Meteor Multitrack Recorder for Positive User Reviews

Good Audiobus ControlSo far this app is the only one that allows you to set a mono track to record in Audiobus and it actually does record in mono or stereo if you choose. I like this because I don't have to convert my stereo bass track to mono because it's already in that format. Also. Meteor is working very stable with Audiobus. However 12 tracks is now seeming limited considering other Multitrack recorders are offering many more tracks but still a good Audiobus recorder. 4 stars..Version: 1.4

Fantastic App!I have tried a few of the multitrack recording apps, and none of them compare to Meteor. The recording features are amazing (love the effects and variable methods of inserting them) and the editing features are a pleasure to use. Thanks so much for the update and keep up the great work!.Version: 1.1

Top Class StudioAfter I installed the app I had a problem because of low memory on my unit. I emailed the developer and they responded ASAP with a resolution: You must have at least 1GB free space in some cases for the add on additional content to load due to memory check; although the app only requires around 200MB. So after I made memory space and reinstalled the application it worked. Now that the problem was solved and working with music production on this software has begun I see it's the most all-in-one on the iPad market to date! I purchased all the upgrades to complete the package, being able to work with video for sync production makes it powerful and something highly needed. I will continue to support the teams work and look to see more enhancements and apps to purchase from them. Hope to see expanded sample paks, synthesizer upgrades, and Bluetooth connectivity. Thanks for the powerful design to iPad class music production!.Version: 1.23

Love the update BUT....IAA doesn't work, there are no compatible devices detected yet I have all the apps that are IAA compatible like Nave and iSem etc. I have been waiting for this feature and would love to be able to use it. I have an ipad3 so there should be no problem. Could you guys work on this to sort it out?.Version: 2.00

One of the top 21. Cubasis 2. Meteor Out of the ones I have paid for the two above are my top two. It is nice, but many additions should be included(mainly the effects) in my opinion. It is nice though, I just find myself using cubasis more. Perhaps later I may get the midi addon, just it's a bit pricey sense I have it on cubasis..Version: 1.60

Wonderful MIDI Recorder/EditorI have been looking for a solid, MIDI recorder that will record piano playing, including incremental pedal data. So many other MIDI records for iPad do not record incremental pedal data or even pedal data at all. This one does! This app has a really nice interface. I love it!.Version: 2.14

Worth it.This is taking me a little while to come to grips with and I've had to refer to the manual a few times. But the more time I spend learning it, the bigger the pay-off is getting. I was a little confused at first just how to select tracks, bring them up in the wave editor, assign effects to aux/insert/master etc but it's actually turning out to be a very powerful DAW. I'm able to do just about all the things I normally would use Sonar for. There's even automation. A good array of effects that sound pretty good - although I had to in-app purchase the compressor separately, but there's a chorus/reverb/delay/tone boost already installed. It's not an inexpensive app, but nor should it be. There's a lot of effort been put into this and the result is a pretty comprehensive DAW. The more I use it, the more impressed with it I become. Both a Tascam Im2 and Guitar Jack 2 work fine with it. If multi-tracking is your thing, give this a look. Edit: you can also program Sonoma's Instant Drummer apps, copy them to the paste board and import into Meteor. Also, exporting your tracks to a stereo .wav file and then copying them out of iTune's drop box (when synced) is now working well. Edit 2: Getting really nice results with Apogee's MiC - works beautifully with Meteor. The flexibility of being able to assign different effects to either aux/insert/record/master is proving very, very useful. And can dial in separate controls to the effects on each track..Version: 1.31

