Monster Train for Positive User Reviews

One of the best games on iOSSolid gameplay and progression. No gacha, no pay to win, no ads. If you buy one game for your iPhone or iPad, Monster Train should be it. I actually now play it on iPad more than I do on Steam/PC. The problem with most reviews in the App Store is that the majority of the people don’t play games on PC and don’t really know the gaming world that well..Version: 2.3.0

Fantastic GameI’ve been playing monster train for a while now on PC and it’s an amazing deck building game that’s friendly to newcomers. This is an amazing port from the PC version! If you like games like Slay the Spire, you’ll almost certainly love this game..Version: 2.2.3

I looooove this game so muchOne of my favorite rouge-like/deck-builders. I was super excited to see it come to phone. Great job with putting this one together!! Only thing I wish I could do is look at my deck while selecting rewards..Version: 2.3.1

Best turn base strategy game- A lot of replay -Deep strategy -Learning curve, but very beginner friendly -When you finished the game (it’s close to impossible to get all achievements) a lot of replay with daily challenges. -I play nearly daily for over a year. -Chess like, you must tink a lot of turns in advance.Version: 2.3.1

Not as good as desktop, still amazingSome minor issues caused by mobile screen size limitations, but otherwise still a fantastic game..Version: 2.3.1

Solid PortMonster Train is my favorite deck building game, and to be able to play it mobile is a dream come true. I've completed so many runs since purchasing. There are a few very minor bugs here and there, but nothing game breaking or annoying at all. This might be the best $10 I've ever spent on the app store. If you enjoyed the PC or console version, you will love the mobile version..Version: 2.3.0

Great Port …… but logbook is bugged. On the Clanless Artifacts pages, the screen zooms past what should be page 2 when tapping the right arrow - i.e., it skips over Lightstone Casing to Wing Clippings. Such a shame for those of us who like filling/exploring the logbook!.Version: 2.3.1

Really really good gameDis game fire emojis fr.Version: 2.3.1

One of the greatOne of a few non-predatory, high quality mobile gaming experience. Highly recommend, on par with Slay the spire!.Version: 2.3.0

Good game but does not work for ipad miniIt is really a good game. But for ipad mini, I can not select the boss because it is off the screen. That’s really sad that I can not use spell cards to deal with boss..Version: 2.2.3

Great game but bugs need fixingMonster train is a great game that I’m thoroughly enjoying. The one downside at the moment is a pretty major bug meaning it is not possible to select bosses during battles when playing on iPad. this means you can’t target them with spells or see their stats. Not unplayable by any means but it does leave a sour taste when you lose a close run because you weren’t able to use half your spells. once this gets fixed the game is an easy 5 stars (and the DLC is well worth it too!).Version: 2.2.3

One of the Top Deckbuilding RoguelikesLike, I’m saying that this game is essential if you like this genre. It’s right up there with Slay the Spire. As the genre grows and evolves Monster Train will offer essential qualities for successful and replayable roguelikes. How much do I love this game? I bought it 3 times 😅.Version: 2.3.1

One of my favourite gameThis is one of my favourite game on steam, I spend over 100 hrs on it and just scratching the surface. I’m glad it’s coming to iPad, I can play even on airplane..Version: 2.2.5

Amazingly RefreshingI’ve played every single major tcg/deck builder from their releases and Monster Train is one of the best. Addicting. Simple to learn. Hard to master. Just like all the best games ever made. The three tiers of fighting. The synergies. The combos. So good. Ive played Slay the Spire for years. It’s my go to for deckbuilder roguelites. Not any more. My only complaint…I NEED MORE! MORE CARDS, MORE CHAMPS, MORE ARTIFACTS! Maybe Monster Train 2!?!? Update - found a couple flaws that really ruin a run. I play on an ipad and choosing the card I want to play and actually playing it can be tricky. It feels like the cards need more space in-between one another or a confirm play button. There’s actually a few QoL choices during a run that I feel should ask for a confirm. When given choices in random cave events it should show the items or ask for a confirm when you click them as well..Version: 2.3.1

As good as they sayIn my book, one of the best games ever made for any platform. Smooth, polished, and immediately fun - and stays fun for countless hours. You don’t need to a fan of anything specific to enjoy this. Great game..Version: 2.3.1

Great game - but let us see our deck!Desperately needs to let us see the map and our deck on drafting screens. Otherwise, incredible experience. Deep gameplay, interesting choices, and polished UI for the handheld experience..Version: 2.3.0

