SEEK Jobs - Job Search for Negative User Reviews

Lost accountI had an account with seek for many years but few days ago after communicating to seek few issues with a search function, and later receiving reply, my account suddenly disappeared. I am getting a message that my email doesn’t exist. I have now contacted seek many times believing that my account got hacked or just deleted, with no reply. I simply can’t access my information and history and more so I have no idea what happened to my personal info and my resume. Extremely disappointed and frustrated!.Version: 2.24.0

Not enough choiceRemoving the ability to search by multiple regions within a State was disingenuous and renders the app as little use to me. Luckily it remembered the saved searches I already had set up in that way, but unfortunately I’m unable to create new ones. The Developers feedback to me was that the feature wasn’t used by the majority of workers. This makes sense, since most Australians only look for jobs in the capital cities. I, however, am only interested in work that is not in the capital cities, so it would appear that Seek have no interest in people like me, which is disappointing..Version: 2.5.0

Functional, but poor UIWhy are all job search apps and sites poorly structured? You cannot limit by salary range or job hours until the second screen, despite these being key aspects of a job. Similarly you cannot easily exclude job areas, only include them. Perhaps there is a job in a field I haven’t thought of I could do; so I don’t want to overly narrow the search. But I’m still not legally trained or a CPA, so I don’t want to see those roles I’m not qualified for..Version: 2.2.0

Not worth the hypeI had heard great things about this app and how many people use it so I got it in hopes to search for a job. The layout for job searchers is fairly intuitive and makes it easy to fill out your information for your portfolio. However that’s were the praise ends. Employers are not held to the same standards as people looking for work. It makes it extremely difficult to be able to sift through every employers who have questionably brief employment ads or job recommendations that should have not been recommended to me based on my credentials. It took me 8 months to find a job that match me and it was no thanks to seek. It’s a lousy app that gives the illusion of working hard but in reality all it does all the checks on the employee instead of the employer. Give more verification and hold employers to a higher standard before you’re actually taken seriously as a job search app..Version: 2.135.0

Wrong jobs suggestedI have had 3 saved searches for 6 years and since the last update those searches now always show 99+ new jobs for each search. This is not possible as I search in an area where we are lucky to have 99 new jobs a month! Also in the recommended section as well as the weekly roundup, it suggests jobs in a completely different state that I’m in. I have never changed any settings or anything and have no idea why I’m seeing these jobs. This app used to be really great! Not so much now..Version: 2.4.0

Not user friendlyThere is no option to just select all of New Zealand for example when searching for jobs. Not even just the North island or South Island. Instead you have to individually click each district which only then directs the jobs to the first district you choose. This goes for all the other countries like Aussie, the UK and the likes I am a contractor and work world wide. I just want to click on a country, not every state, district and or region.. very very annoying! By all means have individual regions etc but make it so you can choose a general area. Please make changes so it’s a lot simpler to chose where to look for work..Version: 2.124.0

Recent changes aren’t goodUp until recently when I have searched for jobs in my suburb it will include my suburb and the surrounding one or two. As of a few days ago my job search now shows jobs that are available in a city 300km away from me. Please change it back to the way it was before the last update. It’s so frustrating to have to sift through jobs that aren’t even in my area- the overwhelming majority of which are not- to find the one or two which may interest me which are actually in my location..Version: 2.21.0

Brain-dead catch all search is unhelpfulLooking for specific jobs such as construction project manager returns hundreds of results making Seek look like a competent aggregator but the greedy search simply finds anything with the word "project". This results in hundreds of useless hits and alerts and I therefore have minimal confidence it will find what I'm looking for. Also the risk increases I may miss an actual opportunity due to it casting such a wide net. Coupled with stale adverts the Seek app needs a lot of manual handling for what is its primary function..Version: 2.25.0