Best DAW by farI have experimented with a variety of IOS DAWs which all offer different feature sets but most are limited in one way or another. Meteor is the closest to a computer based work station with most of the necessary features such as effects routing via bus, sends, per track and direct to the recorded audio so you can apply them exactly where you need them. Ok, you have to purchase many via in app purchases but compare the cost against a pc or mac plug in and they are cheap. Meteor suits my working method very well and I will post another review when I have fully explored creating complete songs only using Meteor but it is superb when finishing compositions started in other software. My current process is to build the track in NanoStudio or Music Studio as I have worked with them both for some time and they are quick at building the initial song, but are not great for audio and both have limitations. Audio is where Meteor really excels. I can copy audio in groups, for example I will build up a number of drum tracks and mix them, then export the audio pre mixed into Meteor. I do this with all the major midi parts so that each song has a single stereo track for drums, bass and synths, which uses just 3 tracks of the 12 available in Meteor. I then record my guitars, vocals and any other audio parts, apply per track or direct to wav effects in the wav window. I can route effects on up to 3 busses which can be applied to all the guitar or vocal parts and then apply master effects to the overall mix. The limitations are those within the IOS operating system not the app which is the best of its type bar none. You can use copy/paste to bring in audio from other apps and the 'tidy' function removes all tracks not referenced by the project so you can choose which 'takes' to import into your mix and discard the rest. Meteor is feature rich and fairly logical with enough depth to allow me to 'produce' fully finished and polished songs. It is the only proper producers tool available....buy it. It has made all my other audio apps redundant and is a 'go to' app along side that compliments Nanostudio, Music Studio, Addictive Synth, Thumbjam and Animoog..Version: 1.32

Great!!The easiest app out there! Been using it since it came out and still love it!! Thanks.Version: 2.13

Great appWorks very well..Version: 1.61

Great app but needs workThis is running neck and neck with Daw for recording audio but only because Daw gives you 24 tracks. Meteor can very easily be the best with a few bug fixes like it crashing when you delete audio from the audio pool. Four pockets also needs to add finer tempo adjustments so you can sync the project to external audio by 10ths of a BPM. Those fixes would make the the best recording app an earn a five star ratting from me. I now record and produce only using my iPad and ioDock by Alesis. Thanks Four Pockets for making this possible..Version: 1.2

Very nice app.Very nice app keep up the great work...But need a fix.I installed the latest update and know I get a high pitched squel..I am not running iOS 6 I am using the last 5 iOS. maybe I should have not updated since the updates seem to be for iso6.. I wonder is there anyway to go back one update?.Version: 1.37

Exceptional SoftwareI've been using 4Pockets apps since I first discovered Pocket RTA for the Pocket PC around 10 years ago. Consistent quality and support over the years. When I first purchased an IPad I went exploring for music creation apps. First stop was Garage Band which was great but I quickly outgrew it. Upon looking for a replacement I found Meteor and it has been my goto app ever since. Previous recording tools forced me to conform my creative ideas to the capabilities of the software. Meteor however has supported most any thing I've ever attempted. Recently purchased the MIDI upgrade that is allowing me to do work inside if Meteor which required outside apps before. Newest surprise has AudioBus support. If your looking for a top shelf recording and production app, give Meteor a try. I believe it will continue to increase in value over time. Thanks 4pockets..Version: 2.02

THE BEST MULT-TRACK RECORDER FOR THE IPAD BY FAR!I've tried them all and really wish I'd just started here in the first place, it is just way ahead of the rest. It's the only multi-track to offer full automation for starters, and that in itself puts this app in a class of it's own. If you're serious about recording on your iPad, this is the only one that will give you that professional studio result, there's no point settling for less, you'll just be wasting your time. You also may have to purchase some extra effects if you like to have every option, but they're not a necessity, it already comes with some powerful rack units. All the effects are the best you'll find,or hear for that matter, you really have to try this out to really understand the quality. Do your songs the favor, it's really the only choice, mine have never sounded so good..Version: 1.28

Pretty good appI love everything about it so far! I am going to buy the video plugin, and try and make a multiscreen music video. If that video plugin will work as well with the meteor multitrack the it has got it going on. Gonna try to load the video on with my Vivitar handycam, so everyone wish me luck. If this had a note editor that you could compose with I would have given it 5 stars..Version: 1.42

I'm SOOO Glad I bought it.So far I'm REALLY happy with Meteor. I had been waiting very impatiently for it's release. To date I have refrained from buying any of the multitrack editors because they all seemed a little more loop based or REALLY lacked features I needed. This one really gives me the feel and function of a desktop DAW but on he iPad. I think the price is a good price and while I was bummed that it didn't come with many FX by default I think that doing the in App purchase helps keep the initial cost down while giving you the option to add the effects you need and want. Basically I have been looking and waiting for a DAW that will let me bring the sounds and sequences from OTHER iPad and iPhone apps and build them into finished pieces in one place. I think Meteor will do that for me at least..Version: 1.0

