Pacer Pedometer & Step Tracker for Negative User Reviews

Good but one annoying issueNice easy app to use but very frustrated that it keeps removing 200 steps off the total several times a day. It’s seems like it’s having sync issues with the Apple SE/Health app. If you are aware of a fix would love to get it sorted!.Version: 6.2.1

App is crashing on new updateApp keeps crashing and has removed itself from home screen. Cannot reinstall as I keep being prompted to update, which I've done. Keep getting error messages... have tried rebooting phone..Version: 3.7.7

DysfunctionalI have been a satisfied pacer user for quite a few years now, and an on & off premium member, but recently the app functional capacity is sporadic and since February, it has become unreliable as it does not factor in my miles and despite doing above daily 4+ minimum miles and 10,000, it sometimes that I have walked over 10,000 steps in less than a mile. This has impacted on my participation in the "explore world" activities and also the monthly steps, as it is just making up the numbers or not taking in the miles and steps that I have done. Since there are no customer contact details provided, I have to leave this less than satisfactory review with hope that the app developers will respond with appropriate action, which us to rectify the malfunction. Thank you.Version: 8.1.1

Only works if you agree to be slave to your phoneThis app refuses to work with fitness trackers and relies on your phone. That is very problematic for those of us who value privacy and for those who refuse to be tied to their phone at all times. Several friends and I added it so we could have a fitness accountability group, but since Pacer refuses to work with Garmin or Fitbit, we are all deleting the app..Version: 5.6.1

Losers!😉Pacer is great IF... You want or need to lose weight, track your steps and workouts as you go, get a personal coach to help you and connect to other health apps. However, if you need to gain weight, or try to set your goal to that, their “Coach” will tell you that Pacer is a walking, weight-loss program, and they can’t help you... then NEVER say another word to you!! I decided to stay, for the tracking and the community, but the coach doesn’t coach, several key features are “premium members only”, such as Calories Burned/Day. Even my own Activity and History Log is blocked from view. I loved the idea of personalized coaching, and would happily be Premium, if I could use ALL the features. The community is AWESOME; friendly and supportive and there are weekly and monthly Challenges to keep you motivated. Pacer also lets you set personal daily goals, and post your progress, frustrations and successes. Overall, a really good Fitness/ Walking App, to get fit and track workouts, or lose weight, but not especially helpful for those who are trying to gain weight..Version: 3.8.8

Pacer allows Romance ScammersThey have written in their policy documents for the app to not be misused.. and I have recently found Nigerian Romance scammers operating in here with multiple accounts. I am a paying customer and there are no extra features or advantages for me to prevent being targeted. At least put a step limit , where I can say “people with this daily average can follow me”in there for people trying to follow you or something!.Version: 3.9.2

Pacer App is Great for stepping!~There needs to be improvement on privacy and who follows you etc, there are to many anonymous people with fake names and fake profiles and no real pic, I would like to choose who can follow my post and who can not! Also, you should be able to delete your own account yourself if you ever need to for any reason like all the other apps allow you to do. We should not have to email pacer and beg for assistance in removal of our own account. I also think also people should only be allowed in only one group to be listed on their page, to many people jump in And out of groups all month long and mess up teams. And also they never remove their self when they join a new team, which again messed up things when the weekly stats come in. I also think there needs to be a daily step count limit shut off, for example people getting 70k plus daily ARE RIDING BIKES and cheating and it discourages the real people walking daily. That is humanly impossible! That is frustrating for the real walkers. I see this conversation a lot! Over all it is a good app but it needs some adjustments to keep making it better!!!! I hope you all read my suggestions thank you for your time! ~:).Version: 3.8.1

Highway Robbery - Beware of automatic billingDishonest to the core. You think you’re paying a steep price but at least it’s a “one time” fee (for what your phone can do for free). Turns out they hide automatic renewal deep in there somewhere - with no option for refund after they’ve charged you the following year (No Buyers Remorse capacity. It truly feels like Robbery to me). Stay away on principle..Version: 5.4.1

