Rolling Stone Magazine for Negative User Reviews

HopelessEnds up in a pop up loop of endless “allow push notifications” no combination of answers gets rid of this. Don’t bother..Version: 19.1.1

Restore now worksI still lost last year purchases (2014). I like the magazine but I will not renew. $5 price increase, lost issues buggy app. Too much of a hassle restoring every time you update the app. Time to roll on....Version: 2.4

App won’t open, no way to contactI’m reviewing because they won’t respond on messenger and there is no other way I can find to report that the app stopped opening on my phone last week. I love this publication and used the app multiple times daily..Version: 19.2.4

Total jokeI hate rolling stone digital. Latest iOS update and everything goes to hell. I cant sign in because i bought my subscription through itunes. I have no idea whats goin on. Hate..Version: 2.4

Really? This hasn’t been fixed yet?Have been RS digital subscriber for years but cannot access the content as it only loads a red screen. It has been this way for weeks and I cannot believe there has not been a fix or an explanation!.Version: 19.2.4

Worked great 2 days agoDon’t know what you did but it no longer loads. Please fix whatever you did.Version: 19.2.4

This is bsI subscribed to rolling stone a while ago..every time I try to read it they want more $.....booooo!!!.Version: 2.4

I want my money back!Since last update app crashes whenever I try to navigate the magazine. Neither Rolling Stone nor Apple offers any solution...or refund!!.Version: 17.1

Don't do it !Don't waste your money. Last two issues font is to small to read..Version: 2.3

Smarten up!I can't access my subscription with the latest update. The reduction in font size from the previous update was too great and unnecessary..Version: 2.4

Doesn't work with iOS 8I had no issue with the app on iPad Air with iOS 7, but since I upgraded to iOS 8 I no longer have access to my magazines. I cannot download/open them. Please fix it..Version: 2.1

App is junk garbage piece of crap. It’s August 11 and still don’t have latest issue what gives?.Version: 19.2.4

Keeps sending popups to allow notifications!I turned OFF notifications because I dont want them, it wasn't an error. Now, every time I open the app, there is an annoying popup wanting me to turn on notifications, and even a link to take me to the settings! I’m almost to the point where I just cancel the subscription and delete the app..Version: 19.2.5

You simply don't care about your loyal readersEvery other magazine I subscribe to allows me to adjust the text size but Rolling Stone. You've shrunk the type so small it's unreadable. You have apparently done away with the interactive features that used to exist. And finally, to make matters worse, you require print subscribers to buy a digital subscription too to have digital access, unlike virtually every other magazine in existence. As a result of the deficiencies and your failure to address these concerns voiced by thousands of subscribers besides me, I will not renew either of these subscriptions until you address these concerns. Read the reviews on iTunes and you'll see I'm not alone. Despite many, many people raising similar concerns, you do nothing which leads to only one, inescapable conclusion: you simply do not care about your customers. So, count me among the many, recent former subscribers. Let me know when you start caring about the people that actually buy your product, and I'll consider another subscription. Sad part is, I really love the content, but that love is substantially outweighed by my hatred of your obvious disdain for your customers..Version: 2.4

No Way To Login - UselessI am a print & digital subscriber and am unable to access content or read articles. The digital subscription and this app are useless. Obviously there’s a huge disconnect between account subscriber management and the developers of this (cr)app. Don’t waste your time subscribing or downloading this..Version: 19.1.1

Font way too small!I need a magnifying glass to read it!.Version: 2.3

Wasted Money: App Does Not Work at all with Current iOS release on iPadRolling Stone Magazine app has not been updated in a year per App Store and does not work with current iOS release on iPad. When opening the app it shows a completely red screen with “Rolling Stone” printed in middle of screen and is otherwise completely frozen. Called Apple Tech Support after deleting and reloading app. They refunded my remaining app subscription and advised I purchase a new subscription to resolve the problem. Purchased a new subscription and same problem. If there is still a software development team working on this app out there somewhere can you please update it to work with current Apple iOS and iPad and notify subscribers when it is safe to purchase a subscription..Version: 19.2.4

Fraudulent AppApp does not work and Apple will charge you for subscription and then not refund your money when you find out the app does not work. Rolling Stone and Apple are scamming customers with this app..Version: 19.2.4

What rubbish is thisShameful organization, was once the wave, became a betrayal to American culture..Version: 1.1

