The AI quite clearly knows your pieces and it is incredibly frustrating when for instance, mounting an attack for the opponent to launch across the map with a scout to hit your spy you've just bought into play. ✓ Pathetic AIThe AI will not form an attack plan. It only counter punches. This makes it very easy to control the game. Don’t want them to come through a side? ✓ AI CheatingHere is my story: Not one piece touched my bomb, but it was out in the open. Just so coincidentally, that bomb was concealing my flag. And maybe just lucky (For the AI) happened a level 8 miner (or level 2 I think for those who play it backwards) happened to stumble upon my bomb and broke it. Not one piece touched my bomb. Then the AI just so magically knew my flag was there and took it out. Also, I have been going back and forth with my level 3 piece (level 7 for others) and chasing level 7 and 8 pieces. It is like the AI knows exactly where my pieces are and what rank, also like the AI's 1 piece just happening to know where my Spy was. Improvements: Fix the AI. Another improvement: Make it so a 1 can't attack a spy and defeat a spy..Version: 1.3.9

✓ Cheating AIThe AI in this game is so bad it takes the fun out of it. If your pieces rank is higher the AI will move lower rank guys out of the way. The AI will also avoid bombs and send bomb diffusers right to unexposed bombs. Don’t even try to take their general as it will move always away from your spy and the game won’t let you move back and forth twice but the computer certainly can. Needs an AI update with more than just knowing where all your pieces are..Version: 1.10.07

✓ Multiplayer please!!!!!Too basic, a child would win. What would make it truly interesting would be if can do multiplayer (never managed to find an opponent, why? I even tested with a friend who got on the app, exact same steps at the same time). Chess games on itunes do this nicely. ✓ Love the board game but...Everything is cool but the fact that as a player you can’t repeat moves but the AI can makes it borderline unplayable if it gets in a tough situation. It wouldn’t be a big deal if the AI didn’t actively abuse this, as they know that once you move a certain way too many times their path is clear. ✓ DO NOT BUY!!!This game is a total sham, no fun to play at all. At low and medium difficulty the enemy is completely inept and i think it might be impossible to lose. On the difficult setting the increased difficulty is not due to a more capable enemy, but due to direct knowledge of your game piece locations. At this difficulty I have never once killed an enemy with a bomb - enemy pieces easily navigate through large blocks of unmoved pieces, destroying any lower ranked piece and circumnavigating every untested bomb. Update 5/13: While I appreciate the three or so updates over the past month (having gone without any updates for more than 3 years), the artificial intelligence (or "computer") opponent, when playing on the hardest setting, is permitted an unlimited number of back-and-forth moves in the same two spaces; whereas than the human player is afforded apx. two. How can the Developer justify this? ✓ Very weak gameplayThe app implements the full Stratego rules correctly, using the basic rule set. No optional rules (such as Aggressor's Advantage, Silent Aggressor etc.) are supported. My main objection is that there is no way to play against another human opponent, only against the computer and the AI is very weak. It appears that the computer has no strategy at all but plays no better than random. I have played perhaps 10 games, some with considerable material disadvantage, and won all of them easily - too easily. The game loses interest for this reason after a couple of games. Had the game been offered for free, I would have given it 3 stars. But you can't really charge money for something with such weak computer gameplay and no ability to play against another person - after 2 or 3 games, what is the point? If gameplay is improved so that it actually becomes interesting to play against, or if the option to play against another human is offered, this would be a great app. Until then, I would not recommend buying it. Also, initial board setup is necessarily a little awkward due to the iPhone's small screen. The solution offered is not bad, but when a special version is developed for the iPad, a more flexible way to set up the initial pieces would be a must..Version: 0

✓ Impossible to lose!What's wrong with the so called new & improved AI? I've never ever been beat by it, even on the 3rd "difficult" level. All the AI does is move 2 or 3 pieces for 20-25 moves. ✓ Not Worth ItNo ads so it would be worth it if the game quality was higher. Quick battle is a bit fun and quick. Problem is the AI. On normal the opponent attacks your random units with their Spy. All this does is take away their ability to counter your 10. On normal and hardest difficult it seems the AI mostly just moves their units around randomly so you’re always having to be on the offensive. Makes it boring, especially if you set up a good defense. There’s an ad for multiplayer at the top, but it says it’s not available in my region. Oh well. The AI also attacked my 7 with a 4, then a 6 two turns later. It already forgot? This was under highest difficulty available. AI is severely lacking. It is also incredibly stupid that you can’t chase after their troops by going back and forth - but they can run away by moving back and forth more than you can. So there’s a rule in place against you, but not the opponent. Main issue is still the AI though, it’s incredibly boring to play. Waste of money..Version: 1.10.07

If I approach a marshal with any piece other than a spy, it will ignore it more often than not, but when I approach with a spy, it attacks 100% of the time. Similarly, most other pieces with run away when approached by an unknown piece, but will attack a spy without hesitation. ✓ Worthless SpyNot a bad game however there is one big bug: your spy is always defeated when he attacks. Because of this bug, your spy simply becomes a scout that can only move one tile at a time. The only way to defeat your opponent's Marshal is by sacrificing your Marshal or hoping he hits a bomb. Unless you don't mind playing with this huge handicap, I don't recommend this game. The only email I got from the support team was to try to reinstall the game which to me sounded like a long shot. Tried it and the game is the same.
