PTSD Coach for Positive User Reviews

Excellent app for managing PTSDI’m surprised more people don’t know about this app. It’s put out by the Veterans Administration and it’s actually very, very helpful in helping recognize and better manage PTSD symptoms. The app is super easy to use and includes several tools you can select when you’re struggling with anger, depression, anxiety and more, right when you need it. I use it all the time and highly recommend it!.Version: 3.4

Has helped me tons!I am a self-diagnosed PTSD sufferer. I’m not a veteran, just a normal teenager who has gone through a lot of trauma that no one should. I looked for apps that would work and I found this one–even though it’s meant for veterans, it’s for PTSD, so it helps me a lot. I take the monthly check ups to see if I’ve worsened and improved, and to see that test prove in a way what I’m experiencing helps me psychologically, I would say. Gives me validation of sorts. The tools provided help calm me down and encourage me to keep living and to realize that though my PTSD might never truly stop, it will get better over time. This app has helped me to get better. It also has some tools to get connected with a support group and such, but I’ve never used those because of my isolation (I live in an isolating household). I strongly recommend installing this app and sharing with friends. I am praying for you all..Version: 3.4

PTSDTo be able to have tools readily available through this and other apps, I find that dealing with my MST/PTSD symptoms a little less worst then not having anything during rough times that I suffer from. Thank You for this app..Version: 3.5.3

Secure life.It is very helpful in the balance of my life. Between this and mindfulness I am a better person. My issues are manageable and I am happy the the Doctors and psychiatrist recommended it. 😊.Version: 3.1

Phenomenal free toolOf all of the apps I have seen and attempted to use this has been the best BY FAR! For free it offers awesome mindfulness and breathing exercises. Alternates between soothing pictures, sounds, ideas based on what’s tearing you apart at the moment. Every single day of my existence is a struggle to make it through. I was reaching a point in my day where there was more time in a panic And terror and rottenness then not. This application has significantly helped me in the heat of these moments. It has helped my ability to deal with the panic attacks and steer me from feeling completely lost to there is a light in the far off distance. If you don’t know what to do, You don’t have anywhere to go, try this app. It’s seriously helping me..Version: 3.0

Immensely usefulAlthough I’m not a veteran, this app is fantastic for managing & tracking my PTSD patterns. Only fault I’ve found in the ~3 years I’ve used this is that the app doesn’t allow you to properly change the time of reminders for assessments, and occasionally it will continue to remind you even after turning off the feature in the app. Otherwise, an actual life-saver..Version: 3.1

Life ChangingI was made aware of this app while on a site regarding childhood sexual abuse. It was a live counseling type in session. I was encouraged to enter counseling but with the pandemic I had to wait so through Zoom I am in counseling and I was assessed and diagnosed with severe depression and PTSD. Therapy is once a week for 50 minutes and the online site for live sexual abuse survival help I have done twice since I fell apart March 1, 2020. But the online counselor referred me here and they said it was made for veterans but anyone can use it so I tried it out and I can honestly say it has saved my life. I am totally amazed at how accurate and detailed it is in the area of this condition. I mean it totally works for me and is anytime. I have probably spent more time with this app or referring back to it in my daily walk. The breathing part is essential to me and especially in this current environment breathing is everything. Now of course I have a very long way to go in my journey to being free of the shock I am trying to undo but you are the hand I have always needed to hold onto my whole life, please never let go of that extension you give to so many people who need a connection. One thing I saw my dad do a lot was reflect on the life he was still living in, but now he is gone. I will spend a lifetime trying to remember what he taught me. But when the clouds come to spoil my sunshine I know I can and will refer back to this app and get through the storm. It’s 4 am and I can’t sleep so now I am going to use the app to help me with some of my issues right now, thank you so much,.Version: 3.4

Thank youIt’s enormously helpful, thank you.Version: 3.1

AmazedI have non-combat complex PTSD and this is the best app I have tried. I have used other apps for general anxiety, mindfulness, meditation, etc, and while they helped some it wasn’t enough for me to keep using them. This more specialized approach has been very effective for me. It can be hard to think strait when I am triggered and the app walks me through it. It uses all sorts of tools and you can save your favorites. It has been a godsend for me between therapy sessions. I am so thankful I have it..Version: 3.4

So helpfulI’ve used this app monthly since I started therapy. Being able to track my symptoms and talk about them with my therapist has helped me see progress when I didn’t think there was any..Version: 3.0

I wasn’t sureWow, this really does help. If you are desperate and have several panic attacks a day, I didn’t think this was going to be as helpful. It is. I am shattered and this helps..Version: 3.5