A Dream to UseThe title says it all. This App is one of the best self-contained music production Apps I've ever used. I do wish some of the in-App purchases were included, or not as pricey, but that does not take away from what this baby can do..Version: 1.27

FantasticThis has to be the best multitrack recorder for the IPad. Although it might seem a little expensive it's worth every penny. So many features and a multitude of effects. The quality of the recordings are impressive. Well done to the software engineers who put it together. Mog.Version: 1.33

Super RadMaybe an update ??? Starting to fail ;(.Version: 2.14

Superb updateThis established multitrack has lots of great features and now includes a 3 band parametric EQ on each channel strip. I still like Meteor for its virtual instruments, MIDI editor and Sidechain compression. More goodies from 4 Pockets taking this iOS DAW further in its development. Can now import video, add vocals / music and export. Really good..Version: 1.60

Almost perfectI love the app...have a mic stand for the iPad and everything! But I was tweaking the audio on the second of two tracks, and when I attempted to change the pitch through the effects dialog on the second track, it crashed out. Even with auto save on, I lost a good hour's worth of work; don't trust the auto save! Otherwise, unless messing with effects becomes a common crash inducer, it's pretty solid for an iPad app. Even the inboard mic works well with it! If I can go a while without losing more content, it will get 5 stars. Time will tell..Version: 1.28

NEEDS TO GET NOTICED!This is a very powerful, PRO, music app. I've bought just about every music, sequencer, app going and NOTHING COMES CLOSE TO METEOR. Cubase on the move or at home! I use Meteor live for triggering samples too. METEOR NEEDS TO GET NOTICED. Thanks guys, you've done a great job on Meteor. SIDE CHAIR COMPRESSION..........NICE! METEOR RUNS FINE ON MY IPAD ONE WITH BOTH MIDI AND AUDIO..Version: 1.23

Meteor ReviewGreat program useful range of effects could use some keyboard shortcuts Good manual covers most tools well.Version: 1.42

David Henry12 track recording for less than the cost of a guitar peddle! and for me a film maker I can score music as I watch my movie play that's amazing..Version: 1.37

Very CapableOverall Meteor is a very capable iPad-based Digital Audio Workstation. It is very easy to learn due to it's intuitive graphic environment. If you have worked with any DAW, you will adapt to Meteor very quickly. Sound quality is great, what goes in is what comes out. Integration with AudioBus is seamless and predictable. I have not pushed it to it's limits. I usually get everything done that I need to do in 4 tracks or maybe 6. It's possible that at 10, 12 or 24 it begins to bog down, but I have personally never needed that many tracks so I don't have any reason to think that is the case. My only criticisms are petty. For example, I wish the mode buttons on the top were re-ordered such that the track view and mixer view were next to each other because those are the two that I use the most. Like I said, petty. Another minor "problem" is getting the timing right on your "tap" technique. "Tap-and-hold" vs. "tap" on an item (such as audio clip in the track view) can sometimes be a bit finickey. Again, trivial. For the price, it is impossible to beat this DAW. You have to spend much more to get equal capability from other iPad DAWs. And some, while offering some features that Meteor does not, also do not have many of Meteor's advantages. And those cost a WHOLE lot more. As they say, you can spend more, but you cannot pay less and get this kind of capability..Version: 2.11

Does Everything I need it to doI am a long time cubase desktop user. It was a breeze going from that to this. At does just about everything you would want to track record to do. I use this with my rig pro duo with no problems. People are amazed at the sound quality of the recordings when I tell them my set up. My only issue is that the dropbox integration seems not to work. If it did, this will be a five star review..Version: 2.14

Great updateLove the new update, particularly the recording loop mode, which allows up to 6 recordings on a loop so you can choose the best take. Also best DAW for ipad 2. Minimal glitches and crashes. However, I have problems applying effects sometimes on aux send . The effects selected just dont seem to take on the selected track and bus..Version: 1.61

