Zing AI: Home & Gym Workouts for Negative User Reviews

Has potential, but not there yetA few things that make this app…less than expected. The constant barrage of prompts from the “AI coach” is quite annoying. The AI body composition scanner is not incorporated into the program the way the advertisements made it seem to be. The one and done scan is not worth it. While it’s a great feature, it really needs to be incorporated into the overall training process better. Like weekly/monthly scans to check progress. The workouts are ridiculously short and don’t offer much explanation as to why, just generic prompts. Other apps gave me AI generated workouts and have a more robust exercise library, allows me to change things on the fly if needed, and just overall a better experience. This app doesn’t allow me to go back once I’m in a workout, which is incredibly annoying. This app could be truly amazing, but just extremely lacking right now..Version: 1.54.1

Don’t waste your moneyUpdate: I finally got a refund after trying to get my subscription working. I would receive an email from support and would reply then wouldn’t ever get a reply. After the refund I even asked if I signed up again and got another subscription if it would eventually give me the same “no active subscriptions” error. I’ve never gotten a response. It’s really too bad because I absolutely loved this app and the workout plans it make for me. If they would just provide a support phone number, I’m sure this issue could’ve been resolved in a few minutes vs weeks. So disappointed Don’t waste your money with this app. I paid for a year subscription and a few months in can’t access the workouts. It says I have no active subscriptions. I have tried to restore my purchase but it still says no active subscriptions. I have emailed them, commented on their ad and Facebook group and haven’t received anything back. Of course there’s no phone number to contact them at. Just save yourself the frustration. I have emailed their support and have not gotten a resolution. So far all they’ve done is reset my password which wasn’t an issue to begin with..Version: 1.54

Waste of timeDONT EVEN BOTHER GOING THROUGH THE SURVEY JUST GO TO THE GYM AND PAY FOR THE SUBSCRIPTION BECAUSE THIS APP IS MONEY HUNGRY.Version: 1.59

I Like It But It Doesn’t Deliver On IntensityI’ll give it 6 more months. It’s a great app overall, but it’s sadly mild in terms of giving an intense workout to an advanced gym rat like myself. It is also very limited in incorporating various machines like the typical ones at planet fitness (ab machines, smith machines, etc.). Lastly, I would really like to see more options for replacing certain workouts. The format seems tailored to those with injuries/conditions and novices while leaving no room for the well conditioned to push themselves further with its AI integration. All in all, great for adecent routine, but the gloves need to come off and intensity needs to be a staple in this application, otherwise an app like FitBod will be the default. To the developers, you have the AI, maximize it, capitalize on it, and change the fitness industry. I am looking forward to your future and feedback..Version: 1.40.1

Promising but falls shortThis app shows a lot of promise but has some serious issues that makes it fall short. Other users are right. The initial experience feels like a money grab. You are asked to subscribe and only find out afterwards that thst doesnt include all the feature (scans) and they ask you to pay more all before you even experience the app. Once inside yes you can specify equipment you have available but it doesnt matter, i generated 20 different workouts with ALL equipment available and not once did it recommend anything more then just a dumbbell and yoga mat workout. Additionally even if the “AI” is doing anything I’m not sure how it can understand how much you are loading your muscles without knowing the weights of the dumbbells you are using. Others are also right that if you email them they just say they have a high volume of issues and may not get back to you for several days. All in all I might recommend Fitbod but I do think that if Zing could get its act together it may be a great app that I’d come back to..Version: 1.49

Scan seems inaccurateIt’s a cool idea, but the body scan seems pretty inaccurate- I scanned a few times and it gave me different results each time, ranging from healthy, athletic and unhealthy comps. I followed instructions. It’s frustrating but I guess it was too good to be true..Version: 1.60.4

More and more money??After signing up at $30/month (no free try options) it still wants another $30 to complete a body scan. Expensive app..Version: 1.54.1

