✓ Nearly a good appNo other app does what this one does. It’s a shame and frustrating that for years this app has continued to lose imagery that gets attached to various entries..Version: 6.5.3
✓ Good while it lastedThis app was great years ago. App worked great before I was forced to update my phone software and app. Now the new update is horrendous and annoying. Previous app had a few issues when scanning bulk images, but other than that it was easy to use and smooth when searching. Now it’s useless to me. Not sure who's approving changes or thinks this was a great idea, but they need new testers and people to research what customers want and like to use. The functionality is slow and spotty. ✓ App is useless unless you want to pay $10The idea of this app is great. Was basically hoping to organize a list of a very large number of books my company has been keeping in storage, and scanning the ISBNs is an efficient and reliable way to do that. However, after about a dozen scans, the app forces you to pay for the "full" version, though you can continue to add the ISBNs manually. Adding any book to your "list" requires at minimum a title, author and photo of the front cover. So I was taking a lot of photos on top of having to manually add the ISBNs, and constantly adding data. However, once you've added a book, you cannot go back to edit any of the information unless you pay the $10 for the "full" version (and some of the information the app provides for a book is incorrect.) Overall was expecting a much more intelligent and efficient app for this purpose; and the $10 is just a bit too steep a price to pay..Version: 6.5.3
✓ 10 books at time.I’ve paid for the movie version of this same app, and I thought I’d get the same benefits by having this one as well (I thought it was another ‘tab’ on the movie app.) turns out it’s a totally new app, which I didn’t really want. Also and worst of all it only let me scan in 10 books before asking me to pay!? 10 books! Is it 10 books an hour a day? I have no idea. But it’s ridiculous..Version: 6.5.3
✓ Wish it were betterI just started using this app and was trying out the bulk scan feature. I managed to get some books scanned, but some of the data was incomplete or oddly entered so I started fixing the data for those books. Unfortunately this somehow managed to get rid of almost all of the books I’d just scanned other than the two books I had managed to fully fix up to that point. How or why this happened I don’t know, but that’s an incredibly irritating feature..Version: 6.5
✓ I have to close and open the app after saving a buckI have entered 175 titles on this app, and I have found that I now have to close and reopen the app after every book that I enter otherwise it will just keep saving and spinning forever. ✓ Who's doing the work here.Had this App now for a number of years, and never really any problems. And yet you know there is a 'but' coming here, so here it is. But recently, and at an alarming rate I am finding that I'm having to fill in all the details. I would rate it 5 stars if the app would has a better UX: searching for your own library is not easy after 200 Books. ✓ You erased my books!!!!!!I just went into my app and add six books. Before I added the books a my other books were listed. After I add the six books...all I had was six books. ✓ Wrong GenresI bought this app so my 5th grade students could experiment with books while doing a book study. They sorted them by the correct genre and were to use the app to check their piles. We soon came to find that many of the books were sorted in the app by the genre children’s. This did not help my students as they were trying to be specific! ✓ Can’t export.I chose this app because of the export function. I tried exporting to several different emails as all the offered formats. Never arrived. Checked the spam folder, did a search... just didn’t work. Tried the FAQ and tried to contact the developer. Can’t do it. This app’s functionality is otherwise very cool and intuitive, but $9.99 is a ridiculous amount. I paid the exorbitant price because I needed the app... for the one thing that doesn’t work. ✓ Scam!I purchased this app years ago to be able to add all my books. Then they get hacked, all my info in removed, and now I cant add more than 30 books because my account was wiped out and NOW they are asking for $30 to add my books! Its a complete scam! ✓ Deleted my stuff and has locked me out of my accountI payed to use this app, for the scanner function. I have well over 400 books. Definitely not entering all of this by hand. This app has worked great up until about a week ago. It deleted all of my saved books so I went to log out and log back in believing maybe it was a hiccup. Now it’s locked me out of my account. ✓ Good but could be betterYou can only scan a certain number of books before being asked to upgrade. For $9.99 If someone else only partially entered a book it wants you to make changes like add the author before you can save it. The only way to make changes is to pay the upgrade fee. $9.99. I’ve only got 74 books in so far but when I got to about the 70 mark it gave me issues with each entry. Wanting me to change or update, both of which require the upgrade fee. In theory and initial practice it seemed great. An hour into entry and I’m not as impressed..Version: 6.5.3