Powerful little DAWUPDATE: Simultaneous multiple track recording is now supported, so if anyone has the phone number for the Berlin Philharmonic... This is a great little DAW with a lot of features. If you want to record audio or MIDI input to separate tracks, add effects and mix everything down to stereo, then this app can do it. What it can't do, and to be fair it doesn't claim to, is record multiple inputs to multiple tracks SIMULTANEOUSLY, so if you're hoping to mic up the Berlin Philharmonic and record all the parts on separate tracks for remixing later, you're going to be disappointed. If, however, you want to build up your songs one track at a time, then this DAW can deliver. Highly recommended..Version: 1.60

PowerPacked!I have worked with Cubase, Logic, Reason, Performer, Sonar, and ProTools, but I absolutely love having a DAW right on my ipad with no extra hardware where I can roll out of bed and get an idea down immediately before it gets away from me. Now, I want more! Give me a swing-type quantize option and I'm going to create a hit record on this thing. Bet'cha..Version: 1.32

Great Tool!I've only been using Meteor for a short time and I love it already. I have limited skills with PC recording especially using Midi, but Thanks to using Meteor I am undertaking and learning more each day..Version: 1.37

Highly recommended.A versatile piece of software, well-made and intuitive. I use it a lot with Sunrizer with the copy and paste function but the in-built sounds are also good. Editing features work really well. Overall very pleased..Version: 1.28

Good features, perfect with some small improvementsMeteor is has really all the features you need for home multitrack recording. I have used it with pre recorded drum loops, and recorded bass and guitar via an iRig with or without pre amps and also using the internal mike with good results. It is quite intuitive and easy to use. Just one thing that I found very frustrating is using the time stretch interface where the slide bar can never stop at the accurate bpm you want. Slide bar looks nice, but just let us type it in please!.Version: 1.4

MeteoricThis is a seriously good bit of kit. Later updates have made I very stable. It is very easy to produce great results and it's ease of use makes it the ideal note pad for getting down ideas quickly..Version: 1.5

Really imppressive app with lots of potential! What a great app this is, bridging the gap between mobile music making and the desktop DAW, and doing an admirable job. It is hard to believe the iPad music apps have come so far in only a year. This is the best of the mutli-tracks at the minute, so lets hope the developers can keep it ahead of the competition. If you are familiar with most popular DAW's then this is a relatively intuitive program to use. Just the ability to perform in place editing and splicing is great, plus controller lanes which is a first for the iPad. The effects rack concept is great, with many different ways of routing effects. Works very well on my iPad 2, if only it had MIDI support, wishful thinking maybe? We can but hope!.Version: 1.0

ImpressedIt quickly became clear that GarageBand on the iPad is very limited so I searched for another multitrack recorder and found this. It is a proper recorder and wave editor with most of the features you would expect to find. So far I've tested it with a USB microphone, the irig and the Line 6 Mobile In and they all worked fine. It's been stable so far and once I followed the instructions in Getting Started there were no latency or performance issues. I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to record and mix on the iPad who is used to Pc/Mac applications like Cubase. Nice job. P.S. It would be nice if an amp/speaker emulator was included.Version: 1.31

It Just Works!I am currently working on an EP. I recently purchased my iPad, and was hoping I could use it for home vocal recordings. Bought a Blue mic and spent hours researching the best software. This is it, in my humble opinion. Very slick and intuitive, plus it's also very kind to the eye; making great use of the iPad's screen. The only gripe I have with it, is the fact that you only get 12 tracks. I would happily pay for an upgrade to get 24. (hint hint) There were a few reviewers online saying that you can't label tracks...NOT TRUE! Get it...worth every pound!.Version: 1.30

Good appIts annoying you have to pay for the extras but you dont always need them. Really needs better support for track recording like multitrack daw has, overall though this is the best daw by far..Version: 1.28

I keep coming back to this oneAnd it makes me smile. I’m a longtime 4Pockets fan, since the Windows Mobile apps, and will continue to be one One slight bug, sometimes I press play and it doesn’t. I know it’s an older app, and 4Pockets has produced a series of great apps since this one, but I am convinced Meteor is worth some bug-fix love...if not a full on update The transport controls stop responding when the app is put into background then back to the foreground The workaround is to reload the same project, but it would be very cool to not need the workaround..Version: 2.42

