Great AppThis app is great. I really enjoy using it as a teacher in my classroom (great for assessment). I had some issues with the previous version crashing, however the current 3.1.1. version is wonderful! The support that I received was awesome! They helped me through my questions and followed up to ensure that I was satisfied with the app and their support. Great Job! Definitely recommended..Version: 3.1.1

Pheww!!This app helped me out so much this semester! If your in college I recommend this app to you. P.S. if you want to write in detail zoom in and write. Also if your looking to zoom in an image, screen shoot it, crop it in the regular photo app that comes with your iPad and just simply place the image in the note. You can write on it it's so easy..Version: 3.5

It's good, but it could be better.First of all, I'd like to say thank you. This is the first app I've been able to find that finally easily integrates typing and drawing in one simple free flowing format. Kudos! I really like how user friendly this is, the ability to put just about anything into notes makes it really convenient for taking notes in class. Also, the ability to export and share the files in a number of formats makes storing the documents very easy. However, as much as I like this app so far, I think some improvements need to be made. I'll list my suggestions below: 1. Ability to customize default pen size: I would love to be able to change the default pen size to a setting I like, I find 0.5 too small and I have to change the pen size every time I start a new note. Perhaps integrating this close to the place where users set default text size? 2. Rearranging notes: this is a major drawback for me. I like to be able to rearrange my notes to have them in order of date starting from earliest going to latest, yet with the way this is set up I can't do that. This is most noticeable for the "export all" feature. For example, if I have all my notes for a class tagged as "math" and I want to export all my math notes, it will automatically put them all in one PDF file in order of newest to oldest. This is inconvenient for someone who wants to read all their lecture notes in the order in which they occurred, this person would have to print them all individually or use a different program to rearrange them as another PDF. 3. Exporting to Dropbox: I absolutely love this. Dropbox is an excellent way to store and organize files across multiple devices and I hope this feature stays around in future versions of this app! One thing I would like to see changed thought is the way in which it saves. It currently creates a new folder for each note/export in the mental notes folder rather than simply putting the file right into the mobile notes folder. This set up makes mobilenotes cluttered and awkward and hopefully this can be fixed. Also, a nice touch might be to add the ability to choose the folder which it exports to. 4. Exporting multiple notes: I already touched on this partially, but I do have one more thing I would like to see changed. I would be great if the export all feature had the option of exporting each of them as individual files, but in one email (or one export in the case of dropbox). Basically if you could streamline this process it would be excellent. 5. Export to file folder: I had some trouble with the export to file folder option, I hit the button and it appeared as if nothing happened. I'm not sure where the files went and there wasn't really an explanation as to what happened. Perhaps a help feature could be added to explain more of the settings and features? Overall I think this is a great app and I look forward to seeing future versions. Although I've listed 5 things I would like to see changed, I would still recommend this app for anyone who is looking to take note on their iPad, not just for lectures but for anything at all. This app is excellent and I look forward to seeing more! Thanks, Robert Leamon.Version: 2.5.1

NotableThis app is a great tool for storing and expanding on ideas and concepts that you may come up with. It's a real thinking mans app. I love the simple yet to the point interface. A few more tweaks and it's five stars. Keep up the good work guys..Version: 0

A Staple!!I keep coming back to this app over and over when all the 10billion other similar apps I've downloaded don't get it done. The only thing that leaves me wanting is the handwriting quality isn't great. Better than before the last update for sure, but still not great. If this had the handwriting flow of Penultimate I'd really be in heaven....*hint*hint*.Version: 0

Serious note appRoom for improvement? Sure, but a solid app that is regularly updated. Newly added pinch to zoom feature makes sketching feature much more usable. I've used this for my daily work journal for 6 months and find it handles hundreds of complex notes well (I can't recall any crashes). Many different note apps available for different purposes, this one is solid on getting all forms of info in one place - typed text, pictures, sketching and recording. If you are looking primarily for an app for handwritten notes this app would not be the best choice, but the pen feature is good for adding sketches or the occasional handwritten notes. Formatting capabilites are very limited, but this is a note app not a word processor - use pages or a vector drawing program for that. It seems most lower ratings are from people looking for more formating capabilities. Dropbox integration is a big plus - I am confident that my critical notes won't be lost if I lose my ipad, there are also features that let you place selected, or all, notes into a PDF file for app independent back up..Version: 2.6