Not much variety or directionGranted I have only had three work outs so far. But each one has repeated the same exercise over and over. It’s not clear if you include the bar in the weight indicated or not (landmine ms I’m looking at you). Each day for “recommended for me” is a recovery workout. Which is pretty much the same each time. I can choose another workout and indicate full body, upper or lower body.. but outside of it telling me to do two works a week (but not which muscle groups). It doesn’t provide much direction otherwise. .. and twice a week is pretty weak. It’s fine. But not good.Version: 1.42

I was excited!!! Until I used the appI have tried a lot of fitness apps. What attracted me to Zing is that it builds workouts for me, and has tutorials. The number of different apps I have tried are not as user-friendly. However, the app really advertises itself as an AI trainer. Well I understand that the artificial intelligence has to learn, and projected that I should lose 50 pounds. This is incredibly unhealthy, and just like every other app that just takes old practices into consideration. In addition, it does not allow you to customize what target weight you want to get to, which in my eye would be amazing for AI to tailor a plan to you based on that. In addition, I tried to reach out to support and ran into a server error, which was also disappointing to see. Still giving the app a try, but figured I would leave the review for.Version: 1.52

App Needs WorkI really enjoyed using the app in the first few weeks. There’s just a few things that could use adjusting. The music is limited to one app. I have to play it in the background. If you open up any app it automatically pauses your time. Sometimes I need to change the song while I’m working out and don’t want it to pause. It doesn’t allow you to skip the “get ready” time lapse before the exercises. I don’t need that much of a break sometimes. They give you 35+ sec to switch arms on single arm curls. I only need like 2 secs for that. The app is a little glitchy too. I typed in a routine to work my back, but it planned out a whole body workout. There was only one back exercise in that whole routine. With those frustrating features, I’m out. Thank you for the workout ideas tho!.Version: 1.54.1

Body Scan Scam!I purchased the body scan feature for $30 and after trying to use it half a dozen times with it giving an error saying try again later - the option to do the scan has completely disappeared! Pretty disappointed and would love it if this problem could be fixed or my money refunded Thankyou!.Version: 1.45.1

Wrong EquipmentYou log in your home equipment for a workout and it then uses equipment you don’t have. Not sold, already deleted my subscription..Version: 1.60.2

No goodBody scans cost extra and customisation of workouts is difficult..Version: 1.58

Rip offI made an account then proceeded to download the App. I tried to log in to the App but it doesn’t recognise my details and wont let me log in. Also I have been charged twice for the sign up fee.Version: 1.59

Cool App, but missing an important featureThis is a cool app and I really enjoy the warmup/cooldown stretches that it has. There’s a good variety of workouts as well. But I think I speak for a lot of people when I say that the Apple Watch/smart watch is a important when it comes to fitness. When it comes to the gym I like to have as little contact with my phone as possible. There should be a gym version of the app for Apple Watch instead of just home workouts. It’s frustrating to always pull my phone out of my pocket to log my sets and reps. Hopefully this will be added sooner than later..Version: 1.41.1

The Potential is ThereMan, this app has the chance to be so cool. Pros: The body scan seems to be pretty accurate, the app does decent at recommending workouts and suggesting weight for progressive overload. Cons: There app lacks some features that just seem crazy not to have (not talking from a development perspective though, no knowledge there haha). -You don't have much say in customizing workouts, or the ability to add cardio into the mix. It has an option for jump rope as equipment, but will recommend a circuit with 30 seconds of jump roping, and a bunch of lunges. I'd like to be able to select that and get a jump rope specific workout. -The app requires you to follow the workouts in the order they're listed. When the gym's crowded you don't always have the luxury of following the order. The app lets you input your reps and weight, but you can't start the workout timer which results in inaccurate results for calories burned. -The body scan gives you your macros but there's nowhere to track your them or log your meals -Lastly, the ability to log other activities to make this a more all encompassing health platform..Version: 1.58

