✓ Flawless gameplayAgain I'm left wondering why the first two never received the same love. Just as with my review of III I can't fault this one. It runs flawlessly. It keeps crashing on the Golbez battle which should really be fixed as the battle is straight after a previous boss fight so having to do the first battle again is very fustrating (easy as itis if you know the correct stratagy). ✓ Finest Fantasy?Having missed the original 1991 version and coming upon the characters in Dissidia, I bought this in the hopes of learning the story behind them. I did not expect to be amazed as I have been, merely considering the graphical overhaul to be the only upgrade to the game. I was wrong, this game has been lovingly recrafted and has a lot of great features including auto battle and transparent maps, like Diablo, as well as voiced cutscenes, like Final Fantasy 10. Whether a newcomer to the series or a veteran, I believe this has a lot to offer all who choose to give it a try. I truly hope that Square Enix use this as a template for when Final Fantasy 6 comes back around..Version: 1.1.0

✓ Always come back to replay thisI have played this game start to finish probably a dozen times since I was a kid on the SNES until now. It’s timeless, from the soundtrack to the simple yet effective battle system. Only thing I’d criticize is I feel it’s too easy. I’d really like to see a “Paladin” or “Dark Knight” mode, that is like new game+ but with more difficult mobs and modifiers. All in all, this title, along with FFVI and FFVII (and Breath of Fire 2, seriously Capcom, release old breath of fire’s on iOS, DONT make me pirate your stuff) are my all time favorite games..Version: 1.4.4

The prices of these Square [Enix] games are fairly steep as far as app-store games go, but being so much of a FF fanatic, it was money well spent in my books. ....and I HAVE to believe that the franchise will keep bringing out EVERY pre-Playstation 3 Final Fantasy game... ✓ EpicThis game is so great, I have had to complete it at least two times (not new game++) this game never seems to get boring the only things wrong are occasionally it lags but stops after about 30 secs and the overlapping voices on the cutscenes. My only *slight* issue with it is that without a real controller its very hard to select the right item/magic fast enough in the heat of battle, especially when set to active battle! ✓ WowFF2 (as it was called back when it was released for SNES in the early 90s) was the first RPG I ever played. I was a little skeptical of this when I bought it, but 6 bucks isn't a big investment so I decided why not. This was an awesome play. I loved the fancy renderings of the dungeons that were so basic in the original version. I love that they added some dimension and backstory to the characters, and all in all it was a big improvement. The 3D characters were not cheesy or overly cartoonish and the voice acting was good. I was very impressed. The monsters, on the other hand, were funky to me, specifically the difficulty and certain attacks (laser barrage, anyone?). I remember the final boss in the SNES version being extremely hard even though I had raised my characters to level 80+. I fought the final boss with all my characters' levels between 72 and 76 and I absolutely pwned him. He didn't even cast Big Bang. Just meteor once and everyone survived. I was worried as I was going through the final dungeon when some of the enemies were laying waste to my party and I had to run from every battle during the last 3 levels, but no. Some random mobs hit much harder than the final boss which is weird, but everything else was great. Will definitely be playing through again..Version: 1.4.4

This game is not comparable to the PlayStation versions in terms of story. In fact, it's probably not unfair to say that the story is insultingly dumb and stupid. The price tag effectively means that the main target group are people familiar with the series. Landed my airship, walked up to a meteor crash site that I thought I could explore, and then the screen went black for a second (like when transitioning from one area to the next). When the screen comes back on I see I am transported back to the island with the Lodestone Cave, with my airship still on Eblan island! I like the 3d graphics and hated the 2d graphics (compared to ff6, which was great) it really adds atmosphere to the game. You could quit easily lose yourself in this game for 40 hours. ✓ FantasticAn excellent game which benefits greatly from the updated graphics, it breaths fresh life into an 20 year old game. The game itself is great, the storyline is good, a little predictable if you have played enough RPGs, controls are great and very intuitive. The auto battle system is good although the purist in me does question it's inclusion. Hard mode is welcome, some very challenging boss fights later on in the game which really do cause you to think about strategy. My only annoyance is the constant flux of characters and not on knowing which will last and for how long, but as a remake it is an excellent accomplishment and well worth the price (I'm up past 30 hours in the final dungeon)..Version: 1.1.0

Finished it today with all the side quests - 41hrs clocked - For an app on the iPhone that is pretty impressive! The controls are a bit tricky at first but once you get used to them your flying! ✓ 5 Star But still have a complaint.I’ve had this game on my iPad for a few years now but am writing this review because of a problem on my 3rd playthrough. I had always planned to try and get all of the augments and best armor and defeat the 2 hidden bosses. Apparently what I’ve read from blogs and have just experienced myself is that on the iOS version they Do Not give out a 2nd limit break augment when you start a new game on the 3rd playthrough. But they do on the DS I guess. Idk I’ve never played a DS. Other than that I absolutely Love this version of my favorite rpg. I could play it over and over again forever. I know the story by heart and where all the treasures are these people who remade it did a perfect job I think. The music goes along perfectly with the story just as it did on the snes. Graphics are awesome too. I love going into the land of summoned monsters, looks great. The small changes to the script are fine and modern..Version: 1.4.4

I enjoy the music in this version and it has controller support using a device like the Razer Kishi. The game plays great and looks crisp on my iPhone XS, 11 Pro Max and 12 Pro Max. Controls perfectly fine, the 3D graphics look great and the addition of voice acting adds a lot to the story, making it far more engaging than past versions of FF4. The story itself is probably one of the best in the series with a fantastic cast of characters who really come to life, even more so now that they're voiced. It is definitely the best Final Fantasy on iOS at the very least. The price is steep for an app, but its totally worth it. You'll get well over 40 hours of gameplay, coupled with an amazing story and soundtrack. No RPG gets better than this on handhelds. A must buy game. ✓ Best Final Fantasy on iOS.I truly believe this is the best entry into the realm of Final Fantasy ports that Square has embarked upon. Fantastic adoption of visuals, great to have voice acting, and also great that this is a universal app (as FF3 wasn't). There are however a few minor problems - one being that this had no cloud saves. So for those of us with an iPhone and an iPad, you cannot play the same saved states on both devices which is very disappointing. Aside from this - a must buy for any fantasy RPG fan..Version: 1.0.0

✓ Perfect except for...Alright his game is just as I remember it on the ds. Unlike a lot of people, I'm not getting any battle lag, or anything of that nature. The game looks and runs great. My only problem is the control. It's similar to the way is is for ff3 and I hate It! I know that some people like the swipe controls, but a lot of people I know have massive hands, and the swipe controls aren't good for us. Please add a virtual d-pad in, like you have with final fantasy dimensions. Other than that tiny issue it's definitely worth the money. ✓ Great Game - Great Port - Deserves an UpdateThis game is fantastic, and I’d go so far as to say the experience is the best iteration so far. I have thoroughly enjoyed this game since I started playing it on iOS. It’s very intuitively set up with loads of improvements since it first released on iOS. I really hope this gets an update to support newer device size, even if it merely adds decorative bars to either side of the gameplay area. Note to developers: Please don’t try to force a wider stretched view if this app is updated. The port of Final Fantasy VI suffers greatly graphically because of the forced stretch.
