✓ A basic app that could be a lot betterFor what I paid for the app I think it’s over rated. I wanted a one off payment app rather than a subscription based costing app and I thought this would do the job. I needed it to be a time saver for when it’s my admin days and to help me keep track of my recipes and costs, but also invoices etc. I spent a good hour going through everything and I have to say this app is so basic and long winded, that I am disappointed. There isn't a help section on how to use the app for one. You have to manually input all of the ingredients and costs per gram or kg which is fine to a degree but sooo long winded. You only have the option of putting how much you want per hour in settings and that’s it. It doesn’t even incorporate that into your costs from what I could tell. When you get round to creating a recipe the ingredients list is a scroll barrel you have to scroll through the whole list if you want to add something such as olives or sugar … it will take you a while. The ability to jump to the ingredient or letter would be a great addition. You will also have to input your extras such as bake time, shop time, utilities etc and you will need to work these out for yourself. Maybe a guide to, would help? I expected more from the app, my mistake. I had previously used an app called cakeulater but it is no longer available by the original creators. I had hoped there was the option of inputting a % of profit and a break down of costs per unit and whole costs. Invoice option and client details, but no. I could go on more but I won’t. I hope the developers take on board the customer reviews and update their app to actually reflect its user base requirements. I am disappointed and so I couldn’t recommend to other users..Version: 2.3
✓ Helpful but time consumingI do love this app but I literally had to sit down all afternoon and add in all the literature needed to cost my cakes. But I think once the majority of your items are imputed for costing this app will be a wiz to use..Version: 1.5.1

✓ Needs a few updatesFantastic idea! Note to the makers though - not all countries work in pound, you should give options for currency. I know you are able to change the price of ingredients and the quantity of ingredients in the recipes, I think there should be an option to delete an ingredient or recipe all together. Otherwise it gets too cluttered with stuff that doesn't relate to the user. Until this happens, I won't be using this app..Version: 1.2

✓ Deleted all of my recipesI’d been using this app for a while and it seemed to be working well. I had accrued a lot of recipes and ingredients on the app as well as saved quotes. I came to retrieve a quote and found that it had deleted everything, to say I wasn’t happy is an understatement! Tried to contact them but no response !.Version: 2.3

✓ Cost A Cake ProFirst I'd like to point out that app support is quick, and I hope they work it out soon. This app is a great idea but needs some work still: -Needs to install the Apple keyboard, the one it has is a pain to work with because the capital key stays on like CAPS LOCK, it's only in English and there's no autocorrect. -It would be useful if it allowed other currencies. -Only works in portrait view. -Pantry list should be editable and allow more info, like brand, provider and date of purchase of ingredient or extras. That said, I'll wait until they fix it to keep on using it..Version: 1.0

✓ Better before the updateThis app has been down for some time while waiting for the update. The update didn’t transfer my previous details so I have had to do it all again, very time consuming. ✓ Quotes page not workingGreat app, however my quotes page has gone blank and when I go back to the main menu, the quotes show over the top of the menu, making it completely unusable, and I've had no response from support either! ✓ Has potentialJust brought this app and see that it will be useful. In terms of adding things that it does not have on the list you can add in as an extra. You are unable to edit the title of a recipe however which is very annoying as you have to edit out a new recipe with same ingredients instead of being able to simply edit the name of the receipt. ✓ FrustratingIt keeps on crashing and does update in middle of creating a quote. Now I have tried to create this one quote from late 3 hours but it just keeps on crashing. ✓ Needs a lot of workI've today had a response to my review, as follows; ''The free version is a different app - it is there to cost up OUR recipe in different tin sizes only. The Cost a Cake Pro app is designed for you to cost ANY cake or recipe that you wish to add from your own recipe collection. It is not designed to scale a recipe, but for you to store all your own recipes and work out the cost." This only seems to reiterate what I said in my original review? Doesn't explain why? As I said before the calculate the cost was the reason I paid for the pro edition, never thinking for a moment it wouldn't be available. I'll be honest I haven't used the app,since. Didn't address my other issues either...... I'm leaving my review as a three, out of goodwill........ Has potential, but I'm confused. I bought this after trying out the free version, which has `calculate the cost` which lets you choose from different size tins, then choose the recipe and calculates the recipe cost accordingly. I assumed that once you had added your own recipe you could use this facility (so that you can scale the price to match the tins, not have to put a different recipe in each time). I've only added a couple of recipes so far but can't see how you can do this in the full version? Why would you have something so useful in the free 0one (but not be able to add your own recipes), but not in the paid one, where you can add your own recipes? Also, letting you type away in the name and description box but only allow 30 characters is really annoying. As is the fact that you can't edit the name afterwards. I will continue to add a couple more things and see how I go but it's not what I thought so far......Version: 1.5.1
✓ Needs an updateThis app has the potential to be truly great, unfortunately the developers have given up on improvements, bug fixes and listening to their clients all of which would improve the app and make it much easier to use. Until some effort has been made to make improvements and fix some glaring and amateurish not to mention annoying errors in this app I would not recommend it to anyone. ✓ Pretty happy so farThis is a good and helpful App, but it would be 5 stars if only the developers added the ability for an iCloud sync across devices. Also, changing a recipe name does not stick. It allows you to go through the motions to change the name but immediately reverts back to the original name once you save the change..Version: 2.3

