AmpliTube CS for iPad for Positive User Reviews

Nice app, but needs improvementI also noticed lots of noise, which can only be overcome with the noise filter. The signal from the guitar is rather week. It is nearly impossible to get a clean, undistorted sound. The distorted sound however sounded ok to me, and it sustains. PocketAmp is better: no noise and easy to use interface. The iRig works fine, it's ok for the money paid. Considering that it is a free version I gave 4 stars. I am hoping for improved future versions before spending $ 20..Version: 0

It's a good app, I like it.Yeah, it can be pricey; be careful when high as fuque on a payday. I usually run my iRig2 through my Sony headset for practice and a 40 watt DOD to either soothe the beast or rattle the neighbors, depending on mood. I'm cheap, so I've been putting off on getting the HD but I'm seriously considering it. I play everything from jazz to church burning with lots of different folk and they're either impressed or, well, impressed. I've no idea why the low rating - it's worth the money, I've never had a tech issue (running through my iPad, smoothly), and I'm not a bot. So there..Version: 4.6.0

Good but could be better..Now I love this app but I've used their other software on the pc and they have missed the boat on one area...the presets. It should be possible to share a sound and download presets to the apps ( should you have the correct pedals in your repertoire of course). If slash can endorse his gear, where's the van halen/vai/lynch/zz top packs ......? Get cracking amplitube and I'm sure you would sell bucket loads more of your pedals etc if you could get an out of the box setup for your favourite guitarist......Version: 2.9.6

Amplitude rocksI have been playing guitar for about 12 years, and I got this over a month ago with the irig and it is great. There is a hiss if you do not use the noise stomp box, and if you unplug anything while the app is open you will get bad feed back that is hard to get rid of without deleting and reloading app. If you can follow instructions this think rocks, I even play it through my amp and jam with my friends in the garage. It's loud enough for a garage band. I still have not tried it for the Itouch but will soon then it will be totally portable. Good luck and jam on my friends..Version: 2.2.2

SPSNZWhat a fantastic concept.Great sound quality as well. One suggestion though. If you haven't yet ,All you would need is to build a blue tooth pedal board with volume and Wah capability and it would be perfect for live use..Version: 0

Io dockOk now how about making it compatible with the Alesis IO Dock. I realise that you don't want to affect sales of the iRig but I'm afraid the crosstalk issue means it just ain't good enough for the 8 track recorder.Version: 2.2.1

Reason I bought iPadI wanted a bass and guitar amp cause I had no amplification. Great app..Version: 3.1.2

Back on top where it belongsMuch better this version! No more error messages about not being able to play songs, and the Drum Loop addition is excellent. Nice one!.Version: 2.9

The work ikMutimedia put into the app has really started to show...I bought this app in 2015 & upgraded it to the full version in 2016. I’m writing my review on this CS version since I can’t write it on the full version. After getting the Slash, Hendrix & Orange packs I liked Amplitube, but preferred ToneStack from Yonac. The tones were okay but just too fizzy & digital for my tastes. I saw Greg Koch demo the Fender 2 collection on the desktop version of Amplitube and immediately wanted it for this iOS version. When it arrived I was blown away how far the emulating tech had come, and using the Fender 2 pack is a joy. I’m not saying the older amps aren’t usable; there are several amp/pedal combos from the earlier packs I’ve made good presets with. But the Fender 2 stuff is just in a different league. As I write this in mid April 2018 there’s a bundle sale going on, if you haven’t tried the app or Fender 2 I really recommend it. I’m no cork sniffer when it comes to amps, i.e. they must be tube, 50 years old, wrapped in tweed, etc. but I have a late ‘60’s Deluxe that this app comes very close to the ballpark indeed. Especially just a SM57, close mic’d rhythm tone that cleans up with some volume backed off...they’ve really captured that mic’d guitar amp tone. Highly recommended..Version: 4.5.0

Ignore bad reviewsNever mind the griping. This is the future of practice amplification. Where on earth are you gonna find an amp collection anywhere near as cool as amplitube? I think it sounds I little warmer and richer than positive grid products. I will say that I like the pedal selection and a lot of the functionality of bias fix 2. Too bad for competition... we’ve yet to really get a masterpiece of an app... but this concept is really growing... hardware is starting to develop. I’m grabbing an ik amp with the interface... gone are the days of underwhelming practice amps..Version: 4.10.1

Won't switch offNo way can I switch it off now! It just constantly runs in the background draining the battery! Had the app for a year but why has it only started doing this in this version? Very annoying having to power down the iPad every time!!.Version: 2.9.6

