Epocrates for Positive User Reviews

EPocrates for iPadImpressive enhanced app for iPad.Version: 5.0

New versionThe drug interaction portion of the revised app is not nearly as good as the previous version. Why when changes are made do they generally give less information and make the use more complicated. The previous version was much more user friendly imo. Other less interactive sections are pretty much ok. Reviews of the app should be in reverse order of date written rather than heavy with 3-4 yo reviews coming up first. Most reviews are not arranged in such order..Version: 21.11

Awesome app.Great job..Version: 4.0.1

Capt. james J. O'DonnellThis iPhone app just has to be one of the best reference guide you can have in your hand. I had an opportunity to experience the full versatility of this app recently at a road accident as first responder. I give it 10/10 with no reservations.Version: 0

Psychiatrist Social WorkI use this app when PT may not know the medications my consulting Psychiatrist prescribed. Additionally, to advise them to call the prescriber if they have questions or c/o side effects. Furthermore they may have not told the Psychiatrist all the medications they are taking and your app notes “possible interaction”-again I ask them to call or I sent him an email. Personally, after a rear end collision while I was at a dead stop-the Neurologist I consulted for post concussion syndrome prescribed me a meditation and I told him it interacted with another meditation I was on. He argued with me until I had him look it up and I used your app to confirm my guess. He decided not to prescribe it..Version: 18.9.2

Epocrates iPhone appQuick access to Drugs by name & class. Disease search comprehensive. Interaction check invaluable. Best of All…affordable. Use my iPhone app all the time. Look forward to Cdn. drug list some day..Version: 4.5

IndispensableI am nurse who works in Arctic outposts with no on site MD. Epocrates provides valuable up to date info even when no internet is available. I use this app daily with clients and in teaching other nurses..Version: 15.8

EpocrateIndispensable !.Version: 16.4

So good! One of the few medication apps I have found that does not require buying the full version..Version: 15.10

Long time user - resent problemsI have used this app for years, first when it was on a Palm Pilot. It has always been so useful. However in the last year it is less responsive, I can’t get the cursor to appear at the search line. I have to keep restarting it. The news keeps popping up when I’m in a hurry (during patient care). Loved you guys for years, please don’t let me down..Version: 18.12.1

Overdue ReviewI have been using this app ever since it was first launched. It was recommended by a good friend when we were discussing a good app to use at work. After using it, I got hooked. I even recommended it to my colleagues to use it and they did. It’s interface is easy to use. Looking for medicines in its brand form or generic form is easy. There are healthcare insurance information as well as news and studies of relevant medicines, new discoveries, current treatment, research and diseases. It has a free and paid version. I’m a RN and I can vouch for this app’s practicality at work..Version: 21.2

A must have for every physicianIncreases patient safety and saves time, no more flicking through pages and trying to find the information. It is all there on the iPhone, right when and where you need it. I had been using the Palm OS version of Epocrates for a long time and finally made the switch to the iPhone. The App runs flawless on a 3GS and competent and fast tech support is available, if you need help switching from another platform to the iPhone..Version: 0

Loads of free infoAs a pharmacist, I use the free info all the time. I even recommend some parts to non-clinical friends. The dosing recommendations, interactions, adverse reactions, pill identification, pregnancy and lactation ratings, pharmacology are all very helpful and easy to access. Only thing I would change is the notifications that pop up when it opens about different articles. I would rather go to that tab myself when I’m ready. I would be more likely to read the articles that way. As it is I just delete them to remove the pop up..Version: 18.11

EpocratesI’ve used Epocrates since 2003 on my Palm Pilot and it has come a long way since then! I can always find the information I’m looking for, be it medications, lab tests, drug interactions etc. The articles on the variety of health issues are helpful and informative. Although I’m a retired NP now, I still keep up with the latest medical information and Epocrates definitely helps to do that..Version: 22.7.0

