Metronomics Metronome for Positive User Reviews

Inexpensive yet pricelessMy drum set drowned out my old metronome. Practice meant counting out and often stopping (my bad habit). I can now hear thanks to a headset. The available options makes repetitive exercises bearable thus allowing for a efficient practice. This app was purchased solely on recommendations, ad my name to the list..Version: 4.0.3

Absolutely fantasticI can't recommend this app highly enough. Incredibly user-friendly, flexible, stable, and sounds good. The majority of my metronome usage is a simple click at a simple tempo -- this metronome sounds and works great doing that, of course. But the way that it can be adapted to basically any rhythmic pattern, with full volume control, sound sample control, probability control, has made it an indispensable part of my practicing, especially for complicated rhythmic material with original claves, etc. The ability to save, transfer, and customise is unbeatable, and the price is totally a bargain. This is THE metronome you should get..Version: 5.2

Fantastic!Absolutely incredible app. Just about everything is customisable: every problem i can think of the app has a solution for. I'm using it pretty much every day to work on everything from polyrhythms, hemiolas, subdivisions and general internal sense of time. Haven't run into any glitches, only thing is i can't seem to delete my saved metronome presets, the only option is to overwrite. Otherwise, extraordinary value for money! Innovative, flexible and slick..Version: 4.0.1

Simply the bestThis is hands down the best metronome app out there and a bargain at the price. I've tried lots of them but this came recommended by a friend of mine who is a pro jazz musician and music college teacher. The ability to play in asymmetric time signatures, have mixed-meter passages and have random bars played silently so you can improve your timing are all fantastic features. There are loads of other cool features; the app can be used as a simple metronome or a complex sequencer, it's down to you. Furthermore, John Nastos, the creator of this amazing app, has always responded to feedback I've given, fixing occasional bugs I've found and making improvements. Fantastic, keep up the good work! Thanks!.Version: 5.4.2

Now Better and Still the BestUse it for: Drum Practice. Favorite Features: Custom subdivisons to place the accent anywhere you need to hear it. That earned the 5 stars. The wheel and grid tabs are very helpfull. Least Favorite Feature: Most of the sounds are unpleasent and distracting. GUI Needs: Where is the overall volume control? Display the title of the metronome that is currently playing. Allow tempo changes from the grid and wheel tabs. Tempo change hot-key.Version: 2022.1.1

Awesome App!This is hands down the best metronome app! The sequencer feature allows you to custom build a metronome with any phrasing imaginable. I set up a click in 19/16 to practice Keep it Greasy. Highly recommend this App..Version: 5.4.2

Impressive!!I was initially intrigued by this non-traditional take on a very common music tool. After ten minutes I'm completely sold! Easy to program and save. Won't be buying a Dr. Beat anytime soon;).Version: 3.0.1

Best metronome app out thereThis thing comes with a ton of tools and features. You can customize time signatures, divisions, and even the sound of the click from a huge variety of sounds. You can make your drum tracks entirely from this app. Definitely a must have for any musician looking for something as simple as a click to their own custom set..Version: 6.0.3

Had it since the startIt’s an amazing app with so much power. I’ve had it since it first came out. It’s amazing..Version: 7.0

Wonderful & Addictive! This is the 4th metronome I've bought from the App Store and it has become my hands-down favorite. In fact I can't tear myself away from it! The ability to mute a user-defined number of measures is a KILLER feature. In my genre we play a lot of dance tunes with 8- bar parts. With this app I can make the clicks audible for the first 8 measures then mute the next 8 measures and so on ad infinitum. This is incredibly useful in that it lets me see if I am speeding up or slowing down. I do this by closing my eyes and listening to see if I land back on the beat when the click starts again. I can feel my groove getting steadier after just 24 hours! Letting the user define the number of measures that are audible vs. those that are in audible are what sets this app apart from another app that mutes the beats randomly. That sounded cool at first, but in practice I found that the intervals of audible clicks vs. inaudible clicks were much too short to pose a challenge. Not so with Metronomics. This app gives YOU complete control to set the bar as high or low as you want. So get Metronomics -- you won't be disappointed. Love, love, love this app!.Version: 4.0.3

Great appI found this app very useful and handy. Easy to work with aswell..Version: 3.0.1

Best app for polyrhythmsHaving just learned a piece for the Wellesley Composers Conference that required playing 7 in the time of 2, 7:4, and 7:5, I tried out the apps Metron and Polyrhythm before coming across Metronomics. For flexibility and especially the ability to alternate with silent bars to test your own subdividing, this is the best app I have yet found for practicing complex polyrythms..Version: 2.0

