✓ ShamelessWell here is another great example of a game that will do nothing but pester you for more of your money. Opening the application, it brings up a list of other games to sink money into. Throughout the game it points out how long things take to build, and how much faster it would be if you would be willing to pay another $6 for infinite fast forward. Do you find you exp is going up too slow as well? Pay more money for double exp! This is lazy game developing. There was no attempt at anything new; there are other games that do this style of gaming with more finesse, where you can at least close the app and come back to seeing your buildings completed; not this game. If you're not willing to pay for more "prestige", you've got to let every painful second of building be built. Funnnn. A setting which buildings I’d like completed first would also be great. Combat is also a bit lack lustre with zero control over troops other than building and supplying guard towers. ✓ Promise but too much?My first impressions Cute and charming game. The tunes and graphics are good enough. Too much? This reminds me of an old school classic called the settlers. I also plaid the original Townsmen on old school mobiles. Where the original settlers had just enough layers of resources and combat my initial feeling is there’s too many resources / layers to juggle here. Pops ups herbs needed, water needed, pigs needed, workers needed etc. What’s needed is a priority chain for goods. So if woods needed you move logs up the list, then planks etc. Seems geared to have to instant build as you run out of townies. Can’t get any more as there’s no one to build town houses. I will keep at it, maybe play with sandbox. But as much as I want to love it and enjoyed the old school Townies games the supply chains after an hour of playing tutorials are too complex. ✓ Disappointing updateI used to love this game before the latest update, it was definitely a 5 star rating. Now it is too hard to progress without spending real money. The buildings have decreased productivity and the costs to build and repair the buildings are astronomical. The game is now far too time consuming and is not an enjoyable experience anymore. It seems the sole purpose of the research goals is to get consumers to spend real money as it is completely unreasonable to attain these any other way. I have already paid for this app, I don't want to have to keep spending just to get somewhere in the game. ✓ Some good some disappointing thingsMy first thought before purchasing this was the premium edition is hardly a deal. You can remove adds for .99 from the free version and add 250 prestige points for 1.99. Those were the only features touted as making the premium edition better so I have trouble understanding why the premium version is 3.99. I bought the premium edition anyway to support the developer because there is a dearth of games of this ilk in the App Store and I would like to see more. However, my desire to support the developer not withstanding, I could see people passing on the game because of this pricing issue. I sincerely hope it was a mistake on the developers part and not intentional. I enjoy the game. the mechanics are pretty solid, and I appreciate the addition of sandbox modes. I think the game is easily worth the price I paid. I despise freemium content and refuse to support developers that make spending hard currency a necessity to progress. Thankfully, that is not the case with this game. My major gripe and the reason this game is only receiving three stars, is my inability to listen to my own music while I play. This is an irritation in a dollar game: it's inexcusable in a $4 game. If developers putting out free games can include this capability, game developer putting out a premium game look lazy when they do not. This isn't good enough for Townsmen; instead you either have to pay for instal build, use fast forward (and then pay for more fast forward) or wait for real time builds, but forcing you to stay in game while you wait. Frankly I'm not going to sit around and wait to see if the game gets any good, because I have better things to do with my time. Their review in the description about playing the game for a year? ✓ Good game, but...I have to agree with the other posters that the most recent update made the game A LOT harder. I too, am finding it a constant struggle to keep my people happy and buildings repaired. I get its a "freemium" and they have to encourage players to keep buying in app purchases even after they have bought the game, but the changes will reduce the fun factor of the game and drive away your business. Otherwise, I like the addition of seasons and the foresters hut. Possible updates could be stables to provide better horses to the jousting arena to increase its entertainment ability. ✓ The Word Premium Could Be BetterOk it’s the paid version. No ads that’s awesome. But I feel there should be way more decorations than what there is now. Another thing the prestige is out of control. You don’t gain coin fast enough from taxes without spending the coin you don’t have. ✓ If I could leave 0 stars I wouldThe premise of the game is actually quite good, a lot like settlers with different resource trees to fulfil and manage. Unfortunately the game is mired by ads even when you have purchased the ad free premium version as well as the ad on to reduce speed up ads totalling £5 for the game. The developers have introduced wear on to all buildings that must be constantly repaired using gold, there is no way to produce enough gold to have some semblance of a normal enjoyable game without using prestige to get more gold or your buildings all burn down. There are two ways of getting prestige, pay £100’s more or sit through relentless ads. I’ve no doubt the positive reviews on here have been bought. If at any point you choose to buy something on the game or watch one of the relentless ads it glitches and you sometimes have to do it 3 or 4 times to get the reward. Don’t bother trying the other ways to get prestige like filling out surveys, when you do it they never actually give you the reward even after you’ve completed everything it says to do, they just harvest your details for nothing back. If after all of this you still download the game and encounter one of these problems don’t bother to contact the developers either, they just ignore you. Steer well clear..875906926Version: 1.14.2

✓ It’s okThe food availability seems a bit arbitrary. One minute you have 10 Townspeople and 100% food stock, and the next minute it drops to 30%, even though there are no new villagers to be eating more food. Also it crashes a lot. It’s especially annoying if you are in the middle of a rapid build when it crashes. The game won’t save the finished built structure on your map, but it will remember how much you spent on Prestige to rapid build it and that amount will be gone. ✓ Update Spoils GameI loved playing Townsmen and even upgraded to the premium, but the latest update has me irritated. It takes a lot longer to build and costs to build have gone up. Plus, now you have to "upgrade" buildings just to get them as efficient as they were before the update. The worst part, aside from the constant pop-ups that now try to sell me more upgrades ( I thought I bought the premium game to stop this) , I lost all of my saved games because they wouldn't play with the update installed and I used up most of my saved prestige just trying to get through the tutorial in under 2 hours. I understand the logic behind the update, but wouldn't it have been better as an "advanced" add-on? I want my old Townsmen game back. So, OK. I gave it a chance and the new version, though more difficult, is playable. Once you get past the changes, they actually make sense. The trick is to keep going back to the first scenario and get the rewards. Especially the 10,000 Thaler donation; it gets you 100 prestige just like that. Then you can use that prestige to help you through the continuing scenarios. I will stick to my initial statement, though.
