TouchOSC for Positive User Reviews

Great little appGreat app. Smooth, beautiful, and overall easy to use. The built in editor is a little difficult to use, but it is functional and I’ve built several custom layouts with it. I’d never built anything with OSC before, but the built in examples made it pretty easy to pick up and learn. When I had a question, the developers responded quickly. Definitely worth the price..Version: 1.0.8

Very CustomizableNice App! Loving It, but there seems to be a bug where the screen goes blank whenever text is inputted. Restarting seems to fix it though which is quite a pain.Version: 1.0.0

I sold my hardware keyboard after buying this app! This app basically lets you build your dream keyboard. I put my Novation Launchkey Mini straight on eBay after buying this app. It’s more pleasant to play than hardware, no clacky keys, and you can even play over wifi from your sofa. So far I’ve built free controllers for synthesizers such as Omnisphere, Serum, Diva, Vital, Massive and Analog Lab that are all proving popular. Just Google them. The developers are also very friendly and helpful so if you are confused by the rather technical manual, stick with it and email them, they will help you out as they did with me..Version: 1.1.9

MIDI evolvedMost MIDI controllers on the AppStore that were good now seem to be 6+ years old, tired, clunky, and barely maintained. It makes you feel like MIDI is dying. This is a breath of fresh air - new, slick, incredibly powerful, with a beautiful editor. MIDI has a future!.Version: 1.0.3

Replaced LemurI’ve been a Lemur user for a decade now and with them dropping support I thought I’d check out Touch OSC again. The improvements in this new version are incredible. Everything I wanted from Lemur and put together really well. The Bridge software runs seamlessly on my mac as well, can disconnect and reconnect my phone by usb cable at will and it picks up the connection with no fuss..Version: 1.1.9

The best OSC app by farHaving tried a few others, the new TouchOSC is significantly better than other OSC apps. It is cross platform and is being actively developed. Being able to edit and share layouts across multiple devices is an awesome feature..Version: 1.1.4

5 Stars..........for supporting iOS 9..Version: 1.0.0

It’s good! It’s definitely not as rich as Lemur in nearly every regard. But, some data editing is much easier in touchosc. It’s definitely not the sort-of-an app it was back in, say, 2011..Version: 1.2.3

Touch OSC and Hexler are the bestThis app is the best way to control MIDI from your iPad, iPhone or Android device. Simple and quick when you want it to be and deep and powerful when you want that. Add to that the best tech-support I’ve ever gotten from any company and this app is a no-brainer..Version: 1.0.3

This is a great app! This app saves me huge amounts of time creating custom user interfaces on iOS devices. You can connect the app on the iOS device to the app on your computer and see/ test your interface in real time while you’re making it. This feature makes it painless to tweak your interface to perfection. It’s very stable and dependable, a must for any software I’d consider using in live production. I highly recommend this app to anyone that needs custom MIDI/ osc interfaces..Version: 1.1.9

Fantastic!I was able to connect all my hardware and my pc and Mac. Has more depth than I imagined. Looking at the scripting now..Version: 1.1.8

Work of artThis app gives exactly what I needed..Version: 1.1.7

If it’s good enough for Beardyman, it’s good enough for you.I’m absolutely blown away by the latest version of TouchOSC. I’ve never seen anything quite like it; there’s nothing else on the market so capable. How capable? I use it to control a flight simulator. No, really..Version: 1.1.2

Best osc appMy best app. please support joycon..Version: 1.1.2

Hexler stepped it up!Wow! What an amazing update to TouchOSC!.Version: 1.0.5

Works greatThis new Mk2 version is awesome. Lots of power and flexibility under the hood with Lua scripting. App has been stable so far, zero glitches or hiccups. There’s an active user community on the fb for examples and help..Version: 1.1.8

Great but missing 2 thingsGreat app, the panel menus are pretty clunky but eh whatever (It’d be nice to have notes instead of numbers for midi note-on values etc.), and being able to copy and paste messages instead of entire controls would be huuuge (copy/paste parameters from/to different controls) but there’s 2 things that keep it from being truly amazing... 1. Attack and release values for local-data and midi cc’s, as well as the ability to ADD TO and SUBTRACT FROM (not just SET) cc and other values (prefer hermmutt lobby’s beatsurfing app from 2013 for this reason). Ive spent a few hours with the Lua scripts and it’s not worth the effort for time based effects like this (may as well use max for live). 2. The ability for touch to pass through and hit multiple controls at once (not just the on that’s on top). No longer making "capture attention" required was a HUGE improvement (made it possible to make surfable/strummable instrument designs), but it’d be even better if you could hit both controls at once when they overlap..Version: 1.0.1

