✓ It's good, but I'm going to have to dock starsThe game is fun and there's a lot of playability. While there is IAP, you can unlock extra levels and game modes by earning gems in game. So why the 1 star? Because the game's had a bug where it often requires a restart after 3 tries to beat a map. Everything freezes and you have to log out to the iOS home screen, kill the game process, and start over. So when I got an alert there was an update to fix bugs, I figured "yay, they finally fixed it!" Nope, no luck, but now I get an advertisement whenever I log into the game I paid for. ✓ Trying too hardThis game has a lot of potential but dropped the ball. This game has all the elements of a great tower defense but it becomes very obvious early on that this is supposed to be a money maker. Slow gem generation and high upgrade costs that increase with time means the game cannot be beat without spending a LOT of money. Tower defense is my favorite kind of iPhone game and I could not beat the second world without spending cash even on the easiest setting. Reduce the difficulty so people don't get so frustrated early on and this game might be a hit instead of a regret..Version: 2.1

✓ Everyone has to make a living......but basing the playability on in-app purchases is getting old. This is another in a long line of "free" apps with limited playability without spending, potentially, lots of money. This is a good implementation of the tower defense game type and, if you are wiling to play the free levels over and over again to earn "gems", you can continue to play for free. I'm not far enough along to be able to tell if the difficulty level rises with the amount spent, like so many other in-app purchase based games do, but time will tell. Actually, time won't matter because I almost never make in-app purchases as a mater of principle. If you do, you will enjoy a better than average TD game..Version: 2.5
✓ Shameless money grabbingThis game could have been 5 star but there is very much "pay to win" in this game. Firstly all but the first world is locked out which you have you buy with in-game money (gems). You can collect this very slowly by playing or buy spending real cash. The harder difficulty levels are made so much that you need to spend gems to upgrade your towers in order to win. I wouldn't mind if this game had a flat fee but its designed in such a way that tries to get you to pay up much much more then its worth. Other games such as COM2US 'Tower Defence' are much more value and not as shameless as this. Uninstalling....Version: 2.2
✓ Avoid this gameOne of the worst TD's I have ever played. Totally random game. Meaning that on level 1 or 2 you might get a wave of ten high HP enemies in a row that there is no way in heck you are ready for. Then you can replay it and never see those guys. What's worse there are trophy prizes, that are totally random. So you might play through it 6 times and the trophy beast won't show, or 10 will come out in a row and be so over powering you will have to restart in frustration. This game has no strategy to this game at all, just random luck. You find this out before you finish the first zone. And after that you are just left trying to squeeze your money's worth out of the game hoping it gets better. It doesn't. I beat it and I just hate it more. The towers shoot inconsistently, there aren't clear explanations as to what they do and they are a huge pain to place just right. Good luck trying to stack towers close together. Please just avoid this game altogether. Not even worth a buck. Not a TD or a good game. Just a frustrating waste of good graphics, sound and money..Version: 1.0.1
✓ EntertainingUpdate: Still crashzilla abandon ware. If you touch the screen at all prior to the level starting it crashes. If you launch the app it randomly crashes. It should be a simple fix but the developer clearly can't be bothered. Save your money and support a developer who actually develops. In fairness when it works it's a good example of the genre and quite entertaining but the crashing is a deal breaker, how on a closed platform like this the developer can possibly not fix such blatant issues is beyond me..Version: 2.5
✓ Dull and poorly balancedTower defence games can be relatively simple but revealing a strategic depth after extended play. A good example of this is Kingdom Rush which I found to be a superb tower defence game. Sadly Towers n' Trolls is no Kingdom Rush. The game is charmless, dull and above all poorly balanced. At no point do you ever get the sense that there is a good strategic balance you can achieve with the correct combination of towers. The fact that the game randomises the waves adds to this frustration. With its usual combination of fast firing and weak towers, slowing towers and the heavy weapon, slow firing towers nothing really breaks the mould in terms of core gameplay mechanics but the fact that you could easily be confronted with a heavy enemy after less than a few rounds before you get up to speed causes the game to feel haphazard and irritating. If you're after a good tower defence game get Kingdom Rush HD, which has far more charm and is more fun to play than this..Version: 1.0.1