LovelyI think it is a great idea to have a lite version cuz it is free.. Thanks Ik.Version: 2.1

The hate isn’t justifiedI started out with just the free version but quickly upgraded to the essentials pack (basically paying in full for the app via the other one in the store) once I realized the capabilities of what I could achieve for a fraction of the price and in a mobile form (via my iPad). The ability to bring my instruments and iPad with me for practicing with limited space more than made everything worth it. My only issue is I can get some feedback at times, but with some fine tuning and tinkering you can find the sweet spot. All in all a good product with a few money making ideas (which I feel are justified) for the quick use and portability..Version: 4.8.1

FantasticI love this app. Now with the multitrack recorder and vocal processor coming what else would you need. Would love the ability to export to mp4 though..Version: 2.0

Excellent value for money...it's free!If you've got an electric guitar and an IPad, get this ap, and of course the iRig to connect it up. It's a lot of fun, sounds good and reasonably versatile. I will probably upgrade to the full paid version; at £14 it's still 'a bit cheaper' than any amp I've ever owned! I'd suggest it's best to go all out at once rather than add to the free ap by in-ap purchase. I've read some of the negative reviews here. Some people have enormous expectations without getting their wallets out. For example, I have no experience of mixers, so the included mixer for me isn't entirely intuitive; but I can, and should, learn! If you're a guitarist, just do it..Version: 2.2.2

Good ideaThis is a good app but since the new update non of my effects or amps works.Version: 2.0.1

Love it!Sounds great, works great, easy to use, nice interface. Give it a try!.Version: 4.14.1

Great (Alternative) way to play without......Great way to play without having to spend $1000s on am-s and pedals and sound effects . Everything you need in one app. Yes it does cost money, people want are complaining like it supposed to be free!! Its well worth the money and sounds like the real thing(too its counterparts). Amps, pedals, sound effects, mics, and so on. Stop complaining people. Its well worth it..Version: 4.7.0

Great!Love this app...except it's missing major function like record!.Version: 1.0.2

Great app HOWEVER...Currently NOT supported on iOS 8. Once a newer version has been released, then definitely get this app. It's very, very useful and makes practicing/jamming anytime, anywhere very easy. If you already own this app and are fortunate enough to read this before having updated to iOS 8, then WAIT until they've released a fix for this or you will lose the use of this app until it's sorted..Version: 3.3.1

KNobsFantastic but..... Struggling with the knobs. Very painful to adjust. The iPhone app seems so much easier to adjust these than the iPad app. I just can't seem to get the hang of it... Love the sounds....Version: 0

It's just great!!!It's just great: loop drummer!, studio recorder!, rig- everything is awesome! Great app!!!.Version: 3.2.1

Fantastic for free!I've just installed this app and played around with it for about an hour and think it's amazing for the price - nothing beats free! I also installed Amplitude Fender too and the same applies. A great app and once I've had a few days playing with this one I'm pretty sure I'll upgrade to the paid version..Version: 2.8.1

Back on the (Audio)BusAt last the developers wake up and restore AudioBus support, beating JamUp and AmpKit. Now, what we need is a really great delay effects pedal. Nic.Version: 3.4

Amplitube freeI think is good for what it is! I also would not use this on stage but as a way of practising on my own and jotting down new ideas it's great. My brother and I write together but live 70 miles apart. When I get inspiration late at night I just plug it in an there's a quick demo I can send! There are much higher quality production units available but I don't see this as a replacement just an addition. A bit like an iPad won't replace your laptop or pc! However, the tuner is great when doing acoustic gigs as I might forget a pedal but never leave home without my iPhone!.Version: 2.2.2

LOVE IT!!!Amplitube is just what I needed. I got an irig HD and Amplitube with in-app purchases. At first everything started to add up quick with the irig HD for 100 then amplitube with professional sounding amps and pedals I spent about 60 bucks for the amps and pedals so altogether $160 for everything. Now I don't need a jam group I just go to buzz tube app and look up a blues 12 bar backing track or jazz, rock, ect. And jam anytime with just my iPad and irig / Amplitube and guitar and if I want to sound louder or just better quality I plug in my Computer speakers to the iPad, and even at night with my head phones. I recommend this app for anyone who loves guitar but can't pay thousands for good guitar equipment like Orange, Fender, slash and Jimmy Hendrick's amps and special effects pedals. I'm using an old electric guitar that a friend gave me that sounds horrible through my cheap Amp but sounds amazing through Amplitube!.Version: 4.1.1