Dead AppNice red screen. #1 Fix the App #2 Fix the App #3 Allow landscape rotation on iPad.Version: 19.2.4

Purchases goneWhere have my purchased issues gone? Please fix this issue asap. I had hoped to renew for another year but not if my issues go missing..Version: 2.4

Junk AppThis app is junk. First off it uses flash? Sorry guys, but for an entertainment magazine get in the know... There's a hot new device called an iPad! Second, the left margins are hide the text on the linked features and you're unable to read your article! No problem I thought, I'll just goto the help area of the app, but low and behold, the bottom of the scroll doesn't stay locked at the bottom so once you plug in all of your info you can't select the iPad check nor can you actually hit send. There are way better independent free music magazine apps out there with less tee shirt adds and more up to date content, so save your $20 and go buy so music! Cameron Crowe..Version: 1.1

Won’t loadOpen app to nothing but a frozen red screen. Is this the red screen of death? Going on for weeks, what’s up?.Version: 19.2.4

Dud.App opens with a red screen and stays that way. No response. Download again.. ditto. Over and over, same result… nothing. GARBAGE.Version: 19.2.4

Searching? It would be cool if you could search for articles..Version: 19.2

App CrashingEver since I paid $19.99 for a year subscription the app crashes. Won't ever open. Only crashes. Please fix. Would rate 5 star if I could open it. Oct. 20, 2013 - still crashing/won't download.Version: 1.2

New formatThis was a perfect app until the format changed with the December 31 issue. Now the print is too small to read without using the iPad zoom feature, which doesn't make for an ideal experience. Go back to the old format RS! If it ain't broke, don't fix it..Version: 2.4

A giant leap backwards for the magazineA few years ago you updated the magazine interface from what was basically pdfs of each page to a very usable interface. Articles again scrolled and the text was such that they could be easily read. You are back to what is basically a pdf of text so small it is unreadable. Requires you to expand portions of the page and then watch it float around while you try to read it. What happened???.Version: 19.0

Magazine Buried, UnusableThe app took a giant step backwards. The focus is now “online content,” and the magazine itself it buried on the last tab with no way to navigate through its table of contents — the only option now is an awkward scroll through every page. Worse, there is no way to save where you left off in an article, even if you just leave the app for a minute. Without the ability to get cozy with deep reads of the magazine, the app is just basically a website of tabs and links, but less elegantly usable than an actual website..Version: 19.1.1

App is not workingThe app stays frozen on the red opening screen and stays that way. It’s been like this for months..Version: 19.2.4

Not able to sign in and stay signed inI’ve done everything I know to sign in and stay signed in. If you’re lucky enough to find a sign in link, when reading a story, beware about leaving the app because the minute you leave the app they sign you out. And then you can’t sign back in..Version: 19.2.5

Doesn’t workSubscriber and can’t get app to work or refresh subscriptions. Unable To contact anyone at support for help either..Version: 19.1.1

Something's wrong with itI can't access the magazine I have an account and I know the password but it won't let me in to get my new issues big waste of 20$.Version: 2.1

WtfRather broken. Can't even exit out of the app? Wtf.Version: 2.1

No Landscape VersionMy iPad sits on a stand with a keyboard. There is not setting for landscape. So I have to tip my iPad sideways and awkwardly try and “enjoy” articles. It can’t be hard to offer this? What gives. It is a horrible iPad experience..Version: 19.2.4

Rolling Stone ConI’ve been a Rolling Stone subscriber for years, with both print and digital access. With this latest app update I lost all digital access. According to Rolling Stone customers service I have to pay for the digital content of this app even though I already pay for digital access through my print subscription. Rolling Stone is truly a reflection of today’s culture. One big con job..Version: 19.1

App issuesI love the RS app when it works. Right now I’m deleting it & adding it again. Red screen is all I get..Version: 19.2.4

Sorry to see you go RSCancelled my subscription. The only reason I subscribed to the IOS version is that it was an interactive version. If I wanted to read a PDF version that's too small to read on an iPad screen, I could just torrent it. If you come back, I'll come back. In the mean time, I'll read you on your website..Version: 2.4

Rolling Stone Magazine appThis is a frustrating app. It tells me it won't opeN because I need to free up space, but there is not much stuff on my iPad. So I am not sure what the solution is..Version: 1.1

