FlyQ InSight for Positive User Reviews

Incredible Compilation of pilot needs.Best all around , mixes the best from all others. Easy to read displays , intuitive banding route changes , SV, this is the standard now. I started w WingX , Foreflight, Garmin, very good and King-very very good, but they gave up. If Fly Q is not intuitive for you there are short tutorials that can hold your interest. Add Google Earth presentation of actual route and radio / GS frequencies / displays ( glass cockpit) /functionalities and we be home. Truly excellent . Get three mini iPads and iPhone 6 plus back up you , on a fold away device ...you have a glass cockpit for about $1500. What a deal..Version: 2.0

Hard to read since lastest updateI really find this app to be a useful tool. However, the latest update to the software now gives you a dark background and it is hard to read the text. It'd be nice if you change this back to a white background so it is more legible..Version: 2.0

Great platform, will become all in one.Excellent work by this development group. Stable platform with no crashes to date. Really like winds aloft data and plan optimization. Suggestions include ability to delete flight plans, iPad optimization, and return of airport specific sunrise/sunset info found in AOPA Airports. Is it possible to merge forward looking ceiling data into an hour-by-hour graphical projection?.Version: 1.0.1

Nearest airports not displayingAfter downloading the app, I noticed I could not get my local airports to open up. My nearest airports kept coming up with NY airports. That's great but I live in Philly. So I contacted Steve and he made suggestions that I followed, but to no avail. After several attempts by Steve to get me on track he was going to call me to help me out. Then I realized a couple of days prior to dn loading The FlyQ app, I had down loaded a security app. Come to find out my location security was blocking the FlyQ app. Now that all is said and done the app works perfectly, and I can't say enough about Steve and the lengths to which he would have gone to resolve my problem. So I would have to rate the service as a 5 star. Doesn't get any better! Michael.Version: 1.0.2

Easy information in the palm of your handA must have app for flight planning. I am particularly impressed with the design of the app. There is a lot of information available, but it is presented in an organized and well formatted fashion. Easy to learn, easy to use. Highly recommended..Version: 1.1.1

Up and Coming, but not there yetJonathan Swift encourage critics not to simply find fault. Heeding that counsel, there's a lot to like in FlyQ, beginning with the fact that it is free for the cost of your AOPA membership. It uses location services smartly, the design is clean, and it's fast, even over 3G. That said, there is room for improvement. Two obvous enhancements: (1) fuel price data. AirNav has it, as to lots of pay-to-play apps. AOPA has the biggest data-gathering field force of 100LL cheapskates on the planet. If this isn't already in the works, it should be, and (2), as others have noted, AOPA airports keeps the data on your phone so you can retreive it from the air if you don't have a cell connection. That should at least be an option. All in all, much more to be happy about than find fault with. A solid first effort, but don't stop yet..Version: 1.0.2

Swiss Army of Aviation AppsThis app is the Swiss Army of Aviation apps. From weather to airport information everything you need for a preflight is all here. The best part of all is the FBO info for an airport along with the member comments. Really helps me choose the best one if there are multiple FBOs and Airports in a region..Version: 1.0

A bird in the hand ...I'm just starting on the path to get a pilots license so I'm glad to be able to get useful info and experience with flying culture. This app packs a lot and fits in my pocket so I can learn new and useful things wherever I am and have a few minutes of free time. It also has great weather info!.Version: 1.0

Get this app!I found this app to be extremely useful when flying to a new airport I haven't previously been to. Not to mention, finding airports at night amid clusters of civilization is a breeze with InSight. As long as you recalibrate periodically, InSight truly will provide augmented reality to find your destination. Hint: install on your phone, NOT your iPad. The phone is far easier to manipulate in the cockpit..Version: 4.0.2

Great app! This is an outstanding app! Smartly written to give you what you need when and where you need it. Easy to use. No demerits at all. I fly mostly for business and mostly IFR fairly frequent long legs up and down the east coast using other iPhone and iPad app. FlyQ handles all the key tasks elegantly. Top marks..Version: 1.0.1

Awesome App!!I saw this app demo'd at Sun n Fun, and have been waiting for it to arrive. I cannot believe how much info is packed in so concise a format, and the cloud basing certainly accelerates getting data. Everything I need right there, and I really appreciate the planning and filing link to DUAT. Now, I just need my Cessna 182, N182MM out of annual so I can go fly and use it in the air! Thanks guys. Great work..Version: 1.0