AmplitubeIme getting around this wonder full app I just discovered a frequncy adjuster in the studio oh my god it's fantastic to pitch the tone it to that how did he do it yes Ime sure I beet them at there game now and start to impress my self oh yes my self it's to good to give it away but dam it I will share.Version: 3.2.1

Great product, 4 stars because...This is an awesome app. being able to take my ipad for an amp instead of an actual heavy and bulky amp? hell yeah! bad reviews look biased, nobobpdy talks about uninstalling and reinstalling the app. but i cant say that for sure because i just dont know. no problems here, perfect for my acoustic electric and great for my electric too! 4 stars because i think the $30 for the iRig component, should provide you more options when downloading the app. like using a serial number upon downloading for registration. it probably only costs a dollar to manufacture the iRig itself. That just seems too hefty a price to still pay for any extras in the app. but it works great!.Version: 3.2

Needs AUV3 support for Logic Pro for iPadThis would be a great plugin as an AUV3 with support for Logic Pro for iPad!.Version: 4.14.1

Decent but lacks one needed featureI love this app, and able to process with the right mixing a decent thick and doomy sounding tone, however it really needs the ability to dual run with other apps. I use notion to compose and tab tracks first hand and like to play along with them before entering the studio to make sure I'm timing it right. It's app I can't do so. I can do it with other amp apps, but are either noisy as hell or I can't seem to get the sound I'm looking for for what I am spending. Please update for allowing it be ran behind other apps like other alternatives on the App Store.Version: 2.8.1

BrilliantI just got started, but what an amazing product already. I went out and bought an iRig to hook it all up, and it just worked like a charm. So cool on the big screen :D.Version: 2.0

AmplitubeWithout doubt the range of software and hardware these guys produce and update regularly is awesome. As a musician the quality of the vocal and instrumental gear and audiobus compatibility makes it a no brainier. Well done guys keep up the great work.Version: 3.0.2

Great appThis is a quality app and I'm thankful there's a free version. Having said that, I know the developers are proud of this but c'mon fellas bring the prices down for all the add-ons! They're outlandish! You'd probably make more sales. As much as I love this app I have no intention of purchasing anything in it until the prices are lowered. Which is a real bummer because I'd love to have all the goodies. Seriously, guys. Help us out here... or at least kiss us on the mouth before you bend us over. Thx.Version: 2.5

Great soundsBeing a novice guitar player, I thought I would try this after finding the IRig guitar in an electronic store. My setup consists of a Tanglewood Evolution Electro Acoustic Guitar and Marshal acoustic amp. I am absolutely sold on the sounds and experimentation it offers. Noise and feedback are not an issue as these are controllable and some of the effects are simply amazing especially the Fender pack add in. Add the 8 track recorder add in and you have a great all round effects, drum looper and recorder for a fraction of the cost - not counting the cost of an iPad. Absolutely brilliant, it can even make me sound good..Version: 3.0.1

Pretty goodOverall a pretty good app. The sound quality it prety good. i use an aux audio cable to plug it into my amp so that i can use the effects and with a little tinkering of the settings can get good sound quality. As for the option of loading songs onto the music player to be able to play along with, it has one major problem. If you try to play along with songs loaded to the in app music player the stomp box and amps effects are also applied to whatever song you playing and it sounds terrible (ie. If your playing along to a song and using the distortion pedal or the gain is turned up on the amp it distorts the song as well) pretty much useless. So either use the app for playing your guitar, or use it for playing songs, not both. And for that - one star. But overall, i would dl it again and i use it often..Version: 2.2.2

AmplitubeLove this app it's so handy no more amps taking up space works really well with the irig mix.Version: 3.1.0

Nice app, sort of strangeOnly sounds good with my triple pick up hollow body guitar but maybe thats just me. can you not just delete a recording if you dont like it also? do you have to record over the track from the beginning or something? very strange, i suppose ill figure it out soon, i think the recording system just needs some user-friendly improvements. i have the full recording package, the effects setup pertaining to a certain track is sort of weird, can you not change effects without changing them all? is that what that single switch is for, its not really clear but it is clear you cant go back if you apply it thats for sure! an effects demo capability would be great too before you spend $2 on something you may not even like. its a nice app though, keep up the good work and if you're reading this to decide if you want to download or not, do it!.Version: 2.2.2

Latest upgradeSeems like a worthwhile upgrade. I had problems with it crashing at first, probably due to lack of space on my iPad, but all good now..Version: 4.0

Cool appReally cool app so you can take your guitar and iPad or iPhone and jam really anywhere really.Version: 2.6