Hospitalist/FPI’ve used this app for years. Works great, my go to app for calculations like FENa, and finding doses and side effects of drugs. I read the negative reviews and I have no idea what they are talking about. It works great and I have found the information within accurate and updated. I no longer carry the pocket pharmacopoeia around with me like I did for 2 decades. Replaced by this app long ago..Version: 19.11

Primary careI have relied on Epocrates for six years, which is wonderful as a paid user for the latest research. There is a lot of great information to quickly assess while seeing patients. However, there are times I am not able to find what I need in the search engine bar or I have to click on several topics to get what I need. But. I love the app..Version: 22.10.2

More configurable? The only ding I give the app is that the default opening screen is news/quizzes and I need for it to default to either the Home Screen or a feature of my choosing. I’d also like to be able to mass-delete/clear the news/quizzes instead of being forced to delete them iteratively. Other than that I love the app (or I wouldn’t pay more for it on a monthly basis than I pay for anything else).Version: 22.8.0

Good AppI love this App for the Interaction Check, but my only complaint is there are very few Vitamins Listed and Herbal supplements, so I’m unable to check their interactions with prescribed meds. I’m an RN who sees that more and more patients are taking OTC supplements. PLEASE add these to you medication lists and this would be 5 stars. Example, Tumeric is very popular now, and it can thin your blood. People need to know this who take other anticoagulants or anti-platelet medications. I’m sure there are way more supplements that can cause specific reactions with prescribed medications and other supplements..Version: 18.6

Outstanding APPI’m a chain pharmacist. I work alone 8PM to 8AM. I value Epocrates for: ICD-10 codes, to verify the treatment options prescriber when patients are questioning their prescriber’s decision, over-the-counter suggestions in addition to the prescriber’s prescription, treatment options for unusual issues patient call about in the middle of the night, Identifying pills (this is worth the cost of the app), Verifying alternative medications when an insurance claims “the medication is not on the patient’s formulary,” Etc. I suggest free Epocrates to many other prescriber’ s even we’ll established long timers because it is so valued, current, available on many platforms, free, and not expensive when someone decides to purchase it. You get my support and thank you!.Version: 20.3.2

UsefulWorks well. Does crash occasionally..Version: 5.1

Très bien !!!Mais une Version en français serais très apprécier !!!!.Version: 15.3

Great!Great app.Version: 0

Very usefulBeen using for many years. Is USA centric, but as a CDN I still find it extremely useful and user friendly. Thanks Epocrates.Version: 16.6

ExceptionalSuper useful field tool..Version: 14.4.2

Great application, wish the pill pictures are stored offlineThis is so far the best medical app and free too. I use an ipod touch and I find that I can't see the pill pictures if I am not connected to wifi. Instead I just see a ? on the grey pill. I hope they fix it because that is the coolest and most useful feature of this program..Version: 0

A necessity with multiple medicationsWhen you have life altering or life-threatening diseases or disorders, you need to check for interactions against your many medication‘s. With one of my diseases, doctors always recommend their patient contact their specialty pharmacy before taking anything over-the-counter or prescribed. I have always found that the Epocrates appAnd my specialty pharmacist agree on interactions or if there is a medication or test I should not take because of dangerous directions or physical reactions. I would be lost without this app and my specialty pharmacist..Version: 22.5.2

Great AppI’m a pharmacist and I’ve been using Epocrates for years. I first started because it was free. It was and I believe, still is,the best app for drug information available for free. While I was practicing I upgraded for a while but now I’m retired and the free version is fine although if I had the money I would definitely upgrade to at least have the information on OTC meds! Thanks Epocrates.Version: 18.10.1

CwLove the new look and interface… a big improvement in my opinion.Version: 14.4

Very GoodEasy to use! Good information..Version: 17.5.2

Most Used AppThere are no other medical apps that I use as consistently as I do Epocrates. I am an actively practicing intensivists and often wonder how I did my job years ago with a PDR. Would not trade it for the world. There are not many things about the app that I bother me, although I wish more insurance companies would make their formulary available. All in all, my life is better for it..Version: 18.6

