RetirePlan for Positive User Reviews

Very easyThis app can be as easy or as detailed as you wish. To get started it is very easy, however as we move forward maybe decide to include an extra pension, varying rates of usage of funds or change the date when you retire-the app makes it really quite simple. It is also worth noting that the app takes the currency that the iPad is set for and it's not just for US dollars..Version: 1.16

Wonderful app to dream with...We love this application. It allows us to put many scenarios into our retirement plan. We actually put in one scenario where we reduced our yearly income by $5000 a year and took a $40,000 (inside cabin) around the world cruise. And found that it made only a small amount of difference. I love that we have a tool to figure that kind of financial stuff out? Makes the dream more fun....Version: 1.16

Love this AppThis is a great retirement tool! Easy to use and understand. I would like to see an option to do Roth IRA conversion for specific years. It would make it a complete package. Thanks for considering to make this change. I think many people would find this helpful..Version: 1.18

Many features that other apps lackI like that you can put in market crashes at any time and also add in things like pension income, windfalls etc. Well worth the money and I use it frequently in conjunction with other apps and online tools. My advice is take the time to click all the options and check things out..Version: 1.18

FantasticAs a financial planner I can make use of this right now with clients. Simple and does the job of visualising a clients plans. Love, love, love it!.Version: 1.2

Good developer feedbackThis is pretty easy to use as other people have reported. It does what I wanted. There was a problem with social security not being taxed but I sent in an email about it and got a response back the same day and a fix was out a few days later. That’s good service, hence the 5 star rating..Version: 1.18

Great AppThis is a terrific tool if you are planning for retirement or already retired. I’ve been using it for a number of years updating information for the app as changes in my expected income or expenses change. It’s well designed and easy to use..Version: 1.16

Simply Than-you.I’ve used this app for years and it has always proven itself to be a fantastically detailed and accurate planning tool and great for performing what if’s. I truly appreciate this app..Version: 1.18

Excellent supportResponded to my new user queries within an hour. Brilliant..Version: 1.14

Beats all other plannersWe’ve used RetirePlan for several years. We have several investment properties and a diverse portfolio. Once you input the numbers and assumptions, you can simulate several scenarios and adjust for your desired outcome. It helps us stay on track with our retirement plans and we consult with it each time we make a financial move. Good job folks! Keep adding to it please..Version: 1.18

ExcellentVery easy to use. Comprehensive but simple..Version: 1.13

Great appOne of the best retirement planning tools I’ve ever used. Allows a person to quickly look at their long term financial retirement strategy and life events. It tracks very close to my much more complex spreadsheet that I used to test out this app. Well done to the developer!.Version: 1.18

Very useful APPThis APP is easy to use and versatile..Version: 1.12

GREAT App!!!I have been using for years and find it one of the easiest, comprehensive, and informative apps for capital sufficiency analysis. And I am a 35+ year professional in wealth management. How can I contact the developer?.Version: 1.18

Simple but PowerfulThis app is one of the best kept secrets on the Internet for retirement planning. I have used retirement planners paid and unpaid versions at major brokerage firm sites and this is by far the best. There is no requirement to share account information. The beauty of this app is it’s simplicity. Hint.. if you do not see something you need to add to your plan tap the plus sign😀.Version: 1.18

Awesome and easyBest planner in the App Store. I built my scenario, got my projection, and sent it to my financial adviser and he said this was as good or better than his $1000 a year software. I highly recommend!.Version: 1.17

RMD?Great app, one of the best and worth the price. How about adding Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) on IRAs & 401k based on age for the next release?.Version: 1.18

Quick, easy, clear -- answers the question "Am I saving enough?"RetirePlan rocks! This app let me get a meaningful picture of our retirement savings situation in just a few minutes. I then added more of the "what if" events to see their impact -- everything from changing how much we expect to spend later in retirement to simulated market crashes. Having played with this app, I can be confident we will be able to adjust should the unexpected occur. Since that was so fast, I next created a "retirement plan" for our college savings, using the kids college start dates as "retirement." FTW!.Version: 1.16