Functionality makes this a 3Love the body analysis .. love the workout getting readjusted through my progression enjoy that I can adjust my workout based on time which is great ! .. However functionality is awful if slapp. If I miss a day I was suppose to workout it does not readjust to let me do what I miss . If I did upper body and I was suppose to full body next day but I missed gym then the next time I go I get upper body again .. If I messed up and hit complete there is no way and delete If I want to do another workout example a focus on abs.. after my upper workout I I can do custom one however the next day I end up with the same workout ?? Doesn’t let me go skip a workout and come back to it in the even the machine is being used i sometime have to skip it and come back .. to jt . There is no way to do this you have to complete it to get the next workout and can’t come back to it to make any edits I wanted hiit incorporated but I have not had any this far I selected supersets but only 1 or 2 days does it incorporate superset . The soo it’s self is so good it can be a 5 cause if it’s concept .. and personalization just need to have some user functionality to be more flexible with the user . Will continue using as a premium member hoping new updates will occur and improve over all user experience ..Version: 1.51.1

Pretty Decent. A few flaws with the connection to my ApplewatchFor what it is, this is a compelling app. I have been enjoying and using it for a few days. I really like the AI coach idea, as it is easy to follow. It’s not any different from an in person coaching experience to me. I’m sure that will vary by the individual. The problem I have with it, is that when I am done with my workout, the tracking doesn’t stop and it keep racking up calories that I haven’t earned. I have to start a new workout on my watch and end it immediately to stop it. That withstanding, it’s a concept that I enjoy..Version: 1.45.1

A lot of glitches, I do not recommend it1) the calendar reminder feature filled my calendar up with over 200 calendar entries for every day of the week. So I had to finally just sit down for a day and a half and literally erase every calendar entry so that my phone would not keep going dead sending me notifications about working out. I will never trust your calendar again. 2) The equipment list that you offer is very limited. I have to keep substituting equipment and exercises for the stuff that you offer. So my workout weight amount are completely thrown off each time I go to a different gym. Very limited number of exercises also. Pretty disappointing. 3) I am unable to update my injury list. So if I sprain an ankle or get arthritis in my elbows, I’m not able to go back and update it.. 4) so your app is very limiting, and it does not seem to be adapting as I get stronger, or in better shape I’ve been using it for at least 4 to 6 weeks now, and I am not pleased.Version: 1.56.2

Not greatI’ve been trying this app now for a week. There are so many problems with it but my main complaints are that you can’t change around to work out. In other words, it sets a preset workout for you and while you can change out the exercises you can’t do them in different order. Since most of us go to a public gym to the workouts in a linear way. Also, and this is really frustrating the app doesn’t seem to remember what weights you used when it recommends new workouts. There is no customer support or anyone to help you with some pretty big deficiencies. I will not be renewing and will be looking for another app..Version: 1.58

Nope1. You offer an option to contact Zing but I’m supposed to know the email??? Add an email address or options. 2. After my workout, the app asked for feedback, and it would not scroll the screen to see the feedback options or let me submit. I need modifications on this, as I am recovering from a knee replacement and a broken ankle but the app cannot see that because there is no option. 3. I tried last night at least 10 times to submit a body scan using black clothes, light blue clothes, dark background light background and nothing would take. Why did I pay $60 for an app that’s not working?.Version: 1.54.1

A great concept - but a long way offThe concept is great. Though the coaching completely missed the mark. You go through an extensive onboarding but feel like a number of the questions were irrelevant. The exercise selection needs work. I personally wouldn’t use the app but I’m sure that this will be very useful for someone who lacks any direction. A bit of friendly advice. Having multiple payment gateways ruined the experience. At no point during sign up was I told that I’d have to pay more for body analysis. And if I missed it, it definitely wasn’t clear. I found that sneaky and off putting. I do love your fitness test, so kudos for that. I think you’ve got something great there..Version: 1.57

