Guitar Fretboard Note Trainer for Negative User Reviews

Could be so much better...The idea of this app is to improve your fretboard knowledge and help you in being able to identify the notes on the guitar. Like many completely free versions of this available on the internet this definitely does work. However, considering there are many free versions you expect something more when you pay for it, detailed statistics is what I had imagined. Nothing shows that you are learning better than being able to test yourself continuously against your previous top scores, but you can’t actually do that. The statistics are basically useless on here, it’s just a running total of right and wrong answers. It would be nice to see your results plotted out on a graph over time to see how much you have learnt and developed. I’d suggest this upgrade is made to give it a USP over the free versions of this, until then, why pay for it when you can get it for free?.Version: 2.17

Lacking lefty supportAs you would expect with Justin's products, it is a quality, well thought out and intuitive tool. My problem is that it lacks support for us lefties and that is a problem for me, more so because it is not highlighted in the app description. I certainly hope to see it added in subsequent releases and will be keeping it ready on my iPod just a pain having to wait..Version: 1.0

Excellent app but no left handed config. optionI'm a beginner and I play left handed. This is a great little app but could be so much more convenient if it had the option to configure for left handed like say the "ear trainer" app. Instead I have to play the old "flip the on screen image" game in my head. True, it's not a big deal more of a minor annoyance and it gets easier in time but it would be better if I didn't have to and it takes a bit of getting used to. Having said all that, great little app. Works a treat and I'm already experiencing the benefits. Functionally it's 5 stars. It gets 3 in my review because of the lefty thing. Come on chaps - a little update for us lefties..Version: 1.1

Needs to be updated to run in IOS 11Can’t run application in IOS 11.Version: 1.1

MrThere is no left hand option..Version: 1.0

Sound doesn't workWould love to give this app 5 stars as I love most of Justin's products, but I can't seem to get the sound to work on this app which is very disappointing. Everything else about it is great..Version: 1.0

Decent app but should have more functionsIt would be amazing if I could limit to which frets I want to practice. Say if I want to memorize only frets 3, 5, 7 and 10 for example. The app is a great basis but it lacks some polish..Version: 2.11

Very goodPlease make it a little easier for us beginners by showing just six frets at a time instead of 12. Thanks and again, a great app..Version: 1.0

Terrible!I'm a begginer, which means I'm always looking for good ways to train my guitar skills. This however seems to serve more as a way to make sure you practice the knowledge you already have. There is no tutorial, so you don't know what you're doing half the time and the interface is terrible, which makes it even worse. There could be potential if as previously stated, there was a tutorial. Also if for example it could tell me where the notes were and then I had to place their locations by memory, not just expect that I find them on my own by chance with no knowledge being given whatsoever. As it stands It is a horrible app and I regret buying it..Version: 1.0

Can’t change tuningCan only play in standard tuning. Unable to change guitar tuning, I play a whole step down..Version: 2.17

It’s a nut problem.!The only thing that works as advertised is name the note. The nut position on a fretboard is unavailable to touch, not responsive, in the other modes. You should call the software developer back in to fix this problem, probably a sizing problem. Tried it on Both iOS devices, iPad and phone. Until they fix this, I say, save you a bucks..Version: 2.17

MehOnly way to use this app is if you already know most of the notes! They need to add a lesson section. Wasted money on this app..Version: 2.17

No longer worksNot updated to 64 bit, so will not run on iOS 11 👎👎.Version: 1.1

It's ok.It could use a lot of work. Sometimes I have to tap the notes several times before it will actually register. The way you want to practice should be customizable as well. I would like to be able to practice notes on each string individually and it would've been useful to have that option. It's still not the worst, but not worth paying for..Version: 1.1

Needs some updates and room to growA mode I think that would be immensely useful is find all the Es, find all the As etc. as it stands now it feels a bit random and a little hard to make connections..Version: 1.1

No Southpaw support!I downloaded this after getting the excellent Metronome app a few weeks ago but unfortunately it does not support left handed players like myself. I thought this app would have a toggle option to flip the neck to replicate a left handed guitar, like a lot of other apps, but it does not! If you're not left handed then this is a useful learning tool. If this functionality was added I would score this 5 stars!.Version: 1.0

Don't buy this appWhen you tap a note on the fretboard it either doesn't register or registers on an adjacent string or fret. Don't waste your money on this POS!.Version: 1.0

No left handed support!Dissapointed to if no left handed support! It's rather confusing when as a left handed player your used to looking at the fretboard with the 12th fret on the left... If it was not for this I'd give five stars for sure..Version: 1.1

Gets the job done.Gets the job done, but doesn't justify $1.99 with such a limited function. The distributor also has not updated this app since 2013. The layout looks like it's made for iPhone 3. However it does get the job done and force you to memorize the notes on guitar from various perspectives. My biggest critic is, it doesn't track your performance. It tells you at the end at each run, but your scoreboard stays empty. Great concept of an app. Can be quite the niche, but can use a lot of improvements..Version: 1.1

Good but frustratingLots of little bugs with recognize touch presses. It makes me happy to be learning but the app gets in the way so much that I want to throw my phone sometimes. Still I don't know any better way to learn the fretboard..Version: 1.1

No southpaw support???Surprised to find this app doesn't support left handed players. This is a shame as otherwise it is a great app. Only buy if a right handed player..Version: 1.1

Good, Fun, needs helpPLEASE ADD A LEFTY MODE! This app will definitely help you learn and it is a clean simple interface. Most digital aides have a lefty mode and I have gotten used to it as a lefty. I will give it 5 stars once that is added..Version: 1.0

What about us lefties?I can't benefit from this app (i.e. use it) until this is resolved, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed (on my left hand--I can still hold a pick that way) that I'll see an option for a left-handed fingerboard orientation on the next update. Once that is resolved, I'll add more stars, as I'm sure I'll love it. BTW, the sound works fine on my 2nd gen iPad using iOS 6.0..Version: 1.0

No playing guitarI was expecting an app with microphone access to play guitar with and note train but it’s all in an app. This is boring and it doesn’t click with me..Version: 2.00

Where’s the leaderboard?I like the app, but I wish that the statistics showed most notes found in 3 minutes and the same for the other stuff. Leaderboards used to do that but now they are gone..Version: 2.11

Good but…One main issue. The pitches played when you choose a note on the fretboard are not matched to the correct octave. If you get really good at the tests on this app, it will mess with you when you play the same notes on a real guitar..Version: 2.17