Fake job portalFake job portal.Version: 2.84.1

Biased in favour of MelbourneI even tried to log an incident about it: all the recommended jobs ignore my location choice and as good as evangelise me to move to Melbourne. In response, I got a lot of excuses and let it go because there was no point in taking it out on the service desk personnel. However, even though I followed their suggestions—tried to open and view jobs located elsewhere, for example—I’m still being bombarded with ads from Melbourne, only Melbourne, and nothing but Melbourne. I’m getting this close to just uninstalling the stupid thing. On a different note, the app doesn’t work with the Apple Magic Keyboard for my iPad: I had to disconnect it even to type this review..Version: 2.67.0

Lacks basic featuresLacks features that are expected as standard for professional app developers, like multitasking support on iPadOS or widget options. There are some differences between the full desktop web version and the app, which shows that it’s not just a simple reskin of the browser version. This just makes it more disappointing and more clear that very little thought went into the design of the app experience. Also seems to not have all the search filtering results that the browser app provides. I understand hiding the less-used ones to declutter and make it easier for the user, but at least having the option hidden behind “advanced search” or something would be much better. I find myself switching out of the app to use the web browser a few times per day..Version: 2.147.0

Used to be goodNow 8 out of 10 times when I try to search, I get an error "Houston we have a problem". I can't fathom how an app can get worse with updates. Seriously, don't you have a robust QA and testing process in place?.Version: 2.0.3

RefreshingI keep putting the app in the background to do other things or apply on safari for jobs, when i reopen the app it refreshing like ive just opened the app. This is really annoying especially when you half way down 400 jobs and need some how find out where you left off. This hasnt happened before its only been recently! Please fix this ASAP.Version: 2.107.0

No Print Function - UselessAs the Seek web site won't print at all well from my iPad (has a huge popup that obscures most of it when you try to print) downloaded the Seek app. Found the app doesn't even have a print function!!! Deleted the app very quickly. Suggest you don't bother with it..Version: 2.5.0

Can you fix these issuesMake employees list the start/finish hours for work eg: 9pm-5pm even if it’s a rough idea, so many start hours can be unsuitable for most when the start times are 7am etc Be able to search by shift eg: morning, afternoon, night, ridiculous their is no option for this & have to go through hundreds of adds looking for afternoon/night For such a major site these should have been implemented years ago, make searching easy not frustrating.Version: 2.119.0

Seeking workI have found looking for work difficult. Especially talking to different staff about any jobs or if they’re hiring..Version: 2.118.0

Please fixCan't get any results as this app crashes every time I search. Please fix as I'd really like to be able to use it! Thanks..Version: 1.0.1

No LuckI have not received one offer for work from this site..Version: 2.36.0

👎👎Two thumbs down. The app looks pretty but when you download it you realize all it is is pretty. Right when I downloaded the app the location option were ridiculous and helpless. I deleted the app within 4 min. I do not recommend this app don't waste Ur time..Version: 1.0.2

FrustratingThis app is now so annoying and frustrating. Say for instance I want to search for a job in my area like Caboolture QLD 4510, well it now shows like over 10,000 jobs that are like 1-2 hours away from Caboolture. It never done this previously. So now I gotta search through all these jobs and then read them for no reason to find out they are like 2 hours away from where I live. If I wanted to work 2 hours away I would search there myself I don’t need seek to do it for me. There is no options in the filter to change this. Not happy with this app at all, think I’ll stick to indeed or career one..Version: 2.24.0

TOP UP stopped workingTOP UP feature saids an error occurred pull to retry & at the top of the screen it saids sorry, we couldn’t get all your information. Please pull down to retry. I refresh the app again and again and have also deleted the app and re-downloading but still the TOP UP feature does not work. I would rather use my credit card please..Version: 2.170.0

Good but needs more functionalityOther wise it is better to use the actual website, no having the ability to upload resume and cover letter is a inconvenience.Version: 1.3.22

Agency vs private filter neededEasy to use and good design, however, would prefer to be able to filter by private advertiser be agency, to be able to add notes as you can do on the website and to archive applied jobs for longer than 90 days..Version: 2.72.0

Irrelevant jobsLooking for customer service manager jobs in Auckland. 600+ results, only three are actually relevant. The search just brings up anything with any of those words..Version: 2.3.0

