AmpliTube CS for iPad for Negative User Reviews

Not worth itBasically anything you want to do on this app you have to buy a pack for, wasted 15 quid on the Mesa boogie amp pack which is terrible said I could get a refund within 14 days of purchase which three failed attempts later not happy don’t have loads of cash to waste on things don’t think I’ve ever been this cheesed off with an app ever!.Version: 4.10.1

MrAmplitube is rubbish. I bought the iRig. The setup worked once. Then the output level set itself to zero. So I can't hear anything. I've tried amps and headphones. The help section is totally useless and so all I have is a tuner on my iPad that will not put out any sound..Version: 3.0.2

UnhelpfulIts a real shame as the tone is good on it, but you need an account to buy more pedals & it's physically impossible to make one. It's put me completely off buying the full version :(.Version: 2.2

CostI feel the products are good, but all too expensive pay for this pay for that , pay twice . As someone said this is a toy for home use people are not stupid, in this day people won't spend that sort of cash . I don't get people today if the price was a lot cheaper and more for your money they would sell lots more, but that's greed for you . Regards.Version: 2.5

RippoffSo poor!.Version: 4.9.0

Appalled!!!! I have been fleeced!!!As an early adoptee of the iRig adapter and iPhone software full version (pre-ordering pre-launch) I find myself with a full version paid app for iPhone with no indication of follow up iPad app that I would have waited for if indicated. I am very disappointed and will not pay again for iPad version out of principle. I had hoped that the iPhone version would be updated as universal (see my very early positive review and recommendations of iphone app review) . Too greedy chaps, too greedy!!! I will not pay twice for same product..Version: 0

Lost my purchasesHad this app on my iPhone. Had to reinstall and lost all my purchases! Won't be spending any more money on this app!.Version: 2.2.2

Doesn't work with the apogee jam.The irig and other interfaces that use the headphone jack just don't deliver the goods. On the other hand, the apogee Jam is very good and convenient, utilising the dock port (use a dock connector with pass through plug to allow charging at the same time). Amplitube doesn't work with the jam, please fix it IK! Also a pain that unlike ampkit, it's not universal, you have to buy it for iPad and iPhone separately or put up with 2x scaling. Yeuch..Version: 2.2.1

Are you joking? What a useless piece of c...I’ve tried almost all of these type of apps, this is by far the worst in any dimension. Shame, this used to be a good company..Version: 4.9.1

2.2 won't stay openAs with the comment someone made about paid version, 2.2 doesn't function for me on iPad - closes as soon as it's opened..Version: 2.2

Grrrr!Great on the iPhone but feeling a little cheated at having to pay again for the iPad version. Any chance this might change or am I being naïve??.Version: 0

Digital isn't there yetI had high hopes for the convenience and fun of these amp sims, but they sound so digital, no life, no sustain, completely uninspiring. I tried a free version of Guitar Rig last year, can't say this has improved at all to my ears, but you might find these sounds useful. Using the iRig module is very noisy, although somewhat better with the amp modules in GarageBand. But the tone is such a turn off, I would rather practice without any amp or sim, than be exposed to the mojo-wilting effects of digital sims. My best advice if you want something portable that sounds great is to find a used Zoom PS-02 or similar device and use that with the aux input to practice. I play mostly jazz and blues and get some great tones out of it, enough that I dont at all mind using headphones to practice along with backing tracks, Aebersold, Slow Downer, etc. Amps sims might be okay if you like to crash along, strumming alt rock or death metal, but I imagine even people with those tastes and any degree of exposure to high quality tube amplification will find themselves uninspired. Line 6 sounds much better than this or GarageBand, but still not as organic as Zoom, IMO. But, still, must for practice..Version: 2.2.1

Crash cityI downloaded and re downloaded so many times I’ve lost count. On my iPad Pro with current iOS this app opens, sits doing nothing and then shuts down. Please fix this. Or give us a replacement app. I was looking forward to using this with my iRig Nano Amp... but no..Version: 4.4.0

No good on iPad 3Got a new iPad 3 just for recording on amplitude and garage band with a I rig ,and wow what a let down both sound distorted and feeding back whenever you and some efx . Also when playing. Along with tracks it adds the efx to the track .......? Was fine on my wife's iPad 2 that's what made me get a new 1 . Somev1 weds to sort it out . Don't buy for iPad 3 ..Version: 2.6

Does not work with Logic Pro for iPadI have the full bundle, and once I got into Logic Pro, it does not work. Ik Multimedia you need to get your act together and make this a plug-in. I have a lot of money invested in this, and it’s worthless to record..Version: 4.14.1

80% always pop up at openingI already own all in one and I payed full price at 2021 and I got always this pop up when I open the apps just to remind my self I payed to much for it. So can you make an update to erase this f…….. message when we already got it.Version: 4.12.1

Not what I thoughtThought this was a great idea to be able to play and practice in the house. Wrong.... This is the worst sounding thing I have ever heard. I want good quality sounds not hire a guitar tech to tweak my iPad give me a break. I bought the adapter downloaded the program all excited and all it does is squeal. Then I see there is another program that you can buy that from reviews says is great but now I'm going in deep for $$ ?I don't want to take a chance on because they suckered me in on this one and it stinks. Guess ill stick with my Pandora's box. Hell even my rockman from the 80's sounds better than this. Even tried different guitars all the same even with all the tweaking I did. Frustrating!.Version: 2.9.5

CrashingApp worked fine after initial install; even purchased a few effects. Recording was fine and everything worked great until most recent update. Now the app crashes everytime i try to open it. Gives a loading graphic overlayed on the amp then crashes. Disappointed because it a cool app. Tried updating my iPad O/S but it made no difference..Version: 2.2