Mediocre at bestThe app works reasonably well as a community fitness app. The main issue is it only counts stops you take with your phone. I was trying to figure out how so sync with an activity tracker, since I don’t carry my phone for at least half of my daily activity. I found that pacer doesn’t think fitness trackers are reliable - therefore you can’t use the steps from them with the app. The statement from pacer said something along the lines of “everyone always has their phone in their pocket all day anyway.” As a woman, most of my clothing does not have pockets. My professional/work clothes don’t have pockets and my casual/yoga pants don’t have pockets. So I have to carry my phone in my hand, which I don’t do most of the day when I’m waking around taking care of things. My Fitbit will regularly read double the steps in the pacer app. Even if the Fitbit is less reliable for actual step tracking, it has to be closer to a reliable count since my phone isn’t with me for half of my steps. The way it is currently designed, this app is kind of useless to me..Version: 5.8.1

Needs more accuracyUpdate: It tells you 10,000 steps is your goal and ignorantly I followed when I should have looked it up in miles. Big mistake - I pushed myself to 7,000 steps one day and have lot of pain and swelling in left leg that has not gone away. It’s like a knot of veins that have formed. Painful to sleep. Must see doc. Basically - start slow. Don’t push it unless you’re super healthy. I’m 49, not obese but could lose 20 pounds. I should have not pushed to achieve 10K Syria - app should say what that translates to. Old review: I have been using it couple weeks now. My friend and I compete. So it’s been fun to track each other. However I just did a 2 mile Leslie Sansone video and it says I only did 1.3 miles. So who should I believe? -Also, it’s missing several of my workout days from activity history? Not cool man, I worked hard on those days. -Are the steps based on the height? I’m only 5’1, have to take more steps to reach certain goals so hopefully the standard step chart I’m using via internet is adjusted for this app measurement. Do you guys have your own chart based on people’s heights?.Version: 3.9.2

Inaccurate resultsWe have this so and whilst overseas, showed I did over 30k steps, yet when I look at month it shows for that date 23k steps. I took screen shot if the day. My husbands didn’t go back to zero and added a day to his streak and kept the steps from previous day. We have been doing this for 6 months, now I’m not sure we have done the steps this app shows??.Version: 8.7.2

Useless. This app had worked fine when I had an iPhone 5c, but when I upgraded to an iPhone 8 Plus, it does not live up to its expectations. Every time I open up the app, it sits there like it is loading but it is not, which in return causes me to close out of the app completely and start over. I have not been able to make it pass the Pacer screen, whenever I go to press returning user and hit the ‘continue with Facebook’ option it does the same thing again causing me to restart the app again. However, when I restart the app, it does not do a single thing to fix it. I am honestly very disappointed by how long I was using this app on my other phone with no problem verses using my newer version. If an IOS 11 is not capable of working with this version of Pacer then you should really put that in your capabilities section of your app. Otherwise, you will get bad reviews on this type of thing, fix this and I will give you five stars, if you do not then I will have no other choice but to delete this app on my phone and look elsewhere for another app that can meet my expectations..Version: 3.8.4

Inaccurate dataThe app is supposed to sync with my Fitbit and use the data to log progress through challenges. I have noticed significant discrepancies with data on this app and using my Fitbit account have confirmed there are major discrepancies, particularly with distances travelled during challenges, where the app has failed to include Fitbit data resulting in the app showing I have travelled far less distances than I actually have. I have tried to rectify this through manually inputting data via the app, but this also fails to be reflected within challenges..Version: 6.4.1

Bad and goodThis app when I first downloaded it looked cool and awesome. I thought I could lose s bit of weight and some other stuff. The workout videos and the step counting is really good but the coach thing got on my nerves. It signed me up for a weight lost thing and then it came up with 'you have to pay for this' That got on my flipping nerves cuz you can't just sign up for something and then have to pay. Then I realised I did my birthday wrong so I when into the settings to find a way to change it and you can't! I couldn't see a single button that could tell you that you could change your birthday. I wanted to created an account and because I did my birthday wrong it wouldn't let me! So frustrating! Don't download!.Version: 3.9.3

Clumsy and confusing interfaceI actually like this app! I’m trialing the premium version and I like how it looks and what it does HOWEVER I find it so confusing and hard to navigate. I spend way to long fumbling around looking for certain features. I still can’t work out how to find groups or join communities. I recorded a route yesterday and can’t find it anywhere. It took me ages to locate my exercise history and I find the way it’s logged quite unsatisfying. Coach with all your personal stats is tucked away somewhere and there’s no easy way to access yesterday’s info. Overall because of the awkward and frustrating navigational issues within the app I’m thinking I will cancel once the trial runs out. Such a shame because really it shouldn’t be hard to make something a little more user friendly and enjoyable to use. I like the front page with the pedometer, along with the live updates while walking and the advice on how many calories need to be burned to stay on track and that’s about it..Version: 5.10.2