Swipe function should take you back to search, not from job to jobIt is very rare that users are searching so narrowly that they want to swipe from job to job. I constantly want to swipe back for the search so I can continue scrolling (in a wider search having already moved past jobs that weren’t the right fit) only to find myself on the ad before, one that I had already discounted. PLEASE change this. Maybe have arrow buttons at the bottom for moving from ad to ad, but allow swiping to take you back to the search, not the previous ad..Version: 2.27.0

Not PC independentSearching for jobs is fine but some functions like creating a Profile and uploading a Resume (cv) still require you to use a PC - this was surprising as I expected to be able to do everything in-app.Version: 1.3.1

Crashes, Needs attention...The app looks great and navigates well, but every time you try to filter by date, which should really be default, the app crashes..Version: 1.0.1

No uk supportOnly works for people in oz an nz, should say this in the description before you install it and register your details..Version: 1.3.2

SEEK has limited alignment to requirementsI find that only 5-10% of the jobs sent to me for consideration are really applicable to a person with my experience. I have tried many times to update my profile but there are very broad classifications resulting in too wide a search for jobs. It is time SEEK updated its system to allow job seekers to better profile their needs..Version: 2.129.0

No UK optionsAccording to this app, there is no jobs whatsoever in the UK. Terrible app, don't download!.Version: 1.3.1

Going nowhereSeek looks the same with no new features and benefits, the way it was 5 years - tired and boring. They never demand salary ranges from advertisers so if you have an alert for a role $150-$200k a year, you will still get emailed vacancies for hairdressers who haven’t specified a salary. The whole search criteria is outdated and even search options (that people want today) such as volunteer leave, hybrid/remote or working from home, or vaccination status aren’t selectable. Seek is just tired, outdated and has no competition who want to take them on..Version: 2.115.0

Not helpfulCan’t refine search enough to have any actual use.Version: 2.19.0

Not for US residentsIt wasn't until I registered for the app did I realize this app is only for Australians or New Zealanders. Even then, it's a dead zone..Version: 1.3

Traffic manager rolesMost Traffic Manager roles posted aren’t traffic related or come under construction roles, not typical traffic/resource operations roles which is frustrating.Version: 2.41.0

Could be betterSaved search filters are lacking in the app.Version: 2.66.0

Website has more functionalityI was hoping to be able to better track jobs I’ve applied for, but the app doesn’t even show me my notes against a job. Maybe stick with the website until more functionality is available..Version: 2.65.0

RubbishWhy is it that you put in a job location and they offer you jobs outside the location bloody app is useless.Version: 2.45.0

Spam appHad to delete the app because it auddenly started sensing notifications every day, without an option to disable it or to alter what/when to receive any IF desired. It was just spam spam spam. Tried to send feedback in the app but that just gave an error popup when pressing submit..Version: 2.66.0

The app keeps crashing on my phoneI’ve been using Seek for good two months and never had any issue with it - until just now. This morning it simply does not open and keep crashing when i try to open the app. So i deleted it and downloaded the app again, still experiencing the same problem..Version: 2.59.0

Very PoorSlow, cumbersome, keeps crashing. Updates have been shocking. Expected much better..Version: 1.3.20

Search function on the app doesn’t workI’ve been using this app for years but in the last couple of years I’ve found that the search function by location doesn’t work like it used to, meaning it doesn’t work at all. I try to search by location but it brings up all jobs all over Sydney, not even matching my one key search word. It’s hard enough to find a job these days but when the major job search app doesn’t work, it makes it much much harder and time consuming..Version: 2.60.0

Good but some serious flawsI'm currently looking for a job in Australia so this was an obvious app to download. In terms of searching its great and you can taylor the search to your needs and short list and manage jobs quite well. The issue comes to when you want to apply for a job, it won't let you attach a C.V. It defeats the entire purpose of the app when you can't use your most important tool for getting a job. Someone needs to sort this out as it ruins an otherwise fine app..Version: 1.1.2