Lame, bad integrationSo I’ve owned several IK products over the years. I just got a Duo Pro and registered it in my laptop. Then connected it to my iPad and tried to open my account to get the free software. Account not recognized! This is a familiar problem with IK: the one hand known now what the other is doing. And Amplitude CS is beyond lame: only works in portrait mode, as if the iPad were some kinda phone! I’m glad there are better alternatives for guitar amps and FX on iPad or I’d be returning this unit. As it is, there is no way I’m going to pay twice for Amplitude, as I bought it once but it won’t restore (because my account is not recognized on iPad even though it is via web browser) and, anyway, it is supposed to be free with purchase of the Duo. Hardware: decent; software: sucky..Version: 4.10.1

GarbageLarge app with virtually no functionality. Maybe my version is just buggy but none of the 3 effects affect the tone at all. The single included amp model is also fairly unresponsive. I bought the iRig and tried it out with Amplitube free. Meh. So I bought Garage band for a fraction of what Amplitube with recording functionality would cost. This app is a terrible value, even if it worked properly. Sad, since the PC version of Amplitube is awesome..Version: 2.2.2

Needs core audio supportFirst of all a word about gear: if you expect sound from the 1/8 headphone jack adapter to be as good as one going through the 30 pin digital, you are setting yourself up for disappointment and frustration. Trust me, you can hear and feel the price difference. I’m a bass player and have an iRig and an iRiffport. Actually, no, I just gave away my irig to a friend. And until Ik Multimedia comes up with its own core audio solution and enables digital input, we’ll have to settle from mediocre sound, gain and lag issues. It’s a shame really because the app is complete and well made. You get tons of tones, useful tools like a tuner and metronome, a good multitrack recording interface, and my favorite: background audio/ ios multitasking. This basically enables you to dial in your tone, hit the home button and run a sheet music app like forScore or iRealb while still hearing yourself. Interesingly enough, the free version of Ampkit enables all that, except the recording is way more basic. ! (And yes, Ampkit works with the iRiffport.).Version: 2.2.2

OkayA couple more free pedals would be good jamup gives you 6 , only delay and noisegate note enough to test quality, removd.Version: 4.3.0

Add-ons will NOT transfer to paid version!Do NOT purchase any of the additional gear through the Free version of Amplitube - if you decide to purchase the paid version of Amplitube later, your additional gear will not carry over! IK told me to buy everything again and then try to get refunds through iTunes support for the things I purchased under the free version of Amplitube. ?!?! Stooooopid! Giving the app three stars because it is a great app, but they will nickel and dime you with all these upgrades, and then make you re-purchase them all again if you upgrade later..Version: 2.2

It's ok...I bought the iRig to get a quick and easy practice tool as my wife keeps tidying away my kit and it can be a pain to set up when you just want to pick up and play. I have the free version and bought a distortion for £1.99. You get some hiss unless you turn the noise gate on. The sound is ok through my headphones. The tuner function works quite well. Biggest beef for 3 stars is that the knob functions are a fiddle, which I find quite irksome. Doubt I would waste my money on the Slash or Hendrix versions for reasons cited above....Version: 2.9.5

Beware these guys rip you offHi all, I downloaded this and then bought the Fender amps. I liked the sounds so much I thought I'd purchase the full version - you know support the developer and all that. However, I found that my Fender amps (£5.99 of them) didn't make it to the full paid version. I contacted their support and they couldn't have been less helpful if they tried. They blamed the whole thing on Apple and their recommendation was I buy the amps again. They have the worst attitude and the worst support of any developer I've ever had the misfortune to contact. Great sounds, crap attitude..Version: 2.1

Unusable toyI've been recording and playing guitar for 20 years. Guitar amp modelling on mac and pc is bad compared to the real thing but the ipad takes it to an all new low with poor audio io and bleed. This program is a toy. Noisy and unrealistic, the irig device does not help. I wasted £10 out of curiosity on the 8 track recorder only to find the send effects ARE NOT STEREO. If I pan a track left, and add send fx reverb, the reverb is only heard in the left channel! What a joke. The graphics are fantastic and I love the touch interface, but sadly it's all a smoke screen. GarageBand is realistically priced and is actually usable and practical for music sequencing. For headphone guitar practice, your best off with a cheap dedicated pod type box. For real fun or anything more serious use a real amp and stay inspired..Version: 2.2.2

AmpliToyI'll be returning the iRig I recently purchased, then deleting this app. This is nothing more than a toy, a gimmick, a curiosity. First and foremost, I would give this app five stars if my goal was to listen to right wing talk radio while playing guitar, as my blues licks were evenly mixed with the local AM radio station. I haven't experienced this phenomenon since playing an old Kalamazoo guitar through a 1965 Fender Bronco amp. Needless to say, it's not what I expect from my noiseless pickup-equipped Stratocaster and oxygen-free shielded cables. Secondly, the controls are simply a joke. Touch the gain knob and the setting is off the anywhere but where you want it to be. There is simply no way to make a precise tone, gain or volume setting using this user interface. I'll not engage in the "one star meanness" that's common on the web these days. Ampitube is an interesting endeavor, and an adventurous undertaking, but it's not ready for the big time. If you're looking for a cute toy to connect your guitar to your iPad, this will suffice. However, if you're looking for a high-quality guitar interface for the iPad, capable of doing professional quality recordings, this isn't your app. I'm still looking..Version: 2.2

Awkward first time user experience, annoying UII bought an iRig HD 2, which includes access to a pro version of AmpliTube. The audio quality is good, but the setup UX leaves much to be desired, and the pedal selection tool is annoying. Complaint #1: I followed the getting started guide that came with the hardware, and was disappointed by my initial experience with the app. After far too long, I discovered that I was not signed in to for the pro version. An indication that I was on the free tier would have saved me some trouble. Even better would be if the app had detected the device, read the serial number, and automatically signed me in. This brings me to complaint #2. Complaint #2: Once I signed in, I had to manually enter the serial number. It was easy to copy-paste from the website, but this should have been auto-detected. This sort of gaffe is okay in a startup, but IK Media is too mature for this sort of sloppy work. Fix it. Complaint #3: I cannot see which pedals I have purchased and which I have not until I click on them. This is annoying. A lock/unlock icon or a way to list only those effects which I have purchased would reduce this friction. Once the app is running, I am happy with the audio quality, but I cannot forget how annoying it was to set up. I am reluctant to buy new effects due to the clunky pedal selection tool. The hardware is great, but I am on the hunt for a better app..Version: 4.11.0

