✓ Love this game!I’m a word person and most word games make me roll my eyes. But this one is challenging and fun. I paid a dollar I think it was for the full version because the free version limited me to 3 simultaneous games at a time. Now there are times where I’ve got 13 games going at once. Some players only take their turn every few days, while others are near instant so I always have a challenge available no matter when I pick up my phone..Version: 4.6.1

These problems include that sometimes i get a notification that another player has played on but when i open the app, they are not there even after restarting. also i was playing with a friend and they played on but it didnt show up on my app. PLEASE update and fix these problems. otherwise this is an amazing game. really addictive.Version: 1.0
✓ One of the bestGreat app. It would be even better if we could make suggestions to the developer and he/she listened. Please allow feedback - surely it would be to the developer's benefit too. Despite some annoyances it's still one of my favourite and most used apps- and many thanks for developing it. Here are my suggestions 1. I use valid words that get rejected as not being in the letterpress dictionary (maybe because they're not commonly used in the US). Could a "submit a word to developers for consideration" be added? So annoying when you know that real words are being rejected. E.g the abbreviated"fax" is accepted whilst the original word "facsimile" is rejected. 2. Concur with others, when an opponent stops playing, the only option is to resign the game. If they refuse to play there should be a time limit after which the app resigns them (maybe after 2 weeks - which allows for vacation, internet issues, emergencies etc) 3. I paid for the upgrade which works on my ipad, but still get the message on my iphone that I need to upgrade to access upgraded version. 4. I have a favourite player I've been playing for months, but continually get error message #8 "invalid player" on some of my rematch attempts. I don't want to lose this valued opponent, but I foresee the day that this may happen due to the #8 error glitch. Nevertheless, a great app..Version: 1.5
✓ Great game - just a couple of issues"Boggle" meets "Go". I upgraded to the paid version simply because I appreciate the gameplay so much - I am loving it! I also love the minimalist graphic design - all the better to concentrate on the game itself. Some bugs and suggestions: 1. It seems to have trouble connecting to the Game Center on submitting sometimes. The only solution seems to be to fully quit the app with the double tap home button trick and come in again. 2. Maybe related: sometimes I get a push notification of an opponent moving, but when I go into the game it still says waiting for move. 3. ✓ Great game gets even betterWith this new version, 2.0, the game improved in many ways. There is still the same simplicity of gameplay which is of course the reason we all play it but the extra bits now work properly. For example, the developers have introduced their own game server. This has greatly improved the reliability and speed of game setup, turns, and reliability of notifications. Legacy Gamecenter games are still working but as people upgrade they will Peter out. The ability to add favourite opponents in-game is very good and saves a few steps. Certainly there are some new features like the ability to sync games between devices using their own system instead of Gamecenter but these are easily ignored if you don't want/need it. Note: the developers have not turned this game into a Trojan or harvested personal details in spite of what some morons might say. It's a clean app and a good game. It's often copied, never bettered, and now better than ever..Version: 2.0

It's much more competitive than scrabble-style games, because you and your opponent face off directly with exactly the same letter selection. There are cheats available, but cheaters are fairly obvious so it's easy to give them the flick. Game interface is very simple, sleek and user-friendly. ✓ Handicap for Second Player would make this 5-StarsA great game that would be 5-stars if some kind of handicap was implemented for the player playing second. Right now the first player gets an overwhelming and often insurmountable head start. Some possible ways to even the odds: 1. Limit the length of the first played word 2. Limit the number of blockable tiles of the first played word. 3. Lower threshold for victory for second player and increase for first player. Maybe 11-14 is enough for second player to win but first player needs 14-11 to win. None of these would take away from the general enjoyment of the game and would make for interesting decisions at the beginning and during the game. Even without this though, LetterPress is a great game that I’ve played for many months now and continue to enjoy. A great combination of vocabulary and strategy in a very elegant app..Version: 5.1

✓ Tricky at FirstIt took me awhile to get my mind around the strategy of this game, and I almost deleted it off my phone several times. But now that I understand it, I really enjoy it. One suggested improvement: a next game button. This could be fixed, and with all the complaints about this, it is surprising they haven’t tried to improve. ✓ The best but...I play four panes daily with my brother in Christchurch. We don't need to chat, it's just like touching fingertips. Like many of you, we leave one character unused and see how many words we can obtain from any one pane. It's not about winning and "high fives" it's about using one's brain. We have reached over 1000 words on one pane but the list of used words has become a solid black rectangle. The author could take a look at that error if they had a spare moment. This black rectangle has occurred on others as well - at about 7-800 words used. Fabulous game..Version: 1.5

✓ Perfect GameI love this game. It's simple, engrossing and smart. The one function I would like to see is the ability for the players to pick the pace they would like to play. In the quick pace if the player doesn't finish his/her turn in 5 minutes or something, they lose their turn. And you can have a slower pace for people who play one or turns a day. Someone suggested the ability to communicate to the other player. My friend and I have been playing a single game of Letterpress for 5 months (started on Aug 29) and we are now up to 1178 words played. We have been stuck with 3 open tiles (z,x and g) for months and we are still finding enough good words that neither of us is willing to risk losing the game to go after those three letters. ✓ Good game butGood different word game with option to play random people or computer people. The only down side is there are many long made up words that can be used. This game claims to use the Oxford English Dictionary yet I have looked for 4 separate long words a bot used playing against me and none can be found. I’ve looked in multiple dictionary’s and multiple oxford ones and none have any of these 4 words in stronganoffs, xanthodermas and foremasthand. It makes the game impossible to have a chance of winning allowing made up words as it comes down to who knows most made up words rather than real words. I’ve even used an anagram solver site where you enter letters and it gives you every possible word using any of the letters you put in and even that doesn’t come up with as long words as the bots do so no one has a chance of winning..Version: 4.5

