how well it imports from sites..Version: 1.0.1

Game changerI’ve tried out a bunch of recipe apps, and this one really crushes the competition. The ability to subscribe to the RSS feeds of cooking blogs and browse an automatically-refreshing feed of neatly formatted recipes without all the distracting bloat that usually fills recipe blogs is a feature I didn’t know I needed. Props to the developer! I’ll definitely be buying the desktop app as well!.Version: 1.0

Wow!This has everything I wanted from a recipe app (and more!!) :D.Version: 2.1.3

Pretty goodIt helps me to manage all my favourite recipes in one place. The parser works magically, very handy to add new recipes. Searching is case sensitive on my iPhone 14 Pro, not sure whether it’s intentional..Version: 1.6.3

Great way to build your grocery listThis makes it easy to share recipes in a common place for my household and quickly build grocery lists. One enhancement I would like to see is a way to easily deduplicate and sum the total count of the same ingredient added from different recipes..Version: 1.2.3

One stop shopLet’s start with: How many difference places do you go to find a recipe you liked or saw and saved before? Like let’s look at the browsers favorite, or maybe it was saved in a different browser? Or maybe it was in an app? Oh no right it was in this book my aunt gave me. Well! This app is fantastic because you can easily import the recipe from websites and tou can turn your recipe book pages into a digital recipe really easily. From the website it will recognize a recipe and take off all that blogger life story to just keep the stuff tou actually went on the page to get and make it so easy to add to your repertoire of saved recipe that you may or may not ever make. But at least you’ll know where to find it. And adding a recipe from a book is done within a minute. Just scan the page with your device, select the text and mark it as instruction, ingredients, notes or whatever and it will automatically add it in the right section in the app. Just maybe have a quick look to make sure it didn’t crop an important information but honestly love it. Been going through all the different places I had saved recipe and been adding them all there. Have a friends recipe book with couple recipe I think I’d like, took a minute and it was saved in my app if I ever decide I want to try it. Great app to reconcile everything and stop waiting time looking in different places for recipe I’ve seen and saved before. Happy cooking!.Version: 1.2.1

Great recipe appGot this after using Reeder (RSS reader) from the same developer. Really clean and easy to use interface, and the deeper you dig the more nice quirks you find - eg tapping ingredients in cook mode to hide things you’ve put in dish. Sharing recipes over iCloud works well, and the automated extraction from websites/pictures of printed books is seriously impressive. App is performant, and great open approach to data formats and not capturing a load OS unneeded stuff. Fantastic app..Version: 2.1.3

The best money I’ve ever spent on an appMela is such a joy to use. It does exactly what you want in a recipe manager in a beautiful interface..Version: 1.2.4

Best recipe manager available now!Fantastic app that does everything so well! I’ve been using it for the last three months and have enjoyed the experience, from adding recipes to buying groceries and cooking food. The UX is great as it adheres to iOS standards while adding a touch of style in the branding. The fact that it directly plugs into the iOS reminders and Calendar apps is a massive game changer, as it allows me to plan the recipes with shared reminders and calendars. I can’t wait to see my catalog of recipes utilizing all of the features, including tags, favorites, etc., in a year’s time! Definitely my favorite app of the year. It’s fair to say I’m an advocate among my friends and family, haha! Minor issue I have – and this by no means takes away from how good this app is – is that when importing recipes from Waitrose food recipes, instructions seem to be broken up onto individual lines. I have manually edited the instructions to fix this; however, if this is something that could be fixed in development, it would be extremely appreciated! Thank you!.Version: 2.2.2

One Feature RequestThis app is terrific and you should get it if you want an easy way to manage your recipes. I do wish that I could share multiple recipe collections with multiple people. Sharing my mom’s recipes with her and my partner’s recipes with them (without mixing recipes up) would be a huge improvement on the all or nothing approach the app takes now..Version: 2.2.1

Legendary!By far the best recipe app. Silvio nails all the details—every part of the app is near-perfect and a pleasure to use..Version: 1.4.4

Great app with frequent improvements all the timeLove this app. Incredibly easy to use and intuitive to use, every time I think to myself: “oh x would be a nice feature” the following week it appears in the app. Highway recommend..Version: 1.2.1

The Recipe App I always wantedMela is simple to use, fast and polished. Recipes look nice in the app, but I really like that I can easily share them with anybody by exporting as PDF. They look good (and are easy to read) in PDF form as well! I don’t generally use the fancy import features it provides, I just write my own recipes by hand and it’s great at it..Version: 2.0.3

The bestAs you’d expect from the developer behind Reeder this is a wonderful app..Version: 2.2