Fully customizable controlThis is an easy recommendation for anyone who performs in a MIDI environment. I play keyboards for live theater, both scripted and improv. This app lets me move quickly during performances, due to the custom control layouts I'm able to create with it. It's an invaluably helpful tool that I'm very thankful to have. And it's getting better all the time, both as I get better at making cool control layouts and as the decks continue to release updates. Their awesome support also extends to how dang good they are at giving thorough responses to support email queries. (Honestly maybe the best I've ever seen on that front.).Version: 1.0.8

Great app!I’ve been using touchosc for quite a few years, and it’s super solid, and easy to use. Highly recommend!! The new update is a big step forward, and well worth it. I would pay a lot more for this app..Version: 1.0.6

IndispensableI cannot conceive of not having TouchOSC. It is completely indispensable to my workflow now. Key switches, automatically naming mixes and stems, transport controls, DAW commands, faders and pan, and on and on. All reconfigurable at the touch of a hat. And the new version takes it light years further. I would rate it 10 out of 10. Or a Nigel Tufnel 11..Version: 1.1.3

OSC must have appThis is a very useful app, but the editor is what I’d call 'Clunky' and mass editing is not at all friendly, that’s not to say the editor doesn’t have some excellent features because it does and visually creating your design layout is very easy. However if you have time / taken the time to think about your work flow in TouchOSC you can make future edits to OSC address and build a little less painful. It’s not my favourite OSC touch controller but it’s my favourite in the App Store, for most people I know it’s is the one I’d not hesitate to recommend as it’s far less technically challenging than other options yet still really powerful and you can do some really cool stuff with this app..Version: 1.0.9

This solves all the limitations of the original TouchOSCIgnore the 1 star reviews. The connections both for editing and controlling other programs and hardware are solid and reliable. It runs on almost any platform, desktop or mobile, and you can edit on multiple devices simultaneously. The functionality without using scripts allows things that required really complex scripting in programs like Lemur to be achieved easily. The documentation could be much better, and the fact that I wasn’t even aware this new version existed for 5 months, and the small number of reviews here is a reflection on the lack of effective promotion. But potentially this could be the last word in OSC and MIDI controller software. I’ll need to give it a rigorous workout before using it for mission critical projects. But so far I’m really, really impressed..Version: 1.0.8

Support is unbelievableI was having some issues with connecting to Onyx, so I reached out to support to see if they could help. The level of support I received was unparalleled by ANY company I’ve worked with in the past. They didn’t just tell me why I was doing wrong, they provided an in-depth explanation as well as several possible things I was doing wrong and how I can fix them. Nobody has ever been as helpful and willing to explain as Hexler and I’m incredibly grateful for it!.Version: 1.1.2

The must-have studio companion!I’ve been using TouchOSC every day for over 10 years now, both in the studio and on major concert tours. I could not live without this app. Well OK, I could live, but it wouldn’t be near as much fun! It does so many crucial things and streamlines my workflow in ways nothing else can. Custom key commands & MIDI controllers, show control, you name it. Easily one of the best peripheral apps for audio/video/music ever made!.Version: 1.0.2

Fantastic tool. Missing a VST/AU plug-in to be perfectI’ve been using mk1 for 10+ years. I’ve purchased mk2 doubtful I will use the LUA editor. The editor is the greatest feature of the tool IMHO. There are so many online ressources to help you learn LUA (I am not a developer). The LUA Editor has helped me built some unique (and impossible to do before) synthetizer templates. I only wish Hexler will bring a VST / AU DAW plug-in soon (a-la ctrlr) and this toll will be perfect..Version: 1.2.3

AmazingPretty fantastic app once you get it set up. I just built a custom layout that is sent to my computer, and then back out via midi usb to my modular synthesizer. Super fun having four XY pads sent to filters and envelopes of my hardware synths. It was a bit confusing to get started however. And as far as syncing with logic pro, it seems like 50% of the time, it just won’t work. Could really use explaining the relationship between OSC and logic controller mappings. The manual is very matter of fact and could really benefit from small tutorials/step but step. OSC mappings really don’t make any sense to me, yet. For my midi hardware setup, I just put the time in comparing the preset layout parameters to my custom layout. Soon enough it all started to make sense (midi). The editor is easier to use on the mac, but easy enough on mobile device. I recommend to anyone looking for a solid alternative/companion to your midi controllers. There’s definitely deep potential with this platform. Take it as far as you’re able/comfortable.Version: 1.0.9
