✓ Happy to pay 4 DTS...So, 4.99 later and I can now play absolutely everything I have stored on my NAS. Don't mind the interface at all... I think I actually prefer it over the old look. Only slight issue I have is my Bluray rips are a little bit jittery now (played nice & smooth with old version, though no DTS of course ). Overall, a great app... Probably the best you'll find for streaming movies over your home network... Also plays WTV files, if you happen to use Windows Media Centre... and works well with my HDHomerun..Version: 3.0.0
✓ Good, but doesn’t display music tags?For audio I don’t see anyway for it to display the ID tags for my library (mostly lossless .m4a). ✓ Powerful AppFantastic app, really happy with it, it just plays anything I throw at it. Though I find one small flaw in that I pointed it at my media folder on my NAS last night using DLNA and it contained 605 sub folders, the app refused to display my sub folders (because there was simply too many), so I ended up having to re-shuffle my folders around to make it work. I dont know what the number of folder limit is but just be aware its less than 605 so if you’ve got an extensive collection somewhere be warned. ✓ AWESOME SIMPLY AWESOMEMy music collection is extremely large (20Tb plus) over 25 or so clouds. My collection contains pretty much every known file format in a wide range of audio quality. This player does EXACTLY what I want it to do. The sound is crystal clear, volume can be controlled and IT WORKS!!!! I have tried virtually every app on the store since my previous app ran into serious issues. This app BLOWS AWAY everything else in the store. I just wish I found it $50 ago. ✓ Best video Player out thereForget the rest just get nplayer. This app plays it all seamlessly from wifi or downloaded to ipad. Even allows me to be connected over FTP to my media server at home so can stream movies from wherever I am. Been using nplayer now for over a year and in that time it's continued to get better and better. I have reported a few minor bugs and asked for some new features and every time I've had a response within 24hrs from the developer and fixes/new features released quickly thereafter. Great app guys. Curiously, the network speed during playback hovers at approximately 10MB/s, a fraction of the potential speed. ✓ Polished and refinedI bought nPlayer before the recent major update and despite the exclusion of the DTS codec, I much prefer the current release over the last. From what I know, using the DTS requires the dev to pay a licensing fee so not including it for current users is understandable. I also appreciate that they didn't make a "nPlayer 2" and charge everyone full price for it. The design of the current release is more refined and inline with iOS 8/9. The app is also very customisable. I tried Infuse and I prefer nPlayer overall. Infuse might be slightly more polished but it lacks customisability and the ability to view photos..Version: 3.0.1

No issues with slow or juddering video. The biggest fault is no DTS audio support, which is a major oversight. My only other gripe is the user interface is very unsightly when compared to the likes of Infuse which also suffers from the DTS problem. I really love using pip while I play mobile games but it’s really annoying that I have to go back to the media player just to toggle pip mode again for the next video in my playlist. ✓ One of the top two media players on IOSUpdating an earlier review as I've now purchased the upgrade for DTS and Chromecast/DLNA Cast. This is one of the best two media players on IOS, the other being Infuse Pro. While infuse looks nicer with it's Media Center layout (if that's what you are after) NPlayer has better functionality (DLNA casting), in-app browser for web video, etc.) and is cheaper. The only thing that it lacks is the ability to send all video and audio formats to Chromecast - it is only capable of sending the ones that Chromecast natively supports, like MP4. Infuse also does the transcoding so it can send MKV, AVI, MPG (and other) files as well. This isn't a problem when DLNA casting to my DLNA player (Kodi) which plays every format anyway (and infuse doesn't do DLNA casting as far as I am aware). Nplayer just edges it but you can't go that far wrong with either..Version: 3.2.0