So good I am buying extra scenarios just to pay the author. This app is excellent, and by far the best of it's type that I have come across. I have in fact used it to help me calculate out my savings and retirement income such that I cemented the confidence to retire 15 years early! Recent updates have added the ability to really stress some of the scenarios, like adding in a market crash and then vary rates of return as the market recovers, i.e. Just how the market works. As I say in my title, I have found this app so invaluable that I am going to buy some extra scenarios, not because I need them, but to reward the author with some income from the otherwise free app. £1.49 well spent! One development I would really like to see, if the author reads this, is to separate out savings and investments, so I could apply two different rates of return, and split my portfolio between these two. Until now I have had to assume things like a 4% market return, to take the average of savings v investments, and to input a 15% or 20% market crash when I really want to put 30 or 40%..Version: 1.15

Like an icebergWhat you see, the output, is only the tip. The real work is underneath and depends on realistic inputs. Before I found this app, I created my own complex spreadsheet with extensive inputs in many tabs for income and expenses with expectations, such as travel, for my remaining retirement years. My spreadsheet contained random numbers for items like stock market behavior and interest rates whereas this app has sliders that function similarly. This app does an excellent job without having to be a spreadsheet and financial nerd..Version: 1.18

GreatExcellent app thanks.Version: 1.8

Nice, Simple AppRead some of the reviews and felt compelled to add my own. Firstly, you should ignore most of the reviews that are years old, as they include complaints that have long since been addressed. More recent complaints seem to be the app lacking the ability to address RMD’s or different retirement dates for spouses. This appears to be true, however, I would counter that this is well beyond the intended scope of this app. This is a great tool for simple “what if’s?” to assess the feasibility of various saving or spending scenarios. Simply put, it can get you in the ballpark. Expecting a $5 iPad app to calculate a comprehensive retirement plan is simply unreasonable - the real world is far too complex. If you want to have some fun and noodle around with savings levels, retirement dates and the like, have at it, you won’t be disappointed. I have been using it for years in this way. Poke around the drop down list when you select “+” and you be able to concoct some workarounds to help with your specific situation. ****Jan 2024 Update**** Late 2023 provided a clunky update that moved all input to tiles along the bottom of the screen. Another update in Jan 2024 has already addressed this, moving the inputs back to the left side of the screen where they started. Note that at some point (not sure when), RMD’s were added, but it is still not possible to designate different retirement dates for spouses. Still the best five bucks I ever spent..Version: 2.0.2

Great appI use an investment house with their own proprietary retirement software, but I like having the option to play with my own scenarios. When I use the same info as supplied to my investment folks, this app gets the same results as theirs. Two thumbs up!.Version: 1.18

PkermThis is an outstanding app it allows a range of options to be applied in order to determine future savings needs. It should be a mandatory planning tool for all Australian workers to avoid future financial hardship in retirement and social security reliance.Keep the great updates coming..Version: 1.11

Highly helpful!I hope you are going to continue this app! It is highly helpful being able to see how much income can be removed when you are retired, and how long and how well you can make your money last. You can play with different scenarios, and I see nothing comparable in giving a person quick and easy ideas of how they can control there money, and when. I appreciate this app immensely!.Version: 1.18

Great appOf all of the retirement apps I find this one asking more specific questions and goals based on your lifestyle, income and spending habits. I also like the chart that shows where your savings will be based on your input of longevity after retirement.Version: 1.16

Now on iphone!!!Yay, now on my iphone not just ipad, thank you..Version: 2.0.2

Best Retirement PlannerEasy to use and allows you to plan for recurring income (pensions/Social Security/etc.), expected/estimated investment contributions and performance, retirement timing, and one time expense planning. Great to have the ability to export to excel for further assessment of the data. Love this app. All other apps that I have tied want information i don’t want them have and/or try to sell you services. Just enter you information, analysis the results (charts easy to use and understand), make the appropriate adjusts to your desired results, and then go make it happen..Version: 1.18

