(Not Boring) Habits for Negative User Reviews

Painful UIThe UI is more about playing with random shapes then actually figuring out your habits!!.Version: 2.14

Aesthetic but doesn’t sync data across devicesTruly enjoyable UX with widgets you can put on the screen to turn your device into a personal planner. But unfortunately the data doesn’t sync between devices, so I can really just use it on my iPad or iPhone, not both..Version: 3.10

Good design ruined by begging for subscriptionsI don’t understand how an app that annoys its users every single day with a full page popup begging you to purchase a ludicrously priced subscription can win an “Apple Design Award”. This would be a nice app with good design that was pleasant to use, but instead it’s ruined by constantly having to swat away a full page begging session that tries to gaslight you into believing that paying a subscription for an app is a normal or sane thing to do. If you want to monetize the app so badly, maybe don’t make it free?.Version: 3.10

UX need workHow the heck do I delete a habit and it’s reminder? I like the widget and over all simplicity, maybe too simple though in terms of trying to find my way around easily..Version: 2.11

Beautiful DissapointmentNo real features. Would be nice to have more options when it comes to de incentivizing missing a habit and habits that would be on a timer. Also individual notifications for each habit. Just not versatile enough, also a subscription based service for something like this is lame. Rather pay 100 for life if the app itself wasn’t so inflexible..Version: 3.2

Great Concept. Poor Usability. The tone of the interface has such a fun attitude that it’s such a nice break from the mundane habit / tasks apps out there. Completing a task is such a blast. However, once you actually try to use it, this app falls apart. Ambiguous icons without labels, unintuitive swipes that reveal different views (but also accidentally rotating the 3D trophy to no end), no consolidated list / calendar view of all of your habits, focusing the entire app experience on building a 3D model (how does this help?) etc. It’s a shame - this is a great experimental app with some of the best micro-animations & interactions of any app. Too bad it didn’t seem to focus on what the user actually needs to do..Version: 1.2

BillingPlease do not charge me for this app. I am disabled and twitch often. When I reached the page regarding a subscription payment, much to my surprise, it said i had subscribed and my card on apple would be charged the annual fee. Well like I said, I am disabled and living on disability so charging my card would not only be theft (never authorized transaction), it would be disgraceful considering my income, well lack there of. Regards, Christi Allen.Version: 3.6

Ads for their subscriptionEvery time. EVERY. TIME. Every time I open the app there’s a huge ad for the yearly subscription for the app how you’ll be allowed to use the widgets, customize the colors and themes, etc. It’s so annoying. And it’s $15 for a year. There’s not even a one time payment option… It’s either $30/year for the 5 apps or $15/year just for one app, Habits. Every freaking time I open the app the huge ad comes up man. Granted $15 a year isn’t a lot but still.. why do I need to subscribe to a habit tracker app? Maybe if it was a one-time payment of $15 to access all the stuff just for Habits, then sure. ————————— Only thing I would fix in the UI for the app is to add a swipe feature so you can swipe to the next habit instead of having to tap the ridiculously small text at the top to switch between them..Version: 3.9

Visually gorgeous, but lacking an obvious featureThe app is visually stunning and satisfying, however… I did end up buying the 1 year subscription, but the app was largely unused due to the simple fact that it doesn’t sync across devices in iCloud. If it had been a seamless experience across my devices it would have been game changing and I’d be renewing, but I do not plan to. If iCloud sync is ever supported I will be back..Version: 3.10

No light mode???Default is dark mode and any non-dark mode skins are paid skins? There’s no light mode which makes it incredibly hard to see in a bright environment. I also dislike the subscription model and would love a pay once and own forever model. The app itself seems pretty cool though..Version: 2.11

Looks beautiful, but a bit boring.Lots of emphasis on beautiful animations, sounds, and haptic feedback. I found the UX too clunky. I struggle to go to and edit the list of habits, the widgets are large and space inefficient. Sometimes when I tap at the bottom row the habit gets completed when I didn't intend to. The part that seems to have received a lot of effort is the different visual stories you complete as you sustain a habit, but the story is repeated for all habits. I understand it's impractical to create a different progression for each habit, but the effect of this is if you have one habit that's "ahead", you know the story and you gain nothing by going through it as you complete other habits, which I found to be pretty boring and lacking in novelty unfortunately. I subscribe to a lot of apps, but I think the price is high for what you get..Version: 2.14

Slow StartJust downloaded, so will be a review as we go, first off on the fail side, it is not a true iPad app, not sure why developers make out that their app is for the iPad when it is not. The good, visually great, setup easy, will try over the next few days with one habit and see how it goes..Version: 2.10

MissleadingThis app is free on the appstore yet as soon as you launch it, it asks you to pay..Version: 1.7

