✓ Does not work as intended/advertisedI don’t know what I’m doing wrong. My VOIP provider recommends this app to connect my business’ toll-free number to my personal smartphone. The free version of this app is barely functional. The hoops and jumps that one must go through to receive calls through their smartphone, only to discover that there is basically no way to avoid my personal voicemail. If you don’t want a client to reach your personal voicemail, I am apparently supposed to leave the app on at all times. My VOIP provider SAYS that I can leave the app open on the background, but that is not true. The app must be the active open app on your screen, and you can’t be using your phone for any other purpose otherwise calls won’t come through. Zoiper has a setting to auto-load its app upon your phone’s start-up. Plain and simply, This setting does not work. You must open the app yourself, and you must keep the app open at all times. Finally, every time you load Zoiper you get advertisements for its paid subscription service. I finally relented and purchased the paid version (something about “push notifications”) and there is no difference at all. The app is not functional. I do not know what I am doing wrong, am at my wit’s end, and frankly feel Apple should not allow Zoiper to be sold. Perhaps I do not understand the limitations of VOIP. I am more than happy to be educated by SOMEBODY rather than being taken advantage of. Please advise. EDIT: I forgot to mention the original reason for my review... the SMS function in the app has been non-functional for weeks. If I had to guess, the keyboard is getting in the way of the text box. About two weeks ago, for the first time ever, I was looking at my phone at the exact right time and was able to accept an incoming business call. The call dropped THREE times and every time the client said he could not hear me at all (and I could not hear his answers). Finally, I called him back from my personal number and had no quality issues at all. This is simply too many issues for one app..Version: 3.32

I have to close and reopen the iOS app all the time and it takes a second to register. They will work together once but then it stops after a call. The only time it rings is if the desktop app is completely closed. However, even then about 25% of the time the app doesn’t open or freezes up. Calls often get disconnected while talking to customers. I even pay the $1 a month to get “better” call prioritization but it doesn’t seem to do anything at all. ✓ Quality & Sound IssuesCan't use in speaker mode as volume is very low & even when phone volume is sufficient this apps volume is not & no way to increase it. Often the app won't work using Wifi connection & have to turn off wifi & turn on mobile data, so end up using a fair bit of data allowance to make calls, which works out expensive to use, negating the reason for using it! Gets me out of trouble when on the road, but not ideal. We thoroughly troubleshot the issue and had to create SIP extensions for all users just to allow inter-office functionality. We use IAX on a non-standard port & we don’t allow SIP outside the firewall for various reasons, so over 60% of our workforce is dead in the water until we find a better IAX solution. A check of the GUI of the provider revealed that registration was indeed lost. Do, no calls could be received. I discontinued my subscription and removed the junk app from my phone.