Workout creation is nonesenseThere is no correlation between the body areas I choose or the timing and intensity of the workout. If I choose 15-20 min 100% core I get a 7 min glute work out. So disappointing. I have to add 15 min core everyday bc your full body workouts you create for 20 minutes won’t cut it. Somehow the algorithms don’t align with the choices. I would add a few humans in the loop! I want a 35 min or longer intense workout - full body HIIT or strength . I get a 20 minute mid level workout. My heart rate doesn’t even go up. I chose workout at home indicating I have benches and weights. I NEVER get a workout with weights. If I am advanced and I want an intense 30 minute strength workout I would think your algorithm would create a ‚beach body insanity kind of workout‘ with weights. Time between hopping around for 45 seconds is 30 seconds or 1 minute between sets. Not worth getting out of bed for. I just tried to send with my name Zeeva for my account and it said. Nickname already taken! Really? When you sign up and create a password, it is a bad combination not being able to repeat the password to confirm it. Sure you add the ‘eye’ for us to check what we typed. But it is NOT working. I suggest to start UI/UX testing. A little late but better late than never..Version: 1.58

Needs more workI am using this for muscle gain and I was doing heavier weights less weights and this app seems to do low weight with a lot of reps. It is not efficient or as challenging. Also it’s frustrating on some of the models when it says use 15 lbs for example but it says it’s a KB lunge but shows DB lunge. 1 15lb kettle bell is different from 2 15lb dumb bells. Also when you do landline and it tells you weight is that put on the bar or just the bar? How much does the bar weigh? There are 45lb bars and a lighter one. My last complaint was I started this workout plan right after a leg day and it started me on a leg day so I customized for arms, so I did arms and it didn’t update for the next day. It had me doing arms again. It should take that into consideration. Not sure I will continue with this. Was hoping it would be more weight focused and less HITT. I do sprinting separately..Version: 1.46

Not SatisfiedThe app is great for beginners or individuals who don’t know what to do. It shows options for beginners all the way up to Advanced however I did not see a difference in the skill level. The app only does upper, lower and full body but does not allow for targeting certain muscle groups with in each area. I feel this app would serve much more with a true customizable ability. Over all not a bad app but not all they say it is. I would only recommend this app to individuals who have never worked out. As a personal trainer for over 22 years, I like to review apps like this to see if they are good or not. 3 Stars is as high as I can give..Version: 1.44

Love the app and capabilities but could use some workI have been using this app consistently for about 1.5 weeks and just now did the body scan again to see my progress. What I don’t like is that it doesn’t show you a log or history of your last body scans, pictures, or data to compare and see that you are actually improving. I have to track my weight on my fitness pal or apple health on top of this app. It would be the best if it was able to provide something such a graph or even list of previous weight/change in weight. Aside from that the workouts are great and very easy to follow in the gym or at home. I love that I can customize it as I go also..Version: 1.54.1

Doesn’t work.Paid for the app, and keep getting “something went wrong” messages. Even custom workouts don’t work. Such a shame. Please refund.Version: 1.56.2

New UserThis looks really cool and I was excited about the body scan. However, it doesn’t tell that that’s a separate cost. So I paid up for the three month plan to see if I like it and went through the whole body scan process only to find out, it’s another 20 bucks to analyze it. I wish this were said upfront. I’m gonna give it the three months because I already paid but I’m disappointed I couldn’t get the results of the body scan. I think a user should at least get the first one free and then you can upgrade for future scans. Other than that I’ll update my review at the end of the three months not sure if I’m going to renew..Version: 1.49

It’s no workingI paid for the subscription and now it doesn't work for me, it doesn't charge me any training, it asks me to change the filters and it doesn't work either..Version: 1.57

AI uselessAt 63yrs had me start a fitness gym at 35 kg plus bar. I could not do one. This is a waste of money, no one able to watch your form ,got message from support and can’t change weights so still negative for me, waste of money.Version: 1.59