FantasticI’d previously played this game on Xbox and thought it would make a wonderful addition to the app atore, and here we are! Monster Train is easy to learn with plenty of variety in playstyles, TONS of replayability, and challenge for new players and card game extraordinaires alike. The price is an absolute steal. What more do you need?.Version: 2.3.0

A classic brought to the phoneAmazing game. If you like deck building rogue-likes. One of my favorites, fun battles, quick simple but not too easy. Main problem I gotta say, I don’t think there’s much to be done about it tho, is that the screen is pretty small for the game. It can be hard to understand what’s happening if you playing with a lot of units on a single floor. Besides that tho. It’s great!.Version: 2.3.0

Almost PerfectThis is one of the best deck builders to come out in in recent years. Do yourself a favour and buy it on whatever platform you prefer! My only ask for the iOS ports: you can’t see the bottom of the cards in your hand, it’s a touch screen so why not add scrolling? Finally tool tips for card effects throughout would help out newer players. Still gets 5 stars for being one of my favourite go to games even two years later!.Version: 2.2.5

Played it on Game Pass, bought on Steam and Switch…and now for my iPhone.I was worried this game might not play well on my iPhone, but I was pleasantly surprised how polished it is. It’s amazing now having the game on the go since I always have my phone with me. It’s quite cheap too and we’ll worth it. One of the best Roguelite deck builders..Version: 2.2.4

Fantastic game with a devastating bugThe gameplay is extremely fun and addictive. Ive been looking for a slay the spire substitute and this fits the bill. The problem is if you try to play on more than one device. I want to switch from my ipad to my phone and it deleted all my progress from the ipad. Hours of wins and progress just wiped away instantly. I want to keep playing but man is it frustrating. Hopefully this gets fixed soon. Would be 5 stars once that gets fixed..Version: 2.3.0

Works on Apple M1 Mac, you have to uninstall and reinstallIt works but you have to uninstall and reinstall to get it to work. If you can play on steam I'd advise that version but if this is the only platform you can play monster train on you will not be dissapointed. The game itself is great despite it not being an optimal experience on mac with the UI. This version definitely suits the Ipad more than the mac..Version: 2.3.1

Easy 5*It’s monster train on iOS. What else do you need to know?!.Version: 2.3.0

Second time buyingPurchased on steam initially but it doesn’t run on my Mac, saw that it’s available for my iPad so bought instantly. Between this, slay the spire and into the breach, I’m all set..Version: 2.3.1

Awesome gameBut is there iPad/iPhone cross functionality? I bought it on iOS but it seems to be asking me to repurchase it on my iPad? Is this intended or is it something that was overlooked?.Version: 2.2.4

AwesomeThis and Slay the spire are best 2 games of this genre by a mile on the App Store.Version: 2.3.0

Great gameAlthough it’s a little different than slay the spire, it’s similar in its quick to pick up and learn with infinite replayabilty, it’s tricky to master. If you’re a fan of StS, you’ll also love this game..Version: 2.3.1

Fantastic GameAfter playing this on my iPad, I picked up a physical copy for the Switch. Great strategy card building game. If you liked Slay the Spire, you’ll love this..Version: 2.3.1

Excellent deck builderI got Monster Train for sale on Steam, and liked it so much that I bought it again for my tablet. Very glad the DLC was available for this version and I bought that too. And HOORAY for being a game you can just buy outright rather than being harassed with offers to buy powerups and addons and whatever. As is typical though, a few tablet quibbles. Too often I accidentally take a card when I was only trying to view its details (separate “select” button maybe?), and having eight or more cards in hand gets difficult (could use a quick toggle to tile the cards to view/play). The game itself though, excellent. I played Slay the Spire into the ground and found this after, anyone who enjoyed StS should definitely get this..Version: 2.3.0

Easier than Slay the Spire but just as funFor someone who has liked StS and other rogue like card games, but never been “obsessed” with one, Monster Train has definitely been the first game in this genre to really grip me. Each game lasts around 90 minutes but they can be so different, each species of demon can be mixed and matched. It is definitely easier than StS, but I love that sometimes you’ll win by the skin of your teeth and sometimes you will kill the final boss in the first turn because you have a killer combo..Version: 2.3.0

Pretty funGood game and really unique compared to other rogue like card games. Takes around 10-15 hours to see almost all the content..Version: 2.3.0