Great note taking app! Finally, after trying 6 other note taking apps, I have found a note taking app that I can actually use at work! It meets my most important qualifications: has both handwriting and typing, tabs, table of contents, insert pictures and audio and can export/email notes. I'm going to give this App 5 stars for those features alone. If a feature update includes: highlighting and changing of text sizes when typing, this app would get 5++++ stars! I can't wait to take notes with this at my job..Version: 0

Great app!I was looking for an app where I could take notes, write on an image that I can bump from my iPhone and take some audio notes if needed then send the whole lot in one email back to the office. This app does it all, absolutely fantastic. The only thing I'm missing now is a good stylus so I can write properly..Version: 0

A big thumbs up from me ! :-)After playing with this for a bit, I really liked it. I love the web 2.0 tagging capability and it does everything I need it to do far. Blondee :-).Version: 0

Great App, so, so supportI really like this app. I love the way it scrolls through a page instead of paging through a document. I also like using the on screen keyboard rather then trying to decipher my rather poor handwriting. Having embeded recordings within a note is also a plus. Other apps will indicate that there's a voice memo on a page but nothing more. For taking notes Mental Note seems the best. On the negative side the developer has a blog but doesn't indicate anything about upcoming features or any estimates of release dates, nothing. They do respond to messages in a timely manor but any new feature ideas are pretty much dismissed or played down as being unessacary. Things the app needs: PRINTING, text wrap around graphic elements. The ability to move a graphic on a page, text notes like stickies that can have text or graphics, wrist protection. A number of the note apps have these features but lack the other more important features, so for now this is the note app I use. One last feature that few, VERY FEW, note apps have is a companion computer application to sync with. This just doesn't seem to be a priority for the App developers but as a user it IS a priority! Anyone listening? Anyone?.Version: 2.5.1

Better than othersNot perfect, but many good capabilities better than penultimate IMO because - ability to mix text with handwriting and scripted notes - ability to embed elements as well as adding a picture as a background for taking notes against a slide - ability to pinch to zoom to provide detailed free hand at a fine level, makes neater notes - needs more color options for pen - would be nice to have text boxes that you can place around a page and mix with freehand drawings.Version: 3.1

Mental Notes is tons betterJust downloaded Mental Notes 2.0 for the iPad and love what I see so far. I like being able to add images, but would love to resize them, move them and have text wrap around them. Wish I had seen this before I paid and tried PD; Mental Notes is tons better. Looking forward to the palm detection in an update..Version: 0

Some suggestionsI tried allot of notebook apps and this is the best one of them I like that i can type words and draw & also voice recording in the same page .. But i have some suggestions to develop the app more 1-i suggest to add feature to control the size and the color of the text 2-add feature to move the section and not just deleted 3- add more features in the voice record And pictures.Version: 2.6.6

Very usefulHaving tried a few different note taking apps, this one seems to have most of the best of each of them. There are still a few bugs that need to be worked out, but all-in-all this is a great app..Version: 3.0

Good appSupport for text, pictures and sound recordings, very good notes applications, like!.Version: 2.6.4

Really good app . . . and could be idealThis is a good app. Combines text and drawings fairly well, and being able to include recordings is great. Love the ease of changing thicknesses of the pen, and the ability to save as JPG or PDF. A couple of changes would make this ideal for me. First: I want a true landscape orientation so I can work across the whole screen. Right now, the tool bar is divided into two parts in landscape mode with a lot of wasted space. Second: I would like to type into text boxes, and be able to move the text boxes around the drawings. Right now, the text is blocked by the drawing, and either comes in above or below it. Third, would like a true undo option. Right now there's an eraser, but no undo. Finally, would like to be able to more seamlessly shift from drawing to text. Right now, once I select drawing, I get a new menu of options, and have to exit drawing by selecting "Done" before I can return to typing. Thanks for a great app, and for considering these changes..Version: 0

Nice appI gave 4 stars. The only thing in my opinion that is missing is the ability to write text with the virtual keyboard everywhere on the document and not be forced to write in line... For example I do a quick sketch to illustrate an idea and I want to add word with the keyboard on the picture to tag some specific spot but I can't since I can only write on the next line. Nontheless a great app. Thx.Version: 0

Could be great.I got this app to use for photo inventories. I needed something that you could put text with a photo. The fact you can draw over the photo to highlight a particular point is a great feature. This would be a 5 star app if a few things could be sorted. Resizing of the photos would be the major one. They can take up a whole page when printing out. Also when you take a photo it can overlap over 2 pages, it should either resize to fit the first page or move down to the second page. If these could be fixed it would be a full 5 stars from me..Version: 2.5.1

