✓ Stop the long adsThis used to be bearable as the ads were short. Now they are so long that you get booted for the game! You can’t click the x to quit the ad, it just takes you to the App Store then back to watch the full ad. A waste of time now..Version: 5.36
✓ Gone downhillI used to love this game, but the long and noisy adverts have made it unplayable. Sometimes I get booted off a game because the buttons to exit the adverts (after having watched and listened for 5 seconds) are small and take you to the App Store instead. The other problem with this game is that the lower score players are so bad, if you get stuck down there you have a long climb back to get into the higher scores. All the lower-score players seem to want to do is get rid of the queen of spades, regardless of who gets the points / so ending games far sooner than they should end. That’s the not issue with the app though, just stupid people. I also think that people who drop out of games (making us wait for at least a minute) should be penalised as well as the people who use the ‘leave game’ button. Just stopping playing is so rude. ✓ Can’t finish a game without an adThis game has a mechanic where as if you take a certain amount of time to make a move you get booted, that’s great right? I understand the need for ads in “free games” the only issue I have is after every single round there’s an ad, and as we all know there is usually a difficulty in “x’ing” it out. The problem occurs when the above two are combined. If you’re in an ad You can’t escape from (or maybe you actually like the ad and want to know more about it? Isn’t that the point of ads? To encourage us to click through them?) guess what? You’re booted from the game for taking too long. I supposed I could pay for the game and be done with ads, but it’s a common problem even with other players. Does the game actually want you to look at the ads? It seems either you look at an ad like their advertisers would WANT, or you quickly try to x it out and hope you were quick enough to avoid the auto boot timer. My suggestion... make the ads after the game is completed so you can actually look at an ad without worrying about being booted..Version: 5.21

✓ Well they went and did itI love(d) this app and was ok with the endless ads that display at the top of every screen and in between each hand. However the ads in between hands have now turned into videos so imagine having to watch a short video every two minutes to keep playing a game. It’s extremely frustrating. It’s like watching TV only to have a commercial break every few minutes. ✓ STAY AWAYI played this game as a pastime and got sick of the cheating or whatever kind of algorithm this app uses. I can tell it’s not real players in every game. That, plus the hands are definitely dealt at random. I don’t mind losing a few hands or a few games, but there is no way possible that one can end up with a sorry hand with each deal, in back to back games. Or, whatever you pass, you get passed right back…in back to back hands. At some point it just gets ridiculous. I like certain parts of this app, but it’s too frustrating to continue. ✓ Warning for users of this gameThis game is OK but the ads after every single hand are sneaky. The ads are long so you are tempted to click on the cross that appears on the top left hand side but if you do it opens, in my case, Safari web browser and then proceeds to try to load the advertiser’s web page. This is a total invasion of privacy, how dare you take over my iPad like a virus in this way, I should be asked at the very least if I want to open a web page. So to counteract that you have to wait an inordinate amount of time then click the cross in right hand side corner then back to game. To play this game without ads costs around $AUD33 but still has in-ap purchases I suppose that is to play online if you think you are good at the game..Version: 5.35

✓ ...Seven years ago I reviewed this app (which, I believe, was under a slightly different title) with four stars, saying that the AI was good and the banner ads unobtrusive. Well, time has not been kind to this game. I wouldn’t have guessed it was a Hearts game I’d played before, except for the little “cloud” icon showing it was in my library. The look is different, the feel is different, the use of ads much more aggressive. Look, I don’t mind ads for a free game, but the worse the game, the more irritating I find the intrusive ads. And in this case, the game just feels shoddy. The biggest problem is how slow and unresponsive it is. I have to hit cards multiple times to select them, sometimes they hang up for a few seconds before playing, there’s nothing smooth about the way the graphics unfold on the screen. And my iPad is only a year old—it’s not an outdated technology issue. I’m not sure how good the AI is at this point, but it’s hard to care when the rest of the app is a struggle..Version: 4.12
✓ Same add strategy repeatingJust downloaded the game, the same add plays after every round I assume to frustrate you to buy the paid version. ✓ Major Internet Problem!Internet issues practically anytime I play!! And it’s not on my end! I can tell the other players are struggling too. The worst part is it plays for you and it usually plays the wrong card! Just quit a game I was running and the server of course goes down and plays a low heart! ✓ Enjoyable gameThis is a good game, challenging and free to play. The only issues I have is there double adds come up, the icon to close the adds is really small and the location is always changing. When you try to click on it, the App Store will open. When you finally get there adds closed and the cards are dealt, you have 2 seconds to pick your 3 cards to giveaway and a blurb comes up on the screen “Hey, it’s your turn!”. ✓ Unstoppable ads often boot cause timing outYou are forced to watch video ads after each hand, some can’t be stopped or closed out, which causes you to time out and getting booted from game. The latest, an Intuit ad. This is a common occurrence. Most ads require two clicks to close, this and others could stopped. Most players good but too many quit after getting set or losing the lead. Points awarded to winning player and often reduction of points as much for losers who play out as it is for quitters. Need a Hearts (and Spades) games where you can block such players from future matches, Backgammon does offer that..Version: 5.46
