✓ Has PromiseThis application looks like it has great potential. It would be great if it included the Direct TV slimline dish as a standard for the US customers. Lots of European antennas but no common North American Antenna as a default. Also I can find no way on Ralf's website to contact him with suggestions or questions. I had to use google translate to read the german webpages, but could find no contact information.UPDATE - newer version has the direct and dish antennas and link for support. ✓ Satfinder - 5 stars!!Great App. Works well in various locations in Victoria, can't wait to try it out in NT & Qld. Have experienced trouble previously in WA where satellite is very low in sky, with result that trees would often block signal. My signal meter would indicate strong signal but no picture or sound resulted. This App should fix this problem for me as obstacles are clearly viewed on-screen enabling alternate dish location to be tried. Very easy to use once correct dish height is entered, problem of dish interfering with compass when resting on dish to adjust elevation can be overcome by briefly removing iPhone, waiving in fig 8, then re-attempting adjustment. Well worth price..Version: 2.5
✓ Canada Ontario Bell user happy with app!I'm not one for writing reviews but felt compelled to do so. I can't speak for all phones using this app or all the different dishes out there. I have a IPhone 4s and Bell is my provider. Choose galaxy 17 / Nimiq 1 by checking it off from a large selection of satellites. Once you do that your set. Extremely simple to use and I am a complete novice at these things. I bought this to set up a portable dish while traveling in an Rv or Cottaging in ontario. Works every time for me. I hope this review helps another bell user from Ontario in choosing this app..Version: 2.6

✓ 737 pilotThree point seven five stars! Initial impressions- pretty impressive! Works very well on my iPhone4, with a few limitations. To set up, you just set your dish dimensions, pick the satellite, then off you go. It uses GPS position and the phones electronic compass. Elevation appears to be spot on- lay it flat on the dish in the centre and it's right on the money. Excellent! I'm impressed! Bearing is affected by the dish itself (just as ANY compass will be, electronic or otherwise), so move a metre or so away in front of the dish (or any other large steel objects), use the finder to pick a spot on the horizon to aim for, and then you know where to point the dish. Pretty straight forward IMHO. A few bugs but not bad! (The "check obstacles" page, where you point the camera towards the satellite, doesn't work for me at this stage- satellite image wanders all over the place.) However, well worth the money as far as I can see at this time, and I look forward to seeing how it goes in different locations and also look forward to a few minor bug fixes. LNB skew would be nice! (please....) I would very happily give it five stars if the "check objects" function worked and LNB skew were provided. (I can see no way around the problem of a steel dish affecting the compass when close.).Version: 1.8

Aligning the satellite dish when setting up the caravan had always been a hit and miss affair- even with supposed sat-finding boxes with buzzers and needles. ✓ Great AppHaving a touring caravan, finding new satelitte positions when we set up can be a nightmare. It's not fun having to move the whole caravan just because you suddenly realise a tree is in the way and the lead won't stretch any further. ✓ SatFinderDoes what it says on the can, made finding the satellite I was trying to get really easy. Really like the way you can specify the width and length of the dish so the offset it right. Only problem is it needs to have Optus D1satellite added, maybe one option would be to allow users to input their own satellite data so you could add any new satellites. ✓ It don´t work properly on my iphone 4I am on Argentine and the aplication do not working properly. by example: hispasat satellite (30w) appear with 180 grades of diference (as I was living on EEUU). from Argentina, hispasat is localizated on azimuth from North 40.03, elevation 38.55, skew 30 grades. Also only show satellites in the list that are above the horizon for your location, it's pointless trawling through a huge list when it could be cut down to only those you could actually receive! The only problem I've had is the iPhone's compass giving a rather vague (and constantly shifting) opinion of which way is North.