Impressive but needs some additionsGreat app! I have been trying to find an app that does a lot of stuff similar to the Microsoft Courier, and this app does so much of it. There are a few small missing pieces that really drag the app down. You can't edit images after they are added. I'd love to be able to shrink them, change the orientation, and move them around. Another is a fit to page mode. I have a huge problem with getting everything to fit on a page so when I export it to PDF I don't have images and such that are half on two different pages. A simple slider for changing the size and colour of the pen would help too. Overall though it really is an amazing app..Version: 0

A few too many "taps"A good app that delivers on what it promises. The tool selection UI is a bit clunky but easily fixed in a update As for the previous comment about map integration. I suspect they take a screen shot of a map and them import it from the photo collection like any other picture..Version: 0

An excellent multi-sensory app for effectively recording notesThis app has become my favorite among the hundreds of apps currently stored on my Ipad. If you've ever had a complex thought that you wished to preserve Mental Note does so in a supremely effective manner. At first one jots down a handwritten thought that tells one the subject of the note at a single glance; adding a recording of one's voice immediately following the handwritten note serves to explain the thought in greater detail; finally inserting a photograph relating to the thought provides an additional layer of understanding because as we all know a picture truly is worth a thousand words. The combination of this multi-sensory communication clearly conveys the essence of the thought to enhance and facilitate its understanding. One can vary the thickness of one's writing within the individual handwritten sections, include typewritten text for additional clarity, view the recording of one's voice as a simple line with a play button immediately following a handwritten section and see the photograph directly below the line that serves to symbolize the voice recording. There is no limitation on the length of the note because one simply scrolls down to continue additional writing, talking, and picture placement. As if that weren't enough the entire note structure can be stored within Mental Note, E-mailed, or saved to one's Photo library for quick future reference. Five stars all around!.Version: 0

My first successful Chart notesI have been trying over 10 iPad apps for note taking from Note Taker HD, PenUltimate and plently of others and finally i found an app that you can easily import photos and sketch on them and i.e. right comments, add proper formated text. Also switching between pen sizes and colors is very easy. Also love how you can delete sections on the page. Also the ability to search Tags and text contents is excellent. Adding audio to a section is very easy. I use this for taking audio notes when reviewing stock charts, excellent tool. I have a few minor issues, nothing major just having these features would make it a very polished application : Couple of things lacking are; 1. You cannot send to DropBox 2. Ability to reszie or move a image or photo around on the page. 3. Draw straight lines or circles or boxes ( preformated not free hand ) 4. Highlighter pen is always very handy and it is lacking in this app. 5. Color selection is a bit annoying in that have to cycle through colors to get your correct color. 6. Searching text within a note is great, but some of my notes are very long. It will find the note that contains the text but i need the app to take me directly to the location within the note where the text is. 7. Need to ability to synch notes with itunes or an easy way to back them up to my desktop computer as i would be lost without the notes within this application. look forward to updates..Version: 0

GoodIt is exactly what a note app should be Simple, easy to use There are only 2 down side though 1: it is good to have different notes in a "note book" rather than just in a simple list. And we can create different note books, that's most of the note taking apps did 2: adjust the size of inserted pics. Another must have thing..Version: 0

Looks Very CoolI just bought it a few hours ago haven't had enough time to test it out but still looks very cool. So far it's pretty cool I have done one note and it is pretty fun I admit that..Version: 0

Amazed it is so cheap! This has to be one of the best Note-type applications I have used. Compared to Penultimate, it has much more features and the ability to add sound recordings and images is brilliant. The only bad thing I have to say is that writing with the pen is quite tricky, so I tend to just type out the notes. But overall I would recommend it!.Version: 0

Best general note taking appI've tried out quite a few note taking apps, and this one is the best of the bunch. Flagging notes allows you to group them by category and color. It does time stamping. You can change the font type (however i wish it allowed text changes like bold and italic. Underline is not needed since you can draw it). It handles drawing pretty well, but I wish it smoothed out your lines a bit more. It does typing and highlighting. It handles search pretty well and will search for text inside the content of a note, not just the title (however I wish it would jump you to the place where the word you searched for appears). It allows you to draw on top of anything on the note, but yet doesn't get confusing. The eraser works well, but i wish the size of brush that you use to erase was bigger. The interface is very intuitive, and the design is simple..Version: 0