✓ Awful multiplayer and intrusive adsI️ get you need to monetize apps but holy cow is it awful in this app. They happen after every round, some play music or audio which should be allowed to be toggled off, and the x to close the ad is tiny and in a different random corner so you always look for it in the top right but your thumb has been sitting on it in the bottom left. Should be required to be in one and only one spot. And if you miss click you need to close out the entire app sometimes. It took an hour to try to add my girlfriend so we could play on a car ride home and even that wasn’t enough time to figure out the adding someone else online. There’s no search feature or even find local via WiFi or Bluetooth option so I️ honestly have no clue how to add her without forcing to log into Facebook that I️ don’t want to do. Also I’m too lazy to update to iOS 11.1.2 so sorry for my I’s being I️.Version: 4.5

✓ Fun gameSomething seems off in the game. I play tons of games where almost every game round will be 25-1 between 2 players and cycle that behavior across players all game. Other oddity is if I’m even remotely close to or in the lead, it feels like computers intentionally gang up to get me the Queen of Spades. I’ve started numerous games where I take the queen the first 5-6 hands. I’m not a pro but I’m also not terrible so this just seems completely intentional. Also seems like I start a ridiculous number of hands with minimal spades but 1 K, A, or Q of spades and low cards from other suits with them so it’s absolutely impossible to avoid taking the queen. ✓ Dont waste your timeThe scoring system is completely jacked and the entire app is fraudulent. I have played an entire game and only taken 3 hearts the entire game, yet the other players are being slammed in the game, but somehow someway I am the one who loses at the end. The system cheats and I guess if the predetermined bot doesn't win via game play, they will let them win regardless at the end and there is nothing you can do about it. Such a fraud. ✓ Sensitive policeGame used to be great until they started chat banning people for the most innocuous comments. If you chat, you always have to watch out that you don’t offend some snowflake who melts when you call them out on their horrible game playing. They’ll report you and then quit. I was chat banned once for actually calling someone a snowflake. Oh, the irony. The other major problem is people quit on multiplayer almost every single game so you end up playing the horrible AI that doesn’t play like a human at all. Of course the penalty for quitting is just about non existent. You get banned for like 10 minutes, whereas chat bans can last for weeks or indefinitely. If they would only add a block feature, the easily offended could block those they find offensive and decent players could block quitters and horrible players. It they won’t do this because they’ve never done anything to improve the game, it’s only become worse..Version: 5.21
✓ Ads are Super Obnoxious and a Rip-offThe ads are ridiculous. It’s not so much that the ads themselves are obnoxious. That’s business; you develop a nice game app, you capitalize on it. What’s obnoxious about it is a number of ads have such a small and narrow precise point (X) in which to kill it (once the X becomes available) that more times than not you end up inadvertently clicking on the ad. You then have to click back out of the app store, which takes you to a Safari window for the product that was being advertised; then you can click back to the game. This is super annoying for the user and a huge ripoff to the advertisers who, more than likely, are paying a premium when someone clicks on their ad. By making that kill spot so small and precise no doubt they get tons of unintended clicks they have to pay for; clicks from people like me who have absolutely no interest in the product they’re selling. ✓ The Most Unrealistically Cheatingest Game EverWhen I downloaded this, I hadn’t played Hearts in years. With having to remind myself of strategy, I somehow won 3 of the first 4 games I played. Since…I have literally not one once! Tell me that’s possible. As you get better at strategy, you become MORE INCAPABLE of winning. It’s not real. Because somehow they make it so players have the exact cards they need to keep you from winning. I’ve never played a game anywhere (and that’s saying something, because I’m looking at the wholly unrealistic cheating Backgammon game on my phone right now) that sets up its players to lose in every conceivable manner the way this Hearts game does. It makes it simply un-fun when you can have a hand or two go well every game but ultimately you know you’re gonna get hit with something so unrealistic for a few hands that you know that you’re never going to win. Like the Backgammon game I’ve mentioned earlier, I’ve stopped believing I’m ever gonna be given a chance to win, so I’ve pretty much stopped playing. ✓ Good Game, Could Be BetterI love hearts, one of my favorite card games of all time. This is a great app, simple and easy to use. However it gets only 3 stars for one simple reason. The rated games seem to only go to 50 points. 50 point games only ruin hearts. It removes most of the strategy from the game and turns it into a game of duck. For instance if someone shoots once, you’re probably going to lose. If you eat the Queen once you’re probably going to lose. I’ve played hundreds of times ranked matches and if either of these previous conditions are met it’s something like a 95% chance of losing. Isn’t playing hearts supposed to be about strategy and manipulation of the outcomes of each hand? With the way it’s set up now in ranked there is 0 of either. In a 100 point game you CAN eat the queen more than once to stop someone from shooting and still win with a high probability. The same goes with someone shooting. With 100 point games you can be dealt a bad hand or a few in a row and STILL recover to win. In a 50 point game LOLOLOL. All you’ve done by making ranked matches 50 points is take almost ALL semblance of strategy out of the game and make it all about luck of the deal. You’re not ranking ability of the player, but luck of your dealing algorithm. Please please fix this. Allow for 100 point ranked matches and 3 stars will EASILY become 5. Until then you’re lucky to get the 3 you got..Version: 5.20