Amazing DAW for an unbeatable priceAfter having examined several alternatives, I'm sold on Meteor. GarageBand is intuitive but doesn't have the same great stock instruments. Beatmaker And the others are weak on audio processing. Meteor offers the best of all worlds - and their tech support is on point and quick on their feet. I experienced one metronome related bug which they helped me through and it never came back again. The learning curve isn't flat but isn't steep either. After a few hours with it, you'll get the hang of it. It's a DAW, after all. MIDI keyboard integration is spot on as well. I use this when I need to make high quality demos on the go - Can't recommend this enough. If you're looking for something more serious than GarageBand but still affordable, easy to learn and intuitive to work with - get this DAW!.Version: 1.52

Wow! What an UpdateThe indignant detractors may put their offense to rest. This app will record Simultaneous Multitrack. For the price, you won't go wrong with this choice of DAW, either as your only DAW or as a compliment to another. I own just about every iOS DAW. I've tried them all, and each one has it's strengths and weaknesses. This one is useful for tasks that can't be accomplished readily in any other..Version: 2.03

Useful tool in my in my toolbox.I really appreciate the usefulness of MMR. I can record through Audiobus without a hitch (no lag or glitch). I can't say the same about the GarageBand app. I can copy/ paste from AudioShare using CopyPaste 2.0. I can trim my audio loops, add fade in/out, add effects and paste it back into AudioShare for use with Retronyms products (Tabletop, IMPC). My only con is that it is not 100% intuitive. If you are a pro then you will know which signposts to look for and you won't get lost. -Cheers.Version: 1.70

Awesome! After using GarageBand for a month or so to record a few tracks and fast discovering its limitations, I went in search of a more comprehensive iOS DAW. Just as I was beginning to think that perhaps such a thing didn't yet, or perhaps couldn't possibly exist, I came across a review of Meteor and decided to download it. All I can say is... wow!! This thing is brilliant. Unless you're considering yourself the most professional of professional music producers, which I definitely am not, you couldn't possibly be disappointed with this app. So impressed with Meteor, and with a thirst for knowledge on how to properly drive it, I've looked up almost every thread to be found and find it hard to believe there are still people second-guessing whether they should this?! Seriously people, it's $10.00. If that's too expensive an outlay for a beautifully designed, professionally equipped virtual music studio, right in your palms on your iPad, then perhaps making music really shouldn't be your thing. I'm still discovering all that can be done on this and am having an absolute blast in the process. Honestly, do yourself a favor and buy it... It's worth every penny and a whole lot more!.Version: 1.33

The best in terms of features and valueStill the best DAW out there in my opinion in terms of features. Can be a little clunky in some ways but its great value for money when compared with the competition. The devs keep it regularly updated and add new features. Recommended!.Version: 1.62

No problemThis app works great, dang near a full blown daw, u wont do feature length movie with it, but it'll sure do a scene, and an album, and a demo, no problem. Beautifully intuitive touch based recording. Thanks!.Version: 1.33

What's not to love?Meteor is efficient, easy to use and extremely inexpensive. Download it now or be forced to face a shameful image of cheapness every time you look in the mirror (and any other reflective surface you may encounter) for the rest of your life!.Version: 2.14

UnderratedBest DAW for the dough on ipad, and I should know. I have bought them all. I overlooked it because it doesn't get as much attention or have the glitz of some of them but it's my favorite now. Better than Cubasis, better than Auria in some ways for now even (Auria doesn't support MIDI instruments yet). Not a pretty interface but it's very functional and easy to understand. I haven't even needed to read the manual yet. If you are coming from a desktop environment like Cakewalk/Sonar give this a whirl and you'll probably like it..Version: 1.61

It's Getting ThereI am surprised other, more established, DAWs haven't found their way onto an iPad yet...so kudos for this company for boldly stepping forward into this and blazing the trail! That being said, this is working decently, when I emailed them about adding midi cycle recording functionality, they replied and it was implemented (I do remember waiting quite some time for it though)...my problem has now been the seemingly sluggish midi cycle recording execution...I just feels to me that it's not tight, and when I quantize it doesn't snap as I am used to (that being in Logic) I REALLY would like to pound out some serious stuff on this, but it's just not there yet...I am anticipating the goods with future updates!.Version: 1.35

