✓ Long time player - disappointed with changesI’m a long time player, been playing since beta. Hearthstones a great game, I’ve had hours and hours of fun over the years I’ve played it. As a Warcraft player there’s an awful lot of nostalgia that comes with playing hearthstone. The animations, art and voice lines are also very good and as a mobile only player also come out great on mobile. I can’t give the game more than 3 stars as it’s got very expensive. Having spent a lot of money on the game over the years I have amassed a large collection of cards - I’ve moved to playing wild format recently as I cannot afford the £75 pre order bundle required to keep up having a reasonable win rate in standard (sure you can play basic cards but no one enjoys loosing 10+ games in a row). The changes to the gold / reward system has unfortunately left a bad taste. I used to log on, play a few games, maybe win a hand full and before I knew it in a few weeks I’d have a few hundred gold to spend on extra packs, I might also subsidise it with some real money so I could open a few more. Now I’m amassing very little with a similar play time - I doubt I’ll be able to afford to subsidise any future expansions with enough cards to catch up to relevancy and will fall further behind. ✓ A Fallen StarGraphically beautiful. Sound experience is superb. The game itself is fantastic... that being said once seasons began the rotation of cards was too quick to keep up without investing a fortune into the game. Sadly I’ve stopped playing. Pay to win. ✓ Runestones? More like Ruin stonesThe game is fun and I do enjoy it, however I’m going to be quitting. The app often crashes on my iPad during battlegrounds and that I could deal with but now runestones have made my gold almost useless. The AUD costs of runestones also isn’t good, in most cases the cash price is cheaper then the rune stone costs. I mean why make me pay cash for a currency that I can use to buy things in place of paying cash? I mean it’s just a cash payment with extra steps, but often with runestones left over. I feel like it’s a scam to rip me off. I liked using my gold to pay my battlegrounds pass but now with runestones it’s just another layer of pay to win. I can’t stand runestones and having a lot of the non cosmetic advantages of the game locked behind a paywall just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. I’m happy to buy cool cosmetic stuff but when you start impacting gameplay, yeah I’m not cool with that. I’ve been playing from launch and it’s a shame that blizzard just keeps adding on more ways to try to rob me. Don’t even get me started on the costs of things in Mercenaries. ✓ Crashes on startup - unplayableReturned to the game after a long hiatus as I used to enjoy the game a lot when it first came out. Downloaded onto brand new phone (XS max) with lates iOS but the game crashes within seconds of opening. I’ve tried installing multiple time and restarting the device. At one point it completely bricked my phone and I had to force a restart. After searching online, apparently it has been like this for a large portion of the fan base for about a year with no satisfactory way of fixing it. The support on their own website is abysmal, after going through the troubleshooting it links to apples support page. After working through this second list it then tells you to contact the app developer which is not possible! It either links you to the first troubleshooting list or to the forums where there are many unanswered or unsolved issues of this nature already, it’s like shouting into the void! If Blizzard can’t get this sorted with a 4 year old game I can understand why fans aren’t happy about Diablo being brought over into the mobile market!.QuibblegamerVersion: 12.2.27059

✓ Solo adventures AI problemsI love the game as it was easy to pick up and play. However, the solo adventure mode isn’t fair nor fun to play if you constantly lose because of RNG. Most loses were due to all RNG favourable to the AI. The AI at higher rounds also knows what card they’ll draw and knows how to plan ahead, while the player has no control of planning ahead as the cards are random making it troublesome at the extent of having no fun. I want this game to have fun, but the solo mode isn’t. The only way to make solo AI matches fair are to have the same random choices as the players do. Having a match at low games that the player doesn’t have good/decent cards to slow tilt in the players win rate. Currently I have beaten 67 campions in the new Rastakhan Rumble Solo Adventure and haven’t won once. This isn’t fair and nor should the AI you verse against..Lego jtlVersion: 13.0.28116

But know that pretty much everything else is geared towards paying for power and even pay walling previous features that were available to be earned. I’ll be playing a game and after awhile into it Bam dropped out so I start the app up and get reconnected then play a turn or two and Bam disconnected again and when I start it up again it’s too late game over which is very frustrating during the games I’m about to win... you can try and blame my internet provider or iPad but to be 100% honest I’m playing inside on my wifi with no one else using it full connection and my iPad doesn’t have any problems with any other apps just this one which is super annoying because I truly love this game and would be spending money if I wasn’t dropping out every game. ✓ SO OVER ITChange the dam quest line. IF YOU REMOVE WARRIORS Questline you'd still have a decent