My favourite reference appGreat application. With multiple medical problems across the family, this has continues to be a fantastic reference for all prescriptions. Has helped us avoid or alerted us to the seriousness of side effects of a couple of medications. Again, great app..Version: 0

Great help. Thanks.I do check out prescription before anyone I know tax’s a drug. Epocrates helps me do that very quickly. Thanks..Version: 20.3.1

Best app for my medical practiceI am a practicing pediatrician. I have been using Epocrates for over 20 years. It is the by far the most useful application for me that I have. I use it daily for Pediatric dosings and indications. It is speedy and easy to navigate. I also appreciate many of the sub features. For example, I have been able to use the pill identifier program to help families discover the identity of an extra pill in their pill dispense box..Version: 21.12

Great resource. Highly recommendGreat data and accurate formulary information. Only wish we could highlight and or copy or ask iOS to look up a word or phrase. Such a simple request. It’s not like your data is not in the internet already. You just package it nicely with ease of use. So let’s allow some cut and paste.Version: 19.10.1

Australian drugsGreat Application, please include more Australian drugs!.Version: 0

Great AppArticles on drug interactions, pharmacology, medication identification, disease processes etc. this one has it all. Some upgrades locked unless paid for, but as a paramedic, I find it extremely informative reading on, “downtime”..Version: 18.11

Words can not describe...I work as a paramedic for the Queensland Ambulance Service, in Brisbane, Australia. Very often, we have overdose patients, patients patients that don't know the drugs that they have taken, or don't know the effects of the drugs that they take. I can now pop out my iphone, and very quickly answer these questions with this incredible free application. Fantastic application, and most amazingly, its free. Definitely recommended for those that would have a need for it..Version: 0

MDI use epocrates regularly in my clinic. It would be even better if the app was compatible with Apple Watch. Would’ve rated 5/5 if it was!.Version: 20.12.1

Great toolI was reluctant to use the app at first because I was in emergency mode and felt I had to get through the ads first. Not something I wanted to do when I’m trying to save my patients. Then 1 off day I took time to really get to know the app. They’re not ads at all, but quizzes or rabbit holes for educational purposes. I do wish they would not put it firsthand but….. Great resources and kept updated with the latest information..Version: 22.12.0

I love this app!As a 27 year Firefighter/Paramedic I long ago downloaded (for work) EPOCRATES. I’ve used it to check random, unmarked patient pill ID’s, and issues with mixed medications they have. It’s a great way to check if you or your loved one could have issues with various different medications interfering with each other, or if you find a random pill in an unmarked container. I thought I’d share..Version: 19.5

Easy and quickVery straightforward and quick response make it very useful for point of care utilization..Version: 15.12

Most important app you will ever useHaving been in clinical medicine in the role of internist for 25+ years, I used this app on a daily basis. I found it most helpful to keep current with the new meds even before I was able to be detailed by the company reps. Once when I was hospitalized, I was able to do "mini " rounds with the nurse caring for me that day. She downloaded the app and informed several of her colleagues of the usefulness of the app. She found the section on pill identification the most beneficial section of the app..Version: 18.11

Excellent appThis app is excellent for people who work/study in the medical field. The are thousands of drug databases which you can also update through an Internet connection. A lot of detail is provided for each drug type. Also, it is possible to view images of drugs and their pharmacology. Best of all, its free..Version: 0

Good appI Like this app easy to use,.Version: 13.11

The best , reliable and easy to useI have been using epocrates more than 10 years, starting with palm pilot version. Very handy concise and easy to use. Kelps getting better with each update. Information are reliable. Wish however it has Canadian contents as well. Highly recommended👍👍👍👍👍.Version: 16.4

Excellent appI have been using Epocrates since its inception. It still is a superb resource and has successfully 'changed with the times' Only suggestion I currently have is the ability to enlarge or download pictures from the photo quizzes so details are easier to view. Thankyou for a great app..Version: 16.6