Amazing tool for those PTSD!PTSD, or Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, has many distressing symptoms that a person may experience on a daily basis. This app is a smart way to manage anxious symptoms by pairing them with a relaxation technique such as soothing sounds, music, deep breathing, or pleasant images. This technique of counter-conditioning or graduated exposure was used by Joseph Wolpe- he believed anxious behavior would not happen when paired with incompatible relaxation behavior. He knew it would not be possible to feel anxious and relaxed at the same time. I personally used this app to manage my daily distress with PTSD symptoms, and found myself much more happy and relaxed after only a few weeks of use!.Version: 3.4

I’m glad for this app, thanksI think I’ll probably use this app about twice a month and d it helps a little bit but I think the main thing is its up to the individual use the tools.Version: 3.4

Love itIt helped me when i started gagging while thinking about a triggering event that happened to me..Version: 3.1

Apple App Store PTSD coachThe app I'm going to review is PTSD Coach. PTDS Coach has been an app on my phone for many years. The app has been designed to help patients learn about PTSD, and symptoms and learn different coping mechanisms. People with triggers causing strong emotional and physical reactions as well as recollections of the event are known to have PTSD (Post-traumatic stress disorder). Such as nightmares, anger, anxiety, and avoidance of situations that may bring back memories of the situation. This app not only connects with my therapist but also has an emergency plan to ensure my safety as a patient. It has a progress tracker along with what severity of symptoms to look out for. There are many tools to help with PTSD or even panic attacks. My favorite tools consist of different breathing techniques, meditation, scheduling a worrying time, and expressing myself with art. The tools are designed to calm the central nervous system allowing me to come back to reality quicker. For example, studies show that drawing helps patients to carefully express and approach traumatic past issues through linguistic communication. The app has helped me identify unknown triggers and figure out treatment plans that best suit my diagnosis. I find that this app has similar aspects of acceptance and commitment therapy. Researchers have found in psychological studies that acceptance and commitment therapy can help patients understand and focus their emotions in the present moment. The app lets you think about what is important to you like your core values and goals without focusing on the negative mindset with the help of a therapist if recommended or needed..Version: 3.5.3

Convenient help at my fingertips!!I am so happy I found this app! I’ve been dealing with ptsd-c for years and the older I get the more I am triggered. This app has so many helpful layers to it. I can even schedule symptoms checkers frequently if I want. Keeps me more aware and proactive with my mental health! I totally recommend downloading this app!.Version: 3.0

Great app! Really helps me.I’ve tried a lot of apps to get help with my complex PTSD. While several of them are useful at different times and in different ways (such as EMDR), this app put so many useful and calming tools in the palm of my hand wherever I am. It’s also not as “out there” or “hippie” (for lack of a better term - no offense intended) as some of the other resources, so I feel pretty good about it. Give it an honest shot. It may really help you recover when things start to get sideways. It does me. Good luck..Version: 3.4

AwesomeUse this all the time.Version: 3.4

This is just what I'd want! Can't think why this has not been reviewed. I work in neuropsychology and PTSD and I have recommended to everyone I know, pulled it out in therapy too. It's visually pleasing, evidence based and you can even listen to the information sections. For clients with access to the app I would recommend without reservation. Good assessment too..Version: 1.0.1

GreatVery helpful. I highly recommend this app. Thanks for making this app available..Version: 1.0.1

App is awesomeThe question was do I enjoy using this app? My answer is no I don’t enjoy using it, I wish I didn’t have ptsd. But I do. As far as this app goes, I use it almost everyday. Especially during my dark times. So app is awesome that it does help some of the time, just wish I didn’t have to use it..Version: 3.4

Great PTSD ResourceA useful resource for psychoeducation, self monitoring and management of symptoms of PTSD. Applicable outside the veteran context and a great adjunct to more formal supports and interventions.Version: 1.0.1

100% recommendTake you for being free. I have no money as I cannot work and health care apps are typically expensive for me. I just needed a very simple app that could calm me down. It’s exactly that..Version: 3.4

PTSD coachThank you for all your help and your support whenever I need it.Version: 3.1

Awesome!I live the daily quotes!.Version: 3.5

GoodI hope to use it more..Version: 3.1

Fabulous but still need ImprovementThis app was really helpful as it helped me to target what really triggers my unhealthy moments and thoughts-however it still could use some help. I think one of the predominant issues is that it’s only in one language, and the voiceover has an accent in that language. I think some people could easily be triggered hearing a certain language as it could reignite bad memories from visiting one country or a traumatic moment in which a specific language/dialect/accent was spoken. Personally, my ptsd stems somewhat from an incident where hearing an american accent really hurt me. I won’t go into how, but the audio-based meditation and exercises don’t really work solely because hearing that accent instead of my own really makes it hard to focus on doing what I’m supposed to do, and instead invites a lot of negativity and moments in my life that I’m currently trying my hardest to move on from. But it doesn’t help that I hear it so much so that I can’t move on. Except for that, I’d only ask that users have a chance to talk to someone-even if its just AI, as talking is such an important part of therapy for people with PTSD. Thank you :).Version: 3.5.3