✓ Unfortunate ExecutionPlease don’t waste $10 on this. I’m very disappointed in my upgraded purchase. The app had trouble finding valid ISBNs, added wrong items to my collection on a constant basis when using the Bulk Camera Scan function, and required a large amount of manual data entry. ✓ I like it, but some annoying thingsI really love the idea of this app. I love that I can list all the books I have on here and organize them by when I last read them. A couple of annoying things though: 1.) You have to manually put in the ISBN of each book which can be tedious. When I tried the camera option, it just told me that the ISBN might belong to another book and to manually put it in anyway. Also, if you are able to capture the ISBN image, there is a small limit to how many books you can add that way. Then they want you to pay $9.99 for unlimited. That is an absurd amount of money as you can continue to manually input them. 2.) Some of the author’s names or book titles are put in strangely so they are out of order when you try to organize them by name or author. For example, Harry Potter #7 author name is K.J, Rowling, so it’s not included with my J.K Rowling section which is super annoying. Also, you can’t edit it without paying that ungodly amount of $9.99. Otherwise, I’m enjoying the app. I use this one as well as the movie app..Version: 6.5.3
✓ Used sort it app for years, looking for another option nowI’ve used the sort it app for years & have now been forced to this app. I hate that it sorts authors by their first name. That’s pretty worthless if I’m in a bookstore which always sort by last names. My reason for having an app like this is to avoid buying duplicates. I just wanted a relatively easy way to catalogue my books. I have 100's and buy duplicates because I'm not sure what I have. This is a little slow and I've had to manually make corrections or entries on some older books. You can manually correct the author names but on a book by book basis, which is a pain. I have over 900 books in my library. Has more details than I need but that's not a bad thing. My son & I will be looking for a better option..Version: 7.0.3
✓ ObsoleteIn my opinion, this app shouldn’t even be available for download anymore, as a totally new version has been created and the developer has said this app will no longer be updated much (as of the date I’m writing this, it hasn’t been updated in over a year.) ✓ Good, but could use improvementGood barcode scanner, attractive interface. Really needs more customization options, though - a book's page has a huge number of data fields, most of which the average user wouldn't care about. It's good that they're available, but the user should be able to select which ones they see and in which order. Also, having the Personal information at the very bottom instead of just under the basic Title - Author - Publisher is an odd choice. Most people are more concerned with the collections their book is in and the star rating they've given it than the name of the editor. (And even within Personal Information, why is the price info at the top?) Finally, the collections feature needs to be revamped. They stay in the order they're created in (instead of alphabetizing), cannot be renamed, and are inconvenient to access for viewing - you can to navigate several levels of the filtering tree to view one, and then go back and do it all over again to switch to another. There should be a straightforward "collections" tab that allows to quickly view, edit, and add new empty ones. Also it would be nice to set the sort method for each collection independently - for some listed I might sort by Author, others Title, Rating, or Pagecount..Version: 2.8.1

✓ Changed For The WorstI have over 800 books entered in my old iBook Collector App. Since it has switched over, this are worst. I cannot choose to list my collection by author format last, first name. It is now set as first name, last name. Who lists their books like that? The library, book store or anywhere where you search by author list by last name. Also, I hate the new front cover layout. I loved the old “library shelves” look. Also, it is quite annoying that you get a notification every week reminding you to “add any books purchased before you forget”! I don’t know if the App ownership changed hands, but like many other reviewer, I will be on the lookout for another app with the features I liked from the old version of the app. Very disappointed with the changes..Version: 7.5.5