OverallI’m still trying this app out. I don’t like that I have to do the exercises in order and can’t jump around. Most of the time when I go to the gym it’s busy and I have to wait for machines. Not being able to skip an exercise and then come back to it is frustrating. Also I can’t figure out how to delete a workout that I went through to show the app off. I came to the conclusion it can’t be deleted there for adding to my history and making it more than what it really is. I also don’t like I can’t create my own workouts for anything but strength. The scan I’m angry about. they don’t tell you until after you do the scan that in order to see results you have to pay a one time fee. I passed up my one time free scan at the gym because I thought it was included in the subscription. But overall I like that it gives me a workout and I don’t have to think about what I want or need to do when I get to the gym..Version: 1.52

More gym equipmentGood morning. I’ve been using the app for a couple of days now. Some of the exercises are nice, but I’m confused by how it’s set up. I indicated that I would be working out in a full-size gym, but I keep getting exercise that involves stretch bands, chairs, and other equipment that I would prefer not to use. I want to use the equipment we have at our gym but use your app to optimize my workout. I have selected the type of workout that I would like to have and that I would like for it to be in the gym, but I continue to get exercises that I could do at home. I want to train with that involves The different machines at the gym could. I would appreciate your assistance. Thank you!.Version: 1.26

Good app but could use improvementsI needed an app that plans out exactly what workouts I should be doing everyday so I don’t have to think about it, and Zing does just that. There is some amount of customization you can choose for your workout, but I hope they will add more options like the ability to change the amount of rest time between moves, which currently can’t be seen until you actually start the workout. I also cannot find anywhere in the app to change my planned workout schedule for the week. It will prompt me randomly to update my workout times, but as far as I can tell you cannot manage it on your own without being prompted by the app. Small things like this make the app frustrating at times, but it is definitely still a good tool to keep me motivated to do my workouts..Version: 1.47

Can’t use the appWould love to try this app, but can’t! I’ve been looking for a new one and purchased a 3 month subscription. I was only sent an invoice. I reached to support and Tatiana gave me some steps, to uninstall and reinstall, follow a link she sent me. Apparently I was supposed to receive a welcome email with all of my login info embedded. Never got one. Not in inbox/junk/promotions. I was told they need more time, but week for a simple login issue? Makes me wonder if their tech is as good as it says. Hopefully someone will reach out to me soon to resolve the issue or at least refund my money. Support seems to have ghosted me.Version: 1.54.1

I don’t know?It started of great, I actually thought it was nice! But the app always shut down when it is time to do the push ups. We have to redo everything each time we open the app. I am sure it is just a bug, but yeah. Other than that, the idea of the app is really cool!.Version: 1.18.3

Bunk and Difficult to CancelDownloaded the app because it had good advertising and I wanted to add to my gym workouts. It advertises “AI” based workouts… which is completely bunk. They are set workouts and are no different than what any other app offers, but at a premium price. Then, trying to cancel is difficult… there is no where in the app to access, change, or cancel your membership. I went to my Apple subscriptions, and it doesn’t show up there. I get hit with a bill and I am still trying to cancel. $80 later I hope I can finally get rid of Zing!!!! It’s now my life’s mission to comment on the advertising and make sure other folks beware of this sneaky app..Version: 1.52

Needs more developmentThe app is great in certain aspects and I love it. But here’s the problem. The options to build your work out is just upper body, lower body, and full body. It’s not really accurate even if you choose one of the options either. There will be a mix of different groups of muscle. For people like me who like to target certain muscle groups different day of the week, this app is not for you! Also, there is not audio from the coach! Even worse is, it does NOT count reps or even at least seconds unless you upgrade to the body scanning feature paying another $20 on top of the main subscription fee. Not worth it..Version: 1.45.1

FunctionalityThe app doesn’t allow you to actually do the program on your own. I have to log the rest and each set etc. Also, when the gym is full I cant go EXACTLY according to the program. I would like for it to allow me to pick between sets instead of completely replacing a workout.Version: 1.60.2
