✓ So much better than SafariSafari's tab system really is seriously flawed. It makes no sense at all to have to press a button that takes you to a separate pane- having to hop back and forth is just frustrating. iCab does it the way you would hope and crucially let's you long hold a link and "open in background tab". Now you can browse a list of articles and select the ones you want to read without having to go back and forth. This alone is priceless. My only criticism is the app logo. It's just terribly bad and devalues the app. It really is a burden to have to look at that thing in the dock..Version: 0
✓ The first app I install on any iOS device.Browsing on my phone was always a frustration until I found this little gem which allows you to replicate many of the features of a desktop browser through filters & shortcuts, making the experience infinitely better and easier. The interface can be a little overwhelming initially, but that's purely because so much customisation is possible. Take some time to get to know the menus in this app & you will be glad you did when you realise how much speedier and easier your browsing experience can become. I had been using the previous, non-optimised, version on my 6+ for the last two weeks, and while adequate, the new update is a vast improvement. The amount of screen real estate available makes reading newspapers and leaving comments a breeze. Cannot recommend this app highly enough!.Version: 8.5
✓ Terrific for TorrentsI was looking for an easy way to start torrents downloading on my Mac from my iPad. iCab Mobile plus Transmission turned out to be the perfect solution. With iCab I can actually download files to the iPad. Then I can easily upload the downloaded torrent file to Transmission through the web app. Loooooooove it. Thank you iCab!.Version: 6.6.1
✓ Great browser. But...The icon is terrible. It doesn't look like a browser nor does it look nice on the screen. You can do a lot better I'm sure. Besides that the browser is very good infact probably the best 3rd party browser for the iPhone which is why I've given 4 stars. Provided you change the icon. :) The save form info could be better if you could select on or off in the preferences and maybe have it ask whether to save or not like safari does and then be requested a password to unlock it when a page with saved info is opened. Also would be nice to be able to save form info and not have to enter a password in icab by turning off the password protection in the prefs as I use a key lock to access my iPhone so it's not really needed..Version: 0

There’s been so many times I wanted to do something that’s easily done on a desktop, looked and found the exact same feature in iCab. The browser supports downloading and installing additional ad-blocking and privacy scripts, making it one of the safest browsers to use. ✓ Utterly BrilliantCame across this after upgrading my iPad from iOS 8 to iOS 10 as the browser I had previously used and liked, Atomic Web, finally became unusable. iCab is packed with features and takes a while to get used to. In particular I like to download files e.g. PDFs which Atomic also did. One thing I struggled with initially was getting the right menu icons to display. The way to do it is click the settings icon (toothed cog) then select "user interface" then "toolbar icons", both in normal and full screen modes. Once there you can drag the icons around, moving the ones you want up and the others down into the "unused items" section. For me, the important ones that were initially missing were the Home Page and Search in Page icons. The App also has a cool import / export file utility for bookmarks etc. Well worth the money 😀.Version: 9.5.1

✓ Game changer!I got this app quiet a while ago but I didn’t see any use for it in the beginning. Recently, there was an update (or already I noticed it recently) which made importing filter lists easier which is a game changer. I could do a ton of stuff which I can’t do in safari. As I use it more, this app has a treasure trove of features and is regularly updated. I’d say money we’ll spend! The sheet number of customization is amazing!.Version: 10.1.1

✓ Brilliant - at last a true Safari replacementThis is the browser I've been looking for on my iPad. It looks like desktop Safari and has most of the features of the desktop browser ported to the iPad version - downloads, easy bookmark import/export, options to open in background tabs, a quicklaunch window. It's an elegant, full featured but uncluttered interface with a couple of very clever interface tricks to access often used features. A lot of thought has gone into this browser. You shoold try it. ✓ Everything Safari should have been and more!Coming from a PC environment to an iPad the horror that is the featureless bareness of Apple's Safari browser awaits. Why Apple does not bring this browser into the C21st is beyond me. So if you are used to feature rich customisable browsers like Firefox, then worry no more. You NEED this app. iCab Mobile is a wonderfully customisable Tabbed Browser and it works with Firefox sync too, so you can have your entire desktop browser experience (Bookmarks, History etc) on your mobile device. Better still, a lot of well thought out shortcuts have been featured in iCab Mobile allowing you to use a touch screen device with the same and sometimes better dexterity and time saving features that you are used to