Great but always dependent on self discipline of courseOnly as good as you commitment to it. Only thing I wish I could do is merge my watch pedometer and the pacer app it’s probably possible but I think my watch is a very cheap smart watch that it’s software probably can’t do it..Version: 7.3.2

DisappointingThe Pacer app records every step you take and with iOS you can’t turn it off. This means that you can’t count just the runs that you want to do to reach your goal, it just counts what you normally do anyway so the app gives little incentive to do more. I found I had finished the challenge before I’d run half the distance. And with no street view as other apps offer it’s pretty dull. None of this was revealed before I joined and the help line offered nothing useful. Pacer sent the medal well before I finished. It’s almost like they only wanted my money and my data. I’ve done 6 challenges with another company that had none of these problems..Version: 6.2.1

ITS OK FOR BEING FREEIt’s OK for free. BUT, many parts are progressively more annoying, the coach thing - just go away, I also can see it’s becoming LESS accurate with age I’ve run it along with three other apps and has proven to be so, in the last year it has been 168,000 steps out. The premium upgrade ads are becoming extremely annoying- I don’t want it, need it or want to see it. If there was anyway to remove, delete or just hide all the unnecessary crap that I don’t want would be great, but alas it’s just getting worse. A year ago I loved it, but now I’m beginning to despise it and probably hate it very soon. FFS stop pandering to the fitness freaks and time rich nerds and just have a simplified option. I’m just an ordinary 63 year old guy that runs 4-6 mile with my Husky everyday before going to work, I don’t need a coach, weight loss data, no BP data or any of the social media crap and connectivity nonsense- we just run..Version: 3.10.4

Used to be a great app but recent change to layout of weight graph is shockingRecent update seems to have changed the layout of the weight graph so that rather than showing a range from lower recorded data to higher, it now starts at 0kg. Which means that it suddenly appears as if someone’s weight is right at the top end of the chart even if that weight is underweight, and therefore giving the impression that weights all the way down to 0 are possible. I work as a nurse in an eating disorder inpatient unit and a few of patients use this app to log their activity and weight (which is not always helpful in the first place) but this recent change is massively inappropriate and misleading. Based on my own readings, I would be dead by midway down the graph. Please can this be fixed in the next update?! You have made a change that could be really harmful to the mental and physical health of many vulnerable people. And even as a ‘regular’ user, it makes me less inclined to carry on using the app as I used to use it to occasionally log my own weight to check I’m maintaining a healthy BMI, but now feel like this new version of the weight graph is suggesting I should lose weight (not the case in actuality)!.Version: 6.10.1

Not reliableIt starts off great until you start looking back at your data and realised another 30,000 steps that came from nowhere, calorie burn of 53 for 20,000 steps and you didn’t complete your goals because it didn’t update before midnight. It’s been a constant battle with their support to get things right and no action. Truly dissatisfied with the app. It was great to be motivated, earn a medal and feel accomplished, but I’m not doing it with false information. Look for another app if you want accuracy..Version: 6.6.2

UpdatingI used this add my step on my pacer but now I can’t? Why.Version: 3.9.2

Worst app everDoes everything but nothing.Version: 6.12.1

Great app....When it works.I’ve compared to apple watches for the total amount of steps per day. A friend had 10,000+ steps for the day with an Apple Watch and I only had a little over 3,000. We had been together ALL day and should have been within 25 steps of one another (that’s on the very high end). However, I just noted that if I had 3,000 steps according to Pacer, I had been pretty active that day. Plus, the live tracking for walking was great.....until it wasn’t. I walked over 2 miles 3 days in a row and each day my totals were 0.0 miles miles. I was walking the exact same route I have been walking for over two weeks! After walking two miles in 28 minutes and having the app say I walked NO where and burned 1 calorie, that is unacceptable. I emailed the help center and they told me I should look in my settings to make sure I had the location services turned on. Really? No kidding.... This isn’t the first time this has happened. Before, I simply deleted the app and downloaded again after a few hours. Though it worked last time, it isn’t now. You shouldn’t have to do that anyway. Deleting the app for good this time..Version: 3.9.7