Best job search appI have been using a few search apps of late and Seek wins, hands down. There is actually no comparison! I’ve had issues with the app and had to contact the support team. Can I say, WOW! Not only was I shocked that I got a response at all, I had a response within 24 hours!! From a site / app with soooooo many users, this is incredible. Well done, Seek! Thank you support team. A few suggestions. 1. It would be FANTASTIC if saved jobs could show the application expiry date and have a sort function for this too. 2. Written cover letters in the app do not go away! It has to be removed before applying to another job. It would be nice if it didn’t hold. 3. You’re awesome! Let it be known. Tell it from the roof tops. Now, I’ve used a LOT of job search sites so I can say that Seek is the best, hand on heart! Thank you :-).Version: 2.2.0

FeedbackIt is so annoying when I am looking for jobs advertised in Atherton, North Queensland, Australia and I receive notifications for jobs in Cairns, Blundell in Townsville and even Edmonton in England. I know Atherton is only a small area with not too many job vacancies, but to travel to Cairns daily for work is just not an option for me as it would entail at least 1 .5 hours of travel in not peak hour traffic. Upwards of 2 hour in peak hour traffic. And the ranges we have to travel down and up each day are downright dangerous. Than you for opportunity to give feedback..Version: 2.38.0

Crashed after 5minsWorked for 5 minutes, now it's continually crashing. Will probably have to delete it and reinstall..Version: 1.0.2

Time to deleteWell I had a message today that my version is no longer supported because you have rushed to keep it current with the latest version of IOS without giving any thought to people who still might be running older versions..Version: 2.113.0

Poor search resultsIt really bugs me when I search for a specific job title or role and instead of only showing the jobs that are relevant it shows ones completely unrelated. I seem to spend more time scrolling through these than looking at the roles I’m actually searching for. Can you please do something about the key word search so it only shows jobs relevant..Version: 2.24.0

Something changed in the algorithm?Already contacted user support and my issue was 'fixed' once Seek knew the email associated with my account but it has reoccurred less than 2 weeks later. And I see other reviews within the last 2 months are reporting similar problems, seeing suggested jobs outside their geographic region, role type or salary range. Personally, the algorithm is throwing out ridiculous suggestions for job roles, which makes the app and widget a nightmare to use. My saved searches, emails and saved jobs are all senior marketing positions, but I'm getting receptionist and entry level sales roles. Prior to the 'fix' I was receiving project management roles. Please correct whatever has gone wrong asap..Version: 2.44.0

Weird issueWhen you select your profile and go to management - resume - about your next role. I accidentally selected an option in the “about your next roll” section and there is NO way to deselect my option.. which now means anyone viewing my seek profile will see something false that I cannot undo. This shouldn’t be the case. A 6 year old would have the sense to have a very simplistic easy to install feature to deselect an option. Fix asap, it’s appalling that such a basic feature has flew right over the heads of everyone on the development team..Version: 2.155.0

Old versions of the app wont workUpon downloading this app. i got a message that the app require ios 9 or higher, but advise that a older version was avalaible. i downloaded this older version and opened it only to be told that there is a newer version of the app and to install this, i cant get past this message to use the older app version. Can you see the problem? plz get this sorted..Version: 2.3.0

Good appI must admit this is the best out of the job searching apps in Australia. The UI is easy and uploading documents works every time. The only thing I dislike (a lot) is the salary brackets. $80,000-$100,000 is SUCH A HUGE DIFFERENCE and fair to say someone looking in the realm of $100k doesn’t want to be shown jobs that are $81k. This actually just makes for a delayed process that whenever I am contacted by a recruiter or company, I first have to ask what the salary is so I’m not wasting either of our time. Would just be a nicer experience all round if this app had a more realistic salary bracket to do the ‘awkward asking’ for me..Version: 2.43.0

Good for searchesThis app is great for job searches, but fails with regard to applying for jobs. Despite being signed in, the app does not use my stored details nor will it allow me to attach the resume I uploaded to the website when applying for a job. Unless I'm missing something.Version: 1.1.1