✓ Potential is there but needs a lot of workThis app has the potential to be a great tool, which is why I rated it 3 out of 5, but it needs a LOT of improvements. First of all, as it is now, it's not worth $3.99 and I feel like I was short changed, but past experience tells me good luck with trying to get a refund! The unit measurements are restricted, so if we need to measure something in units that isn't on your list, we're screwed! Which brings me to my next point...what the hell is "use name"? Another thing is that you can't play music from your iTunes if you have this app open. As soon as you open it, your tunes stop playing. So if you like to listen to music from your iTunes on the same device that you are costing a cake...well, you can't! And another point still, there's no grand total. If you are costing a cake, there should be a total of all the ingredients plus your time and delivery charges. In "My Quotes" you can't edit. It opens to a page that says "Edit Quote" but you can't edit at all. This app is just way too rigid and is frustrating to use more than anything. Advice: fix the app, and drop the price to $0.99. I did not get my money's worth and it's definitely NOT worth $3.99..Version: 1.5.1

Only certain types of measurements allowed for adding ingredients and recipes, so you have to calculate on your own before adding them in, which isn't always accurate. ✓ Ok app but lack of featuresIt's ok at what it does but I have a few issues with it. When you go to add an ingredient and want to cancel it and go back it won't let you, meaning you have no choice but to add it in then delete it later - this is annoying. You can only choose from the selected list of ingredients it provides and can't include new ones which I find really poor. It's not optimised for iPhone 5 either. I also don't like the fact that when you click on your recipe it won't give you the total, instead you can only see the total cost from the main recipe menu - this is also annoying. ✓ Pros and ConsPros: I love that you can add your own recipes and pantry items and then you’re able to make a quote from those lists. Cons: It doesn’t allow you to use teaspoons or tablespoons. I have to go to my browser to find correct amounts in percentages and grams. It also doesn’t have where you can use a partial recipe. I may not need an entire batch of buttercream for a quote. I would also love to see an option for editing titles of your recipes/quotes. I just updated to an iPhone 7 and I’m not able to use the app on ios11. ✓ Waste of moneyJust spent £4 on this and regretting it after first use. Feel very misled as this app calculates only cost of ingredients (& not many of those!). Contains only basic store cupboard ingredients such as flour, butter etc You can add others but I have no idea of the cost of such things as 1 banana or a jar of honey. ✓ NewbieI have literally just downloaded the app and haven't had a serious look at the functions yet but a couple of upgrades would be useful such as; 1. If you add an ingredient and want to go back you can't, you have to finish the process then delete it after. 2. Would be fab If you could scan the ingredients to save in your recipes/pantry rather than manual entry! Would save serious admin time. 3. Option to upload photos to recipes? For future reference or to keep with quotes. Will be back to review properly once I've had a real go at it..Version: 1.2