Awesome app! This is the Swiss Army knife of general aviation. It brings together the airport directory information and current weather is a very useful airport interface and integrates well with the desktop flight planning tool. I wish it had a stronger and faster search engine, and it does seem to drain my iPhone 4 battery when used in flight but it's still a very handy resource with a great price tag!.Version: 1.0.4

Great for weather monitoringThis is a great little app for the Iphone. I live in the Northeast and monitoring weather is a challenge because the wind howls when it is not snowing or raining sideways. This app also keeps track of where I am so I get greatl local METARS and TAFs to help me plan flights. I probably will still use foreflight to plan and track flights but this will be my "go to" app for pre-flight weather planning and as a back-up in the cockpit for diversions to alternate airports..Version: 1.0.1

Very UsefulI used this on a recent two day cross country trip on my ipad and iphone and found it to be most helpful. Contrary to what another review said, airport data is stored on your device and can be used offline. Weather data must be retrieved or updated while you have a data connection but you can still review the last weather info you obtained while offline. There is a lot of airport information including a handy satellite view of the airport in addition to a graphic drawing..Version: 1.0.2

Nice but.......Nice planning tool but as others mentioned, there should be an iPad version. What would be really nice would be to use the screen capture feature of the iPad to load the flight log into the photo file. When I tried it with the iPad, it naturally does not capture the entire flight log since the app does not have a landscape mode for the iPad. If it did, I could call up the flight log for waypoint checking and do away with a paper copy..Version: 1.0.2

AOPA appThis is truly an incredible app. You can tell its been designed by pilots for pilots. I'm an app geek, love this stuff. This one was very well thought out. The field photos and alignments match right up and are extremely helpful. The wx is easy to read and understand with just a glance. AOPA continues to offer pilots what we need to fly safe. Being a free app is also amazing. Works better than advertised! Much better than most paid sites. Highly recommend everyone add this to their apps and use it first. It's that easy. Try it and see..Version: 1.0.1

Excellent utility for flight planning. This app has everything you need to quickly and accurately plan for a flight. I especially like the weather section which is well organized and comprehensive. Flight planner is quick and useful although I would love to see an altitude profile for a planned flight if possible..Version: 1.0.1

Tech supportWhen I first installed the application I was quite frustrated by the lack of support for Canadian pilots but after chatting with a friendly gentlemen at technical support and following his instructions I was able to use the App for planning my trips between my local airports! Great App, it is now my favorite flight planning App. Thanks FlyQ!!!!.Version: 1.0.1

Swiss Army KnifeHandy little app to have on your iPhone. Easy to use & provides a wealth of useful information very efficiently. Would be even better if it had current fuel prices (dated) like other full-featured EFBs. The planning feature is a good way to get a quick route -- but be prepared to tweak it by hand to handle departure and arrival conventions at larger airports. Not so easy to transfer the final route to ForeFlight or Garmin Pilot (copy & paste). The printing feature that spits out a nav log and FAA flight plan is very nice..Version: 1.0.1

FlyQ 1.0.2 runs greatI really like this new app. It combines several useful tools and it's free if you're a member of the OAPA. The recent upgrade solved the issue with the waypoints. I didn't have to reload my pilot and aircraft credentials, and everything is running smooth. It won't replace a complete briefing, but it's a "most" to have with you when you get to the field and on the plane..Version: 1.0.2

FlyQ InsightI really enjoy this app. Basically it is the old FlyQ but with the upgrade of using your camera to see where the airports are. Click on the airport in the camera view and it brings up the airport info. The only thing I wish it offered was sectionals so I could have a reliable backup for my FlyQ EFB on my iPad..Version: 4.0

Almost there...The latest update fixed most of the problems - there was a long-closed airport still being listed as active nearby. Still, though- my local airport has a displaced threshold reducing landing distance to 1300'. That might be good to know. Foreflight lists it... UPDATE: Seattle Avionics actually contacted me regarding changes. That bodes well for the support of what could be a life saving app.Version: 1.0.2

One of the Best.I LOVE this application. I've been using several apps to get the same information this one provides in one. Recommendations to make it even better, at least for me. Incorporate fuel prices. Add an A/FD tab. Add a search for Airports tab. And lastly, add traffic pattern direction to the already TPA..Version: 1.0