More bugsFor some reason the iRig app no longer saves recordings. As soon as a new project is loaded the take is wiped. What the hell?.Version: 3.2.1

MrGreat idea and sounds great when not getting feedback and interference, there is a noise reduction pedal but it is either ineffective or dampens the whole sound. I have got frustrated and now don't use it, can't o wrong with a Marshall amp and Boss pedals. Plus I can now read tabs on my iPad whilst playing..Version: 3.0.1

Clicks and Pops! When you spend £30 for what is an over priced connector, it is bought in good faith, with the assumption that the software will work flawlessly. Unfortunately it does not. There is an intermittent pop/click which is annoying as hell. I'm running this on an iPad 2 with the higher latency setting so there should not be a shortage of CPU, and have tried placing the iPad in airport mode. Nothing solves the problem. It is a shame because the basic tone sounds quite good and convincing, but with the clicks it is a non starter. Until this is fixed I will stick with the amps from GarageBand..Version: 2.1

Buyer Beware! This is a fantastic app. It's very polished; it looks incredible, and it works exactly as it should. The effects are great, and the 8-track Mixer is a nice touch. I'd like to give it 5 stars, and indeed I would have…if not for their very questionable practices regarding in-app purchases. If you buy the free version, begin loading it up with in-app purchases such as effects pedals and/or the 8-track mixer, and then decide to upgrade it to the full, paid version…GOTCHA! You discover that IK Multimedia will not transfer your in-app purchases to the upgraded version. You are expected to buy all of those in-apps AGAIN! They do not connect your purchases with you, the user; instead they are tied to the app. Similarly, if you bought the app on your iPad to learn how to use it, and then want to use the smaller form-factor iPhone or iPod Touch to play the gig…GOTCHA again! They will not transfer your in-app purchases to your other devices either. I was so terribly disappointed to discover this unethical practice from a company that I was initially so excited about. Don't let their "Musicians first" slogan fool you; it's clearly money first. At the very least they should have written something about this in their descriptions, so we know what we're getting into. I hope this helps someone to avoid being unpleasantly surprised like I was. I really love the app…I just don't love this company anymore..Version: 2.6

Waste of MoneySo disappointed in IK Multimedia technology. IRig and associated software far too expensive for the poor quality. Save your money for a decent portable A/D converter..Version: 4.3.0

DO NOT BUYAbsolutely the worst customer service I’ve dealt with in a long time. Bought the IRig2 HD and have been trying for two days now to get the full version that its supposed to come with it. I’ve put in help tickets that have not been responded to, and tells me the page does not exist when I try to check the status. Ive tried to call the customer service phone number in the US and it just rings, nobody answers. I’ve looked on the internet and this seems to be a common problem with their product that they don’t care to make right. It forced me to put at least one star, but if zero was an option, I would chose that!.Version: 4.7.0

FlawedIk multimedia are good. whether they are the best is debatable as part of that assessment includes conduct.. you can't expect people to pay for the same thing twice.. amplitube for ipad/ipod/iphone generally does a good job, however for me there is a llittle too much attenuation from the irig. now that's probably because i have low output pickups, like most strats i don't have double humbuckers and the output from the guitar is not pre-amped; so there should be some flexibility in the product to cater for this and there isn't. further to this the product installs on a device packed full of music so please explain to me why i can't access this resource.. at the very least in this multi tasking world i would expect to be able to start up the 'ipod' and switch to amplitube to play along. and for the music i have to 'load' why can't i control the pitch and speed? pitch adjustment forgoes the ending retuning from track to track.. and speed adjustment caters for training something which is available on the mac/pc product. other ipod guitar products can do this, and they are cheaper (software and hardware) and in those area more complete. a great product that needs more thought to make it the best...Version: 0

JunkDon't even think about buying this. Can't get a sound out of it. Wanted to get a user manual, but you have to register to get that and after 30 minutes of a useless circle of registering and password resets I gave up..Version: 2.9.5

FREE - and that's the only thing in it's favour...I use the iPad version - you get one single channel amp with a reverb, through a 4x12", and two delays. Yep, that's it. The sounds are a bit poor quality, and extremely limited - unless you pay for the extras, by which time you'll have spent so much, you'll wish you had gone for Garage Band in the first place!.Version: 2.2.2

DisappointedWas looking forward to using this app for guitar and bass but then......... I had to purchase a bass amp......fairdinkum. When using the bass amp, it was too soft to really hear through my Bose headphones and when I turned it up a little, the sound was distorted. I changed to Senneiser headphones and the result was the same. Was hoping to practice my bass quietly through the app. Turned out to be a big waste of time.Version: 3.4

Latest update a disaster!I was really loving this app right up until the most recent update. It crashes immediately after opening and refuses to stay open. I've got effects pedals I've paid for that I cannot access. Please fix this problem quickly. Otherwise, the program is great..Version: 2.2

Worthless Crap AppI went all in, the idea was nice but the app is useless. Every time they do an update you lose all of your purchases, their support is non existent and a huge waste of time. What I got was more or less tough luck, you'll have to buy them all over again. I bought the I stomp box, it too is junk. Don't use batteries, it burns through them in no time, comes on by itself and eats the battery. Junk, just like the app, and once they have your money you are out of luck. The sound, when it did work, was below average, nothing to write home to mom about, if I were Slash or any of the other big names who have signed on with these losers, I would think twice about being part of this sham fest. I have lost a ton of money on the in app purchases and the stomp box. If I can save one person from having the same experience, then writing this review was worth it. Oh and if you want this on your iPad and touch you have to buy each in app purchase all over again. What a bunch of thieves!one more thing. They only post the 3 or 4 good reviews, never the ones that tell what a scam this is..Version: 3.0.1