✓ The more in app purchases you make the more you win!For what is afantastic strategy game it becomes clear. It is designed as a crack-pipe freemium game. It is impossible to continue once you have got into it without buying unlimited gems. No strategy onthe harder levels allows you to win apart from buying more gems. I would happily pay £4 for this game upfront all inclusive. But it is designed to basically bleed your bank account. Lets just hope EA doesnt do this and kill the francise with Plants vs Zombies 2!.Version: 2.4
✓ Money gougerHaving paid £8 to unlock the full game, I expected to be able to play it all the way through, albeit with some challenge. Sadly, the game Is designed so that later levels are impossible to complete without additional weapons, which, of course, you need to buy with real money. However, as is now usual with games on the app store, it only allows you to get so far (two worlds in this case), before the game locks down and demands “500 Gems” to unlock the next world. ✓ Horrible AdvertisementsThis was once a great game - a real treasure in the Tower Defense genre. Lots of levels, different forms of challenges, etc... Now, EVERY TIME the app is launched, the screen is taken up with an advertisement that you have to click through. WORSE, they now are putting VIDEO Advertisements up, which you have to suffer through before the game starts. Methinks this is a violation of Apple's policy...not sure. ✓ Mediocre with little varietyMaybe I'm just not the target audience for this game, but it seems lacking in substance as far as tower defense goes. I never reached the point where you get more than four tower types before I got bored with the game and what towers they do give you barely have any upgrade capacity. Maybe if they hadn't withheld what should be core game features until later on, I wouldn't have quit so early. The whole game, while pretty, is just kind of bland. Also, what's with the little buggers who do nothing but peg your towers? I can't see any real point to them, except to be intentionally irritating. They don't even make the game appreciably harder. I would recommend forking over the money for Bloons before wasting phone space on this game, but I'm almost entirely opposed to the notion of spending money on game apps also, so just do whatever you like, I suppose. ✓ Yes good, but...A lovely, beautifully executed take on the Tower genre, which is pretty much what everyone is saying here- but, but... As you get to later levels (having paid to unlock them, fair enough) the difficulty level ramps up so in quite a few cases it becomes impossible to complete without - you guessed it - making more in game purchases. And since this is so addictive this can quickly end up with you spending the odd £69 p there the occasional £1.49.... So a bit cheeky of the developers; of course they want to make money but it seems they've just pushed the difficulty up enough to make those extra spends mandatory. Tut tut. ✓ Love itIt's an amazing tower defense game, keeps it hard enough so it might not take 1 attempt to beat a level, but not too easy where it isn't fun. Very fun! _________ Revise 8/9/12 (last review was 5 stars) so i've been a big fan of this game for a long time, but i have to say i'm rather disappointed with this last update. I can say for a fact i'm not bad at this game, and when i re-did nearly the whole game on brutal, it wasn't easy, but it wasn't impossible either. This new "inferno" update is so rigged it makes me sick. 3-5 is my favorite level, and i have a system that works flawlessly on all prior difficulties - with this new update i can't even get to wave 6/15 without having to buy stuff with gems before I start - which requires either a lot of grinding or real life money. So i tried 1-1 just to see if i was having bad luck. Nope, couldn't get past wave 7/10. They rigged this game to now cost real life money to beat the levels. Very disappointed with "this" update, if they change it or something i might be more inclined to re-re-rate this with higher stars, but until that happens, not a chance..Version: 1.8