aggro deck in your hands. This is especially true in Wild where Cap'n Rokara merely adds to the power of the deck and allows a more long-term gameplans instead of "win before turn X or bust". I would probably change the questline itself here to require more Pirates (possibly 3+3+3) and consider also changing the first reward as it allows a consistent tutor effect for Ancharrr, which is often important for guaranteed Pirate refill. Removing one of the effect of The Juggernaut would be next in line if the deck was still too powerful, or possibly even making the three effects rotate instead of all happening every turn. IT HAS A 80-85% win RATE. Yet you do nothing at all. These quest lines where a big mistake they do nothing to the game where is all the enjoyment gone instead you have replaced it with a sense of frustration. Demon hunter I might as well sit back and watch them flip through there cards to complete there quest only for them to drop 3 taunts down that where reduced from 7 mana down to 0. ✓ It’s a great game with a pay to win feature.The game itself is amazing, I don’t think I have put as much time in any other mobile game as Hearthstone. But Blizzard puts every small thing behind paywall. If you just starting unless you willing to drop 300$ on it you not gonna have any fun in constructed. But if you constantly play and get your daily challenges done you can play without spending too much money on it. It’s the perfect side game while waiting for something or doing something that doesn’t require your full attention. As long as you only play casually, at higher ranks where you know the meta decks and you can tell what cards are in the enemies hand and what you should play around it really becomes a Rock Paper Scissors game. I enjoy hearthstone, for what it’s worth however hearthstone is not a card game, it’s a card simulation, BIG emphasis on simulation. From first glance you’d think this is a card game and like any card game the nature of probability reigns supreme but in hearthstone that’s not the case. After thousands of games you begin to notice a pattern. Your cards aren’t randomly selected, they’re grouped together based on alike variables. It’s the reason people have adapted to using duplicate cards rather than waiting for the probability of drawing a card. Another thing you’ll notice is that if you Emote you’re destined for failure. Do not emote unless you want the AI to take vengeance on profile for at least the next 4 games, by sabotaging your card selection. And or matchmaking you against cliche strategies, most commonly the priest or shaman. Lastly hearthstone needs to fix its cards instead of continuously making new decks with bigger and better powers that overpower the older cards from rare to legendary. ✓ Amazing game but slightly riggedThis game is so good and very addictive, I have spent thousands on this game over the years although I will agree you don’t need to pay to win I became legend with a basic free deck! I just kept spending because I like to have a competitive deck in each class to reduce repetitiveness. I will say however it seems as if hearthstone program the decks to play specific decks on purpose, if you have a card that’s slightly over powered and the odds are against you in the match up miraculously these cards never show up. In some instances they are usually the last card in your deck. This happens ALLOT! Sometimes you may go on a 7 loose streak against each of the decks you are vulnerable to. Certain classes play against certain competition. I rarely ever play against paladin as priest but then I switch to another class and all I play is Paladins. Hearthstone it would be nice if you just left it 100% random, please don’t control the match ups your holding people back on purpose to get them to spend because if your loosing games your more inclined to spend money. ✓ Love the game but it’s going down hillI’ve been playing this game since the second expansion and have always really enjoyed the game. Over the years it feels like the game has become pay to play and you can clearly see it with the current game. Also the amount of power creep is insane and is only getting worse and you can see this across all game modes. Battlegrounds when it first came out was amazing and is still a ton of fun to play but if you don’t get a couple of the right minions then you get steam rolled quickly. They need to bring back the gold option for buying the battlegrounds pass. Also speaking of gold, I rarely open packs these days. I save up to either buy the mini expansion set or when a new expansion comes out I’ll buy like 10-20 packs depending on how much gold I have. Also I’ve never been able to hit platinum since trying to put a competitive deck together is impossible since you can never collect enough of the right cards even when I disenchant other cards which leaves my other classes nonexistent. To end on a positive note, I absolutely love the single player dungeon runs. Play whichever current ‘broken’ deck is top tier - and it’s no coincidence these will invariably require you to craft specific cards. However, the first time I downloaded it it wouldn’t let me make an account, which is needed to play with friends and save my progress. When I finished filling out the account creation form, it asked for a security input, which I assume is one of those ‘I’m not a robot’ pictures where you type in what it says. I was unable to do this security input because it wouldn’t load the picture so I couldn’t see what it was. If you’re under 18 there is no security input, so I set it to my actual birthday hoping to go through a parent email to get my account activated. When I tried to do this, however, a dark red rectangle with an x in the upper left corner appeared when I clicked ‘create account’. I assume this box is meant to tell you what’s wrong, but nothing was wrong and the box was blank. I had filled out all the fields correctly. After this, I decided the game was taking up too much space on my phone, so I deleted it planning to reinstall it once I freed up some space. After I had more space, 2.8 GB to be exact, I redownloaded the game. After I downloaded it, I had 1.3 GB left on my phone, which shouldn’t be an issue for anything. When I opened the game, it said ‘Failed to get update. Please check your network connection.’ My WiFi works perfectly fine for everything else, so this should not be an issue. I will tell you why I disapprove of this game but please take it with a grain of salt. Any person can be disgruntled so your skepticism is well founded. However I am not happy with this word random. Anything can be calculated. Take for instance this creature that finds the perfect card for the situation you find yourself in. Games run in ones and zeroes and if you think like this you’ll find that no card draw, no hand, no opponent, no pack opening is actually random. It’s based in formula, one that’s based upon making a person whom plays for free a poor player from the standpoint that credit cards may give an edge where poor playing and decision making exist. This didn’t stop me, I found ways of using this to my advantage. I would play a card then concede so that I could play players that weren’t immediately advantaged by better cards. Then as I accumulated better cards I made decisions based on utility of cards and not random judgements. I wish I could say that I have really achieved anything, I only play one class because I don’t have the cards to be competitive in all classes. This has made the game very boring. The shakes really DO trigger or worsen their health problems, very serious problems include vomiting, headache, dizziness and more. However, as of the past month or so, the latest expansion, Descent of Dragons, has led to at least one crash per game, almost always when trying to play a card from hand. While the reconnect feature helps mitigate the consequences of crashes, the time it takes can lead to a turn skipped, which might cost you the entire game. This is especially frustrating in the ranked mode, where losing each match leads to a penalty. Losing matches is natural, as the variance from game to game makes it almost impossible to win every game, and can normally be attributed to decision made by either you or your opponent, but losing due to a bad client is incredibly off-putting in a game about strategy and decision making. If these crashes can be fixed soon, I absolutely recommend this game and the time it takes to learn the strategy and nuance of game is totally worth the initial confusion. If you have a friend who plays and is willing to help teach you, take them up. ✓ Duels mode needs to be balancedDuels need to be balanced. I enjoy the element of randomness but certain treasures make the game an unwinnable waste of time. I played against a Warlock who on turn 1 had a weapon which gives her a random mage spell EVERY TURN for the rest of the game. You have to limit the uses of this weapon for it to be manageable!… It’s game breaking, as unless you have a card which breaks a weapon (very unlikely in this mode), you are doomed. If you don’t have one particular card - that’s it, may as well leave the game. Or against a Warrior who dropped TWO 6/6 legendary minions on turn two (treasury minion which costs 3, coin, and a talent of duplication of legendary minions). He proceeded to drop massive double minions each turn which could not be removed by any non-broken desk. This game was done by turn 5. This is ridiculous. It’s not fun when it’s not a fair game. ✓ Was part of the beta team, played for five years, and now will never touch the game again.I feel bad for those that will never know what hearthstone used to be like. It was a great game that was not over complex and you did not have to pay to play. Sadly that has changed dramatically in the last couple of years and in 2020 I finally said enough is enough. One of the biggest problems with this game is there is too much luck involved. You can have all the skill in the world but if that rate card doesn’t start in your deck or pop out when it should you have no chance of winning. If you don’t have the latest card good luck in winning. It’s always blowing my mind how irrelevant older cards become with each expansion so then the question comes why even keep all the old cards. I could never will recommend this game to new players. You would have to spend an absolute fortune to even be able to build a deck that would be competitive enough to move five levels, then you would have to spend a fortune to build a second deck to move another five levels and so on and so on if you even have the chance of getting into a competitive level. Not only that you would have to play a minimum 5 to 10 games a day just to have a chance of breaking into the top 10 levels. ✓ Something changed with battlegroundsI used to play the main game function a lot but once battlegrounds came out I pretty much just play that. For the last couple months I have noticed an issue with it. Minions of playable factions in that round of