WARNING - IN APP DAW STUDIO DOESNT WORK.Great sounding amp modelling and effects but the in app recording studio doesn't work properly When returning to a previously created project with various guitar parts the parts become un audible and the arrangement mixed around - apparently this is a bug being fixed by IK multimedia but until fixed it's not worth paying for - currently no warning has been posted on the app description..Version: 3.2

Good app but a con as you have to buy for each device!!The app itself is nicely put together and works well however there is a con, the in app purchases only work on one device, so if you buy them on an iPad they only work on the iPad, you have to buy them again on an iPhone!! Normally in app purchases work on any iOS device for the given apple ID, but not this app, you have to buy everything twice!! Really disappointing and isn't made clear at all in the advertising!.Version: 3.2.1

Rip offWay too expensive. To make it useful one has to buy a ton of IAP... Garage band does the same and better. Waste of money.Version: 3.3.1

Beware Hidden CostsHaving bought the iRig hardware, I had higher hopes for this necessary app. Whilst the sound is quite nice, the included amps & effects are very limited. To add more is way too expensive and there is no try-before-you-buy option. It’s no good saying that the cost of real pedals and amps is very high in order to justify these silly prices - this is not a replacement for real gig hardware. I would like to see the developers try a different (lower) pricing model (less margin, but much higher sales, I reckon)..Version: 4.11.0

Little DissapointedIt's not a bad app, but when I originally bought the app I purchased it on my iPhone. I later found out that if you purchase the iPad version, all purchases load to the iPhone. However, it's not the same the other way around. Ik Multimedia did install some in app purchases after I contacted them, but after Apple updates, etc., I found that I have to install the free version and none of my purchases installed after restoring purchases. Also, be aware this company is sickening with adds trying to get you to purchase their other products. Although you've purchase the product you will be interrupted by their adds..Version: 4.0.1

Absolutely UselessI've been a professional musician/producer for 20 years, and I thought this might be useful for small gigs… I was wrong. If you have no guitar amp whatsoever and you want something to screw around with… this app would be fine. I bought the iRig, downloaded Amplitube FREE and bought a couple of stomps. It's really worthless for anything other than sitting in your room jamming and even then, not for me. It's like fingernails on a chalkboard. I'm sure this app would be useful to some but I wouldn't under ANY circumstances pay $20 for the full version or recommend it for anything other than novelty purposes. This is just my opinion….Version: 2.2.1

Horrendously badOk, Its as simple as this......garageband is way way better- the recording is so much easier to operate and ok, this has some good sounds, but big deal- for the price they charge, its a rip off- dont buy this and stick to garageband instead. I feel cheated and I want my money back. It's so hard to record a full track on this one that the sound quality just doesn't seem as important..Version: 2.6

CrachesJust can't use it anymore, crashes as soin as i open IT.Version: 2.2

If the App would only work as intendedI am really disheartened that for iPad this app has no sound output, even after doing a bunch of troubleshooting and finding the hardware works with software not made buy the manufacturer..Version: 4.4.0

DisappointedI purchased the Orange amp pack (through the app which was a big mistake as now App Store has no record of the purchase which will make seeking a refund difficult) and it didn’t come with two of the advertised pedals which would have made a huge difference with the mediocre distortion and terribly uncomfortable feedback(highway drive and noise gate were missing), both issues which do not exist on real Orange amps. The core app when plugged into GarageBand puts the GarageBand controller on top of amp controls so you cannot configure certain amps while plugged in. It’s poor, lazy coding. Hundreds of hours and unnecessary ear ringing later and I’m back at square one with wasted money. Just save it all for the real thing even if you’re using a bad mic on a bad amp, as even a bad real thing will trump these awful digital tones. I am totally aware of the inherent fundamental limitations of an iPad and digital tones but this is just that bad that it exceeded my rock bottom low standards going in..Version: 4.11.0

$$$ put your money elsewhere...Prepare to put your wallet to the test...there is nothing free here....if i had known i would never have bought the irig pro. At the price for a full irig go buy the real thing. And once you registered the damn thing, you cant send it back.... And i never could figure out why there is no sound coming out my macbook pro with AmpliTube while the GK free version sounds wonderful? I am really disappointed. For a 200$ interface i would have thought that the version of amplitube would have enough amps, effects and studio equipments to use, wich is not the case. Plus, i sent an email to there customer service department....never got an answer... still waiting... I will stop here.....Version: 4.4.0

Fun appI am finding this app very handy. I had to adjust the settings to get it to play in the background so I could play along with music from my library or you tube on my ipad. To get to play into my amp I had to get a guitar lead with a small plug at one end and double quarter inch leads at the other. I plugged one end in and the other hangs loose. This worked fine but I would rather use my amp's own sounds when jamming. The pedals and amps that go with it are good enough. However I purchased a Fender Twin Reverb (a simulated one through the app) The reason for three stars are : a) the in app purchases are expensive. B) I can't get it to work with garage band Otherwise a fun app.Version: 2.9.6

Good but missing an important bitI have this on my iPhone as well, and the iPhone version also has a recorder, and the option to upgrade this to a 4 track. The combination of decent amp models and effects, and the 4 track recorder make this a decent package. HOWEVER, the iPad version does NOT have the recorder for some reason. For me this cripples the software and reduces it's usefulness considerably. If it had the full 4 track recorder built into the iPad version I would not hesitate to pay the 12 quid for the full version..Version: 0

Craches, no supportWhy can't IK support the IODOck? Pointless....Version: 2.5

Would give 5 stars if...I could choose inputs. I have a PreSonus box thing that has 2 inputs.... Guess which one the guitar is and guess which one this app forces the box to use?.Version: 4.7.0