Very Good but could be improvedThe images cannot be moved very easily. I've had to cut text and move it around the images that way just to work around this issue. Is there an export for the audio available? Also, there does not seem to be a way to add hyperlinks and page breaks. The lack of folders for storing the notes could prove problematic when they start to build up. I don't care for how the pen tool works for toggling the colors and line size. All in all, though, I've found this to be a very useful app to keep class notes. I think this one will be my primary note-taking tool for now. I'm concerned about using it for a lot of audio recording because there does not seem to be an export available yet. I love being able to work on the notes while recording a lecture. The scrubbing does not work unless I pause the audio first and then press play..Version: 0

Love it!Awesome App! I highly recommend to anyone looking to keep day to day notes organized. I would love to see the Developers add the ability to utilize bullets or underlining of text..Version: 2.6.6

Great but needs updateThis app is perfect for the iPad and is useful to take real-looking notes with the adding feature of images and typing/drawing. I love the fact that it has a recorder. BUT I'd really like to see the app record WHILE typing or drawing. This feature I'd highly demanded during meetings and lectures. I hope it's added in the next update. Because of this missing feature I'm using another app until this app is updated..Version: 0

Keeps Getting BetterThis is now going to be my default note talker because: Handwriting smoothing is quite nice now. It is one continuous long page, so no "notebook" page turning. It handles text and photos. It can record a linked calendar event from within the app. It is available on both iPhone & iPad..Version: 2.6

Excellent lab notebook is getting better and betterThis program is a real bargain considering all of the features and capabilities. Pictures, annotations, and notes are critical to documenting lab experiments. And now with the time stamp feature, we can have a chronology of every step in our experiments..Version: 3.5

Great.............butJust got this app and love it for high school. its great because it can record the speaker and then I can take notes and draw what he draws on the board. would like to be able to record in background and use dropbox in it as well just a few things i would love on the next update.Version: 2.4

Very useful appThis app is awesome and useful. I saw it in the iPhone version and thought it would be even better on the iPad. That said, I have many applications for this app in my current position. I am going to continue to explore it's uses and see if it will work seamlessly with my other devices such as my PC, blackberry and non-Apple products. The screenshot functions invaluable. I just wished the iPad had a camera for me to take pictures and use this powerful tool..Version: 0

Nice app but how do you paste maps?It does much of what it says. However the sample pictures show a map with annotations. I could not find an easy way to paste a google map in the app. The help file also does not exaplain how this feat is accomplished..Version: 0

Love this app! Can't say I find anything wrong with this app. It keeps me organized and I love the way it looks. I love all the features that it offers and it is everything I want to keep my life organized..Version: 2.5.1

Excellent TOOLSure it has "issues", but this is a great app that allows me to do everything I need. The password protection was key for me, PLUS the ability to write and draw and for an added bonus, take audio notes. Huge for me. I am definitely making this my daily tool. I trust (and see) that these guys will continue to tweak it as any issues arise. I trust these guys to continue to try to make it better and better everyday..Version: 0

The App I use dailyMental Note has replaced my notebook. It has the features I need and easily switches from sketches to notes. The tag feature is easy to use and the app loads instantly..Version: 0

Excellent AppThis, by far, is one of the more impressive apps I've installed on my iPad. It absolutely lives up to it's description. Notes that I take flow well and the integration of audio recordings in context is fantastic. Here are a few minor things I wish could be different: - Font and size can be changed but only for the entire note; I'd like to see the ability to have different types and sizes within the same note. - Emphasis of an idea would be improved if bold, italics, underlining, or different font colours could be introduced - The ability to export all notes with the same tag to a PDF would be great. - Being able to move sections around within a note would be helpful. Honestly, the above items are a wish list and things to consider when purchasing, however this is an excellent app especially for the price it is being offered at..Version: 0

Simple enoughApp is simple enough yet has all the tools needed. Nice!.Version: 3.14.3

Finally a real good note taking and management application! This is THE note app I was waiting for! Very fast to retrieve any note, great tab system! Thanks!.Version: 0

Great App & Great SupportThe App is a great note taker enabling all types of note taking, sketching, pasting, pictures & voice etc. I was looking for an App that enabled me to make richer notes, beyond that capable with the standard "Notes" app. Mental Notes does this and much more. There are many good Apps but few great App companies. Zymbiotic Technologies has been very impressive in this regard. I encountered a complex defect relating to backups and time zones. Zymbiotic Technologies worked tirelessly with me in the UK, 7 days a week with dogged determination until the issue was successfully resolved..Version: 2.6.2

They did it!A few weeks back, I asked the developers to pass the tags through as keywords in the PDF properties. This enables me to search all my notes outside MentalNote by keyword through Adobe 9 in addition to free text search. I was pleasantly surprised that they included this feature. I'm switching to this app for my meeting notes..Version: 0