Great clinical toolI recently purchased Epocrates for my adult gerontology management class for NP school (as we were advised to do). At first I was hesitant due to the price of the this product. However, I’m glad I did! This tool is an absolutely amazing reference to use for my didactic program. It is quick and functional in the clinical setting while easy to access and reference for coursework. Could not imagine not using this tool!.Version: 19.1.3

CNPI just signed into the free 14 day trial prior to paying the annual fee and was expecting access to the CME’s. I am able to answer the pretest but the video does not show up and it goes directly to the post test. The video is locked and I am not sure why. I am unable to find any contact information to send Questions to epocrates. Help!.Version: 23.10.0

Lov itAs a student nurse in Australia I love this application. So useful and comprehensive. Would love an australianised version but still this one is great.Version: 0

Fnp-Internal medThe full purchased version: I use this daily for quick answers on antibiotic recs and durations. Also if I want the quick and dirty update about a disease or illness I like the summaries available with supportive care or discussion of work up needed. This great if in a rush between patients or even with a patient of needing to look up drug side effects they may be experiencing. Vital to look up drug interactions. Of course not as in depth as up to date, but most of the time has the simple answer you need..Version: 18.8.1

ResearchEpocrates (free version 2.7) is a comprehensive, ‘quick’ reference tool; particularly with regard to pharmaceutical information. This includes info on case specific dosing, pharmacology, and pictures/pricing. It would have been nice to have access to data on drug testing research; however one gets the impression it was not really intended to be a detailed study device (unfortunately). Even the free version does perform an assortment of medical calculations, so its primary use would definitely be ‘in the field’. The layout has a few problems, however these are primarily related to the software trying to ‘up sell’ the user to the full commercial version. The only other criticism would be that all the names are US specific, so --if you’re outside the US-- unless you happen to know the equivalent, one might as well look the information up somewhere else. Other than this, this is pretty much the best medical reference tool available on the iPhone..Version: 0

Très utile.Version: 3.19

Excellent referenceIt is really useful ..Version: 3.19

EpocratesExcellent and informative. Keep it up. Adeso.Version: 13.9.1

Very usefulGreat.Version: 17.5.2

Canadian fanSome Canadians here complain about American-only content. It doesn't bother me. Most drugs are found by their generic name, and the very few that don't exist in the U.S. (ie. Gliclazide) I look for in the CPS. They chose to write it for Americans. They are allowed to make that editorial decision..Version: 16.4

To those detractorsI’ve been an intensive care paramedic for 30 years, yes in Australia, New South Wales. I’ve been using Epocrates since it first landed in Australia and since then it’s become the only drug app that I use and rely on. I only ever have to search rarely for a drug that doesn’t appear in Epocrates. This is one seriously excellent app that all practitioners have in their arsenal. So I say to those detractors of the Epocrates, don’t use it, it’s your loss! To Epocrates I say, well done and thanks for a marvellous medical app..Version: 19.11

Great all round appGood for medication reviews. I particularly like the interaction check and the picture quiz. Wish they listed Canadian-only meds on the app ... but it's still a wealth of info..Version: 15.11

Essential App!A must have for the wards. Concise, informative, & FAST!.Version: 0

Well roundedDepth of drug library is great and easy to use..Version: 21.1.1

IndispensableI downloaded this app at the beginning. As a, now retired, paramedic just outside of DC, I can’t tell you how many times this app has saved an emergency call and probably some lives. Whether it was looking up a medication I was unfamiliar with or being able to reassure a patient that they were experiencing a normal side effect, this app saved a lot of time and energy when presented with something new. Heck, just knowing a side effect and what might present in an overdose was indispensable. The quizzes were also helpful as it confirmed or expanded my knowledge. I still use it..Version: 22.10.1

An excellent application if you want to know......more about the drugs you are prescribed. The database is comprehensive, frequently updated and easy to access. The drug interaction database is my favorite part of the application. If you like knowing these things, this is a key application..Version: 17.7.2