The Perfect Recipe AppMela is an absolute game-changer in the recipe app space. It combines beautiful design with user-friendly navigation, setting a new standard in the world of digital culinary resources. I’ve tried numerous other apps, but Mela triumphs with its seamless blend of aesthetic appeal and practical functionality. Its clean and intuitive interface makes browsing a joy, while the comprehensive features ensure that it more than just looks the part. Every recipe is well organized, and the app works flawlessly, making the cooking process more accessible and enjoyable. After a long search, Mela has proven to be the perfect companion in my kitchen. It’s rare to find an app that combines such beauty, functionality, and user-centric design with perfection. Mela is a gastronomic revelation that any cooking enthusiast should not miss. Five stars all the way!.Version: 2.3.1

Amazing AppMela’s ability to extract a recipe from an article is pretty magical. The design is beautiful and the feels very snappy. I’m really happy with this purchase. The only feature request I have is more robust support for images. Two ideas: Support for extracted multiple images from a site and the ability for images to be displayed in line with steps. I have a bunch of recipes that have step-by-step imagery..Version: 1.2.3

FantasticI’m new to cooking and this is a fantastic app to collect recipes. It has become my go to recipe app on my iPhone. It’s so easy to import recipes from anywhere. The printed format is excellent and the cooking guide mode with the bolt timers is great if you want to go paperless. One of the best designed apps I’ve ever used..Version: 2.2

Pretty goodPretty good recipe planner. I love the integrated “feed” feature for my favorite blogs. I’d love if you could import multiple images to scan recipes instead of just one. It would also be nice to select multiple & edit at once. For Example if you input 5 recipes from a cookbook, to select all and add the source vs having to do that separately..Version: 2.3.1

The best recipe collector OUT THEREThis app is seamless for folks who use recipes online. It is SO easy to take any recipe and integrate it into a wonderful, simple screen for cooking! Say goodbye to scrolling through endless text and reading context about food and accidentally clicking on an ad while your fingers are covered in flour. This app is beautiful, allows you to go into “cooking mode,” which is essentially a distraction free, concentrated view of the app, and even allows you to change PORTION sizes SUPER easily. All for free! I immediately bought the pro version because it is that good and I wanted to show my support. But my hands down favorite thing, and the unique piece that makes this app stand out is the “feed” feature. This allows you to copy a URL from your favorite food blogger’s website (mine is fitfoodieselma, #shamelessplug), and it imports all the recipes it can find into the app for you. It’s wonderful 5/5, and I’ve been looking for a good cooking app to suit my needs for YEAAAARS. Props to the creators!.Version: 2.3.1

Great App with a Surprising ShortcomingI really like this app. I purchased both the macOS and iOS versions and have already entered about 900 recipes. I was looking forward to using my phone in the kitchen to follow the recipes as I cooked but found that the iOS version had no way to search for specific recipes. You have to scroll through manually. It’s not a huge hassle, but it is surprising test there is no search function..Version: 1.2.4

Bonkers Good - I only wish I'd bought it even soonerWhen you find a developer who echoes your aesthetic and taste, take notice when they release something new. The same usability and refined user experience shines through in this stunningly competent first version. No longer shall I bury recipes in a Read Later App (never to be seen again), or Bookmark then in some deep folder. The recipe parser is superb, and should you find some website that defies it, manual recipe input is elegant and straightforward. A deeply impressive and delightful piece of software. I never thought I'd be excited to be managing recipes..Version: 1.0.3

Amazing with IMO one key feature missingI love this app. It is impeccably designed, simple, easy to use and at an amazing price. I have been raving about it to all my friends that see me use it. One thing that I think is missing is to be able to filter by multiple tags. To each recipe I assign tags like “main” “vegetarian” “quick” “meat” “side” etc, and it would be great for example if I could see all the main-quick-vegetarian recipes I have (if this feature is available I haven’t been able to find it)..Version: 2.3.1

The perfect recipe appI love this app. The only thing I feel it’s missing is the ability to rate recipes and add notes like “Tasty, but only needs 1/2 cup sugar.”.Version: 2.2

Love butJust a way to get rid of the yellow color or at least customize it and change to another color. Also an option to hide some of the descriptors in the recipe list view, but still have the ability to filter, sort or search by categories for example , Finally ability to organize groceries by type or aisle (example, produce, meat, juice) Then I think it will be absolutely perfect!.Version: 2.1.3

Fantastic recipe management app! Please please please bring that machine learning magic to the recipe scanner functionality! OCR is nice but it’s a ton of work fixing scans of books, especially if they have unusual type layouts I’d also love it if the calendar and shopping list worked better together, or the shopping list would group ingredients by category..Version: 2.2.2

PerfectMela does a really great job at importing and organising recipes, plus makes a shopping list easy. I would love to see a simple meal planner added, to help organise the week..Version: 2.3.1

OmgI have never, ever been this excited about an app before. As an avid cook and baker, having the ability to have all of my recipes in one place, not having to navigate websites full of chatter, videos and ads in order to get to what I really need - well, it’s perfect. The ability to scale the recipe up or down makes it even better. Super excited about this one. Thank you!.Version: 1.6.3
