FlyQ InSight for Negative User Reviews

Slick but not current for CanadaPretty slick app that I can imagine using but it will remain in imagination for the most part. I downloaded current database and checked my local field, CYKF. Tower frequency is wrong. VOR was retired a year or two ago. Nearby Stratford airport was renamed from CNM4 to CYSA a couple of years ago. Also I don’t know what subscription might be required but I’m already paying for charts on my iPad and my panel so I’m not interested in a third subscription..Version: 4.0.2

Shouldnt be on UK app storeNo uk data supported in this app. Not sure why its available in the uk app store. Pointless..Version: 4.0.2

Reverse RouteThis is a nice little application. I use it on my iPhone mostly for planning leading up to a flight. Practically speaking, the phone format is too small for inflight use. I will switch to the iPad version...eventually. For now my trusty paper sectional is still my favorite tool for VFR flying. Two things need to be fixed: 1) Develop a capability to reverse a route. Currently, you have to rebuild the return leg as a separate flight plan. 2) It keeps defaulting to the fuel value in my settings. Not every flight begins with the same fuel value. We need to be able to customize this for each leg. Otherwise, the fuel calculation is useless, and potentially dangerous if one were to depend upon it. I expect that in a another version or two this will be a 5 star app..Version: 1.1

Great App But Needs WorkI wrote a review previously and am back to update my thoughts on this app. It’s a great app on its face. Very easy to use because all of its menus and options are intuitively accessed. However, I dropped using this app for a competitor a few months ago because I lost confidence in it. The TFR feature did not work consistently. I almost got snookered a couple of times because of TFRs that were in place over the Phoenix metropolitan area that didn’t show up on the app. (And unlike other apps, it wouldn’t show planned TFRs ahead of them becoming active.) Ultimately, it led me to wonder what else doesn’t consistently work with this app?.Version: 2.2

I agree with FleagleIt’s stupid that it doesn’t make it clear at the outset that it only works in the USA. It’s a waste of time..Version: 4.0.2

Dissapionted so farAfter going through the rigga-ma-roll of registering and creating accounts and creating aircraft profiles with the belief that the app will then finally work...it didn't. Or maybe it's doing what it's supposed to do and I'm not impressed?? I can get some weather but no weather images and no airport diagrams. I can enter my local identifier (not a small airport to say the least) and it's not recognized! "Turn on location" it say's, we guess what it's on! I'll keep trying but so far no bueno!.Version: 1.0.1

IPad buggyI bought my ipad to use when I fly. in addition to the other comments about having an ipad version which takes full advantage of the larger screen real estate, there is a bug in this version when run on the ipad. When viewing an airport, touching the weather icon causes it to crash. This is a nice try but not quite ready for "prime time"..Version: 1.0.2

Doesn’t work sense last update to operating systemWill it be updated?.Version: 4.0.2

Fun but not accurateAirport frequencies and runway numbers are wrong. E.g. CYSC Runway is not 14/32 but 13/31. Com is not FSS 122.4 but Unicom 123.5. Therefore, not reliable at all for navigation..Version: 4.0.1

AOPA Drops Support for AOPA AirportsUnless you have one of the latest iPhones, don't bother with this. FlyQ v1.0.2 requires iPhone OS 4.3 or better. My trusty 22-month old iPhone has OS 4.2.1. Since 4.2.1 is the highest version available for my iPhone, AOPA FlyQ is incompatible and will not install. For now I will keep AOPA Airports installed but I am very disappointed that AOPA has chosen to stop supporting it. Here is a direct quote from an email that I received from AOPA Member Services: "AOPA Airports will not be supported going forward and will no longer contain the latest airport information.".Version: 1.0.2

Update requiredAfter app has been downloaded app will not reopen once it has been closed. To use this app don’t close it after downloading..Version: 4.0.2

Less is not moreSure you can get all kinds of info if you have a reasonably fast cell connection, but i really miss the capability to look up airports like the AOPA airports app let me do. it was much easier then to look up a state and scroll around, expecially when i had no cell coverage, which is frequent. this app simply cannot do that. i dont care about airports around me, i want an easy way to look up airports in other states. bring back the functionality of aopa airports..Version: 1.0.2

Aircraft profiles have errorsWhen I try to enter common LSA types, they're either missing or wrong. For example, if I pull up CZAW as the manufacturer, it offers only Zenith aircraft - and does NOT offer the SportCruiser. There doesn't seem to be any way to manually enter types. Isn't this app just Voyager FreeFlight, re-badged? For flight planning, the existing AOPA Flight Planner seems miles ahead..Version: 1.0

Not set-up for Canadian pilotsMissing major GA airport in Canada. Cannot create any flight plan unless registered to DUAT, which requires a FAA license #..Version: 1.0.2

Stopped loadingWhat gives?.Version: 4.0.2

Stopped respondingI use this app more than I use my FlyQ EFB. Everytime I get in my plane I pull up the baro pressure. Lately when I touch the icon it flashes on for a millisecond and then disappears. I downloaded it and it will work for a few times and then the same behavior happens rendering it unusable. I’m using IOS 16.1.1.Version: 4.0.2

AOPA swings and missesAs a corporate pilot I traverse the country on a daily basis and loved having all of the airport information on my phone and readily availalble (in flight, in remote locations without cell coverage). When AOPA announced FlyQ I had high hopes of liking the improvement. I don't. There are better aviatiion weather apps availalble, and not having the Airport Directory downloaded on the phone, for use in flight is a real bummer. The old app also sorted airport data by state and city. This was a great feature. I hope AOPA integrates the AFD data into this app. Otherwise it will be deleted quickly in preference for other products that are better..Version: 1.0.2

JunkDoes not work at all. Don’t waste your time..Version: 4.0.2