Can’t loginUnable to login and magazine has been steadily getting too “woke” for us. What happened to articles about music, artists and art? Why do we need to know your stance on politics?! What used to be a great read about our favorite artists and their works, has now turned into agenda pushing. No thanks. This crap app just puts the cherry on top for canceling my subscription. I won’t be back..Version: 19.2.4

So disappointedAbsolutely worthless app. Delete reload. Nothing works. Just as well. Been reading RS since the early 70’s. Hardly a shadow of its former self. Gone so far downhill. Shameful..Version: 19.2.4

Why even have an app?Though I am a paying subscriber I have no way of logging in. This app is beyond pointless, it is maddening!.Version: 19.1.1

Now a terrible app.Now they fixed the size problem but all past issues are taken away! Plus when you re-open the app, it does not take you to where you were but starts with the cover shot again. I even had to re download the issue again. Signed up for one month only. Then I will delete the app altogether..Version: 2.4

Used to workNot sure why, but now the app will open to a page with no menu or options. It used to work fine. Update needed?? If this isn’t fixed, you should refund my subscription..Version: 19.2.4

Archived and Downloaded Magazines lost in New AppOpened the new app and I’m bombarded by every digital posting. Where are my archived and downloaded magazines now?.Version: 19.1

Keeps getting worseThis app gets continually worse. The ‘saved’ stories disappear after 24 hours, and now I only see the red load screen when I open the app. It’s been more than a week, and “tech support” only sends out automated messages with no help. I love the RS content, and it’s a shame that they can’t do their writers justice by letting people who pay for a subscription read any of it..Version: 19.2.4

Rolling stoneSame! App is glitchy. I can download 2 or 3 new issues then the app locks up and I'm unable to load any more issues. I then have to delete the app and re download it just to access my previous issues as well as new ones. It's too bad, the content and image quality of the issues is great. I love reading Rolling Stone but these performance issues for this app need to be resolved!.Version: 2.7

WTF - what the fontI need a magnifying glass to read it now..Version: 2.4

Can't get search to workI am a brand new subscriber and find the new content interesting, but I can't get the search feature to work..Version: 19.2.4

ErrorCan not load an issue. Error every time. Does this app not work in Asia?.Version: 1.1

Disappointing. No way to search archives.I got a Rolling Stone subscription to read older articles. I got the app to avoid some of the janky issues with the website. But there’s no easy way to find older articles with this app. It’s fine if you want to read the current content or you enjoy browsing year by year, but terrible for accessing some of the best historical music journalism of the last 60 years..Version: 19.2

So dissatisfied....I have been completely unable to access any issues since October 2018. I have tried restoring purchases, reinstalled the app, and have contacted the publisher several times. I really like this magazine, but I will have no choice but to cancel my subscription in March. Even then, I feel RS owes me a refund .....Version: 17.7

No landscape mode?Missing this key element, especially useful on iPad.Version: 19.2.4

Great content - lousy appYou need to restore constantly which may - may not work. Landscape mode poorly supported..Version: 2.6

Broken appThe app hasn’t worked for a couple months. Apple referred me to Rolling Stone customer service, which keeps telling me they’re escalating my complaint to the IT department and they’ll get back to me. Then — nothing. Disappointing. I’m a longtime Rolling Stone subscriber, and they’re better than this. Meanwhile, I had to install a pop-up blocker so I can read the web version of the magazine without the constant, annoying pop-up ads..Version: 19.2.4

Not workingJust a red screen. For 2 weeks. “Customer support” does not exist. Suggests “Apple support”, who could care less. Could read RS on the web if it wasn’t 90% auto play video ads even for paying subscribers..Version: 19.2.4

Can’t view articles without subscriptionUsed to enjoy this site.Version: 19.1.1

Nothing more than a PDF readerRolling Stone had a great app with an interactive iPad edition for a long time. Every story was formatted perfectly for the iPad screen with no zoom required. I really enjoyed reading it over the past couple years. With this latest edition, all you get is an exact copy of the print issue on a much smaller screen. This means you have to zoom in to read anything, which makes for a tiring (and annoying) reading experience. What's worse is that after re-downloading my previous favourite issues, I've discovered they've been replaced by versions in the new format..Version: 2.4

Horrible App!!!Great magazine but don’t bother subscribing. Using the app is a nightmare. After paying you cannot log in to the app to read the magazine. Better off reading everything for free..Version: 19.2.3