But more and more people keep quitting in the last round when they know they’ve already lost and once one person quits, so do the rest because nobody wants to wait 30 seconds for a player to get booted when they already know they’ve lost as well. That usually leaves the person who’s about to win hanging for 90 seconds just to finish the last 4 cards. It would be better and I feel like it would keep people from quitting if there were a penalty for being booted/quitting a game. Maybe double the amount of points they’re supposed to lose? Instead of -7 for finishing but losing, -14 for losing and being booted/quitting. Just an idea. I know a few guys that have switched to a different hearts app because of it. ✓ Long ads are brutalOver the last couple updates, I’ve noticed about one longer ad per game - maybe running 15-20 seconds? Multiple times now, I’ve been booted from the game for inactivity due directly to the longer ads. By the time the ad is over, I’m only given a second or two to pass my cards before I’m booted. No way longer ads make anyone buy the advertised app or whatever. ✓ Unrealistic PlayI've also noticed the same frustrations described in Miyoji's 08/23 review. Hard mode *used* to be a challenging but fun game. Something changed about 2 months ago that now makes it unrealistic. Up to that point, I was about 4 wins short of 40% first finishes on over 1200 games. Since then, my first place ratio is down almost 10%. I've noticed that my hand has been unable to avoid the QS in at least 33-50% of the hands dealt. I'm dealt the QS in most of the remaining hands, often as the only spade. The frequency of the QS getting dropped on the first play of a suit or having to be taken with in a 4-3-2 hand is noticeably higher. I enjoy challenging opponents and play, but this just defies the laws of averages..Version: 4.4

✓ I’m tired of quittersAs other reviewers have said, there’s not enough of a “punishment” when people quit games. I always finish games no matter how crappy I’m doing, but the last game I played two people quit and I still ended up with the lowest score! That makes no sense! I finished the game but two sore losers who wouldn’t stick around end off better than me. I’m deleting this game, it’s dumb that people can quit and not get penalized more. Oh, and when players quit, you get stuck with an AI character who can predict every single move and is impossible to compete against. I understand you pretty much have to have an AI character fill in, but again the remaining players are the ones penalized by having to play against an unbeatable opponent and risk getting crappy points. ✓ Not random enoughThe solo setting is a mindless game that is nothing like playing with actual players. The coding is easy to figure out, and it makes it both frustrating and easy to beat. Even in hard mode, other “players” will duck under a second heart lead and fail to split hearts. And almost always, the pass gives you primarily clubs and high spades, so you can’t really void yourself no matter how clever you are. The low cards are almost always evenly distributed, so a 4 will often take the queen. I get that it’s difficult to simulate actual game play, but this is a really unchallenging game that is both easy to beat and clearly programmed to make a solo player lose...not a great option for improving your skills..Version: 5.30
✓ Glitches ruin the experienceWhile playing I often either get stuck in an add that won't close and the players boot me from the table. And recently more than once my entire screen changes to vertical (portrait) instead of horizontal (landscape) and I get stuck and can't get my screen to flip back to horizontal and can't see all my cards, and I ALWAYS have my screen lock set to ON for portrait orientation meaning this should never happen even if move my phones. I also just noticed we have to pay to play now and with all the constant adds it's annoying. And the ads are often flashy which is horrible for some people with health issues such as light sensitivity, migraines, epilepsy (can trigger seizures), etc. I used to like this game but it's getting worse and not better, especially with the glitches that get me booted from games and I lose my token..Version: 5.49