Great appThis app takes away all the glittery extras that you find in garage band and replaces them with useful tools that will appreciated by anyone looking for more control over their recordings. Thing like extra tracks ,up to 12. Complete control over Individual volume thought the tracks recording. Effects that allow you to dial in exactly what you want. A better edit track setup thank garage band currently offers. In short, if u want a solid multi track recorder and can do without virtual instruments ,this is the best out there. Until apple offers a full version of garage band or at least one with better editing options this app wins..Version: 1.28

NiceVery nice app.Version: 1.31

ImpressiveMy goal was to find a Nuendo or Sonar-like app for iPad 2. This I believe is as close as it's going to get. I was worried what audio interface would be compatible as the documentation does not cover this aspect. I emailed support and got a reply that they had success with the Camera Connection Kit. I now use a Alesis MultiMix 4 USB attached to the Camera Connection Kit which works great. I monitor the recording and playback through headphones connected to the MultiMix. The app is intuitive and very powerful in the hands of an audio engineer. I am pleased with the functionality of the editor and effects, as well as the GUI. I have a few minor asks: Track mode: need ability to move the cursor without accidentally resetting your selected range Compressor: need ability for more output gain Mixing: need ability to export only the selected region This app is only limited by the iPad's own capabilities, so I give it 5 stars..Version: 1.1

EXCELLENT.I am using this app alongside the Thor Synth and Rebirth for iPad and well - it is amazing - very easy to use and syncs well with the other apps. I cannot stress enough that this app is an awesome product - such a bargain at this price. Buy it now - you won't regret it !! Superb !!.Version: 1.65

IncroyableCette application est de loin, de très loin, la meilleure jamais faite pour tout musicien qui se respecte. 5 étoiles ne suffisent pas. 10 !.Version: 1.30

Still one of the bestOne of the 1st ipad daws and thanks to constant updates still in the premiere league Wrote this years ago, but it's still true..Version: 2.22

Nearly perfect....Great app, very powerful. Sounds supplied are good to record directly even though I usually use other apps routed by Audiobus. There's a LOT to get into here and I'll be honest I'd prefer to spend time getting to grips with the music apps as this can seem a little dry. User interface can be a little tricky - I find it a bit confusing to drop samples using the cut & paste, clipboard and where it actually saves them from other apps. I've known it not start (recording) or close unexpectedly when only using that & minimum apps (via audiobus) but the fault could lie elsewhere. It's destined for great things. Definitely going to try *just* recording using this to learn the ins & outs..Version: 1.52

Nice!I own many DAWs on my Ipad, but this one I’ve settled on for my main DAW. I think the effects are Fantastic, and it's fairly easy to use. The appearance could be a bit better. It looks a little Cartoony..Version: 2.31

Ed BartszAfter buying, and trying several soft wares and not being satisfied with them, having no choice but deleting them, then I found Meteor what a blessing. Since the late 80's I tried many sequencing soft wares, and some hardware units so I knew what I wanted, and Meteor satisfied just about all I was looking for. After contacting Meteor and making suggestions, Meteor took them seriously and made those changes, and today I am happy, There a couple more small issues and as a beta test site I know Paul from Meteor will resolved them. I will rate this as five stars..Version: 1.52

Great app constant upgrades a company that listensJust a thanks for such a good DAW have tried most on the App Store and this is the best. Also recommend the feature of scroll lock on the FX, got quick response by email and was told that it would be in this upgrade. Ace highly recommend..Version: 1.66

Great & Timely Updates!I too have found this my go-to app. I have been Multi-tracking since 1976 with my first 4 track reel to reel, later with my first 4 track cassette recorder (Does Fostex ring a bell?), then on to my Rolland VS 880, then later another Rolland VS 890. I was a slow-to-convert to computer recording (although technically the Rollands were nothing more or less than just self-contained computers). For the past couple of years, I used Garage Band once it was compatible with the iPad. Meteor is not only constantly updating this app, but updates the app with, for me, exactly what I wished it had prior to the update. The manual is logically put together and extremely easy to understand. My next wish-list item... 24 bit?.?. Great job, guys! You've got me hooked!!!.Version: 2.02

