KitchenPad® Timer for Negative User Reviews

Has potential but needs an updateIt is well designed and it is cool that you can save the times for your most popular kitchen tasks. I like the multiple timers and the way it ties them to the oven and the stove diagrams That said it has some annoying short comings: - Sending feedback to the company is a pain in the a**. You have to create an account in this very clunky feedback system so I'll post here instead - No support for looping timers - Would like to see support for timing tasks that take place in the refrigerator, freezer, and counter top - Please fix the annoying audio bug. If you clear the alarm while doing something else and later go back to the app it kills whatever audio is going on in the background...... Soooo annoying! - You can't alphabetically sort the the save timers. If you have a lot this is a hassle - App has not been updated in almost a year so buyer be aware.Version: 3.4.1

Currently brokenThe audible alarm and pop-up alert no longer function if the app isn't the active app. If it's running in the background, you get nothing..Version: 3.4.1

It stopped workingI loved it the first time I used it! Had four timers going at once, it was great! Tried it again today and it will only set one timer and seems to be stuck on the one timer. Not worth the money, not dependable. Having to keep track the old fashion way with a clock and pencil..Version: 3.4.1

Has potentialFairly good, with potential, but after about 3 weeks of use, seems to have a few glitches. Their support site seems to be a message board which does not seem to get checked very often. My posts seem to be unanswered even after a couple of weeks. I was unable to find an email address. Please check your site more often..Version: 3.4.1

Good....butFirstly, this is a very nicely designed app, lots of functionality in terms of multiple stove and oven timings, with a pleasant oven colour-changing graphic. As it is 4+ compatible it keeps the timings after you switch apps (although I had one or two crashes whilst doing so- BUT it didn't lose the timings!) . Where it falls down is the inability to control the start of the timers after naming them. What do I mean? i.e. I cook a lamb supper. Lamb goes into stove at 190 c for @75 mins. If I wish to add in the accompaniments, say carrots, peas, roast potatoes etc. I have to add them just as they are about to go into the oven- I don't have the ability to add them in prior to this and then start the timings as they need to be activated, IMHO, bit of an schoolboy-error really. Secondly, there is no in-cooking pause function- i.e. I have miscalculated my lamb timings and I need an extra 5 mins at high heat and I minimise the temperature of the accompaniments; I can't put the rest of my timers on pause to accommodate this. Don't get me wrong, It's a lovely app and I'm sure that the devs will add function, but just be aware of the limitations before you buy..Version: 1.0

Big problem.....This app seems promising but after setting one timer going I programmed another, only to find that the second display covered the first timer display and cannot be moved or removed. Worse, I can't make the app do anything further, though it's counting down. This may be something that's a one-off bit of weirdness. I hope so, and will report further. A further negative: it seems that unless Kitchen Pad remains on the screen then alarms don't sound. I have just ruined a batch of bread since neither of the 2 alarms I set sounded. I will not use this app again. If I could have chosen "no stars" I would have..Version: 4.0.2

Doesn't solve the main problemSo, you have to cook half a dozen things for different lengths of time but this app won't work out start times. It only allows you to set end times. It's no better than having multiple stopwatches..Version: 3.7

Problem with IOS 5Has been a great app but doesn't appear to work now I have updated to ios 5. Alarm doesn't sound anymore..Version: 3.3

2 huge flawsFirst off, it’s a great concept but it has two giant flaws. Unlike the built in iOS timer, your phone must be on ring to have sound go off. I find this very annoying as my phone is always on vibrate except for alarms and timers. Also, the alarm does not repeat. I can barely hear the timer go off when it’s in my pocket, and when it does, it makes noise for about 10 seconds and is done. I’d pay $2 more if these two issues could get fixed. If not, I wish I could get my money back. Whomp. Whomp..Version: 4.0.9

Seems to be working nowIt seems that the timer is working again. It was not going off when the iPad/iPhone was locked or asleep. As such, I'm still a little nervous about using it. I've been setting 2 timers so I have one if this doesn't go off. If it continues to work reliably, I'll eventually trust it enough for it to be my only timer once more..Version: 3.4.1

Was greatThis was a great program but ios5 broke it. Unfortunately the new update does not fix the problem, it still will not work when in background or iPad is locked. When fixed will rate a 5 again..Version: 3.4

Juvenile, undevelopedWas a free app of day -- has multiple timers on layouts like stove, broiler -- but would be more useful if could have microwave (with intensity) and slow cooker (with heat) and pressure cooker with pressure notes... Also sound are ATROCIOUS. This seems more like some class project than a serious effort to be a kitchen timer -- definitely not worth any purchase fee..Version: 4.0.4

Fatally Flawed!Since the last update, the timer pad is shown in the wrong orientation!.Version: 3.5

Missing crucial functionalityOk, so it's a great idea and it looks good (the graphics haven't been updated for retina, so it doesn't look *great*) but the functionality is basically limited to multiple timers all running together. So if your problem is knowing when to *stop* something from cooking, then sure, you'll find this useful. But surely, the whole point behind any cooking timer app is to let you know when to *start* cooking something? You need alarms going off when it's "time to put the rice on," in the bigger scheme of a meal for example. I can't see how you'd use this app for anything other than having all the alarms from all your different timers going off all at once (i.e. when your meal's ready)! But you'd still have to have some alternative method for reminding yourself when to *start* all the various meal components. Really not very useful..Version: 3.5.1

Would be great if all features workedI think the idea behind this product is very clever and useful (it's easy to set timers and the interface looks good) however, as of Feb 2012 the app's push notifications and alarms don't work when the app is running in the background or if the phone is on standby, which reduces the app's usefulness rather a lot..Version: 3.4.1