✓ Improvements neededFirst off, too many people quit rated games if they don’t get off to a good start. They need a larger ratings punishment for leaving, the system should “tag” repeated offenders making it harder for them to be accepted into rated games, and perhaps they need to be locked out of entering another rated game for some period of time. Really ruins the game when people quit. Live scores should be shown under each players name, and the pass direction should be shown during the round as an easy reminder. Simple fixes would make it much better. Ads need to be more consistent. Instead of whatever random “close” button used, ads should just be a set time and then automatically return all players to game (would be great to have a “No Ads” option). Users would likely pay more attention to ads if we were rushed for time to get back to game before being booted, or have a button to express interest which follows up after game has ended. ✓ Need help.I have tried to add feedback and get help in the app. It says I need a mail account. I don’t know how to sign up for one since I use gmail on my phone, not Apple mail. I wish there was an account tab where I could put in my email for this purpose. We use the app to play Hearts with my partner’s senior citizen parents. It’s the best app we have found but the problem is they can’t always figure out how to escape the ads between rounds and eventually one of them often times out. Alternatively if someone loses hold of their phone and accidentally hits the “boot” button on a player, they are immediately booted. It would be helpful if there was an “Are you sure you want to boot this person from the game....” pop-up, OR (even better) if you could re-invite or re-add the person back into the game instead of having a random person (or Watson) added to the crew. I’d love help with these issues instead of airing my frustration here. I wish I could write the company myself. Sorry if this is a negative review. We love the app when it works but tonight, for example, it was a problem and we had to restart 3 times and the third time we had to stop because my partners mom’s eyes are so bad she was getting tired. ✓ Best Online VersionGood graphics but the game needs to be faster, much faster. It takes too long before a player is booted for stalling. On the same vein, there’s very little disincentive for people to NOT quit. Someone quits in probably 75% of the games I play, sometimes two people. They might be able to reduce that number if they allowed players the ability to reduce their score after a moon. Considering that the games are only to 50 this should be mandatory. The other way that they could reduce quitting is to severely punish the person that does quit. They don’t need to suspend them, just deduct a minimum of 30 points when a player does quit. They could distribute those points to the players that remain in the game. Yep, definitely had enough of all the people quitting. Game is no longer enjoyable..Version: 5.47

✓ You can’t play against AII felt like I was getting the Queen of Spades a lot, so I played a few games while tracking. Nearly 3 out of 4 times I wound up with that card, and on the handful of occasions I did not I often got the King or Ace. I’m a fairly experienced Hearts player. On the number of occasions I was winning, there would always come a time when I got dealt multiple bad hands in a row. One time I was 40 points behind the other three players and still lost, because the AI decided I needed to get the Queen and no other spades several hands in a row. I assume there is a way you can create a hearts program and NOT have it rig the game. I learned hearts years ago on a laptop version that seemed fair. Won some, lost some. Just wait. You’ll think it’s not happening to you. Then about a dozen hands in, once the AI figures you out, you’ll lose again and again and again..Version: 4.30
✓ Definitely lots of cheating in this gameI’ve played for hours and hours and it can be annoying when players drop out prematurely after a bad hand. The penalty should be far higher. I don’t know how but there are definitely cheats playing too. I’ve seen the same players play different tactics as if they can see your hand. I know some players take their time because sadly they’re manually card counting but some play odd cards you wouldn’t play if you were playing well unless you could see the other players cards. I’m not talking about the odd chancer. These are highly rated players who regularly score zero throughout by playing against all the odds. Get lucky one yes, two three times in a hand it’s suspect. ✓ It cheatsI have enjoyed playing, however in the process I’ve noticed that the game cheats. The opponent will not follow suit, apparently meaning they have no cards to play in the same suit; then in the same hand, the opponent has a card to play within that suit. It is frustrating to play, because it is not a fair playing field. I would recommend trying a different app if you genuinely are trying to play a fair hand of cards to pass your time. ✓ Problem game.When playing in competition, adds comes up during the game, it prevent you from seeing the cards played. When you try to close them another add window opens and it get hard to close all of them, by the time you come back to the game, you have been kicked out. After a few time getting kicked out, the game won’t let you play saying you’re blocked for leaving the game too often. Game is not bad but be prepared to hang around nearly every game because of quitters. Very feeble attempts to deter these. The designers should address this problem but not in their interest. Currently a player can quit after x amount of games with no penalties, currently about 5 games I think. Then they cannot join another game for about 5 mins. Then they can quit several more times before time penalty increases. Subsequently you are left hanging around every game waiting for the bot to take the quitters place, which destroys the game as bot just dumps the Q of spades onto any player. It’s annoying when players leave the game early, but what is far more annoying is the ads. After each round in the multiplayer game, it forces you to watch an ad. Sometimes the ads will make you watch for 10 - 15 seconds before you can figure out how to exit out of it. Sometimes you can’t even figure out how to exit out of the ads. I have been forced to forfeit many games because of the ads. A handful of times, the ads have been nothing but white…with no way to get back to the game. It is the norm for a player to quit mid game in just about every game. I strongly suspect the ads are largely responsible. If you guys can’t have the ads working properly, then please ditch them. But I cannot figure out the scoring when the jack of diamond option is on!!