Retirement planning done rightThis is hands down the best retirement planning tool that I’ve encountered. My wife and I have talked to several retirement planners from the four large firms and I have looked at their rudimentary tools and I can see how they simplify their tools down so they are worthless. They try to convince us to go with them and pay commissions to line their pockets and do a mediocre job of managing our wealth. They always say, what about if this happens, you can’t plan for that (in their tools you can’t) and I show them where I’ve planned for it already. I am grateful to the developer for providing this excellent tool. It requires a bit of work but it is worth it..Version: 1.19.2

Best Retirement ModelThis app is a steal for $4.99. You will search high and low to find the flexibility to change assumptions on the fly for rates of return, inflation, market shifts, Social Security, dynamic retirement income shifting, one time and recurring expenses...too many features to name here!.Version: 1.17

Excellent app; but important improvement required!I have recently started using this app having been recommended it by a financial advisor. It is very easy to use and has provided excellent clarity to my financial position which has given me the confidence to retire many years earlier than I originally envisaged. However I totally agree with another user’s comments in that the app should include the functionality to enter different rates of return for different asset categories. For example, in the UK, cash saving rates are as low as 1.5% but the forecast returns for stocks are likely to be significantly higher. This means you have to calculate a weighted average return dependant on the mix and value of assets held..Version: 1.18

The best out thereThis really is the best retirement app out there, hands down. Lots of options and configurations. Multiple scenarios, etc. Solid piece of work here. My only complaint is: you can’t see your rate of withdraw. Unless I’m missing it? Or maybe after setting your income slider, it would be helpful if it could show what your rate of withdraw is?.Version: 1.18

This is a great retirement planning toolI love having every bit of my investments in one place.Version: 1.16

Love this app!Easy to use, lots of options, meaningful reports. Perfect for exploring alternate retirement plans..Version: 1.16

Highly recommendedI recommend RetirePlan to everyone, even those with a solid budget (YNAB) and plan for retirement. I especially like the "Market Crash" scenario. Anyone not preparing for a significant market correction is just fooling themselves..Version: 1.18

Great plannerGreat app to have some fun (or not) when planning for retirement. I used to do this in excel using the Fv formulae, but this is way more advanced allowing you to take into account anticipated future expenditure and various scenarios including adjusting the expected rate of return etc..Version: 1.3

Been using it for years nowThis is the app I go to to make sure I am thinking right about all the variables that go into planning to slow down. I love this app..Version: 1.16

Very well done planning app!A great tool for the iPAD. Being able to add different variables and graphically see the results is very helpful. The app is very easy to use and is a bargain for $4.99. I can include all of my pensions, spouse and my own social security, simulate a market crash, add recurring or one time income or expenses, add a side hustle retirement job, and on and on and on. I am very please with this purchase..Version: 1.17

Nice!Nice app! Can really have a quite complete image of my retirement plan. Should have an option to change interest return in time as my investments will change as i get older....Version: 1.8

Best retirement plannerThis is the best retirement scenario planner to see if your money is going to be enough for the lifestyle you choose. The only thing that would make it better is variable returns based on historical data since the market swings rather than a linear return. Maybe an update??.Version: 1.18

Fantastic AppJust purchased app and thrilled with it. Well thought out, user friendly, seems to be bomb-proof. This app deserves the highest rating. By the way, this is the first time ever that I have rated or commented on an app..Version: 1.14

Best retirement planning app in the storeFirst, RetirePlan is the best planning app I have found, anywhere. It correlates well with professional services such as Schwab and A G Edwards. Being able to run multiple scenarios and compare them is very helpful. Lots of input options can cover almost any circumstance you might have. Easy to use and modify. Best of all when I ran into some questions RetirePlan responded the next day with an thorough explanation. You will not be disappointed, unless you have not been saving as needed..Version: 1.18