One of the BestThis is one of the top 3 DAWs, and probably the MOST complete and efficient of the three (between Auria, Cubasis, and Meteor). Easy to use too! As of this writing, Auria doesn't have MIDI sequencing, Cubasis doesn't have automation, neither of them have a sampler (Meteor has one). Meteor will even work with smaller projects on an iPad 1--the minimum for the others is an iPad 2. Over all, it is a very complete, efficient DAW..Version: 1.60

Simply Ace!One of my favourite retires is being able to use MIDI to control other synths etc. Interface is easy to use. And great fun..Version: 1.2

MetorI have been looking for a package like this for some time. It's so easy to use and yet so powerful. I am still getting used to its many functions but it is a delight to use. Brian.Version: 1.31

Great app, still room for improvementMeTeoR is an app that is really promising, has some great features and good sound quality, but there are still a few bug-bears that need sorting out. First, the good: 1. You can record a seemingly limitless amount of tracks, as each track will overdub and play the previous audio at the same time. (At first I thought this was an error... but it's cool!) Audio is recorded to a "pool", so the files are separate. 2. Touch based manipulation of audio clips is cool. 3. The GUI is one that will be very familiar to users of Cubase, ProTools etc. Edit window, mixer window etc etc. Easy to learn and use straight away. 4. I LOVE the finger-painting automation lane! It's like a new way of mixing. Now, the not so good: 1. Crashes need fixing. No data is lost when the app crashes, but it's still a pain. 2. File management system needs fixing - I can't get into the app's folders via iTunes, can only load samples to the root directory. 3. Sample editor could do with some more features, such as time-stretch/pitch - too much needs to be done externally to get clips and loops to sync with sessions. 4. Several edit window features could be improved, the "cut, move cursor, paste" paradigm isn't really conducive to fast editing. More gesture based editing (say, two fingers to copy, three to paste) would utilise multitouch better. 5. The memory management system needs to happen in the background, automatically. Seems that if I can reallocate memory by touching a dialogue button, the software really could just do that for me... All that aside, I applaud the creators of this app, which is the best I've seen in it's class. Look forward to seeing what MeTeoR evolves into..Version: 1.02

Best option on iPadYou’ve got GarageBand and iMovie and are fed up with the limitations. GarageBand won’t take long audio files (e.g. hour long gig recordings) and iMovie doesn’t allow the audio track of a video to be EQd or improved. Meteor can do both. Pretty easy to learn. Less commitment in £ compared with Auria..Version: 2.36

CrashesLatest version crashes for some reason unknown to me... I have 4th gen iPad I've closed all other applications but it still crashes... ??.Version: 1.52

Good supportI personally use the midi to create or import guide tracks which I then overdub, as well as, of course, to add a wider range of instruments then I would otherwise be able to ornament my arrangements with. One should be aware though that the MIDI implementation is not strictly GM and that if you need internal sound synthesis and MIDI editing the app becomes expensive compared to competitors such as Beatmaker 2 and Music Studio. In my experience, support from the developer is prompt, friendly and useful, which is valuable given a sophisticated app like this, into which users invest a great deal of time and creativity. This app does offer a great many functions and features: it's certainly worth taking a close look at the listing in case they are a particularly good fit to your workflow..Version: 1.35

Best IPad DAWBest IPad DAW out currently. I use it all the time. I'm using it with an IoDock. You can record two things at once by using stereo input and stereo track options, and then you can bounce the stereo track to two individual mono tracks for separate processing. However, this does not allow you to record effect the two sources differently, but I like to record clean and effect later, so that works for me. Be sure to close other apps and switch to airplane mode when using and you'll get clean performance. Outstanding bang-for-the-buck..Version: 1.31

Great AppMeteor sounds great, is easy to use and serves my purpose very well indeed. I use it to professionally record (a small number of trax) and demo new material (more trax here). It interfaces with my gear very well. I find using an iPad pen works well. Draw backs - (which I reckon they will improve soon of course) -Slows down once you start using too many trax. - midi instruments sound really average for my tastes. (There is probably away to import new ones. I've been mainly recording real instruments) - can freeze every now and then - seems too hard to back up material from iPad to computer or external hard drive. Be cool if there was an easier way. Having said all that - it is certainly the way of the future for me. MK.Version: 1.37