✓ Love it!This is a great word game where you can compete against various ‘bots’ which have degrees of difficulty or against online players. You basically take turns to make the longest word you can and then your opponent does the same, trying to steal as many of your letters as possible. It’s strategic as you can make some letters ‘safe’ and not able to be stolen. It’s a bit difficult to explain - so download it and give it a go! I love it:).Version: 4.4.1

✓ Poor serversThis really is the most fun and original word game I've played in ages. But it no longer works... broken... dead... They failed to support this app with proper server infrastructure. Hopefully it gets better. Also the game has some teething problems with rechallenging opponents easily... and the 5x5 grid format means a huge advantage to whomever goes first when players with both good word making ability and tile capture strategy square off. Make it 6x6 or 7x7 or perhaps have variable grids... A good statistician/mathematician could tell them the optimal size for the board but 5x5 really means a certain victory for one. Letterpress allows you take a quick turn, then your spouse does, then you take another quick turn, etc. It is easy to quickly to size up the board, and then it takes some thought to make your turn (if you want a chance to win!). The game's dictionary blocks what aren't words, which encourages you to experiment and try what might be words, with no penalty. Have two games going simultaneously with your spouse. The game keeps its interest, and your skills advance (both of you) with more play. The game remembers where you are at on its cloud, so you can play the current game from any of our ios devices. Like Scrabble, a large vocabulary is very helpful, but in fact strategy is more important and the more you play this game the deeper you realise it goes. Makes Scrabble look like a child's game. It's not clear what "unique words played" or "unique opponents beaten" mean. It would be good to have some metric that lets a player see the extent to which they have improved over time - that's motivating. Update - taking off a star bc the dictionary is becoming very poor. Yesterday it said "salicylic" (as in acid, i.e. Aspirin) wasn't a word, and now it says "cagoule" isn't a word either. Recently it has allowed an opponent to play a word that it earlier prevented me from playing, and after it had been played told me the word didn't exist, not that it had been played already!! I get a notification (from the app) that my opponent has moved and it's now my move, but when I open the app, it still shows the game before my opponent's move. ✓ One of my favourites, but...This game reminds me a little of Othello. It's fantastically addictive. I love the strategy element to the game. There is one slight bugbear that I have with this game. Actually two. The first? Whoever starts first has a slight advantage - they lock in the juiciest corner and it can kind of be difficult to recover from that. I'm not sure how that could be remedied but #justsaying. Secondly, and importantly, there really needs to be timed game options. This would be so that a word would need to be played within 60 seconds, 90 seconds or 2 minutes (depending on the option chosen) after first opening the board on their turn. If no word is played within the specified time the the turn would pass to the other player. At the moment you can wait an unspecified amount of time. I also often get the feeling that many people use ‘solver’ websites and the timed game options just wouldn't give those users the time to do all of that. I make most of my plays inside of two mins, and the other plus is that the time limit would add another dimension - pressure. I will say, however, that the addition of bots has been fantastic. I play against the bots almost exclusively now as the hardest setting gives a great challenge and you only have to wait a few seconds between turns, as opposed to playing with a live player. It's a lovely combination of strategy and word knowledge. Some games are over in a few moves; others are 60 turns long and you can play at and mouse for weeks. The biggest and best words are not always the right ones to play, and you have to pick your moment to grab the best territory when the time is right. It beats the hell out of Scrabble, which feels limiting and humdrum by comparison, and it's well worth 5 stars. My only gripes are these - forgive me if any have already been fixed: - no league tables - I wish it wouldn't allow removal of prefixes, just like it already does with suffixes. So if you play DISRESPECT, your opponent can play RESPECT. That can feel a bit unfair at times - I wish it would auto match you with a player of similar ability. When you match with a player who just doesn't know many English words (no disrespect to them) it can be a bit easy. ✓ Great for ongoing games with friendsLetterpress is an old classic, and I played it back in those days. I was pleasantly surprised to see the developers have kept working on it. It was already great for playing against your friends casually (make a move when you have time). The new polish for social features is a great plus. ✓ Not just another word gameThis is a genuine original, not merely another lookalike. Real creative thought went into the mechanics and design of this game - very impressive. So far I’ve played only against the bots. Bot 1 is pretty dumb, but Bot 2 requires thought, Bot 3 is hard for me to beat, and Bot 4 is probably unbeatable. I’ve had one game against a friend, but the bots are more challenging. One star off for the horribly intrusive ads, which sometimes can be dismissed only with difficulty, and the rather high price of getting rid of them completely, which is $5. I like to think I’m pretty good at word games. Of course I may be deluding myself, but I suspect that bot-based play will be too difficult for most people. Excellent app overall. I’m tempted to check out the creators’ other efforts..Version: 4.7.1
