✓ NightmareWe have had this game for over a year. This week we experienced some problems with our iPad and had to do a factory reset. Once we redownloaded the game all of the packs we purchased were lost. We contacted the company and they were no help with restoring the past purchases. I even emailed them with the error message I was receiving and screenshots of the purchases made. ✓ Purchased subscription but still can’t access anythingSo I purchased the insanely expensive subscription for $50 a year. Immediately after purchasing, the app began crashing repeatedly. Wouldn’t even open at that point. So I deleted it and re-downloaded it. Went into settings to restore purchases and it says that I have not purchased anything. But my bank account now has a $50 withdrawl from apple pending and my iPad shows that we are subscribed to this app. So not only is the app outrageously expensive, it glitches out, takes your money and gives nothing back. ✓ What ever happened to skill based games?!?Game creators today only care about maximizing profits rather than making games enjoyable and skill based to where your abilities and intellect in-game determine what you unlock and the amount of xp and in-game currency you obtain. Now they try to make money off of you however they can, and target heavily on children games and apps. Ad after ad, pay to unlock this or that so you can progress in the game..? This teaches kids that you have to use money and pay for things to get ahead in games, and in translation, pay in real life as well. This style of gaming also allows wealthy children to have a huge advantage in games in many areas. I hope whoever gets this game understands you can only play as skye and chase. After that, there is no unlocking anything in the game unless you pay money for it. Also while your child is playing, be aware that after any task is complete, there will be ads. This is not how gaming should be whatsoever. One time payment of the disc or game, to then developing your skills and knowledge of the game as a means to unlocking characters or maps or places or beating the game in general is the only way gaming should be. Use this paw patrol game and it’s pay to play and unlock formatting to teach your children not to fall for these marketing scams. He loves Marshal and Rubble, so I purchased those for him - assuming that if I didn’t delete and reinstall the app in an effort to get the nonfunctional sound to work, we’d be ok. Problem is, the game started freezing up a few days ago and we had no option but to force close the app, then reopen. When we opened it back up, Marshal and Rubble are again locked. What a joke. Please, fellow parents, don’t fall for this like we did. ✓ PredatoryThe kind of predatory IAP practices that should be banned. The base game gives you Chase and Sky. All the other pups you have to pay roughly £6 for… each and that’s on one island. They’ve added other islands where you have to unlock the pups on those too. What makes it worse is there is flashy icons and prompts which push children to the unlocks with less than 3 button presses. ✓ Only 2 characters for freeSo basically you can only play as chase or Skye unless you want to pay 10$ minimum per dog?? That’s insane. And doesn’t even unlock all the other areas. You have to pay again for each dog in the Dino area. And then again for each dog in the Moro cross area. Possibly even more areas I’m not sure. My son is 3 years old and just wants to play the game, every 10 seconds he’s crying and confused that he can’t get into what he’s clicking on because literally everything has a price!! Cons: Constant and intrusive “micro transaction “ design with no way to block areas that require an in app purchase. There for it’s a constant click battle with the kids and the ads that pop up when a “locked” area or character is selected. A majority of the characters and content are behind this paywall. No cross iCloud family sharing ability (like nearly all other games out there) they expect you to log your partner out of their iCloud account on their device, log in with my account, restore purchase, then log back out, log spouse back in…to have access to paid content between mom and dads devices. ✓ Fun for kid, painful for parentsThis game is a hit with my child, she loves the characters/graphics/things to do. Unfortunately it’s the prime example of predatory advertising towards children. I find it disturbing your game is designed for 3-7 year olds and every touch or turn prompts a “you need to buy this character to unlock this feature”. These options shouldn’t be an in game prompt it should be directed at parents and only parents in a separate section of the settings. Also I get that you need to pay your artists and IT people but it’s ridiculous that such a basic game when all features are unlocked cost over $100 and I’m sure that price will continue to rise when wildcat and Rex and Zumba are released. The fact I had to pay for “Dino character skins” when all the characters were already purchased on the other section also seems incredibly shady especially when the new features can be beaten in 30 minutes of playing. Each world costs extra money to play with more pups and there is not “unlock all.” You can buy 2-3 episode packs for $15-$25 each, but each episode only took my 4-year-old about 10 minutes to complete. New content within an unlocked world costs extra also. This feels incredibly predatory, as the microtransactions of $7-$10 per episode add up to a lot very fast with very limited value. You end up with a child begging for more pups/episodes every few minutes. They have removed the bundles in the app which could make this game somewhat affordable and replaced it with a $50 yearly subscription. Outside of the one subscription, it would cost over $100 to enjoy all the content in the app through purchases. Seeing as most AAA games are $60, charging $100 just seems like robbery and insulting to the parents that are supporting this brand. Yes, you could spend that $50 and then do it again if your kids are still interested after a year, but ultimately you will end up with nothing.