✓ Don't buy this game, it's a blatant rip off!Another "in app purchase" game with the usual built in rip offs. The game itself is great, good graphics, good concept. However, impossible to finish in a reasonable amount of time without purchasing the in app purchases. This is still the case when you purchase the game, and it's important to note the in app purchases, in this case gems, are very expensive and you need a lot of them in each of several of the levels. On the higher levels in challenge mode you need at about 3400gems. These are very difficult to get during regular gameplay, so for anyone with an addictive personality, you would likely end up having to purchase the gems prior to beig able to finish certain levels. Gems are VERY expensive and you only get to use them once. They do say that you can use them repeatedly, howver, call it a game glitch(intentional or not), they take them away after each time a level is tried. This means, if you have purchased them, and you don't pass the level in your first try (which is difficult even with all of the upgrades and on one of the easier level settings), you would have to purchase them again before retrying. HUGE rip off! To make it worse, this game has set it up so that you need to use the gems to purchase general upgrades (that you keep for the while game), but also additional upgrades for each level played (these are the ones that you don't get to keep for the whole game, even if you have purchased them with real money. You need both sets of upgrades to complete levels, even on the easier level difficulties(each level has 4 difficulty settings). Yes, the game starts out nice amd easy and purchase of gems is not necessary for quite awhile. It is not until after you have purchased the game and get into the much higher levels that you realize in app purchases are necessary, and several of them. If it was not for the blatant rip off, this would be a great game. I would highly recommend avoiding it completely if you are the type of person that needs to complete a game before you are satisfied. You will end up spending a lot of money on it which is exactly what developers of games with in app purchases are trying to get you to do. Someone needs to start regulating these types of games that have the in app purchases as they really are very easy for developers to create games where you become hooked and then eventually need to spend lots of dollars to complete. It is a new type of concept that comes along with the convenience of App style games. Avoid them until regulations come along to control these developers a bit more. Avoid this game and developer completely as they really are blatantly ripping off their customers!!.Version: 2.5
✓ Not too bad.Game requires a LOT of gems to properly move forward. I guess if you don't mind either spending more money than a normal app would cost and/or spending a lot of time repeating the same levels over and over again to collect gems freely, it's a good TD. I'd of rather the game cost a set fee and the upgrades be easier to acquire. Coming across levels that are not possible without spending all of your hard earned gems (needed to unlock more levels) on upgrading towers (and then not having the gems to unlock more levels) is not fun. However, the game does seem to have no adds in it and it receives credit for that alone!.Version: 1.5
✓ Nice but f*ck!Don't play this game please! Towers attack monsters that are farthest from the finish, which makes winning nearly impossible unless you manually target each individual monster. Can't you developers fix this glitch?? Was throughly entertained by this game until it got to the point where even with all my towers fully upgraded I cannot beat any of the missions even on casual. ✓ Trolls and TowersThis is a great game - lovely detail, fun and completely addictive. However, I've taken off a couple of stars for the pricing model. Would prefer to pay to upgrade to a full version than pay to advance. Just getting into the game and lo and behold, more money required - or keep playing the same few games over and over to get enough gems for the next level. ✓ No defenseThis offering is potentially brilliant however at a very early point in the adventure you realize that your wallet may be a fair bit lighter after fully opening this game up. Even the option of spending hours to accumulate gems to open modules as there is in other versions is missing here. Shame really as the game itself is top class. ✓ Just "Ok", but getting better...This is an average Tower Defense game with above average art and graphics. However, as someone who bought it right when it was released and was somewhat disappointed by the product, I now have to commend the developer for supporting the game with ongoing updates that include both gameplay tweaks and new content. What was originally a Two Star product is now probably closer to 3.5, and I'm hopeful they'll finally make it a solid game in the future..Version: 1.4

✓ Not the most originalI DLed this game with high hopes. But apart from the nice graphics it is just a very standard tower rush game. Monsters rush towards the exit and you build towers to defend. The loot is mostly coins and bombs. There are no artifact type loots that can give you buffs or something that you can keep from game to game. The random waves are a nice touch I must say..Version: 1.1
