✓ The first part of the game was the only fun partIn the beginning, the game is exactly as it was in the ad, where you custom build a feature, and every decision you make matter, you add spikes for defense, you can add various types movement body parts or mouths. I was so excited to try all of these things. But within 5 to 10 minutes of playing in this mode, they automatically evolve you and transition you to land, and the game turns into one of those typical builder games where you don’t get to make a lot of decisions and you just tap on things to progress through the game, and you get a bunch of rewards for the minimal amount of effort, which takes allchallenged awy. ✓ The illegitimate love child of Spore and Rise of KingdomsThis game is literally just spore evolution mechanics but make it RoK. It’s decently fun but definitely not designed to be F2P, with the whole summon system at the shrine. Also I didn’t know it was possible to oversexualize a spore creature but the devs managed that with the pink creature you save shortly after reaching land. ✓ False Ad, boring gameplay, terrible forced tutorialThe ad make the game look like a casual Spore clone, it is not. You get about 5 minutes of the gameplay shown in the ads and then you’re done. You don’t even get to just enjoy those five minutes because of the forced tutorial which is the kind that locks you out of playing the game while it makes all decisions for you and basically only lets you tap the screen to watch the game play itself. The game then “evolves” you into a land creature and then goes back to the forced tutorial making you watch the “game” play itself. I tried to give the game the benefit of the doubt but after close to an hour of being bored out of my mind suddenly the tutorial paused to allow me to “play” a Gatcha! ✓ Good but room for improvementI write this review as a hardcore fan of Spore. Played this game for about an hour for reference. I knew right away that the gameplay for the cell stage was nearly identical to the 2008 Spore game created by Maxis. Even the sound effects in cell stage were identical. But just like Spore, the cell stage is pretty cute and enduring. You can customize your cell anyway you like which is also a stable in Spore. However, after cell stage, the gameplay transforms into this is isometric defend the point game, along with gatcha mechanics to recruit new allies. While it is a huge plus to be able to continue to customize your creature, the “creature” stage has very linear progression compared to Spore’s open ended creature stage. Gameplay might appeal to some, but if you saw the ad and thought this would be a new spore game, you’re about…40% right. The charm and character designs are very similar to Spore, but gameplay after cell stage is not spore. If you like this game, you’ll definitely enjoy Spore. A game like this just made me wish that a polished Spore game had rose beyond the 2010’s. But I’m glad that this exist and that some people will enjoy it..Version: 70075

As soon as you progress past this point, it’s Clash-of-Clans build a city type game, of which I find incredibly unoriginal and boring. You’re soon tasked with building up your civilization in traditional GoW clone fashion to the point you have to fear them, the wallet whales. Basically, just like any other clone, you’re screwed. ✓ Spore but worseThe game is way too overbearing with the tutorial and it goes on for much too long. Forcing the player to be handheld through every single feature gets tiring and I couldn’t make it past chapter 4. I get it’s a game targeting kids but I don’t think there’s a child alive who is as stupid as this game thinks it’s players are. Almost every action is forced on the player and it’s incredibly boring. The characters, sound design, and dialogue scenes are painfully mediocre at best and cloying and incredibly irritating at worst. The creature designer is finicky and difficult to use with any sort of precision. Even doing something as simple as giving your creature a tail and putting something on the end takes an annoying amount of trial and error. The cell stage is rather fun, even if it’s just an incredibly paired down version of the cell stage from spore, and a lot of the design elements and all the creature parts are just directly ripped from that game. I played it for a bit and noticed the cell stage was just a copy of spores, but I also saw that the creature stage, while the creature maker was a copy and the bone thickness was also a copy of spore I realized it was mostly different otherwise. I am also really impressed with the animations and shaders in the animation, I thought that that looked amazing. Despite advertising a journey, you will find the game forces you into a very specific path that has next to no uniqueness of its own. This game has taken spore and removed everything that made it great. All gameplay elements, except for those which are directly stolen from spore, are easy, dull, and lack freedom of decision. None of the mechanics allow for course of action unique to the player, except for the character creation. Following the trend, the character creation, entirely stolen from spore, has also been botched. It is obvious that the developers put effort into animation and graphics. The target audience seems to be children who may not know any better. The thought of any reasoning for, and outcome of this is stomach curdling. After the first part your greeted with one of the longest and most boring tutorials I’ve ever seen in the mobile game. But, despite all that I love the great freedom this game gives however this is why I will only give this game a three star and not a four or five. I can over look the switching of the game to give the player more options and I can overlook a long tutorial but the customizable character was one of the most confusing things I’ve ever had to do in a video game. I wanted to do purely customize, my own creature, but I found it incredibly challenging to do so. And if I didn’t have a safe character I would have just a blob with eyes and a mouth. No matter what I did. I could not find a way to add legs or arms to my character. Maybe I just am not the brightest. But the way that if you give this amount of customization to your player base, it should be easy to use.