Super funWaited for this to come to iPad and it was worth the wait. So far I’m enjoying it more than slay the spire which says a lot. My only complaints are 1. Any kind of app interruption causes you to get kicked out of your run and you have to start your level over. Even something as simple as opening control center to adjust brightness. It says something about another device and kicks you back to the main menu. This needs some refinement. 2. iCloud seems iffy? Played on my iPad and then tried to continue on my iPhone and there’s no progress other than Game Center achievements. Hope this is fixed. Easily worth the price regardless of these issues but they would be well appreciated fixes..Version: 2.3.0

All aboard! All aboard the most addictive, insanely deep, fun deck builder there is for my money. If you loved Slay the Spire you will probably love this as well. I think this is every bit as good as STS, and has even raised the bar a little higher. Well worth checking out! Now that the developers have updated the game to where I can use my purchased DLC offline as I wanted to, I am restoring my review to a well deserved five stars. The base game and the DLC are all I’ve ever wanted in a deck building game and so much more. The game has seemingly infinite replay ability, and so much fun and depth. This is one ride you don’t want to miss! Thank you to everyone involved in making this gem and bringing it to this platform..Version: 2.2.6

Great game. IOS port needs some more workIssues; 1) can’t cast spells on flying bosses, 2) animation slow compared to PC. Don’t think this is a processor issue in my iPad as it doesn’t even get warm. But the game itself is amazing and one of my favourites..Version: 2.2.3

Awesome deck builderI played this first on Xbox and then grabbed it when I saw it was on the phone. I do recommend the last divinity DLC because it lets you modify your cards in new ways. The only real complaints I have are that I occasionally fat-finger the wrong card into play and it spoils the battle (you’ll win or lose based on the order of your units and cards played) and I think Wurmkin shows up too much when I randomize my tribes..Version: 2.3.1

Amazing game, but few bugs and no 60fpsI’m not going to focus on the game itself, because it’s fantastic. If you like Slay the Spire, this is worth your time. It’s also on Gamepass if you want to try for “free” before buying on a more portable version. My main issue is the card selection can be finicky and too easy to accidentally cast a spell. It’s happened to me dozens of times at this point. 60fps support would be amazing, really any more graphical options. I maybe the option to turn down graphical effects to really optimize for battery life?.Version: 2.2.4

Solid portGreat game happy it has a mobile port. Wish matchmaking didn’t take so long but great single player experience, perfect for flights.Version: 2.3.1

Amazing! This is one of my favorite games of all time in any genre, and I’m enjoying it all over again on my phone. My favorite thing about this game is how impactful each choice is; I get bored now with other games where it feels like my decisions or upgrades are incremental. In this one, adding or even removing a single card can change your whole strategy :) Just some notes for the devs: On a non-huge iPhone, units stacked to 5+ become pretty unreadable, especially if they have armor, in which case you can’t read the stats. I think there’s probably not an easy solution to totally solve this, but I wonder if you could add the unit stats to the hold/hover dialog where it currently only shows buffs, debuffs, statuses and helper text. It can also be tough to target a specific unit when they’re stacked high on mobile - I think it would probably be particularly frustrating for a newer player, but I’m not sure what’s to be done about that one. There is a strange issue that I’m pretty is the same thing I ran into in the pc version, where occasionally when grabbing a card to play, it would scroll you to a different floor with the card in hand. Sometimes this causes a misplay but I think it’s a slightly bigger issue on mobile because you can’t scroll a mouse wheel to quickly correct it; you have to put the card down and try again. Anyway, thanks for brining this masterpiece to my pocket!.Version: 2.3.0

Deck Building PerfectionI swear all I need for the rest of my life is a copy of Monster Train and Slay the Spire on my iPhone and I will always be a happy man. Monster Train was a firm favourite of mine on the Xbox and I’ve always wanted a more portable version, so this is a very welcome port. It works very well although I find myself playing a bit slower than I would on the Xbox due to tap and hold tooltips taking a little longer to bring up. It’d be good to customise that tap-hold duration, but other than that I have no constructive feedback. The game design is godly and every run is as exciting as ever..Version: 2.3.1

Suggestion feature to addFun deck building game, where you try to find the most op mechanic However in order to build that op deck you need to carefully pick your card. After you win a battle you’re presented with three cards to choose from, however you are unable to review your deck. The only way to review the deck is to quit the game and then pick the card you want. This feature is on the original pc, just not on iPad nor phone for some reason.Version: 2.3.1

Fantastic rogue- lite card brawlerThis is heaps of fun. Thoroughly recommended..Version: 2.3.0