on your desktop. ✓ Superb browserIf iOS would let me swap Safari for a better default browser this would be it. Its better in every way, but especially in file upload and download. I now only use Safari when iOS opens it and have a setting to send the page immediately to iCab. This app and FileBrowser make up for all the missing browser features and file management issues with iOS. In fact, without these two apps I doubt I would be using iOS at all! ✓ Great work by the developer A++What I really like about this is the way the Developer has really tried to work around the limitations imposed by Apple to only allowing you to upload 'Photos' (!) to websites very useful when you are a bit broke and need to a job (not). The principle is quite revolutionary here because it would mean that you do not need to fork out nearly a grand for a Microsoft Surface tablet which in fact is not exactly as portable as the claims seem to be. I have hear from an 'expert' friend of mine that the Microsoft Surface tablet is gonna trash the iPad but clearly because of guys like this Alexander the iPad can still be a useful business tool. It does say everywhere where there is a recommendation for this iCab though that there are limitations though as you cannot use Uploading features of the iCab app if the sites used clever JavaScript API methods for uploading but again I've found all this pretty upfront, there are limitations and that is that sometimes something has to give. Great try, great stuff as far as I am concerned. Now if you will excuse me I need to find myself a job....Version: 8.11
✓ Just keeps getting betterI’ve been using this app for several years, across multiple phones, and it regularly comes out with new releases that improve it. But even if it didn’t; even if it were only updated to be usable on each new phone and version of iOS that came out, it would still be the most feature-filled, customizable browser by far. I’m a power user and a developer, so I appreciate being able to customize layouts exactly how I want them. But I’m also lazy, so I appreciate not having to! This app provides a great experience for users who just want a great browser but don’t want to fiddle (I only used the user agent setting for the first couple years) but empowers you to power it up when you choose to. The icon for quickstart bookmarks should be able to be changed so that it can have the websites logo or whatever 2. You can recreate and correct all of the annoying browsing quirks that safari And chrome have. This is BECAUSE you can customize EVERYTHING: the interface/toolbars, add-ons, context menus, secondary context menus, search engines, app launches, full-screen, search engines, downloads... basically design your own browser based on your unique preferences and do stuff that you can do on a desktop browser (multiple tabs, open/load pages in background, save to WedDAV/dropbox/app, print to PDF). Works around safari's annoying refresh problem when you have more than 3 tabs (makes safari horrible!) ✓ Great App... Just one issue!Overall iCab has a great feel and the hooks into other applications is a welcome feature, and will keep he using it! Updated for 2.0: Good polish to an already great app. The offline browsing, new features for the full screen view, small toolbar option, and the fast scroll feature make an already fabulous browser even better. The only thing still lacking from my original review is an ability to synch bookmarks with MobileMe over the air, but that's a minor quibble given that you can export and import them to your desktop. ✓ Almost perfectThe only negative thing I can say about this app is that it has too many features - which isn’t a real complaint I’ll admit. My issue is that it becomes inundating and unclear on how to access certain features when and where you need them. Everything makes sense but it isn’t intuitive, to me. All the settings menus look identical and come at you like a jumping spider while presented in plain text which doesn’t help my simple monkey brain to process what I think I’m doing. ✓ Great Developer ResponseAfter doing the latest update yesterday, the app would crash on startup. I contacted the developer. Within a couple of hours he had discovered the fix and replied back. It has a plethora of features to customize your browsing experience and make it more like the experience of using a desktop browser. I bought the iPad to use as a day-to-day computer to replace a broken laptop; of course there were many features missing from Apple's stock software (probably so they don't eat into MacBook sales). Although Safari has always been a perfectly decent browser, it was missing many features of Mac and PC equivalents. iCab Mobile is just like a desktop or laptop browser. It feels much more 'grown up' than Safari as it allows you to do so much more. The most useful feature for me is the ability to download files and export them to other apps - this has solved many problems for me and has eliminated the need to constantly hook my iPad up to a computer. The speed is similar to Safari, but iCab is much more customisable and has so many more features. It really has, along with a couple of other apps which improve on the iPad's functionality such as AVPlayerHD, allowed me to use my iPad as my main everyday computer. ✓ A great app!!!Okay so I don't even know where to begin lol. I am totally blind and use this app with Voiceover. I love