✓ Great...when it works.I’ve been using this app for years, initially because it was good for its time, now because I’m stuck as I had over 1200 books that I manually input that I don’t want to have to transfer over again manually. ✓ Book storeThought this was going to be good as I have loads of books and wanted to create a database of them. Started well, bit confusing as it recognises authors sometimes by first name first and sometimes other way round. You do have to keep buying add ins, which again I didn't mind if it was going to create this pretty database with pictures of yr books sitting on shelves. Then came a problem, which it is still doing - I have a lot of thrillers say by Lee Child and Robert Ludlum and I did the bar code and up came the right book. Then I looked at the list of the ones i had put in and it showed the same title 8 times! Kept redoing the same ones to see if it would sort itself out, but hasn't! ✓ UselessTried scanning in books by the barcode option, and gave up after every one of the fifteen different scanned books weren't recognised. Maybe one or two I could accept, but every one? ✓ Inventory keeps deletingI have the Sort It: Movies app and have never had a problem, so when i saw they have one for books I immediately downloaded it. Didnt mind paying the $10. But for some reason the app keeps deleting my inventory. Its done it to me a total of 3 times. At first i thought it had just logged me out of my account, but it had not. I have had to go through my books and rescan them 3 times, which is annoying since i have over 150+ books. Just opened the app today and what do i see? My inventory once again gone. ✓ Collection vanished!I thought this app looked promising as I spent hours scanning bar codes, however the following morning all but 9 books disappeared from my collection! I went to FAQ and they suggested logging out...I did, only to find that I couldn't log back in and they have no record of any account! I had paid for the full version so this didn't please me. I went to report it to them but encountered the next problem- the form would not submit without a message and an email (which I was looking at!). ✓ Poor Security StandardsTo use this app you must create an online account so you can share your collection between devices - fair enough. ✓ This app is ridiculousI was hoping to save all my books in this app and I was pretty happy with it for about 2 minutes but after I had only 8 books scanned, it said I had to pay for the scanning pro which is a RIDICULOUS amount of $10. Then I decided to try typing the isbn of each book manually but my satisfaction was short lived when I came upon a book that had a pseudonym and it asked me to edit the authors name or I couldn’t go on. Then I was like “ok whatever.” But when I try to edit it, the app says I need to spend 10 dollars to get the “pro app” so I could do everything freely. I’m my opinion they strive for people’s money and not to give the users a good experience..Version: 6.7.2

I have taken so much time to take photos of the front and back covers of all of my books, and for some reason, almost all of the back covers are now missing. Plus, when you add a back cover to a new entry, it doesn’t save it. So now all you can use is the front cover. So basically, this app is no better than any other book collector app since they only allow a front cover photo. I wrote to the developer but received no reply at all as to whether this was a known issue or if they were working on it. Now, I just found that almost all of my front covers are now missing. I have over 400 books in my collection that I photographed the front and back covers of each book, and now, almost every front & back cover is gone. This is ridiculous and poor business. I wish developers would take more pride in their work and care more for their customers. It just always seems to come down to making the money, and the hell with the rest of it..Version: 6.5.3

✓ Scanning sounded good, but...The scanning function is not good enough yet. 1. After a scan, the app seems to sit in limbo for a while, and won't respond. 2. It doesn't like partially obscured barcodes, even if there's enough showing for a normal scanner to use. (and every bookseller loves to stick their own stickers over the code). 3. Barcode database is hopeless. Of the first 10 books I tried, it identified only 2 correctly, and got another wrong. And I couldn't find a way to delete the wrongly identified book. With a few thousand books to enter, it's not worth me using this unless the scanner works a lot better. ✓ Most Functional but disconcertingI like it, however when I want to know more about other apps or software they have it's strange. When I click on unlock desktop it just asks for credit card or PayPal. It doesn't say how much, I don't know if I click on it if it will automatically charge me. It's very easy to spend money with the similar apps for example pro version of comics. The comic app reads barcodes specifically catered to comics. And I wanted the pro version. I want to know what their desktop software is like before I commit e.g. looks like, how it functions, if it looks good on windows and if it links to the apps on my phone? Also I'm not sure if it's down right now but I tried searching their main website to see if u can find out that way. There's an icollect everything website that doesn't mention anything else. Are they related? I'm so confused. Following links from their app listing or Twitter goes nowhere. Their name keeps changing. I'm concerned if this should be a long term investment. ✓ Poor (Awful) Customer ServiceDo not download this App. It is free up to a point, and then once you download a certain number of books - well under 10, they give a pop up saying you need to pay $10 for more advanced usage. I accidentally hit that agreement and instantly bought the $$ app. I immediately contacted Apple and attempted to get a refund and was informed that this company did not offer refunds so I would need to contact them. So I did that. I got an automated reply (on that Friday) that I would be contacted by someone M-Th. No reply. I waited until Wednesday of the next week, sent another message, no reply. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Complete and total rip off! Do not grace this company with your money. Shame on them..Version: 6.5.3

✓ Update ruined this appI have been using these apps for my books, movies, and games. They have been wonderful. Then the update. Now I can't get all of my books to load there, the supposedly transfer them but not all of mine did. I have to ask to load them all. The sorting is a nightmare. I have it set to sort by author's name. Well, you can't have it last name first. Which is not good. There are book with correct information but won't sort it or let you try to sort it. Tried to use the alphabet on the side to go to the letter I need, doesn't work. Shuts it done. They have not upgraded the movie one and I will not update it seeing horrible this new update is with my books..Version: 7.0.3

The export as text (what I bought it for) is absolutely useless - it places massive amounts of gibberish into the text rendering the resultant useless. ✓ DisappointedI bought this app and it's OS X counterpart as it provided both iOS and a OS X functionality unlike Delicious Library which is OS X only. The app on the face of it looks to be a good one - I certainly have no issues with the interface or look of the app. The one MAJOR drawback is that while it says it's linked to eBay, it doesn't appear to search any other library / book databases (such as the British library or Amazon as Delicious does). This means that I have yet to scan a barcode which has been found and therefore to add the book to my library means I have to input the book details and take a photo of the cover manually. I am a pastor and have well over a thousand books which I was wanting to catalogue - it would take months to enter the details manually for every book. I am not a librarian!! ✓ Keeps crashingThe app has crashed on me twice now where my library has disappeared. The first time I was able to recover my book titles by logging in on the website but now it’s happened again and it’s saying my email address isn’t associated with an account. ✓ Updates aren’t always goodNot sure which App the review is now for. But whatever update iCollect Books has just created made the transfer of my collection extremely time consuming to resolve. Multiple book cover images have disappeared and many replaced with low resolution copies. The previous book shelf layout seems to have disappeared which was an excellent way of viewing categories. All in all it appears another clever clogs decided his view of presentation was better than the status quo. With nearly 700 books on there checking and rectifying defeats the purpose of putting the information on there in the first place. Certainly a step backwards..Version: 7.0.3
✓ Crashes and non-compatibleLong-time user of iCollect books pro, which I paid for and used diligently. Now, I have been forced to switch to this app because of their ineptitude, and have to re-catalogue all of my many hundreds of books, despite paying for their online storage. ✓ It was great until it crashedI paid for the upgrade and it was great! I was looking at everything you could do in it and changed the theme color and it crashed. Now I can’t get it to open back up and I’ve scanned almost 400 books into it. I’m so mad I could cry. If I’m not able to get it to open again, I want a refund! ✓ Not reliableI’ve really tried to like this app, but it seems fairly clueless in finding e-books which I use due to frequent travel. I usually have to put most of the info in myself which is pretty time-consuming. I am out of the country frequently and do not always have access to internet. My database only shows without a connection about 10% of the time - making it an useless resource then. When it works, it is pretty good, but it is so fluky I cannot rely on it. ✓ I used to love this appI used to love this app and then sort it switched to this. It sorts by author’s first name and not last. It also counts books by multiple authors twice when I sort by author. ✓ Do not buyI upgraded to a paid account within the last 30 days, added 20+ piano books that I was lending out to my students and recorded who they were loaned to. Today I have 7 books in my account, as if I never paid for the full version. What a ripoff! And - I no longer know where all my books are which is several hundred dollars of inventory. Horribly disappointed in this app and developer. They had a malware attack and didn’t safely protect their data backups so all data has been lost.