Why are ios newbies allowed to write reviews?First off, anyone giving a free app a one star rating has too much time on their hands - why whine about something you didn't pay for, and don't "need"? I use an iRig interface, and for the most part, it works perfectly in every app I have ever tried it with, Ampkit, Studiotrack, Multitrack HD, et al. Every time you install or update an audio or music app you should restart your iPad/iPhone/iTouch, everyone has known that for two years or more. Finally, this app only gets better - re-amping, fender upgrades, vocal removal, time stretching - and you can get the basics for free. Latency is low, quality is high, and these are tools we couldn't imagine having three years ago in something so portable and affordable. As for the guy with the radio stations coming through? Dude, you know that iPads and iPhones can multitask, right? Or are your fillings loose? This app would be five stars if they could add audio copy and paste, but otherwise it is an insanely good deal at the price of FREE..Version: 2.2

Great app! Improve metronomeGreat app, now I'm able to record my ideas and put everything together to compose. I'd suggest to improve the metronome, the first highlighted click is very necessary so maybe an option to activate it (on/off), and the other thing about this to check the accuracy of the metronome. Once I exported a song with metronome and at 160bpm and I imported into a protools session and the 160bpm of amplitube is slightly delayed according with the protools session (I noticed after 3 mins of recording a dispair) so please check this out.Version: 3.3

For the ones that Crash or does not work.O.K. I haven't had the best of luck with this IK IPad Free Ample Tube Downloader. At first it worked great. Then I put it down for a month, came back after recording on my Desk Top Cubase & Studio One, and found that it stalled Frozen. But Why? I did everything right, what is going on? I played with it for hours to get it going or find out why it froze, then it dawned on me it was a free download in the first place. So I went into my manager and iCloud and Deleted the old one. Then redox loaded it again. Now it has been working fine. No problems as of yet!! So my advice to the people who have been having problem like I have encountered . Just Deleted, then the first redox load again and you should be o.k. Sometimes even the new software is at fault and IK should be more resourceful to ensure that these problems get fixed and never show up again . If IK wants to keep their Clientel. But for everyone who has had that very same problem. Try Deleting, and redownloading and see if that helps you!!.Version: 4.2.0

5 stars!Definitely an app you wanna have on your device!.Version: 3.2.1

Great app !!!I needed to jam, so i recently bought i guitar and bought the iRig and started to play right away. The free pedals that come with it are really easy to use, and when you find the find combination you can get some really cool sounds. I bought the overdrive pedal, and when you add some delay on it, it is perfect. You can load up tunes from your iTunes and play along with them. Perfect for me, so i can jam along to my new album, new possibility for a live show. Sometimes it crashes after you load up songs from itunes, maybe they can fix this..Version: 2.1

Killer app, loads of funYou get what you pay for with this. It’s super fun to have a noodle and be able to play with effects you otherwise don’t have. Of course it’s not going to be as good as a pedalboard but you can’t blame the app for that. The prices are high but still much cheaper than actually going out and getting a phaser pedal just for fun. All in all, it’s worth a few quid to have a bit of a play and does pretty much everything you need it to. Could do with a few more mic options but who am I x.Version: 4.11.0

Just WOW! :)The sound is fat and great for an free apps ! with irig, this is very high! a must!.Version: 2.9

Please helpMy Irig doesnt work when i connect it to my amplifier or even to the headphones. i dont know what to do.please help.Version: 4.1.1

Great song learning toolOK… so the effects are not "stage quality". There's a slight delay from the pick to the earphones. I have been using the iPhone version and have just downloaded the free iPAD version to see if it makes good use of the additional space. The best part? Playing along with a song to learn it. It has a A-B loop so you can isolate a solo - for example - and play along with it over and over. Unlike the other reviewer, I didn't notice any effect from the guitar input overflowing into the song I was playing along with. I had strong distortion on the guitar and the song I was playing along with came through clear as a bell. Other cool feature: If you import a stereo song, it has a vocal remover. Downside: You have to import the songs into it. It will allow you to select songs from your iTunes library, but it converts them to its own format so they essentially take up "double space" on your device. Overall, I really like the free edition. I'll keep using it until I can no longer live without the $20 paid version..Version: 2.2.2

Please fixI cannot click the menu button in the bottom right hand corner.Version: 4.14.2

Brilliant! This is just what we've been waiting for. Combined with the i-Rig guitar input and a pair of quality headphones, we now have a awesome sounding practice setup that won't disturb anyone else in the house or your neighbours. With the in app purchases of different effects and amps available there is really no limit to what you can achieve. Get this app & one of the great I-rig inputs, and Get Shredding! \m/ >_< RTFO!.Version: 2.9.6