FlyQAmazing I have used Foreflight and FlyQ. The instrument package with plate overlying the map or on split screen improve situational awareness. The Merlin ADS-B integration is so good I won't fly without now.Version: 4.0.2

NiceCool app. A lot of functionality. It needs to be optimized for the iPad, so it is not so blurry. Once they do that they will get the fifth star. It needs to also have the ability to delete flight plans. I delete the plan off of my computer, but it still shows up in the app,and when I select it, the app says it doesn't exist..Version: 1.0.1

Very easy to use, powerful, & free!I can't believe that this easy to use and powerful app is completely free to AOPA members! I've been using it multiple times every day just to see when weather's good enough to go flying. The flight planning completely rocks, was wondering when automatic routing was coming to the iPad? BE36 Pilot.Version: 1.0.2

Wow. Amazing. The augmented reality in this app is amazing. Every pilot should have this app. It makes finding airports super easy. Make sure that you watch the introductory video as it explains calibrating and all of the features..Version: 4.0.2

Great app!I am moving from another app and needed a way to get quick weather at 3 or 4 local airports. This app works great for that purpose. Also, the integration with AOPA data is a real plus. Finally, I have had a few questions - support has been superb. Emails to support are answered promptly. Great, especially for a free app!.Version: 1.0.2

Excellent and IntuitiveThis a great app!! Very intuitive and concise. Menus are easy and entering and entering flight plans is a breeze. One cool feature is if you click on any airports on the flight plan, it shows a ton of information including current wx image etx. I would definitely recommend!!!!.Version: 1.0.2

So Far, So GoodDownload went fine and support for my questions was great. Like the detail and expanded views. Flight planner could use the ability to enter more waypoints but then this isn't designed to be a flight planner... Will see how well it works in the air when I need details about an airport below or when I'm somewhere without cell/Internet coverage..Version: 1.0.2

Best free app for G.A. PilotsSuper easy and fast to learn. Great emergency back up. Literally just point and click and all the info is there. Big bonus is it keeps a pilots eyes looking outside in a heads up position..Version: 4.0.2

The simplestI use several apps and they all basically do the same thing. But, for quick info like weather and phone number for ASOS, nothing beats the simplicity of this app. That’s why I keep using it..Version: 4.0.2

Nice so far - needs moreI like the interface and features in the app, but it needs some improvements to be truly useful: 1) Write an iPad version to take advantage of screen space and landscape orientation. 2) Add ability to search for airports and navaids by name, city or identifier. 3) Put airport and navaid data in a downloaded local database so data connection isn't required to view. 4) Add mogas to fuel availability for Experimental and STC pilots. 5) Add ADDS Graphical Turbulence Guidance charts to the weather section. 6) Add ability to view NOS plates, *preferably* as a locally stored package for selected airports or per flight plan. Thanks; looking forward to updates!.Version: 1.0.2

Great appI've been using the FlyQ iPhone app as my first go-to for airport and weather information. A quick and easy check gives me preliminary flight planning information and enough to continue planning or just to no go today. My wife uses FlyQ EFB on her iPad along with a wireless ADS-B in device for flight planning and enroute navigation/traffic/weather. We are looking forward to using Chart Data in the newly upgraded panel with dual Aspen devices on our C182K. Thanks, Steve P and all the gang at Seattle Avionics for these great products..Version: 2.1

User friendlyI have used Flyq combined with the Dual 190 GPS for a year. In my Cessna 172 I added a yoke mount for my mini IPad. It gives all the features of a state of the art instrument panel at a small fraction of the cost. This is a very user friendly app that is a must have for the general aviation community..Version: 3.0

Digital cockpit must. period.I have tried a lot of flight tools. A lot of them come and go, this one I use every day. It does what it does so well, you'll be checking it on the days you don't fly. If you're a VFR pilot, this will be your new favorite app. Digital cockpit must. period. Kudos to AOPA, this is the best app on my iPhone. Really, brilliant..Version: 1.1.1

Great Little App for All the Details I WantOther AOPA apps haven't done so well but to date, I've not experienced any issues with FlyQ Pocket. Works as advertised. For quick weather conditions in my area or while traveling, it's been great. It's like an advanced A/FD in my pocket for everywhere I want to go. Makes planning easy, too. I like having all the runway information available and all the frequencies listed. Even if not flying it's great to pull up info on a local airport so I can tune in and listen in as I sit and watch the traffic.Version: 2.1