Brilliant AppProfessional and beginners alike are able to use this, I have been teaching guitar and this is a great learning tool for my students and myself. Worth the money..Version: 4.0.1

Infinite possibilitiesThis metronome is extremely customizable. Goes up to 500 bpm, you can select any beats that you want to hear in a measure. You can do anything that any other metronome can do and more as far as I know. The possibilities are more or less infinite, as there really aren't any noticeable restrictions. Buy this metronome if you want something that can handle any sort of rhythmic feel or situation that you could ever think of. Also, thank you for making this!.Version: 4.0.3

Some improvements and fixThe app have been improving with a lot of option whoever the 6/8 is not working I can not set the metronome to count 6 counts or doing in two count. That time is not working properly.Version: 8.1.1

Everything from basic to Amazing varietyAnyone from the beginner to a pro will benefit from this app. I've played drums about 35 years. Best metronome for the price anywhere..Version: 6.1

Very Useful and Unique MetronomeI loved this metronomish app immediately. Very clear, user-friendly controls. Especially like the randomized subdivisions making it feel more like your practicing to a groove. I expect I'll be using this metronome above all others on my iPhone..Version: 1.0

Great!I think this app is great. I use it when I'm practising and teaching..Version: 5.2

Best metronome availableTitle says it all. Super futuristic features..Version: 8.1.2

AmazingHas the power of metronomes that cost over $100 and gets better with every update. I've been using this for over 2 years. The ONLY THING I think that would make this app BETTER is if there was a voice option for the sound sample that would count the time for you like the nice boss metronomes have.Version: 5.3

Brilliant app....best metronome I've usedI don't normally write reviews but I had to for this app. I'm a teacher and have tried a LOT of different metronomes, trying to find a good one with a combination of accuracy, subdivisions, ability to change sounds and ease of use. Metronomics meets all of those criteria and I also bought the Mac version because I thought so much of the iOS app..Version: 5.0.2

Suitable for Carnatic beatsYou can create patterns like "tisra jati triputa talam" (3+2+2) VERY easily with this. It also adds random variations, so it is almost like playing with a live drummer, which makes practice much less tedious and much more enjoyable for a longer time. Well worth the modest cost..Version: 3.0.1

Failed to give click after updateUPDATE: Kudos to Metronomics team, they fixed the problem as fast as Coltrane playing Giant Steps!! —————//-////// I’m on a 5S with ios 12.4.1, and after updating the app, it just stopped working. The app opens up regularly yet when I tap on start nothing happens, no click. Demanding a fix to this..Version: 8.1.6

Great practice toolEasy to use -- tons of features, many of which are useful even for professional players. Custom subdivisions are a nice touch..Version: 3.0.1

Outstanding! This app has a simple premise, given real power and flexibility by the use of a well designed sequencer which can be called on multiple times if needed. Minor note: it would be nice to be able to turn the metronome on and off while editing subdivision options. Overall: so intuitive and powerful it should become the standard..Version: 7.0.1

Best metronomeThis is actually better than an 160 dollar metronome from Sam ash. It can do weird time signatures, polymeter and polyrhythm. It's awesome. Plus you can swap clicks for drum sounds. I've got rhythms that sound like gnarly metal drummers on here. Very satisfying.Version: 5.2

So simple, but mind-bogglinigly flexibleThis has been my daily use metronome for years now. There's nothing in your way when you want to just want to sit down and practice, but the possibilities are limitless when you want to challenge yourself or need to figure out something complicated. Add and subtract custom subdivisions and rhythms, choose from a range of great sounds, and save metronomes to use later or share with students and colleagues. And I still can't get over how brilliant the mixed meter screen is..Version: 5.1.1

Perfect! No other metronome app has everything this does. I needed to find a met. that I could program to loop, change meters and speed up gradually. This does it and so much more like creating polyrhythms and periodically going silent to test your internal timing. Now I can program a click track to a complicated song and never touch it..Version: 5.2

FantasticThis is great. Can practice all the weird subdivisions.Exactly what I needed. Please consider adding a "swing" fader to aid practicing swing/shuffle feels in the increments between swung and straight. That would be really really useful....Version: 6.0.2

You must get this metronome! This is a must have tool for musicians of any skill level. There are so many options and customizable settings to help work on your time. Great job!!!.Version: 6.2