Better than slay the spireI have over 100 hours into this game and got 100% achievements on the steam version. More fun than StS, and easier to understand..Version: 2.2.3

Among the bestAmazing game, had it on pc, got it for the iPad, perfect port, excellent game, hours of fun !.Version: 2.3.1

Good DepthI’m about 20 runs in or so and as an avid rogue-like player I’m pretty impressed. It looks good, sounds good, had good depth and replay ability. I looove the theme and concept. Very cool minions and cards..Version: 2.3.1

The king of a growing genreThis is by far my favorite deck building roguelite. Great aesthetic, design, balance, and length. More card/clans would be great, even as more DLC, but what’s there is great. I love it on both PC and mobile. Just buy it..Version: 2.3.1

Great game but limited on m1I've been playing on xbox for quite a while and bought the game and the DLC despite it being available on game pass because of how much I enjoy it. I was really excited to learn that it was available on iOS because I've been wanting a way to play it away from my xbox. I've used cloud streaming and that works okay, but it isn't ideal. I was hoping that I would be able to play this on my M1 macbook, but there isn't any controller support and scrolling gestures on the trackpad aren't recognized, so when you're looking at your deck, you can't see the entire thing. This makes it impossible to delete cards or upgrade cards if they are past the first few, visible rows. Playing on my phone, the game seems great although I've only got a small out of time on it so far. I haven't tried it yet on my ipad..Version: 2.3.0

Great Steam crossoverI first played this game on Steam and was really happy to see it for iOS. Not pay to win in any way, you develop your deck and never lose progress. No silly events to get you to buy and a fun soundtrack. I don’t know what more you can ask for in a rogue-lite/rogue-like card battler franchise. The story is fun, but not tedious. The different factions are each interesting on their own, and fun to combine into different runs. It features a progression map like Slay the Spire (another great rogue-like on Steam) which allows you to choose your path through the game for high replay value. The system demands for the game are low, which makes it great on PC, but now for iOS, it’s available on your handheld platform for a great time killer wherever you are. It’s turn-based, which is a plus; and well…. I just can’t recommend this game highly enough. Play it, you’ll love it..Version: 2.3.1

Just buy itThis is the best deck builder you can get on any platform.Version: 2.3.0

Five stars for a great game but please bring parity to PC versionSome little things like not being able to look at your deck contents on certain screens when you can on the PC version are very annoying. I shouldn’t have to memorize my deck before making a choice..Version: 2.3.1

Awesome gameI’m hooked first time playing it. But seeing videos of how the steam version allows you to view your cards prior to choosing draft of cards. The mobile version doesn’t allow you to view the deck of cards while selecting say draft units or clan pack cards. This makes it very difficult to make decisions as u need to memorize your deck pre-battle.Version: 2.2.5

Defintely a lot of funIt’s hard enough that I have to think carefully sometimes but straightforward enough to pick up and put down while traveling and mostly remember my next steps. I’m fairly certain my ccatholic school teacher wouldn’t approve of the story but the gameplay is really good. If you like Slay the Spire, Monster Train is interesting alternative to try.Version: 2.3.0

Fun!This game is a bunch of fun. Very much recommend!.Version: 2.3.1

Great port of the great gameNice rogue like deck building . Tons of strategy and replayability. Please add map like pc version , dev..Version: 2.3.0

Awesome game!Hope to see more dlc for this..Version: 2.3.0

Love this gameReally hoping for more DLC, the game is already great but I would just love some new clans to play with.Version: 2.3.1

I love itMy first time ever playing this game and I’m loving it so far and can’t wait to get back on it and play some more. I loved sts on other systems but not so much on iOS but this one feels much better to me on iOS and I can see myself spending countless hours on this game. Highly recommended..Version: 2.2.3

Best game everI’ve bought this game on PC, Xbox and now my phone and its great on every platform. One of two roguelike deck builders that has been able to keep me playing after hundreds of hours, the other being Slay the Spire. There are five different clans (six with the DLC) and each clan has two champions and you combine two clans each run so there are a ton of different options and cool synergies to discover. My favorite thing about this game is that it’s really easy to figure out how everything works but it’s still complex enough to make you really think about what you have to do..Version: 2.3.0

Excellent Port, Fun GameFor any fans that have played on a different device, this is a near flawless port, with the main limitations being iPhone related. The graphics are great, but the later stage boss visual effects really drain the iPhone battery and heat it up. One minor bug, frozen cavern visit gains are lost if you close the app any time between visiting the cavern and fighting a boss, so be careful..Version: 2.3.1