A true life saver - available 24/7. Keeps getting better and better.Years ago, I started up with it at the suggestion of a first responder. It’s been my go-to support tool. Best used when I’ve combined it with other forms of recovery from CBT, CERT, DBT, EMDR, EFT, and more. PTSD & C-PTSD are quality of life issues. PTSD & C-PTSD are most definitely life and death. The best all-in-one 24/7 tool for helping me to manage severe C-PTSD & PTSD symptoms effectively and easily. I started using it and never gave up. Don’t give up. We’ve got this. P.S. Thank you to the developers. Kudos on a fantastic app that’s saving lives. Including mine..Version: 3.5

My feelings on the CoachI’m gonna make this short. I’m just getting into this app and addressing my issues I mean truly addressing the things that drag me through life is super new to me. And I still don’t know what to expect or what I’m looking for actually. However exploring the journey with the Coach assisting has helped lower my distress level with the different types of exercises. Along with my actual therapist and treatment I believe I’m gonna like it..Version: 3.1

PTSDJust kind of started don’t really know how to act..Version: 3.5

PTSDGreat app. Helps with my family.Version: 3.5.3

Fantastic appA truly great app for PTSD although the exercises could be used for other anxiety disorders as well. This app has really helped me and the tools on it such as symptom tracking, having a safe song (really helps with flashbacks) and special photos to have to hand when the going gets tough helps to keep things a bit more positive. Recently updated also and pleasantly surprised with a new “feelings” exercise which helps with identifying emotions- good when overwhelmed. Big thank you to those who created this app. It has made a big difference..Version: 3.1

Great toolbox!I am new to this treatment thing and like the idea of being able to set aside thpositive things and tracking my progress through this. Thank you! 👍.Version: 3.5

All inI just got a new therapist. First of all, I automatically was comfortable with that. So this will be one of many tools utilized because to get me to do the work of having Integrity..Version: 3.0

DepressionI struggle with severe depression and anxiety, I have found this app very useful in my darkest moments. It has helped me tremendously. Thank you.Version: 3.5

I love it butIt has help me though my ptsd but it’s only about war veterans ptsd not others, it feels like my ptsd is not valid because I wasn’t in war.Version: 3.5

AwesomeI learned of this app about 3 years ago. It has become my number one tool I give my clients. I am a licensed counselor and am certified as a trauma therapist in EMDR. This app puts all the good coping skills in one place. It is user friendly. When someone is triggered they can’t think. So this app has tools with audio to walk you through what to do. JUST USE IT!.Version: 3.5.3

Great AppThis app has been super helpful! Great tools I also use the Family Coach App.Version: 3.4

Needs a safety planThe app needs a Suicide safety plan feature.Version: 3.0

If I could give 10 out of 5 stars I wouldHonestly the best app. I am so thankful that this app is able to help keep me grounded and okay on days I don’t have therapy, or on nights that are hard, or when I feel alone or lots of shame. This app has helped me tremendously..Version: 3.1

AlrightIt's good so far. Just wish you could do the self assessment daily as i think weekly is to long. Symptoms can vary from day to day and would be helpful to track.Version: 1.0.1

Sounds Help Trough The NightAs was glad Trina Blake recommend these. I’ve used them several time’s, the “sounds” calm me to sleep. That and a “cold bucket” of water or in a sink. It take’s me from a 10 to 0. A Veteran with PTS!!!🇺🇸🇺🇸🙏👍😎.Version: 3.5.3

Use as an aid to surviving if you have PTSDI didn't realise the app hadn't been reviewed by anyone suffering from PTSD. I have used this app since October 2011. It's been a life saver as still awaiting NHS treatment for my ilness. If you suffer from PTSD, for whatever reason, give this a try - you might not like every tip, but the ones you like will help you survive the symptoms. I have taken a star off because the Track Symptom History has not saved all my progress, so I can only show my GP the last 4months, instead of 9, which isn't as helpful. Be patient and try the app in the moments when you are losing it. I am thankful to have it, and it was free!.Version: 1.0.1

PTSDExcellent tool to have keeps me from doing something stupid.Version: 3.4
