✓ Life saverI love this app. I love that I can literally take it anywhere. I used to take a small plug-in fan on trips but, obviously, that could get cumbersome. I found the app when I forgot my fan one time. The app is a great option for people who need portable noise! I even use it at home now. ✓ This app has been a life saver!Initially our friends recommended this app to us. Our son has always been a bit of a monkey when it comes to going to sleep but this app really helps to settle him. It genuinely does work! We've actually left this app running on our phone or on the iPad with various noises running in his cot or in the pushchair and it's really helped to keep him settled and asleep. Sometimes you need to vary the selection up a bit and go through each of his favourite noises for a couple of seconds until he goes quiet - which is often immediately when we play this for him. I really love the rain on umbrella, but if you are looking for something even calmer then that, try making a mix of forest and waterfall. My neighbours have a puppy and she's cute but VERY noisy, as is the plug-in they bought to calm her down and i can hear whirring when I'm trying to sleep. A friend suggested I try a white noise app before forking out for a white noise machine and this is magic! I love that you can make your own mix. I've got three sounds mixed together - rain, thunder and rain on umbrella. I adjusted the mix so the thunder is more background and the rain on umbrella comes to the front. I do play this through a wireless speaker but it's good with earphones too and I can see me using it in the office. I can't recommend this enough! It's an absolutely fantastic white noise app that I'd highly recommend to parents and to anyone who needs relaxing sounds for meditation etc. The only suggestion I'd give to make this app even better, with the next upgrade maybe add a deep breathing/snoring sound effect. There are no ad interruptions, and I can select from a long list of library items that most similar apps make you pay to get. It even now has a timer! So I literally just put my 1-month-old to sleep with “airplane cabin”. Amazing. My only gripe is that it doesn’t have “brown noise” which I have come to love because it worked for me when I was going through a stressful divorce; it purportedly cancels out brain waves and quiets thoughts, allowing one to go to sleep. What good are chimes or raindrops when you want continuous white noise to block out background sounds? This app has two such noises - "floor fan" (the best) and "white noise". The floor fan, despite being the best I've found one any free app, is still bi-tonal - there's a less pleasant bass tone in addition to the whooshing of the "fan". ✓ Let down by clunky AI and bad sound editingThis app is fantastic with a great library of sounds. However it's difficult to navigate and find the things you want to do. The main issue, however, is that the levels in some of the sound recordings aren’t done well. Due to this some of the recordings, like the rain on the umbrella recording, will get louder for a couple of seconds which is disruptive to concentration. You can balance this yourself in the app, but some of the recordings have a bump too loud to fix and it takes the “oomph” out of the sounds. I used to have a little aid that I just put in my ear that made white noise but I lost it, and it's very expensive to replace. I found this free app, thought it's worth a try and it's fantastic.