Easily a condenser for GOATAlready played a ton on steam and bought this back when it came out on mobile. I find myself coming back to it constantly. Just a really fantastic game. I say better than Slay the Spire. If you’re even remotely a fan of deck builders this will scratch every itch..Version: 2.3.1

Much better than the Slay the Spire iOS PortYes, the game could run at a little higher frame rate, but the iCloud sync works well for me (exit the match before closing the app) and the polish and implementation of everything is quite good. So much better than the Slay the Spire iOS port!.Version: 2.2.4

Awesome game and PortThis game is a deep and well polished deck building roguelite with tower defence. It has solid reviews on steam and for good reason. The developers have ported this one across to iOS extremely well. It’s a joy to play on the go. Unfortunately it got review bombed on an issue that was quickly resolved (targeting bosses off screen). Does not deserve the dropped rating but oh well. Well done to the devs!.Version: 2.2.5

Playing on a new apple device will destroy your save!!Bugs: -installing on additional ios devices will clear your cloud save. I lost a couple hours of playing as a result. Turn off cloud saves or back your saves up when installing on multiple devices. Cloud save works fine after though. -hard to read cards -wrong card often played depending on how you drag your selected card to the play area. Otherwise the game is amazing and I strongly recommend. 5/5, -1 for the cloud save bug. I was eagerly awaiting the game to come to IOS. No cross platform save for other systems though..Version: 2.3.0

One of the best value for money gamesI also recommend getting the DLC the new clan is interesting and an extra boss is fun to plan around..Version: 2.3.0

Double dipped!Initially bought the game on my Nintendo Switch but it looked so much better on my iPad that I had to purchase again. Great card/deck building rogue game with lots of replay ability with progression. Just get it and buy the DLC too..Version: 2.3.0

A phenomenal gameMonster Train is just a better Slay the Spire. This is an absolutely phenomenal game and one of the best roguelikes in recent memory. If you have ever enjoyed a tactical roguelike (FTL, Darkest Dungeon, Into the Breach, Slay the Spire, etc.), you need to pick this one up..Version: 2.3.1

Great just needs to fix a minor issueYou can’t check out the map or your deck when you’re drafting cards/units. This is something you can do on PC..Version: 2.3.1

Addicting from the very beginningI was hooked as soon as I started playing it. Easy to learn and lots to explore. The game is also incredibly polished. Having never played it on any other system, I don’t have any issues with the UI or touch support even on iPad. Looks and feels just about perfect..Version: 2.2.5

Love this gameAwesome game that I can play over and over again because each battle takes about 1 hour and are totally different than the last battle. Makes you think a lot which is what I really enjoy..Version: 2.3.0

The perfect iPhone game - best roguelike card battlerBest roguelike card battler. Better than slay the spire. Very satisfying. Simple yet excellent in every way. Would pay $$$ for more expansions..Version: 2.3.1

Great game but got some bugs on initial releaseOne of the greatest roguelike deck builders ever created. Great to have it on iOS. Most aspects of the port are excellent but there are some bugs, at least some of which will kill your run after 30+ minutes of play (eg. units’ special abilities not triggering when they’re supposed to). Once those get ironed out this will be one of the most perfect iOS games of all time..Version: 2.2.3

Highly addictive and replayableBeen playing for two months straight now on a daily basis. Really fun and engaging gameplay, fantastic cards and animation. Honestly the best iOS game out there for my money. The Last Divinity DLC is excellent as well and great value, get it from the start!.Version: 2.3.0

Great game but why’s it choppy?Excellent game, almost identical to the Windows version. Only issue is it runs choppy on a new IPad Pro. If I were to guess the game is locked at 30fps. Please remove frame rate restriction..Version: 2.2.3

StunnerA superb rogue like card game with the now high frame rate makes it look and play beautifully on my iPad ty guys..Version: 2.3.0

Good gameNot sure why its rated so low. If you love this game on any other platform, here it now is on your iPhone. Addictive as hell and well designed..Version: 2.3.0

Excellent, but touch control needs improvementThis game is great, it would be 5-star for me if it wasn’t for the occasional issues I have using the cards, they can be a little difficult to select/use, especially when you have many. A mechanism similar to Hearthstone’s where you touch-hold and drag to inspect each card, then further drag into play would be perfect..Version: 2.3.0