New update - veery niiceI wrote the previous review, lamenting the fact that the initial revision of this app did not show all the variables on the left-hand column the way the previous one did. That’s been updated and now I would say this is about as good as it gets. Thank you developers!.Version: 2.0.3

Simple yet PowerfulThis is a very successful product as you can open it is seconds and it provides a complete picture of your retirement just as quickly. Comparing it to my current “paid for” product from Fidelity, it provides more features, charts and performance. The data is much easier to interpret!.Version: 1.18

Love This App!I was really happy to see the latest update. I am always worried that Apple might make some iOS change that breaks something and I really don't want to use anything else. My only request is if you might be able to either come up with some sort of web based application or native Mac OS app to run on my Macbook? I know I can run the iPad app on MacOS now but it still has sizing issues and artifacts. I would love a web app to be able to have the same functionality from the iPad app in the browser. I know this is not a minor undertaking and would require some sort of subscription to pay for the hosting and data storage. Anyway, thanks again for your great application!.Version: 1.19.2

Simple to use, very insightfulI bought this several years ago and found it incredibly helpful. Over time, I built more accurate cost and income scenarios that allowed me to better understand how decisions today will impact disposable income in the future. The flexibility afforded by this program is fantastic for a light touch or intensive model build..Version: 1.18

Amazing retirement planning toolFound this today. I’ve been planning for saving for retirement for over ten years and had created a number of income plans in excel. This app allows me to make real income modeling !!!. Given I have pensions in both the US and UK it allow me to model and sorts of scenarios... can see me using this regularly.Version: 1.17

Nice tool but lacking a couple important featuresNice tool. Great visualization and lots of ways to adjust but what about things like: - Spouses retire at different ages - Survivor benefit for pension - Spouse pension.Version: 1.18

Retirement planningLove the latest version. I have been using this app for several years and the new upgrades make it even better to project your retirement goals. Other retirement planning apps are tied to commercial financial companies that want you to invest in their securities. Retirement Plan is independent and not tied to any financial institutions. Great job with this version..Version: 2.0.0

Thanks for fixing this appMany thanks for making this great app work again. I was fed up when it stopped working for a few days, mainly because it was so useful. Now it is fixed and I am happy again. Thank you..Version: 1.5

Been using this for yearsI have tried countless apps and online versions. I have been pushing this app on numerous scenarios. Very very well done!.Version: 1.18

A Valuable and Easy to Use ToolEase of use and a unique user interface make this financial planner a joy to use. Excellent use of graphical displays give one the overall picture in seconds. We only have one problem, which is determining where we enter our employer pension? Where do we enter this? (For instance Public Employees Retirement System anticipated pension?) Otherwise very highly recommended!.Version: 2.0.0

Great planning toolThis is a great tool to estimate retirement resources. My only complaint is that it doesn’t account for the required minimum distribution from IRA/Deferred Comp accounts. You can add the approximate income but it isn’t deducted from your IRA balances..Version: 1.18

Really usefulWhat a great app for retirement scenario planning! I would pay for a regularly updated version with just a few improvements - such as the ability to save scenarios and graph different fields..Version: 1.8

Retirement PlanningRetirePlan is an excellent app which allows you to plan your retirement with incomes from multiple sources. It is very detailed and with a bit of imagination, you can tailor to your country of origin. Australians have a comprehensive super scheme and this app with rental returns from investments, input as a pension can give you a detailed annual income after retirement..Version: 1.10

An Outstanding Aid to Retirement PlanningI made a previous, positive review of this app, but now that I have had an opportunity to play more with it I own it to the author to expand my review. This app allows you to factor in market corrections, major crashes, and changes in portfolio rates of return as one gets older. In addition it allows the user to factor in a variety of future expenses and income streams. For the small cost this planning app is an essential tool for evaluating risk tolerance scenarios and life changes. I recommend it to everyone..Version: 2.0.0