About "Crap" litubeI just started playing around with the iPad version after working with the Mac software. So far, I am having great luck with everything that I have tried on the iPad version. From my short experience thus far, the "problem" with importing from iTunes is not that it locks you out. The "Done" button does not highlight after you select a song from your iTunes library. Select a tune and go ahead and press the still grayed out "Done" button. For me, at least, the song is converted to WAV format and loads right into Amplitube. I own several homes and taking my iPad, iRig and a few guitars to move around and simply write and rehearse is much easier than dragging a practice amp and a load of pedals. I have even quit bringing along the DigiTech and Korg modelers! Not sure about the problem with the sound through a "good" set of headphones mentioned above. Everything sounds great through a set of Bose noise canceling 'phones! As for the effects being applied to tunes being played and not just the guitar, the effects are only applied to the signal coming in throughout the "jack". Tracks that I have imported from iTunes are unaffected while my guitar plays as dirty as I care to make it. Again, just MY experience but it has been a good one! I am giving this a 4 star vs. 5 only to leave myself room to be even more impressed as I use it a bit more! Give this free software a try ... as "Bluto" said in "Animal House" ... "it don't cost nothin'!".Version: 2.2.2

Acoustic pedal AppGreat app for practice while I work away from home on the mine site for two weeks at a time any chance of an acoustic pedal for acoustic guitar practice with out upsetting my neighbours in our temporary workers huts (aka donger). Also a chord chart would be good when you import a song. Love the speed app for practice cheers Brad..Version: 4.0.2

Keep an open mind hereI have read a number of reviews complaining about the cost of the stompboxes and effects and that the company just wants your money. Keep an open mind when trying an app like this. You get all kinds of great functionality for pennies compared to what it would cost in real hardware. There is no comparison. I like Fender amps so I bought a bundle of them. I needed a set of the typical effects (delay, chorus, overdrive) and was set with about $15 out of pocket. I needed an octave pedal, got one for another $4. Also, do yourself a favor and check out the videos of pros using the app. There is a good one for the Stomp IO that gives away a couple tips that are worth your time. For example: dime the volume on a Fender Twin Reverb and get all the tone and gain w/o killing your ears or your audience’s ears. I always complain that I can’t get my amp up loud enough to really get the tone I want. Well, now I can..Version: 4.6.0

Other reviews are idiotsWorks fine. Limited because it's free but works great. Will be buying full version when my irig arrives..Version: 2.2.2

Working like a charm.I added the 5th star from 4 after getting back into tracking. I need to get used to the varying degrees of gain staging again. It's been awhile since I've used amplitube and it seems like the signal is either really hot or not hot enough, especially if I'm trying to record any clean tones. Seems like that's because there's some discrepancy between levels at all stages of the signal path that don't necessarily end up at the same levels that they initially sounded like. With an initial line in, then an amp level, then your effects that can drastically effect your levels, the track volume level, and the post effects effects level (without compression I lose lots of volume here) there's a lot of staging. But that's just something to get used to and I haven't even checked the forums to see what might be protocol. Bottom line is I prefer the UI over any other ios multitracking app and the effects sound much more like effects .. they can get noisy, but that's not a big deal either. (I'm a big fan of using the looping feature for accidental tracks also) Thanks again for getting the cloud iap thing worked out. That's what I was trying to do last time I used the app, but it sounds like any and all bugs have been squished. ITS ALL GRAVY. THANK YOU AMPLITUBE! As promised the 5th star..Version: 4.4.0

Remove Free from iconI love this app because now I have a portable amp. I've bought some of the panels and it's pretty cool. Just to keep my desktop more sleeker remove the free word from the icon..Version: 0

Fun to use.The IRig HD2 with a pair of amped headphones sounds pretty good. I can practice anytime without interrupting others. The other apps are fun too use. Some are a little pricey but they sometimes have 50% off specials..Version: 4.3.0

Excellent butHad free version installed, purchased full version. Opened free version which was still installed and bought inapp 12 dollars or so vocals package via free app. Uninstalled free app, now I lost the inapp purchase. Upon attempting to download inapp purchase again, it's prompting to pay again for something I already bought. Also bought the fender package, 15 dollars or so. Uninstalled both free and paid app and now Both fender and vocal packages have disappeared. On my other iPad same issue, lost vocals purchased via inapp in free, even though the full app is available on both iPads. Net result, no inapp paid purchases, asks to pay again when attempting to redownload inapp purchases which I already paid for once. What to do?.Version: 2.2.1