battlegrounds are supposed to be plentiful if nobody is playing that faction, because there are a limited number of each minion per faction and if nobody buys from a faction then those minions stay in the pool to be used. Recently I have been playing and noticed that when I am the only one playing a faction, say elementals, there are almost no elementals to buy and use. Even though I am the only one buying them and using them, nobody else is playing that faction. If there is a set number and if they are supposed to be showing up more when nobody is buying them because they are sitting in the pool to be bought, then where are all the minions not being used in that faction???? Why are they not coming up to be bought and used??? How come 3-4 players can all play beasts and get super strong with all the same minions and yet when I am the only player playing elementals I get crapped on and can’t find any minions to use?? If this ever gets looked into and changed I’ll change my rating cause I love the game but it’s like every other battlegrounds round I play I will be the only one playing a faction and get crapped on even though I should be the strongest one around since nobody else is buying or looking for the minions that I am..Darkslayer3655Version: 27.0.181554

✓ Other comments deceivingLook I saw this game and thought wow that looks really fun and I read the reviews, now if your looking for a game where you can be on an even level with other players without first putting hundred of hours or hundreds of dollars, than this is definitely not that game. That being said the game was definitely more balanced and satisfying back in the day. You might get away with a couple of wins before the algorithm figures you out and then proceeds to pit you against decks that are your counter opposite the rest of the time. Making games long, frustrating and unable to get the wins needed to rank up or just simply to help get your hero to 500 to 1000 wins. In years past in wasn’t easy and nor should it be. But at least they made you feel that you were accomplishing something for your time invested. But now they want you team their game like a slot app or farmsville. Where you waste your time investing in something that doesn’t matter and doesn’t amount to anything in reality for hours. As they try to force you to buy the products they’re hocking in the hopes it’s the answer to helping you achieve your goals. This feels like “Ready Player One”. ✓ Once great game has not evolvedWhen Hearthstone first released it was exciting, fresh and pushing a new frontier for online CCGs. However, very little has changed and other games have not only caught up they have in many respects surpassed Hearthstone. The game plays well with few bugs like most Blizzard products. It’s addictive at least initially and new cards release fairly regularly. The biggest upside is that the game is easy to play and can be carried with you in your pocket. It’s not cheap but most decent CCGs are not these days. However, after so many years we are still stuck with the same basic game modes that revolve around 1v1 play. This makes the game very competitive and after only a few weeks of a new set everyone is running the same decks. There is also no consistent way to play with friends in a cooperative way. Hearthstones attempt at drafting ‘arena’ is extremely RNG based which takes away the strategic side of drafting modes. ✓ Love this game but mobile UI is WAY too smallI am on an iPhone 11 which has a fairly decent screen size. I pretty much exclusively play Battlegrounds which is my favorite mode. I play it on PC often but I figured I’d download the mobile version for when I’m on the go for work and have some downtime. The mobile version works just fine, but my problem with it is there is a TON of wasted screen space. On either side of the playfield there is a large border that is fine on PC but on mobile every tiny bit of screen space matters. I often end up in situations where I have some cards in my hand and I have no idea which card is which, and I waste several seconds of my turn just trying to see which card I’m about to select. Then, because the UI is so tiny, i oftentimes choose the wrong card and play it by accident because I’m trying not to waste too much of my timer. This ends with the wrong units being summoned, the wrong cards being chosen to buff or for effects, it’s just a mess and extremely frustrating because it’s easy to accidentally derail your whole strategy just because the tiny UI screws you over. If you truly don’t want to spend money on Hearthstone, you can grind enough xp to buy packs, and you can dust a lot of cards to craft a high tier deck to play competitively. It will take a long time, but it can be done. I would also add that the only part of Hearthstone being “free to play” that isn’t entirely accurate is with the Battlegrounds mode. Players who purchase the battle pass (with real money) get access to four characters and thus have a better chance to play a high tier character and a better chance to win. I have often seen players immediately quit out of a round of Battlegrounds right at the start because their choices were limited to characters who were more difficult to play. It is this pay wall that has kept me from buying the battle pass. Apart from that, this game has lots of content for multiplayer and solo campaigns. Blizzard has implemented a new system that gives you less packs. Since you can’t get the best cards you’ve going to be at the bottom of the leaderboard.