If you want aggressive upselling, choose Habits!Every time you open the app it tries to sell you something before you can actually get to the main page. Shame corporate greed has taken over..Version: 3.7

Great habit tracker, overpricedHabits is one of the best habit trackers I’ve ever used. It’s beautiful, fun, encouraging, and the satisfaction of getting another level makes it so I don’t need 50 notifications a day to open it (and it doesn’t send you a ton like other apps.) The big problem is it’s subscription. It’s $70/year if you want any decent “skins”, the cheaper tier doesn’t include any fun ones. That’s way too much for a habits app. Theoretically it includes 3 other apps, but this is the only good one. The other apps included are extremely over-designed and underpowered, an example of when you have designers over following trends who’ve never used the app they’re building. The calculator app is great until it lags while you type a 3 digit number, the weather app doesn’t look as good or act as well as the stock weather app that’s free or something like Carrot weather which is cheaper. The timer app has no live activity support, doesn’t support hours, and is just all around unusable. Out of all the apps, this one feels like the devs never opened a timer before in their life. Anyway, great habits app, shouldn’t cost as much..Version: 2.15

Weird mixture of awesome and terribleThere are some amazing things about this app - the concept of getting to 60 and getting up the levels is really motivating, plus the animations and retro game vibes are awesome. But aside from that, the interface is so hard to use that I had to delete the app. I wanted to love it but I can’t stand it. Nothing works conventionally, even ordinary stuff. I can barely figure out how to do anything. I can’t seem to see all my habits at once? The free themes are either gloomy black or obnoxious industrial yellow and you have to pay a crazy amount for other themes. The contrast is so low on those default themes that I can barely see what stuff is. This app is a very cool swing at a better habit tracking experience but because the overall usability is terrible, it ends up being a total miss..Version: 2.11

Cool appCool app, got boring for multiple habits and having to pay for skins. Good idea, great for building up a single havit but not multiple. Wasnt the best app,.Version: 2.15

Only one device?I have to assume this is true as I contacted the developer twice and on the second email ask if this is one device only subscription. Unfortunately I waited too long for a reply and I have now paid. I like supporting independent companies that do good work which it is but the price is high for a single device and no reply to a direct question. (Service matters). I would only use two because I have two calendars that I really like. Breaking the out would help..Version: 2.15

App but habits need moreYou can only set habits for days of the week. I’d like to set for number of days of the week or month even. There’s also no way to add a description to the habit or even establish a length of time for it. The devs spent a lot of time on the design and visuals which are beautiful. I’d love to see them add more functionality to the actual habits..Version: 2.15

Dark pattern: roach motelClicking on link In email returns “Cannot cancel subscription”..Version: 2.15

Confusing and paid onlyI couldn’t figure out how to add and check out multiple habits. The widget only works for one single habit too. In addition to that I have “one week to make a decision to use the app” 😂😂😂 Bruh I paid premium plan for so many apps with good UX and UI, AND FREE PLAN. For example “Flow” for Mac. Also “walking” habit won’t pull Steps data from Health. Dudes, I’m not checking that manually..Version: 1.2

Cool design, Mediocre Usability, Subscription based. This is nice looking app for sure. Very much focused on ultra modern design. It feels like a website built by UI/UX firms, which means there is an immediate “neat” factor with bold design choices at the cost of some usability. Like other users have indicated, there is a clunky/non-existent on-boarding experience. For this app, the priority is to be attractive, not to be clear. The subscription model is a bit difficult to embrace, although I understand the impulse from the developer to attempt consistent income. From a consumer’s perspective the subscription model doesn’t feel “worth it” for the software itself..Version: 2.11

No instructionsDesigns are beautiful and I’m a generally fan of Andy’s apps and want to use this app- but it’s a headscratcher. Vague science and no specifics about the steps to change the habit on this app 🤔. Is it JUST checking the box that changes the habit or do u need to stay with the animations and does that change the habit? Terrible UI too- confusing to navigate . Please fix because it feels like the start of a really useful app….Version: 1.2

Too basicLovely designed app that sadly is a bit too basic to track diverse habits. Lack of sync to heath app for fitness tracking and lack of weekly goals (instead of daily) is what makes this too bare bones to recommend or use. If you have things you do daily then this might work for you. Hoping updates are coming..Version: 3.10

Not feeling the vibes or whateverI think people would feel less cheated if Timer and Calculator were fully free or unlocked via OTP that provided a small discount to the subscription for Habits and Calendar. But the developer has said that taste and aesthetics are more important than functionality for these basic utilities apps, so I guess people who don’t think backwards as well as Team “Porque no las dos?” will always feel cheated, by design..Version: 2.13

Very boringToo fiddly not easy to set up.you need an habit app to remind you to do this habit.Version: 2.3