More than a metronomeAs a percussionist who plays congas, most metronomes leave much to be desired. The extreme flexibility of metronomics is in another league. More of a drum sequencer than a metronome . Even with a couple of minor bugs (quickly sorted by the developer) well worth 5 stars!.Version: 3.0.1

Metronomics MetronomeMetronomics is the most versatile metronome I've seen. It seems to have an almost endless number of features for customization. The random rhythm option makes this app very unique and fun to practice with. Great for beginners as well as pros!.Version: 5.1.1

Very hip metronome app!Great sounds that are easy to change. Endless subdivision choices. 500bpm!! And best of all it has accurate settings of bpm (unlike many metronome apps that I have used). A highly recommended practice tool created by a musician for musicians!.Version: 4.0.3

Great for polyrhythmsIt's an awesome metronome. I use it all the time..Version: 6.2

Thank YouGoodbye Dr. Beat. I really like the sound choices. Perhaps add a visa blue square under the subdivision that would blink - that subdivision. Nice visual cue option (turn on/off switch) to help teach students. I'm a 25+ year music teacher..Version: 4.0.1

ExcellentApart from a fiddly interface issue (the tempo tap is too close to the up/down arrows), this is a beautiful metronome. The variable volume, silent measure and other options are quickly accessible from the main screen (no multiple menus/config screens to distract your practice). I wish there could be a standalone hardware version of this metronome, but it would probably be huge and too expensive. Many thanks to the developer for such a thoughtful design..Version: 5.4.2

Excellent MetronomeWorks great. I prefer it over the Dr. Beat ($120) that I have been using for the last 2-3 years. The option to have the metronome be silent for a selected number of measures is particularly useful..Version: 4.0.1

FINALLY - Thank You!Okay, so after 1h32m of usage, this app seems truly excellent! Finally a metronome capable of sequencing, polyrhythms, random variation, and training sequences. The variety of sounds is wide, and the app itself seems accurate and stable. The interface is very well thought out, given the complex functionality and the small screen real estate to work with. Currently running on iPhone 3GS with iOS 6.1.3. Well done, Mr. Nastos!.Version: 4.0.3

Nothing Else AroundThe Metronomics IOS app lets me take the functionality of Metronomics with me wherever I go. Before getting this app I had no idea that making complex rhythms could be this easy and efficient. And once they are constructed, I can practice them as much as I wish. This app has the functionality of a metronome but it is so much more than that. I highly recommend this to anyone in any stage of their musical journey..Version: 8.1.7

Best metronome app ever!I was just looking for a metronome app but this is much much more than that. It has features beyond my wildest expectations, an intuitive and easy user interface, excellent documentation and much more. It not only provides just about any beat or rhythm I needed but also has taught me much about them. A lot of thought went into this app. I highly recommend it.Version: 3.0.1

Excellent Functionality, Difficult User InterfaceFrom what I can tell, this is about the only 64 bit Metronome app available that can do timed speedup for speed drills - e.g. start at 75 BPM, increase by 10 BPM every 32 bars. Which is a great practice technique. The metronome itself works beautifully. Even better than my long lamented 32 bit "Metronome" app, now no longer working on modern OS. The UI needs help. The overall paradigm is a little odd, but I got used to that fairly quickly. The problems occur in the details ... for example it's really important to be able to move quickly around the top row of settings that control the BPM, lead in, speedups, etc -- but the horizontal scroll bar is barely visible, and is confused by a static UI element that further makes it hard to locate even when you know it's there. Similarly that all-important top bar doesn't scale out to show more controls when you expand the screen. Great programming job, very useful, needs a UI review and rework, which shouldn't be too terribly difficult. I am *so* glad to have access to these features again..Version: 2021.1.7

The Perfect Practice ToolI bought this app on the advice of a friend, and I was skeptical at first whether I would fully utilize all the features packed into this app. I have to say I'm beyond impressed with the sequencer (which is surprisingly user-friendly) and the flexible subdivision menu is very useful. This thing has an unbelievable set of tricks up its sleeves, things I never would have expected a metronome to do. My favorite feature by far, however, has to be "independence" mode, which for me is a fantastic tool to practice my timekeeping. As a professional musician I will definitely work this into my regular practice routine..Version: 2.0

Very Happy W MetronomicsI'm very happy with the Metronomics application, especially with the ability to easily set a swing time. If there is another product with the power and ease of use that his has, I'm not aware of it. For music practice this is a great product. I agree with the reviewer who suggests a voice count option a la Boss, but other than that can't think of any lacks in this app..Version: 5.2