Purchases lostNot impressed...can't access two years of past purchases. Please fix.Version: 2.4

Why doesn’t the Search feature load??Just spins and spins. Dumb..Version: 19.2.4

App fails to loadApp launches but hangs on startup. Gives no indication of progress or any activity. Too bad because it used to be a good one..Version: 19.2.4

Now junk, change it back please! We use this app on our iPad, used to be really good but recently lost all of the interactive mobile-friendly features. Font size is unbearable! Seriously? Why go backwards? Was this a cost saving measure? Well it's a horrible mobile reading experience now. Likely won't renew..Version: 2.4

Newest version terribleFirst off, the last two issues were unreadable as they were formatted like the print edition instead of the old digital edition. The microscopic text couldn't even be enlarged. Though the text can now be enlarged in the latest fix, it's still formatted like the print edition instead of for an iPad, and you can no longer listen to music samples in the reviews and recommendations sections like you used to. The digital-formatted version of the past was so vastly superior I don't understand the change. Complete bunk. I've subscribed for years but will not renew..Version: 2.4

Utter crapI paid for the mag, downloaded the app and, 10 minutes later, was still staring at a red, cover screen. Apparently Jann Wenner wrote the program for this app, turning it into crap like everything else he touches..Version: 19.2.4

Very good but could be glitchyI love Rolling Stone magazine!! The only problem is this app could a glitchy sometimes..Version: 19.1.1

HorribleI pay for a digital subscription and this so called app only shows a red screen & logo. Nothing else!!.Version: 19.2.4

No way to log in?It seems that there is no way for print or digital subscribers to log in as there was with the previous version..Version: 19.0

Can't access subscriptionI paid for online subscription to this magazine . However the app is so poorly designed that I cannot download any editions. Something is definitely wrong with it as I have no problem with any of my other magazine apps..Version: 2.1

App does not workThe app just stays on a red screen and never "opens." Deleted and reinstalled multiple times. It's basically a scam - subscribe to a red screen!.Version: 19.2.4

Red Screen of DeathApp hangs at Red Screen and will not load - 2 months and counting with no apparent resolution..Version: 19.2.4

Keeps getting worseI'm a print subscriber who used to enjoy digital access as well. I could download the digital version before my print copy arrived. I could flip through & enjoy the interactive features until the print version arrived, though I preferred to read the articles in the actual magazine. After the most recent update, it took over a week to restore my previous purchases. And when I got them back, it was without any of the features I had enjoyed before. Adding to that, there's an issue that the app insists that I need to pay for even though I've been a continuous subscriber. I no longer get notification when there's a new issue available. Tonight I went to download the latest issue,it wanted me to pay for the issue. After signing out & signing back in, I had lost my entire library. Since restore purchases still doesn't work, I'm in the process of downloading each issue one at a time. Again. And to top it all off, when I do try to read the digital version, there's no way to save my place..Version: 2.4

Piece of crapLatest update won't let me download new issues. No support. No help..Version: 2.7

Don’t BotherRead online for free, or pay with this app..Version: 19.1.1

App doesn’t workThe app just doesn’t work.Version: 19.2.4

First-Rate Content, Miserable AppIt’s a shame, really. Rolling Stone was the perfect magazine to adopt the bells and whistles of a truly digital edition. You could put ears to the featured artist playlist without the hassle and legwork of seeking out each track yourself. The issue’s reviews were just a click away for your own consideration. Navigating the stories was always intuitive and enjoyable. It was quite possibly, in this writer’s opinion, the gold standard and the point of a periodical even offering a digital-only subscription. Enter the new and suddenly lack-luster Rolling Stone “App” — read: PDF clone-viewer. The once splendid and feature-rich digital edition now reduced to a shell of its former glory, no more usable than looking at a print copy through a window five feet away. You can still zoom, edging it arguably closer to the adjective legible. But should you decide to do so and then have the audacity to scroll through a multi-column article that way, be prepared to restart your enjoyment of that particular article by selecting it from the app’s main menu. Scrolling seems to be more difficult a task for the app to manage, crashing it often enough to reconsider your stance on the ease of digital subscriptions. I understand that publishers have to do what they have to do. But it’s a shame, really, to have learned what it felt like and seen what it looked like to thumb through a proper digital magazine..Version: 2.4