CrapPiece of crap crashes as soon as it opens, if you can't get the free version to work, there's no way I'm paying for the full version. I rate it -10 stars..Version: 2.2

Does not work reliably with modern iPad ProGot this hoping I could use my iRig Stomp pedal board, but it only works about 1 time in 10,m if you’re lucky. In theory, you’re supposed to be able to connect an iPad Pro via a USB-B to USB-C cable but, in reality, this will only work about 1 time in 10. The rest of the time, the iRig Stomp I/O will not recognise the device at all, and the app won’t let you add/edit pedals. On the rare occasions it does work, the sound is incredibly tinny and poor quality compared to the desktop app. If you were planning to use AmpliTube in a gig, reliability is paramount… which is probably why you never see anyone using it on stage (certainly not with an iPad)!.Version: 4.14.1

Rip Off!Like others I too pre ordered the iRig and bought all the add on fx I wanted for the iPhone. I complained to IK about having to pay twice for the updated version for the iPad but was told that they have not only brought the graphics up to iPad spec but tweaked the software as well. Personally I don't hear a difference that warrants paying for something twice. If anyone else who has had to buy this app (or the add on amps and fx) twice and feels cheated I suggest you leave a low score and a brief comment here to bring the rating down as a protest. This will be the last IK product I buy from the company. Only a matter of time before NI and Line 6 come out with comparable iPad apps anyway..Version: 0

AmplitudeGlitchy. Does not work as indicated. Controls don't work properly. Sometimes the app just refuses to work at all..Version: 4.1.1

Way too much money for what you get....I own amplitube for the mac and this is not at all like the computer version. I bought the full iPhone version and was disappointed with the quality. I thought I'd check out the free version for the iPad and it's no different. I also bout the iRig interface and while it seems to be the best out there, the $40 price is ridiculous. Word of Warning: Months ago I bought the PRS iPhone cable and it's CRAP!!!! ($30) At least the iRig works and doesn't crackle and pop like the PRS cable. My feeling is that this software is half baked. IK Multimedia is a good company and they put out really good audio software. I'm hoping that this will get better. I'm not investing anymore (like buying the iPad app) until I see it....Version: 0

Where's the stuff?I love amplitube for desktop, but this makes me sad. Very limited selection of gear. It's understandable that the free app comes with hardly anything, but what's there to buy is very small. Worse, there are no samples and no way to try them out, so you buy something based on the name and hope it's what you wanted. There has to be a way to know what you're getting. Buying an external device doesn't help as much as you think either. I registered the irig 2 and ended up with three amps that all sound the same and five generic pedals, including what comes free. For the good, there aren't any latency issues or popping and the software runs solid.I see a lot of potential here, especially if they can sync accounts or give more to desktop users. Once they add more diverse gear and some way to hear or demo gear, this would be great. Until then, keep this as a fallback app and use something like bias fx or tonestack to put your money into..Version: 4.1.1

Everything is locked behind a pay wallI can’t even make tones and no free distortion.Version: 4.14.3

I have lost the last project that i'm going to......Since the update I have lost countless hours of work and precious tracks that I needed. It's not my iPad, it's your program. I will record some thing only to find its been erased randomly later. It's not my methods, it's your program. I have spent lots of my money on in app purchases that I cannot use because they are associated with an unstable program. I want my money back and intend to pursue this matter until it is ALL refunded to me. This was good money poured into an unstable un-usable program. I will be pursuing other more stable apps such as Auria etc to replace the amplitube that I once enjoyed so much.. and when I find Amplitubes replacement, guess whats coming off my ipad.. It's your program.......Version: 3.2

IOS 7.0 glitch?Sound output stopped working after iOS 7.0 upgrade...even after reinstall. Also just purchased the Slash pack, was anxious to try it out, but now can't...frustrating! Want money back!!!.Version: 3.1.1

Rip Off - Boycott the developersComplete rip-off. They make money on the I-rig and then have the cheek to charge twice for the same product. Don't listen to their cr@p about graphic tweaks for the iPad - minimal cost to them. If you really want to make a difference, boycott their products, encourage others to do so via FB, Twitter and tech blogs and write to the developers telling them that you have done so and will continue until they change their pricing policy. Hitting them in their pocket is the only way these greedy developers will change..Version: 2.2.1

Not badDrums sound better than garageband however get a digital sound when played at low bpm. 4.99 for 8 combos is rough though. difficulty in removing sections of recorded tracks..Version: 3.2.1

What have you done???This used to be awesome. Then it was updated. Now I have to pay extra to hopefully get the sound I had on stupid mic placements and cabs. I'd delete the app but I've spent about $100 on in app purchases. What a scam..Version: 4.0.1

I just lost 200$It use to be a great company. I asked for a refund the same day and apple refused to refund it . DONT BUY IT.Version: 4.11.0

Un usable after update! This app used to work well but after installing the update for the tuner it stop working. The app had to be re installed. First it was not letting me download my purchase expansions. Mind you I bought the Slash, Fender, Hendrix & the 8 track recording studio. I didn't have access to any of them. I open up a ticket with IK & after a couple of days the reply with instructions on how to fix it. Then the app was not saving my recordings, I open another ticket with IK & they told me they knew about the issue & they advice me to stay tune for the next update...Really, they had no issue taking my money when I purchase the expansions & now I have no access to my features that I pay for. Let us shout & clap for apps that take your money & then they droop you when there are problems with their software!.Version: 3.2

Not working on iOS 15!This just crashes out on iOS 15. Don’t update if you need it, I’m stuck now. IK - fix this up please!.Version: 4.12.0

CrashJust downloaded the update and it crashed after 30 seconds...seriously do these apps get tested before their release? Very apprehensive now about purchasing the upgrade..Version: 2.0.1