how accessible it is, and that the creator of this app bothered thinking of us, as many do not think to make apps accessible with voiceover. First of all, you can customize what commands you want to use for gestures and bluetooth keyboards. I use a bluetooth keyboard and so this is awesome. I notice when I have the option to add a new command, it's the same options that already have commands generally. Hoping for new ones in the future. I also like that there's a download manager so I can download anything I might need. I sent an email with some questions to the developer and he was quick to get back to me with answers, and also very patient haha. He has already offered to fix a bug I discovered unintentionally involving Voiceover and brightness. Apparently when you turn brightness down to 0 on the app, Voiceover is unable to read it. This makes me wonder why I can adjust brightness to 0 on my IPad itself. Maybe 0 isn't really 0 on the ipad? Anyway there is more I could add but this message is too long as it stands. Haha. It lost some useful features due to Apple increased regulations but the developer is taking it seriously and it’s obvious it’s his personal go to browser not just an app. So he keeps improving and fixing bugs, adding new features. The dev. is not only active, but a great person, not greedy at all like others who keep using tricky twisted ways to milk their loyal customers by removing the app and re-releasing a new version at a new cost, or keep increasing the price, or worst, turn into the ugly subscription module like we need more subscriptions in our RENTAL life! That’s why I fully appreciate his great work, efforts and time and I fully support him by donating and leaving this review. The least I can do and I will donate again in the further. Please dev., keep up the good work. 👍 I have one request though, and I don’t think it’s difficult. Please, provide iCloud sync for the downloads folder as an optional feature in settings. So we can backup our downloads to iCloud and sync them as well between iPhone and iPad (multiple devices. I WILL donate again for this feature alone and I’m ready to pay for it if you decide to make as IAP, although you were always generous not to follow this module. I am sure many users will find it handy so we don’t lose our downloads in case we forgot and formatted or sold our devices without moving them outside, or in case something goes wrong with iOS and we need to reinstall it from scratch (happened to me many times and I lost valuable documents, unfortunately! ). ✓ Truly ExcellentIcab has a long history but I'm ashamed to say that I only heard of it for the first time in recent weeks. On first glance, the app can be a bit overwhelming with the sheer quantity of options; however, you soon realise how well thought out everything is and the whole interface can be customised anyway to show as many options as you wish. The browser really is a swiss army knife that fills in all the gaps where safari is lacking: password protection, a truly excellent downloader, custom filters for blocks ads/scripts, save page as pdf, QR scanner/generator, a full screen mode that hides the interface, direct cloud services integration, over 20 build in search engines with the ability to make your own so it will always search within a certain site. The app also has a huge array of built in modules (translation to name just one). Finally, the browser experience is incredibly slick. Its so fast and responsive (especially when you download the ad block filters) and tabs are integrated beautifully (you can slide to change tabs and open new ones). Overall, i still use safari as my main browser (probably out of habit), but i turn to this more and more particularly for its excellent downloading. Form autofill, Ad blocking, search in page, open links in a new tab, full-screen browsing, load pages with images off (that's *great* when you're stuck on Edge), open tabs in background, and more. Both were VERY configurable, and as time and OS upgrades passed I missed both & moved on... Recently I’ve been looking for a browser that has as configurable UI, like a “dark theme” because white toolbars & backgrounds are just plain eyeburn. So I revisited iCab, and dropped US$2. I’m NOT disappointed at all, iCab is wicked quick and plays well with AdGuard Pro. Even if you don’t have an outside Ad/Tracker blocking solution, iCab can help out there too. I’m writing a review today though because now, 14+ years later, I ran into a couple of usability issues that recently popped up (Google images and Wikipedia quit working right). I emailed the developer and he got back to me in less than an hour with quick, easy fixes (I swapped out the outdated, passed down from my older installs of iCab Mobile, built in ad-blocking filters and swapped in the EasyList filters). ✓ What a mobile browser should beThis browser is well worth the purchase. I am not one to buy many apps but it truly is worth the purchase. The best features are by far the ability to use normal upload forms, manage downloads and modify the header. The downloads can be transferred back through via iTunes to a PC, so it really adds a file storage element to the device from the web. It has about 35 modules / add ons that can be utilized such as view source, save to different formats and send in different formats. The modules are one section in the options menu which is probably about 