The built in browser isn't fantastic, but it lets me navigate to the recordings I need and download them locally! I also have MythTV running on a desktop server to do my TV recording and play back. ✓ I completely agree with the last review.See below for updates (currently 3.8.3 ... Things changed) This app handles so many file types. It will even background play video files (great for music videos and stand up comedies). It communicates well with the network shares (via SMB / WebDAV). Worth the $5 if you own an iOS device. UPDATE (3.8.3): So when playing audio via Bluetooth in the car, the music note randomly disappears (it's not specific to any audio file, sometimes it does it sometimes it doesn't) and if you lock the phone, it struggles to unlock when nplayer is playing. Major bug that needs to be addressed. (On iOS 10.3.3). -- UPDATE: 3.2 is out. One major annoyance is the new seeking. At first I noticed a subtle change in the way the swipe was seeking in my audio files. Didn't think much of it. But then I tried to seek like I used to over Bluetooth (car system) and it's doing an old behaviour. It get stuck at 10x (going forward or reverse) and I have to unlock the phone and press the tiny 1x button to get it back to normal lol (not safe when driving) This was not the case in the last version and I believe this issue was fixed in the past. Please please please fix. The rest is very very nice (as far as the new update goes). Highlighting the last played track is actually insanely handy. Still testing other features. -- UPDATE (3.0 review): The interface is very different, but all the functionality remains. A few new things to get used to (like double tapping the screen to browse while background playing). The web interface is really nice. You can finally make new folders in the web interface (guarantee this was a request of many). Still playing around with it, but I really like this update! You can also in-app purchase the DTS audio support / chromecast support all for one purchase which is cool). ✓ Finally!I took a gamble on this app as it didn't have many reviews and I was so glad that I did. For a long time since the AC3 audio support removal from a lot of apps, I have struggled to find an app that both supports that codec and also allows for direct streaming from Samba shares. This app is finally the one to do that! I have all my media stored on network drives and so this app lets me browse them via SMB and then just click to stream. My episodes of Futurama can once again be watched on my phone! In addition, this app doesn't cut off the file names to for them in, meaning as per my naming convention I can see the full title as well as the episode number. A small detail you might think but a lot of popular apps fail to do this. In all, a fantastic app that is well worth the price and has very quickly earned a 5* rating..Version: 2.6.5

BUG ReportI’m glad that your team have added new functions that allow us connect to a third monitor, play videos on the connected screen WHILE the iPad is SCREEN OFF. 1, I found a BUG that the external subtitles (the included subtitles also) don’t show up at all when the video is playing on the connected screen while the iPad is screen off (I have tested the internal subtitles and external ones, I have tested different subtitle formats, the bug still exist.) 2, Another bug I found that the font size of the subtitles on the connected screen don’t scale properly. I mean the font size are seemly fixed, it doesn’t scale to the connected screen size (I remembered that the subtitle scale on the connected screen works just fine, it’s two or three versions backwards I suppose). I play lossless music (FLAC) from my NAS (networked storage), I show subtitles for my songs in real-time using LRC files. I can adjust brightness and volume by sliding my finger up the screen during playback. I can skip forward or backward sliding my finger left to right This program is the Swiss Army knife of multimedia. If a format exists, nPlayer can play it. No special software is needed on your computer or NAS (eg. PLEX is not necessary). I used to think the reason my old 3GS could not stream was because it was well... old, however with this player I have been able to stream full movies without choppy playback. ✓ Awesome media player but poor chromecast support.For people who heavily watch subtitles. This is the video player app to get, it's worth every penny. Especially ANIME WATCHERS. DLNA works exceedingly well, at least in my case where I was using this in conjunction with universal media player on PC. UPDATE 04/02/16: purchased the upgrade with DTS and chromecast support. I don't really run into many video with DTS audio but the convenience is nice. The Chromecast on the other hand has MIXED results. If you're casting MP4 videos, even from a media server it should be fine. If you're casting mkv videos, it's hit or miss and if you're casting mkv videos with subtitles, FORGET about it. The best I could do was cast the video but no subtitles, others I get audio only and no video. DO NOT UPGRADE ($5.99) IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR CHROMECAST SUPPORT. unless you only need it to cast MP4 videos without subtitles. UPDATE 15/03/2016 Just recently realised the app has PIP (Picture in Picture) which is AMAZING, it allows you to watch video while you use a different app. Downside? It only supports MP4 videos, at least from what I've tested. Most of the videos I have are MKV encoded. Will give 5 stars when the app has subtitle and/or transcoding support in the Chromecast. ✓ Great app but DTS support removed!!This is an amazing player, I use it to access my large video library on my network or to watch stuff on the road. Most of my videos are high quality MKVs (1080p) that have DTS audio tracks (I normally play them on my home cinema set-up). I bought it on the premise that it plays DTS audio tracks and it originally did. The removal of DTS support has really disappointed me as it was one of the key reasons I bought this app. If you don't play videos with DTS audio, I heartily recommend this app, however, for me it's useless now. ✓ Best App I've bought in a while!My criteria was to find an app that would allow me to play video from my home server via a secure sftp connection. Nplayer ticked that box and after seeing good reviews decided to tale the plunge and with not a single regret. Im happy to report that not only does it sport an intuitive interface, Its does so much more than the sftp! Allowing me to also make use of the DLNA enabled capability of my server and stream to my ios devices that way. Its undoubtedly going to save me time in not having to transcode and sync my ipad and phone as it has an inbuilt software decoder to tackle those non standard mpeg4's. ✓ Nice to see an update but DLNA brokenI'm pleased this app is being updated, and the recent release fixed a couple of problems I'd been having but DLNA isn't working. I have a couple of servers on my network which nPlayer used to be able to connect to without any problems but I had to rebuild my ipad a couple of months ago and reinstall the app - since then it can't find the servers while other video players can.