No feed backSeek. How do I explain, iv apply for over 300 jobs and you are supposed to be the number 1 web site for jobs. The recruitment agency are so disrespectful. You are at a low as it is with finding a job to keep your family afloat and I’ve only had one interview walking away feeling even lower. You say at the top in your headlines that you possibly could be a good candidate for this job and recruitment come back say “ you don’t fit the criteria” but my resume fit the criteria of the job, I get told to down grade my resume as I’m a threat to the business and I’ll never get a job cause I’m to over qualified but I have that experience in what the business are looking for. I think recruitment agency pick and choose who they want which is unacceptable behaviour from a agency. why isn’t Seek CEO looking into this. Jobs in Brisbane on FB, everyone is saying that recruitments are the devil work. They don’t do their job. They don’t get hold of your referees when they say they will. They never ring back when they say they will. Their Is a lot of discrimination against race. (Male/female). Please seek look into this ask I’ve even put a request into 7 news.Version: 2.52.1

Why get emailed jobs that don’t applyOkay have always liked SEEK for the interface, ease of use etc however one thing I continually experience which is beyond a joke as well as annoying, being emailed jobs that have no relevance to me or don’t correspond to my saved searches E.g i searched up “no experience” for workplaces looking to take on people with little to no experience, I get two emails with jobs saying “we require the applicant to have Experience in X, Y & Z” The whole point of looking for a job for no experience is so that I can gain experience I don’t want jobs mailed out to me that I’m not even going to be considered for let alone that want someone with experience when I am not that person Plz SEEK fix this!!.Version: 2.25.0

PoorThis app is poorly set up to use it concentrates on jobs in Australia even when changing location..Version: 2.41.0

App retains profile info but website doesn’t & no response from tech supportAlthough the app retains your profile information, my website login disappeared and despite the fact that I emailed asking for help months ago, I’ve yet to receive any response to help rectify it ..Version: 2.134.1

Waste of timeDon't even waste your space or time on it if you live anywhere but Australia/New Zealand..Version: 1.3

Avoid -It used to be ok, now its just below average (when it works!) It keeps asking me to sign in and still does not attaches my cv to applications!? Older version was better, this latest one is appalling! I liked the fact before I did not have to sign in to access the app! There are still too many irrelevant jobs showing up in a single search....Version: 1.2.3

Seek App Developers NEVER respond to requests.I have asked Seek to refine the search parameters several times over the years and never get a response. Simple request, ALLOW USERS TO REFINE SEARCHED BY RADUIS TO LOCATION???? Like every other app on earth. NO ANSWER EVER? It is pointless searching for work near where you live when you can only search one suburb at a time. Other choice is the entire city which spans 80 kilometres. Try responding to users request, instead of repeatedly sending out automated emails that promise a response which is never forthcoming..Version: 2.143.0

Hard to navigate on usable search functionsThe website that seek users tries to push you into the app at every stage you just can’t avoid it you don’t know where the data is being kept all his utilising that data one has no choice if looking for job I can only hope that all the information that has been collected will be treated in confidence and never on sale to anyone or use for any other reason than the purpose for which it was intended and that is to find a job The application once you download it has reduced reduced functionality Once you enter in your desired information the application then just hijacked you to what it thinks you want to look at not what you’re actually requesting for. To me it appears that the GUI has been developed without the end user input it also exhibits a wealth of development opportunity for someone that would be switched on and keen in finding a job having that information reported back so they can then develop something that is functional. I.e. fit for purpose. I am also feeling a bit guilty because someone has spent a lot of time doing this work in developing what they believe to be a really good product unfortunately I’m black-and-white it’s just the way I am. I have always believe if you are not interested in the answer then don’t ask the question..Version: 2.76.0

Repeated jobs across searches: full time jobs in part time job searchesEach day I go through my saved searches and the amount of repeated jobs across categories means I am waisting so much time scrolling through jobs I have already seen in another search category. I feel like my life is being drained out of me trawling through duplicate information in diff searches. One search is for part time work........but there are so many listings for full time jobs in that search......WHY?? Help please? Why does this happen?.Version: 2.128.0