What about bass??Just got an iRig and I am quite disappointed that there is no bass amp on the basic application. Bass sounds pretty poor through the one guitar amp supplied...I was a bit happier when I noticed you can actually switch off the amp.....Version: 2.8.1

Rip offSo I went and bought an iPad specifically to use Amplitube after I had already bought it (the full version) on my iphone (which they ripped me off too, read my review and explanation for iPhones). I thought I could download it and have all my purchases! NO!!!! They not only want me to repurchase it, they want me to pay twice the price for the same thing, just a bigger screen! Are you kidding me?! Well, you ripped me off! That's ok though, cause I just went and got the cracked PC FULL VERSION for FREE through a download! It's way better than the iOS in all respects, I didn't pay a penny! Man karma is a b**** ain't it? Looks like I'll be using my iPhone for the next while. Maybe when I see their 50% off I'll think about it.....Version: 4.3.0

Great idea but.......A fantastic idea but there is no way I'd trust this on stage. Great idea to buy pedals, use iPad as stomp box replacement but on plugging into my amp as a test, the quality was dire. I use a good aer acoustic amp so high quality. I also sent my irig back for same reasons. I guess there will never be a replacement for pedals. This may be ok for mucking about at home but I wouldn't regard it as good enough for stage work..Version: 2.2.2

Great app but needs to be able to run in the backgroundThe tones this app produces are great! I use it with the original iRig and I have had no problems. I not wish the app could run in the background so I can flip to other apps that show my PDFs so I can read the music on the iPad and play at the same time. That would make this app perfect!.Version: 4.0.2

Update for audiobusWhen are you going to update to work with audio bus? Bit disappointed, as I've made in app purchases..Version: 3.3.1

Scared the poop out of me!I was about to test this on my speakers but then I heard a lasern fx even though the lasern fx dis able or whatever you call it was on!.Version: 2.0.1

Read the reviewsHello IK, You make pretty good products. You know you do. I own Amplitube 5 for my Mac and it’s great. It’s been worth every penny and more. The Fender amps sound great. When I bought an iRig 2 HD for practice and making stuff on the go, I got Amplitube SE, with only a handful of pedals and amps…fine. You guys aren’t Apple. You can’t give away software for free to make your platform more sticky. But the upsell. Oh goodness, the ads for IK stuff, every time I open the app! We’re amateur guitar players, folks. You don’t need to convince us to buy more gear and plug-ins. Let me enjoy the thing I just bought without trying to sell me again right away or make me sift through amp and pedal menus cluttered with stuff I didn’t pay for yet. Put a store menu in the main menu. I’ll get over there eventually, believe me. So, I’ve deleted this app. Going to use the stock stuff in GarageBand. Which actually might not sound as good. Anyway, great products, keep up the good work..Version: 4.14

Crashing after update? Remove and reinstallI also tried to update the app for the hendrix update and found that it would not open after the update. I followed the advice from another reviewer by removing the app entirely, downloading in iTunes, and then reinstallating in my iPad. Seems to be working fine now - not the way updates should work but at least I have functionality back. I don't see any of the Slash in-app purchases in the "store" but since I had purchased them earlier they were loaded following my "restore purchases"..Version: 2.8

Won’t openDid an IOS update and nothing Amplitude works. App won’t open after IOS 15 update. Wow..Version: 4.12.0

IK Multimedia products are difficult to useI'm extremely frustrated with IK Multimedia. I bought the iRig HD 2 and it was not working. I found it that they were packaged with faulty wires. After going back to Guitar Center and picking up a working wire, I follow the instructions (which seem straight forward) only to find that the product isn't working. I can see the Blue Light is turned on when I plug in the lightning cable into my iPad Pro, but I get no sound. What's even more frustrating is that you can't find any tutorials or help online on the iRig HD 2. Save your money on the iRig and this app - use the money to buy some hardware..Version: 4.4.0

Peter_PFA useful app. The Fender add-ons are a good approximation of my Fender Blues Deluxe amp. Lack of Bluetooth support for headphones is a major omission though..Version: 2.9.6

Crashes all the time. This seems like a decent program, but it is impossible to test it out fully (i.e to see if it would be worth the full price). I have managed to get it to stay open, by tapping on the screen as soon as it opens (it asks whether you are using headphones or speaker), but it crashes if I look at it funny.... or if I switch apps.... or pretty much anything. Oddly enough, the (free) Fender version works. I would recommend GarageBand (at $5) or AmpKit over this app, but between AmpKit and this app, they are money pits if you do all the in-app purchases (for stompboxes, mics, etc). GarageBand doesn't have as many fancy things (less goodies for more serious types to play with, but plenty for someone just messing around), but you get way more (IMO) for way less..Version: 2.2

Need to pay for iPad and for iPhone separatelyThe software is good but you will have to pay when you download the iPad and iPhone apps separately. This is the first app out of about 100 that I have purchased where I need to pay to use on an iPad and on an iPhone. I could not find where this is stated in their product information section..Version: 3.2.1

Not goodWhy does this app crash ALL THE TIME. Had a hard time opening app at first. Reinstalled, then had trouble with the interface. I click "add gear" and the whole app shuts down. It's a good thing your app is buggy before I give you my hard earned money for more pedals. Won't be buying the full app. Sad thing is I spent $40 on the little device to plug my guitar into this junk app. I hate to be harsh, but this is just ridiculous for an app expected to demonstrate professionalism. Hope I can take the iRig back for refund. Two stars for concept, but bad execution. Get a new developer..Version: 2.2

Unusable👎I have tried a few effect apps prior but fancied trying this one so I installed it. Well all I get is hiss.... It doesn't even give a clean signal upon which to record before you start.. i cannot entertain paying for effects to add on to this app if it's just going to sound like a tyre going down...so... I go back to an app that doesn't hiss....you lost me.Version: 4.3.0