Meteor multitrack recorderThis is one of the best multitrack recorders you will find on this platform. With feedback and updated versions it continues to impress. Sorry it's not only a multitrack it's a studio :).Version: 1.60

Great v1.0 app...but some crashing at times.I've been looking/waiting for a recording studio-style app with certain features for awhile now and Meteor definitely meets my requirements. It was a little disappointing to have to purchase certain effects via In-App purchasing (which effectively added 50% of the price for what I consider to be the 3 primary add-on effects: distortion, graphic EQ and compressor) but I don't regret purchasing Meteor or those effects. I ended up purchasing video import and Meteor crashed the first time I used it....I have no idea what happened with that! The only thing which lowers my rating from 5-star to 4-star is that Meteor has crashed on me a couple of times and I lost my project. Some might say this could be expected for a v1.0 app but I disagree: alpha and beta testing should eliminate crashing and v1.0 really should be fairly secure. I'd expect minor bugs and room for improvement at v1.0 but to lose project data is really inexcusable. Overall, I can definitely recommend Meteor provided that you're willing to give the developer some time to iron out some bugs. I'm impressed with the GUI and it's incredibly easy to use..Version: 1.0

Can finally make some musicEver since I got my iPad, I have wanted it to be the brains of my studio. This DAW is the first to make that truly, smoothly possible. The ease of "printing" submixes makes the 12-track limitation viable if you keep separate projects for your stems like drums, guitar, vocals and a master file for joining them all together..Version: 1.26

Great app be awesome with AirPlay.Great app I use it to write and create on the go although the addition of AirPlay would be handy to play mixes through my vans speakers. Any chance??.Version: 1.4

Excellent!Just what I've been looking for. :-).Version: 1.28

Mint full studio in your hands for pennies !!!!This application is excellent. A true take anywhere DAW. Yes there are some in app purchasses that may be needed however it's well worth the money. The application also lets you copy wav's from other applications/synths. I have purchased the midi editor and the virtual instruments. Also the application will output its midi channels to other applications if left running in the background. The interface of the application is excellent and once the small learning curve is climbed the ease at which you can bang out tunes is amasing. I pleased at the way i could setup a loop and record a simple beat then use the step edit to futher enhance. A MUST buy for any budding musician,.Version: 1.34

A lesson for othersThis app is a clear demonstration of what is capable using the iPad. The features available are very comprehensive and I've now started using this app to record my ideas and simple demos instead of using pro-tools le (though I still use this for full on recording). The price can be a little off putting but it is well worth it when you consider the feature set. One minor issue was importing material from ampkit. If both apps were running there would be a problem with the audio being sped up once open in meteor. Copying to pasteboard and then shutting ampkit before pasting solves this problem though. No other issues as yet and all in all a very very good piece of software..Version: 1.30

Nice AppHad the App for a few weeks now, and still getting used to it. Initial views are that it does exactly what it says on the tin. Sometimes the controls are a little fiddly, and it's hard to be accurate with the stub of a finger (which then leads to excessive use of the undo function, or you keep moving the track/sample on a trial and error basis until it fits right). It would also be nice for the play function to let you listen to the tracks/samples 'live' whilst editing/moving them around - unfortunately it doesn't so you have to stop and restart to hear the changes take effect. These are only minor points, and wouldn't stop me buying the App again. With more use and more experience, things are becoming easier and I can't wait to try out all the functions. Good App guys - and I was told an iPad wasn't a DAW! ;o) ...well, this is a pretty good try... Well done..Version: 1.02

Nice DawThis is a great daw app that has many features and offers almost everything you need an a mobile app. I would like to see multiple track recording, but other then that its very useful. I own all of the daw apps and this one is definitely in the to p 5 list..Version: 1.31

Boblomu5 stars, does everything you need, and is easy to justify if you think of the cost of pc software... A nice ableton esque touch friendly filter would be nice, but am being picky.Version: 1.33