FAILWell, I discovered the hard way that if your autolock isn't set to never, when the timer is done it sends a little notice to the screen but the sound never goes off. Not to mention, when it does go off, it's so quiet that if you aren't holding your ipad you'll never hear it. Also, it works in landscape, but not portrait. And really, what's with the graphics? That whole oven thing in the lower right corner doesn't do anything but glow orange when you have an oven timer set. Ultimately, if the ipad came with the same clock that the iphone did, I would have never bought this in the first place..Version: 1.0

Preferred original design but nice to see improvementsI use this app almost every other day and find it really easy to use and very reliable. I prefer the original design - the new design is okay but I miss the flame images on the burners that you got on the original design. It provided a nice visual representation of the heat levels which I miss on this version..Version: 2.0

BadTimer works ok, but the selection of sounds is brutally bad. It's like the sound effect board for a bad classic rock station..Version: 3.4.1

Good idea but one major issueYou need your device unlocked for the alarms to sound. A major oversight..Version: 3.7

SadCan't listen to music with a headphone jack plugged in if you do it gives you a pop up note but no sound warning Fix this and I'll give five stars.Version: 3.4.1

Doesn't work on iPadIt's rotated wrong and you can't change it.Version: 3.5

Can no longer change alarm tones.Used to be able to, but no longer, or they do a good job of hiding how to do it..Version: 4.0.9

OkNot great.Version: 2.0

Doesn't work anymoreI used to really love this app and used it all the time. Unfortunately it doesn't work with iOS 5, even after an update..Version: 3.4.1

Pretty good, but lacking in placesI've tried a few timer apps and this one is pretty good. I bought it because of the iPad interface. I'd like to see the ability to add multiple upcoming timers. For now, I'm sticking with the "cookit" app on my iPhone. Add the ability to add "upcoming" dishes and it's a 5 star app..Version: 1.1

Alarm sound seems to be working againUpdate: After the developer replied with a very defensive and passive-aggressive retort to my review, I tried the app again. His/her response - "You are the first person to complain about something like this. Clearly, there is no such problem for anybody else." I was not the first person to complain that the alarms were not audible unless having the app running in the foreground. If you look at the reviews, there are 3-4 people saying the exact same thing I said. I’ve had the app for years and it used to work, then it stopped working. I just tested it again and it seems to be working so I’m updating my review. To the developer - Unless you are a 12-year-old, I suggest you take the information in these reviews as constructive feedback and maybe look into their complaints. Instead, negative reviews seem to just draw childish and defensive replies about the reviewer being a liar or incompetent. I guarantee that there are no fake or deceitful reviews just trying to tarnish the good name of the KitchenPad app. Relax a bit. Original Review: Unless the app is open, the alarm won’t work. Huge flaw..Version: 4.0.9

Don't buy thisWhat's the point of a timer that doesn't run properly in the background? If you have your recipes in iBooks or any other application, this timer doesn't alert you that time is up! Waste of my $.99!!!!.Version: 3.4.1

Please fixI loved this app b4 update now it is unusable please fix :-(.Version: 3.4.1

Average at bestI purchased & tested quickly. Less then 3 minutes to be exact. My first immpression... When you pull up a timer the text is not HD and sharp, it's a little fuzzy. Almost like it was a tweaked iphone app. That alone made me question the price for is app. If it were free, I would accept the no HD..but for $2.99, it's gotta be tight and sharp. The concept is pretty cool, especially when multitask is avail for ipad. Hopefully, timers will work in background. Being able to label what's cooking is a cool feature... The used should be able to choose different timer sounds. When timer finishes, it would be nice if label did not dissapear from stove top. However, it does stay in memory when you call it back up. There is so much wasted real estate on the page. The oven in particular. Maybe microwave timer? Thaw timer? Global timer? This app could be embedded in other receipe apps..hint hint. Conclusion... Price should be free or $.99. The concept is fisher price like, but the app has potential. My 3 dollars spent is giving you and the developer heads up. Wait to buy!!! Ps... im sure spelling and grammer is off...but you know what im sayin.Version: 0

Forget this app and this companyKitchenPad used to work but it no longer alarms at all. Alarms work in the default Clock app, so it's clearly a KitchenPad issue. Don't waste your time going to their web site and trying to send email to them about anything. *ALL* messages to the company get marked as spam by their site on and aren't delivered. My dinner got burned because of this app and I got burned because of this company..Version: 3.7

UselessI was hoping for a sort of countdown timer so you can organise timings for a meal. Instead you need an extra person just to operate this app! Add 'start time' or 'end time' to the timers and I will instantly change this to 5*. I did a similar thing with full timers as a 1 week 1st year uni project for the pc. At the moment this is no more useful than the alarm feature on the iPhone. Wish i could get my money back as I got less use from it than it took to write this review..Version: 1.1

Doesn't work with iOS5Shame - it was pretty good, but doesn't work any more, even after the update that was supposed to fix it. Expect lots of burned food!.Version: 3.4

RuinedUpdate won't install, app is inaccessible, waste of money at the moment.Version: 3.4.1

March 2016 update brings silenceThe latest update no longer gives an audible alarm at the end of a timer cycle. That renders this app useless so I deleted it. Yes, my volume is turned up and, yes, I used the most obnoxious tone I could find in settings. And yes, my iPad Air with iOS 9.2 works fine with everything else that make sound. My Pebble smartwatch has all of the timers I need now so this whole class of apps is obsolete anyway..Version: 4.0

Stop asking to share and reviewI just want to use the app. I don't want to be asked to review every time I launch it or share about it with my friends. Well you wanted me to share - here it is..Version: 3.3

Removing from iPadUsed this app for several years and worked well. Latest update has a burdensome user interface that makes setting up four timers time consuming. Removing this app from my iPad..Version: 4.0