Great idea but not convinced enoughCould have been great but get's overly concerned with making money. It offers nice features and a really plush interface which looks great on my iPad, but then comes the sting. You can buy individual effects pedals and amps or buy multi-pack deals, which are not too badly priced but they certainly add up. Then you can't use them on other devices, literally if you want to play with your iPhone, iPod-Touch or Mac-book version then you need to cough up for them a second, third and fourth time. Very disappointing since Garage band offers similar virtual effects and amp emulators for a fraction of the cost (free with your mac-book of course) and if you are going to pay over the odds you may as well buy Logic and have the whole shebang. A great idea ruined by greed basically. Not worth investing in the full paid version until they sort out the portability!.Version: 2.5

Good for some things...Used to love this app and still use it for a few things. Love the effects more than GB (hands down this has better ones) but there's been a few issues over the last five months I've gotten away from this for. I actually use it as a 'recording app' because despite its pretty nonexistent editing functions, those effects are too hard to stay away from! But here's where it goes yuck: in the beginning, you could isolate a track (solo it, whatever..) but now even muting the other tracks and soloing a track there's still some bleed coming through which is ridiculous. Even if you record with this to send to GB or DAW to edit, those other tracks are there which makes it pretty useless in a way. The other thing is the drums. Great that there's drums, of course; but there's always that one step where I have to turn them off before recording something without drums. The other way around would've seemed to make more sense. So apart from those things, this app gets my three stars despite its cost because it has great effects and used to record really well. Fix those other things and it would have four. Get some sort of decent editing interface and I wouldn't use another app because this would be the best in the universe. Yes. The universe..Version: 2.9.5

Not bad, but lacking.I’ve used AmpliTube Mac for a long time as well as on iOS. With proper tweaking, it does a good job. My main gripe now is that the audio output does not recognize AirPods as an audio device, which could greatly enhance the usability of this app. Secondly, there are too many add-ons one must buy. There should be an all-inclusive bundle that isn’t overpriced, considering we are talking about simulation of real gear on a device that typically has an inferior audio path compared to a pro recording studio..Version: 4.4.0

Pretty useless reallyDownloaded this app hoping it would be cool. Instead it is annoyingly self contained and unable to talk to other apps- eg no Audiobus support. For the money (and it's not cheap to buy all the amps, fx etc) it should have come with a basic drum machine. Instead, IK only offers a somewhat unsteady and uninspiring metronome. Some of the amps and presets are not bad (not great either) but there's nowhere else to go with any recordings. Moreover, almost every feature of Amplitude costs extra and so by the time you get all the add-ons, you will have shelled out quite a bit of money - money better spent on some of the better stuff out there. I think if IK Multimedia were to bundle SampleTank and amplitude into a DAW with audio recording capabilities, then, they'd be onto something, instead of selling a whole lot of next to useless toys. That said, I really like SampleTank despite it not supporting Audiobus, but I don't get the poor quality of the rest of their products. In short: give this one a miss and save your money!.Version: 2.8.1

Ikmultimedia what a rip off, make it universal.I can't believe ik are charging twice fir this, the app SHOULD be universal, a very bad move..until this issue is resolved I for one will never buy any ikmultimedia products again. Greedy greedy greedy.!!!!!.Version: 0

Too marketing heavyI purchased this some time ago. Their effects are very good and the product is good. However, ads come up, some of the gear is locked, and they continually ask for more $$$. This is very annoying. I tried the desktop version but sunk about $600 into it and still can’t use many of the presets. For the money you are better off scraping the software and going to a multi effects pedal. You will spend more time playing guitar and less time finagling with things that don’t work without sinking more money..Version: 4.12.1

$.05 and $.10They never sent my key to unlock the distortion box. It made the decision to uninstall the demo pretty easy. The stupid business model where they just keep charging you to release one feature at a time combined with apple's poor design decisions (why is there no mic input?) make this a big fat waste of money. By the time you are done being nickel and dimed you could have bought a nice headphone preamp. The developers seem to be dazzled by their own fancy graphics. Just because it looks like expensive music gear doesn't mean it's not still just a $2.00 app..Version: 0

Decent, but a couple deal breakersThis is pretty good, and I want to get the full version, but there are a couple major problems: 1. The iRig is noisy, so you pretty much have to use the noise filter with anything high gain. This is understandable. But the noise filter kills your tone. I don't know why this can't just use a gate or expander like most noise reducers. 2. All effects have to go in front of the amp. I want my delay to be after the amp (or in the amp's effects loop) but there's no option for that, so delay on a hi gain setting sounds like total mud. Until these are fixed, I'll stick with GarageBand..Version: 2.2.2

More like iRigged to get your moneyOne pay wall after another even after you buy stuff. Bought the fender bundle which was marketed as all the fender gear but it only gives you some of it. The drum looper has split second gaps making it too frustrating to play with, and the US is super confusing. If you drop sections and try to put them back in it asks you to buy them again. The sound drops out a lot and you have to dig through tons of settings to get to work again. The irig HD-2 uses the lightning port, but doesn’t have a port to plug power in. And go figure, this capability cost an extra $60. Returning this junk and just using a real amp. This app could be great but I’d rather spend my time figuring out my music than how to get the app to work..Version: 4.5.1

HomedevVery poor. Have persevered with this for several weeks now, but excessive noise, a Uni-vibe that has now stopped working and general lack of quality in the tone means I will be uninstalling. My expectations and requirements weren't high to start with but they haven't been met..Version: 3.0.1

Potential but buggieSpent day 1 trying to get any guitar sound out. Several re-starts and google searches got that sorted. Day 2 and it's stuck on the same sound effect no matter what fx pedals Or amp choose or adjust.Version: 3.2.1

Don't buy it!Until they fix the massive multitude of bugs these programs are loaded with this program and all the related apps are a complete waste of your money. If you want to shell out a whole bunch of money and be completely frustrated than you have been in a long time be my Guest other than that stay away until you see some positive reviews. In theory this app looks great and will probably be a good product if they continue to improve upon it. Considering I spent more than $100 on this app I hope at some point I am able to use it and replace the equipment I was hoping to..Version: 3.2