Great app!Easy to use.Version: 15.10

Got to haveThis app is a great tool to have. I ended up buying a subscription during my first few months of 3rd year medical school and I use it every day. It has great info and is pretty easy to use and find what you are looking for. I agree with the previous reviews for opening up the app loads notifications before selecting the home icon is kinda annoying but it’s not a huge deal for me. I can’t speak highly enough about this app and I see doctors who have been practicing using this app to look up some things too..Version: 18.5.1

I first had this on my Palm Pilot@!1) it is Free! But it is an excellent resource. I use it in my work, case management for individuals with serious mental illnesses and long hx’s of numerous medications. The ability to get a quick picture of med interactions helps in advising clients in looking at choices. I also use it in my personal life—it also has the Oregon Health plan formulary—an extra plus!! I highly recommend it (and often do, with work peers and other service providers. Did I say that there is a free version?.Version: 17.10

Great programExcellent program. Meets day to day needs for medical professionals. Thanks..Version: 13.9.1

AmazingWow, a lot of Aussie reviews and I agree this need some localisation for us. But otherwise it's great, like a MIMS in my pocket! Needs offline support for viewing pill pictures...Version: 0

Excellent appExcellent app! Handy! Would be super useful if Canadian meds info is also available.Version: 15.9

AmazingLove it as a pharmacy student. Needs an aus version tho.Version: 0

Perfect, except....The app would be perfect if that news feed did not open every time I open the app. Sometimes, I am in a rush because I’m juggling patients. There should be a way to change that in the settings. We receive plenty of journals and newsfeeds from other sources. App developer please listen, we don’t purchase your app for newsfeeds. Aside from that one issue, this app is a great utility for the med student, resident or seasoned physician. I highly highly recommend it to all of my colleagues.Version: 18.10.1

Useful and free and fastMy only complaint is it should have meds not available in the United States grayed out or ones that are no longer available. It wastes time picking the right med sometimes. Otherwise the ADR and SE are clearly listed and the drug drug interaction check is easy to use and fairly complete most of the time. I don’t know if a more useful free app on the iPhone that does everything it does. I would recommend it for everyone who wants or needs to be better informed..Version: 18.11

Excellent AppPlease consider adding grapefruit to possible counter-indication possibilities.Version: 17.5

More ozGreat App. Please add Australian drug names!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.Version: 0

EpocratesI have used this app (Epocrates) for over 10 years both as a medical student and a doctor. I have used both regular version and currently the professional version in my daily practice. The App has stood the test of time. The updates are quick and always current. References to new drugs, therapies and modalities of patient care are will supported..Version: 19.6

Great app, could use dosing for kidsIt’s the app I use at work. It has everything I need to know in one easy app. Just wish they had help with dosing for kids. I see adults and very rarely do I see kids. So it would be great epocrates if you can add that. Plug in the kids weight in kg and their age, and have it calculate the dosage of the antibiotic or whatever Med you need. It allows me to double check what my calculation is and it also saves time. Otherwise thanks for the app. It’s the best out there in my opinion..Version: 19.12

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️Very easy to use and very reliable all the time. There it gets five stars from a cancer patient. Thanks for the app..Version: 16.4

Marvellous App!Fantastic App. Gets five stars from me. Easy to use, succinct, concise and to the point whilst giving all the detail you could ever need. A most useful tool indeed..Version: 0

AwesomeExcellent resource and it's free! Like others have said, would love an Australianised version..Version: 0

How is this down low?Best medical app ever, how is it low in the ranks. By the way the designers cant read australian comments, go to the site to ask for something.Version: 0

Have relied on Epocrates for 20 yearsI have been a psychiatric NP for almost 18 years. I have used other apps at times but have always had Epocrates to back me up. I like the knowledge build that I have seen. I pay for this app happily. It is always there for me even when my patients think they are Einstein but they are wrong. It gives me the gumption to just them what is what. The app and content evolve but not so quickly that it doesn’t make sense to me. I consider Epocrates to be the best out there for clarity and ease of use. I am grateful for the COVID-19 information because there is the danger of the public falling into panic and mass hysteria which I don’t want to contribute to..Version: 20.11