15 sections of settings all up. The sheer number of options will blow you away. It matches a standard browser and then some. Full screen works well as you get small semi-transparent icons spread out across the screen and it is easy to use. I could seriously go on about this browser but you should just grab it. ✓ Overload of Goodness 😄I tried iCab browser a couple years ago. It was better than safari (not hard) but I wasn't overly impressed. Since that time I've been an avid Mercury browser fan due to its abundant and excellent features. However with their most recent update which looked very nice but actually REMOVED some of my favourite features (what was they thinking?), I decided to venture out again to see what was on offer. Had a quick squiz at Atomic but that was about on par with Mercury. I thought, hey I'll give iCab another go... Omigosh, blow my mind! Couldn't believe how much it's been changed and improved within 2 years. The new features and versatility leave all the other browsers dead in the water! Tabs, Readability, iCloud sync, modules, loads of gestures, and lots more. So needless to say I jumped the mercury ship and am now cruising the iCab. It's a smooth ride 😎.Version: 6.6.1
✓ Puts the user in controlGoogle imposed it's so called "mobile friendly" search results format in late 2015 on iOS Safari - they are truly awful on my high res iPad. So I've tried and paid for most alternative browsers for iPad. Safari is the fastest browser but is so limited, Chrome is pointless because it offers no benefit over Safari on iOS - others allow setting a desktop user agent - but none offer the user control that iCab does - Not as fast as Safari but the benefits outweigh this eg font size control remembered by site - auto enable zoom on every site. ✓ Such an excellent browser!This is the one to buy - at such a bargain price, it is the best browser in the IOS appstore that I have tried and is certainly a great alternative to Safari. It is loaded with features & settings and has most everything and more, that I could want in a browser. I really love it. I thought adblocking would be bad since it’s not using the systems installed one like safari can do, but it’s copy paste filters work great for everything I’ve seen thus far. Mobile version works fine but I have to manually enter every URL. Possible to make an import bookmarks for “dummies” video on your You Tube channel? Goodbye Safari’s crashes and reloads due to crappy coding and careless memory management. The Ux is simple and obvious, you can have tabs like you wanted them, and not having too reboot after all Safari mem leaks. Unlike other small browser it renders all pages and plays all videos properly. Tons of options to block pops, advertisements and scams. You have full control, with tons of options for networking, websites etc. Unbelievable that one person did this. Also has a heap of other modules and features. It’s such a killer feature for productivity, focus, and keeping sessions clean and organized. Not to mention performance. How many times have you used mobile Chrome or Firefox to find yourself with infinite ([:)]) tabs open? I use OneTab all the time on my Mac. ✓ Top notch!Anyone looking for a robust Internet experience on their iPad would be wise to grab this. Safari is ok, but icab does things I want a web browser to do (except flash of course lol which I can't blame this program for but still it docks it a star). Full screen browsing, plug-ins, tabs, easy history and search options, private browsing and most importantly it will download any file off the net and turns your device into a portable hard drive. ✓ Replaced Safari immediatelyThis is the first non-Apple app I've put in my dock. Form autofill, Ad blocking, search in page, open links in a new tab, full-screen browsing, load pages with images off (that's *great* when you're stuck on Edge), open tabs in background, and more. It basically fixes every problem I've ever had with Safari, and then some. ✓ Perfect replacement for safariWhen it opened I thought it was safari - but it's faster and you can upload documents to onto the web from an iPad!!! Only thing is that the logo you click on to access the app is yellow and would look nicer as a standard browser app color like blue. That's a minor thing for what you get. ✓ Has some limitations which could be easily solvedI bought this for (1) Last Pass integration, (2) Translation of webpages, (3) File manager. The Last Pass integration is OK. However to only "protection" for your last pass account is if you set it to log you out of Last Pass OR set it to log you out of the admin account in iCab. In both cases you need to retype your Last Pass password. Better approaches would be (a) to have the option of keeping you logged into both but requiring Touch ID whenever you access Last Pass or whenever you switch to iCab, or (b) adding an option to allow the Last Pass password to be retained on logout Both are very easy fixed - especially the second one. Translation of webpages is unfortunately not inline like Chrome. It opens a new tab with the translated webpage. Probably nothing the developer can do about that unless they implement inline translate themselves. One annoyance is that you can't directly "Open page in Chrome" should you need the functionality. You have to create a JavaScript bookmark to do that if you want. File manager function I have yet to use..Version: 9.0