BPM cannot be changedThe BPM function for the looper cannot be changed. You press it and there are no potions to change it from 120bpm. It’s as if the bpm choice wheel has been taken out and all you get is 120bpm. Might need an update. Ok for what it is though I wouldn’t buy the full version..Version: 4.14

No soundThere is no sound the second time I use it.Version: 3.0.1

Rip offI started using this app on my iPhone , made a bunch of purchases for some extra gear. Just got a iPad and none of my purchases are transferable and I got some bs excuse from tech support on why I should pay for them again. Bogus..Version: 2.6

Unstable and unreliableThis app used to be fantastic, replaced my analog rig when I added the stomp io to it. Now it just freezes all the time! Glad I don’t gig anymore because this app is totally unreliable..Version: 4.14.2

Horrible supportThis app has promise, but bad design and glitches make it likely you'll blow out your eardrums, as the input/output level settings reset after the app crashes and restarts. I posted the problem on the developer's user forum and they wrote back blaming the problem on the cable setup I had on the iRig. But I had this same setup going for a year with no problems until the last update. I posted again saying the problem is with the settings being reset after a crash, causing high pitched modulated feedback, and they deleted my whole topic thread. So that's how they handle bugs. Beware..Version: 3.4

LOW QUALITY APP & POOR CUSTOMER SUPPORT!This app is the worst I have tried. Don't get ripped off and misled like i did. If you want a 1960's reel to reel recorder where it's hard to do drop ins then you might like this app. There is no undo option, they offer mastering capabilities but you can't mix your tracks, no audio copy/paste, the tracks bleed sound into each other, it's a difficult to navigate interface, and you're iRig device is better used with any other app. The worst part is it will cost you about $80 with in app purchases to get enough functionality for you to realize that this app is incredibly limited. It will take them years of upgrades just to come close to their competitors. Don't expect the paid version to be any better either, they're identical in every way. The customer support is even worse than the app, so don't expect any assistance if things go wrong. Be warned, steer clear of this companies apps and products, there are far better ones out there for a fraction of the cost, with good customer support!.Version: 2.2.2

Crashes so often, I can't buy it yetI love IK Multimedia. I own iRig and love it--works perfectly. I own iKlip. Way over-priced, but I love it, too. I want to love AmpliTube and am chomping at the bit to purchase the full version, but the free version crashes on start-up 7 out of 10 times and mid-use 6 out of 10 times, so until there's a bug fix that addresses that issue, I'll continue to use my iRig with iShred and PocketAmp, neither of which measure up to what AmpliTube COULD be, but at least they function reliably. If AmpliTube worked, I'd more than like buy Sonoma's DAW app for iPad, even at $40. but right now I'm not taking the risk. So many complaints about crashes for so longs, and no action taken by the developer to fix the bug? Adds up to lost sales for IK Multimedia and increased sales for Peavy. So far, though, AmpliTube Fender Free has worked fine, so I just bought that. still waiting for regular AmpliTube to get its proverbial crap together. This could easily be a 5-star review. Shame it's not..Version: 2.2

Beware of iOS 15 IssuesI’ve enjoyed using the app so far since I bought an iRig 2 HD, but since updating to iPadOS 15 yesterday the app just does not open. At all. I’ve tried reinstalling but no luck. Really hoping this is resolved soon..Version: 4.12.0

If I had only known how aggravated I would become!Received my Irig HD2 today. Setup on my iPad was okay, but have been unable to unlock the “FULL” version. I have entered my Serial number at least 20 times but to no avail. Went to install on my Windows 10 pc and it wouldn’t download AmpliTube due to “Setup was unable to create the directory C:\users\Shop\Documents\IK Multimedia” along with others in the same vein. After several hours of this along with pop ups wanting more of my funds I have said to hell with this. I was just hoping to record some of my guitars and songs and have some fun with this. There is no “FUNl”. Tech support is sadly disappointing. After going online to request technical assistance and filling out their form I was greeted by the following: Error - Please check your fields and resubmit: Invalid characters used in Message field. They don’t make it easy. No success. Maybe later. Prepare to be aggravated. I’m thinking about finding an old reel to reel after this..Version: 4.11.0

Updated iPadLost all my in app purchases No way to get them back except to pay Sorry you will never get another cent from me Try stompbox, its much better and you will never lose your gear.Version: 2.2.2

Can't buy fender bundleBeen trying for days to buy fender bundle but says "this bundle is currently being modified" Wish I could actually buy something.Version: 4.1.1

UninstallingI have been a fan of ik multimedia since the groove maker days on PC but this software is unusable for me with the constant prompts for purchasing other software products and libraries. Continual bombardment interrupts the creativity flow. What were they thinking - how best to ruin a decent piece of software. Customers have already dropped $149 bucks for the iRig! A real shame..Version: 3.1.0

Greedy Developer! RATED - 10! BE WARNED! NO iPhone Purchace Restore!I've purchace all but the fender pack on my iPhone before I got an iPad, So if IK Multimedia think I'm going to buy them again they are living in dream land and can go target some other poor fellow! If this rating had -5 i would give it, it does not work with Alesis iOdock either so because they want you to only use their mike/headphone jack, so thats another -5 stars. There will not be one developer who will get me paying twice for something, so put a restore purchase button and STOP RIPPING PEOPLE OFF! APP DELETED! I'll live with x2 mode..Version: 2.2.2

TrashIf the app didn't crash every time upon start up, and I didn't have to re-download after every use and wait 20 minutes it'd get a better rating. Until they fix this broken app, unworthy of anyone's time, it's a piece of garbage that shouldn't you shouldn't bother trying..Version: 2.6

Very poor sound qualityI am very upset after spending money on different amps etc coz the recording quality is soo bad ... super bad quality sound.Version: 4.10.1