Great Medical AppA great medical App that is constantly updating. Worth a trial..Version: 18.5.1

Md G.I have been using the free version of this app for quiet a while. I was introduced by colleague of mine at work and I love it !!! Excellent app!!! Easy to use, very comprehensive and most importantly to the point.. it has excellent index It doesn’t make tou waste your time searching and reading a long explanation for a disease or condition. I wish they had more pediatric coverage. The only problem I have encountered is that when you are not connected to WiFi, the search engine doesn’t respond ?! Other wise I would rate 5/5..Version: 18.5.1

New update great designI really like the new layout design of the Epoctates app. It is a lot more user friendly and integrated. I have the pocket medical French, Spanish and BMI took connected to it. I am a chiropractor and a paramedic student. I use it to look up medications a patient may be on. I use the pharmacology section a lot to tell what it does (beta blocker, diuretic etc.) and that is helpful I really appreciate the hard work you have been doing. I love the clinical cases that are in the alert section. I read the case with the Asian lady with abnormal positioning of her coronary arteries. It was very interesting because from a prehospital point of view that dx would not even cross my mind. Thanks.Version: 4.1.1

Great Tool!I am a practicing Family Practitioner who works in an urgent care setting where over 63 different languages maybe spoken by our patients and patients are often new to our country. I have found Epocrates to be an invaluable tool for treatments, recommendations for treatment for diseases that are rarely seen in our country and for day to day usage for pregnant and lactating women to check on safety. The interaction tool is also extremely useful to help explain to patients how one medication may interact with their other, sometimes long list..Version: 18.9.2

NiceVery nice application, but needs more Australian trade names added please for better use here..Version: 0

What a great programAs a Registered Nurse I find this program great, its easy and very useful. as for the trade names of the medications listed in this program, there needs to be alot more Australian Trade name's.Version: 0

Jules PA-CI have used Epocrates for over 20 years- since grad school…first free, then paid editions. I appreciate its fast, concise info. My only, main complaint is its limited selection of alternative medications- some of which have become rather mainstream, & life changing …. patients use with good results & need to be checked for possible drug interactions. One good example is d-mannose for uti issues, esp. In elderly..Version: 23.10.0

Fantastic! What a great reference app.I find it very precise in the information provided and a very good resource for many inquiries into the med&side-effects library..Version: 4.5

Great app but too expensiveI am a retired Physician Assistant and when I was in practice Epocrates was the go to app for me. Back then the cost didn’t bother me but when I had to retire due to illness I no longer could afford to buy the full version. I really do miss being able to look up diagnoses and labs among other things. Since I was in practice for 24 years I paid for Epocrates every year or two years for all the years of my practice. There should be a really reduced fee for those of us who paid for this app for so many years..Version: 18.9.2

Absolutely love EpocratesEpocrates was recommended when I began Nursing School 11 years ago. It’s been my go-to since then in checking medications for everyone. I saved my friend’s life 3 times when I found out medications contraindicated with other medications - thanks to Epocrates my friend was able to change medications and doctors. I love the visual quizzes and the latest information on emerging diseases. The information on COVID19 has been particularly helpful and relevant. I can’t give you enough stars. Thanks for being there..Version: 21.5

You make an account on their websiteThis app is actually very useful. Probably the best in terms of drug indexing and interaction checks (better than micromedex and webMD). You use their website to create your account (free) then use those credentials to log in. I don't normally write reviews but the number of people not using the app simply because there is no in-app signup is disappointing..Version: 4.5

Awesome appIf ur a doctor especially trainee this ones a handy app...Version: 0

One of the Best AppsThis app is great for med students, doctors and those who aspire to be a doctor or surgeon. Gives you in depth look at illnesses. 10 stars for this app!.Version: 0

I can't believe this is free.Fellow prescribers of prescription medications. This App is a must. Its comprehensive, useful and truly free of charge. Bravo..Version: 17.7