FantasticThis app is just the bees knees - all singing all dancing. The very slight downside is it takes a while to find your way around it - for me anyway, but well worth the effort!.Version: 5.4.1

This metronomeThis metronome has helped me so much with learning time. I'm not able to play fast things at normal time while still knowing where the upbeat is!.Version: 5.4.2

Killer metronome app! What a great idea for a metronome app - it doesn't just pound out quarter notes, this thing will actually help improve your ability to keep time..Version: 1.0

More than a MetronomeThis is a versatile and powerful app. There are features that expand on simple metronome usage such as meter, audible/inaudible bars, tempo alteration (ramping). Add to that randomized cross rhythms, rhythm layering, odd meters, and a variety of samples, and you'll have enough tools to practice rhythm from any perspective. Highly recommended..Version: 6.2

Best Metronome!!Features I never even thought I needed and now can't do without! Wonderful product, well thought out design, highly recommended..Version: 5.2

The best metronome there is!This metronome is great! It's wonderful for figuring out polyrhythms, training your sense of time, and much more! I use it every time I practice. Definitely buy this metronome; it's worth it..Version: 6.2

Best metronome for iOSMetronomics is a great tool — easy to use and has all the features you could want in a metronome. It has everything I need as a professional player and is great for my less experienced students, too. The new interface looks great and the new animated subdivisions are a nice touch as are the new options to speed up/slow down over time..Version: 5.1.1

Fabulous!Great metronome/ drum machine. Most fun I have had practicing with a metronome in years!.Version: 4.0.2

Great app!Love it! Great practice tool, and very flexible in terms of usefulness. I love using the sequencer to build patterns to practice over, and the randomization features are interesting as well. My wish list for future versions would be a ride cymbal sound added to the available sound set..Version: 2.0

Incredible! There is no question in my mind that this is now THE standard by which every other metronome should be judged. I hope the sharing gets fixed, but even without that this would get five stars..Version: 6.1

Heavy hitterThis metronome can truly do just about anything you want (including staying out of your way and just being a nice, solid, simple metronome). And, if you're more adventurous, you can go deep and sequence wild and satisfying rhythmic interactions. I love this (and I've only scratched the surface). Combine that with a developer who is wholly invested in making this the best it can be. A no brainer (PS.. go Pro. so affordable and so worth it).Version: 2021.0.2

Helps me write polyrhythms. This is the only app I've ever paid for. I would recommend this to any musician, especially any drummer. I use this to write complicated drum fills or polyrhythmic drum grooves and listen to how it sounds. It has many selection sounds of a full basic drumset and you sequence them to write out quick little parts. After I've created it and listened, I slow it down then learn it on my drumset. Worth every penny!! Glad I bought this app..Version: 4.0.3

Makes practicing more fun.I love this app. It makes practicing more fun. It has a beautiful and easy to learn user interface. I have tried many metronomes and this is the best one, period. It has made me a better player..Version: 6.2

MetronomicsI use the metronomics app all the time The App works as intended and is compliant for my purposes. I also purchased the PitchCenter if your serious! Buy the app Vic.Version: 8.0

Great Metronome boring interfaceGreat Metronome has all the functionality I'm looking for including a countdown timer and tempo increaser. Hard to find apps like this for the MacOS. The interface is nothing flash but it does the job well.Version: 2023.0

Great applicationThis is an excellent app. Very logically laid out with excellent sounds and features. I'm sure that all professional musicians (and those that would like to be) will find this tool to their advantage in their own personal practice or in rehearsal situations. Get it and explore..Version: 4.0.1

Best of the Metronome Apps!I've probably gone thru a dozen different metronome apps but with the latest release of Metronomics, I finally have everything I want in a metronome in one app. It's very flexible and full-featured but the interface is way more intuitive than the other apps I've tried. I've also found the author to be very responsive so I couldn't be happier..Version: 5.2

Best metronome for the serious musician! This is the best metronome that I have worked with. The polyrhythmic feature by itself is worth the download, not to mention all the other features that come with it. Best metronome for any serious musician!!.Version: 5.4.2

BrilliantBeen meaning to review this forever. Finally did so when I got an Apple Watch and, lo and behold, a Metronomics app for the watch shows up! The developer really cares about his apps, and he’s a musician! Best metronome in the App Store..Version: 7.0.1

Great practice tool! This is a great practice tool! It makes you wonder why nobody thought of it before. Cool options that are unavailable on other metronome apps..Version: 1.0
