Don’t waste your time or moneyCouldn’t connect to the doctor, who just kept saying hello. After the video chat disconnected, I was charged for the “visit.” I called back in and they sent off a request to have it resolved. They offered to transfer me to a doctor on the phone. I accepted and was given a diagnosis and prescription. Walgreens never got the prescription that the doctor told me would be there within an hour. I called in again, and they created another ticket and said it could be up to four hours to resolve. I did this because it is supposed to be convenient. It would have been less easier to go to a brick and mortar clinic. I tried the service because I’m out of town for business travel. Way to disappoint, Amwell..Version: 11.2.016

Amwell is a waste of time!I know what I have and how it needs treated. If I don’t treat, I end up worse off and sometimes in the hospital. Amwell provider would not listen, would not give antibiotics and what he wrote about me was a joke. Totally inaccurate. It would be so much easier to get my prescription online but this is simply a waste of valuable time and money. I will NOT do this again. If your so called doctors will not prescribe medicine you should say that up front so we know it is an information only call! Us poor people who do not abuse prescriptions are not being treated. The cost in the long run is more for insurance to pay and I am sick for months waiting for some “doctor” to listen or it gets to the point of turning into some that requires hospitalization. How is this helpful or right for patients?.Version: 12.0.621

DisappointedI signed up to schedule a therapy appointment for my child, I was able to schedule an appointment for the next day, however I was not seeing the appointment in my calendar. I received an email confirmation but still called to have them verify and they stated they didn’t see any appointments. They were able to schedule the appointment for me, I received an email confirmation but in the morning I checked and it was still not in the calendar on the app. I called and they advised they do not see any appointments had been scheduled and the next available therapist was a month out. This was extremely frustrating and I will be deleting this app. I will say that the representatives I spoke to were all very helpful and pleasant, but the app is horrible..Version: 12.17.003

Not GreatBoth times I’ve used this app I’ve had issues. The first time I signed up for a visit with a doctor and waited an hour to never receive a call. I called customer service and they said that the doctor must have logged off for the day or there was an error. The second doctor I got assigned to was very nice and helpful but it took over 2 hours for that to happen when it should have been 10 minutes or less according to the wait time I was originally given. The second time I used the app I signed up for a visit and was only on the phone for 30-60 seconds with the doctor because they advised they couldn’t treat me for the same issues if it was more than once in less than 6 months. Why was I not advised this when signing up for the visit when I specifically put the same issue I had been seen for through this app previously? So I get charged the visit fee for no service provided to me? I requested a refund through customer service and they said it may take a few days but also said if you don’t hear back in like a month contact us again. So it’s not sounding promising..Version: 12.13.003

Poor app design and healthcare providersWhile trying to signup for Amwell on my iPad, I guess we don’t UX test because I got stuck on the registration page and it kept throwing an error to accept the privacy policy conditions and there wasn’t one. Eventually I un-docked my iPad and flipped the orientation and then it was there but if you have your iPad in landscape - how this hasn’t been fixed by now is beyond me. Secondly, when I finally did get registered there’s only one provider in my area for what I’m looking for, and it’s pretty common. I went to research the provider online and they have less-than-favorable reviews everywhere. I thought that was one of the benefits of tele-health was to expand the reach of available providers, but there has to be more than one provider in my area. If not y’all need to hire some recruiters..Version: 12.17.003

1 no show, 2 cancellations, unacceptableLet’s pretend you’re in need of professional help but can’t get to see a same day doctor. That’s my situation, no thanks to this lousy experience trying to secure an appointment on AmWell. The app earns 3 strikes. I deducted 3 stars, assuming everything would have gone excellent had it worked. AmWell offers no explanation or specifics to me on why the 2cancellations or 1 no show. They just give a customer service number to reschedule. Perhaps it was unfortunate timing and luck but that shouldn’t matter. When AmWell offers a professional patient care service, three chances is enough to judge it by. My first doctor wasn’t online (or didn’t pay attention) and I waited 30 minutes before logging off with no consult. The next appointment cancelled the morning of, which at least allowed me time to find another slot for the same day. 10 mins before my third appointment I received a cancellation alert. This is akin to a Skype consultation and I can guess it would be ideal you need a care ASAP. Don’t get your hopes up, though. Any patient would get discouraged after three failed attempts to get help. Not a good start!.Version: 10.4.106

Tried all day to get an apptYes I know things are not normal with COVID-19. But I have literally been trying for 8 solid hours to get a visit. First selected the “call me” option. Three hours later I got a call that said “the provider declined your appt” and transferred me to customer service. I waited a few minutes and hung up. Tried again and the app randomly kicked me out at one point. No clue what happened but I was 7th in line and then I was out. Went back again, waited another two hours and was down to 5th in line and suddenly it hung there for over 1/2 an hour. This app is not well designed. It apparently puts you in line with a specific provider instead of just giving you first available. If that provider goes on break or leaves apparently you are out of luck?? Also you have to keep the app open which is incredibly annoying. Probably fine with low wait times if it’s a few minutes but definitely not when you are waiting for hours. So. Frustrating..Version: 12.0.627

Buggy and poor usability testingThe keyboard for everything in the app has no autocorrection. The video feed dropped out a couple times. No feature to add an appointment to your phone’s calendar. When it asked me if I wanted to share my Apple Health information with my physician, I said yes. It then hung for a while, spinning an indicator. My screen turned off. I went to unlock my phone, and all the progress I had made on my preappointment information disappeared. I went through this process 3 times before I got fed up and told it to not share my Apple Health info. I was almost late to my appointment because of that. Doctor on Demand is a better app in my opinion, but I appreciate the attempt at Apple Health integration. It feels futuristic. But man, they need to fix these bugs, and enable autocorrect for the keyboard. It’s infuriating..Version: 10.3.500

Could be betterJaime Martinez was the last Dr I saw and I don’t recommend him. He acted annoyed or bored during our visit and talked to me like I was clueless. I knew my daughter had an ear infection and have an otoscope I can use to check. I told him her ear was bright red inside but instead of asking me about her eardrum he asked me what her “tempranic membrane” looked like. I didn’t know that was the medical term for eardrum so I was confused about what he was asking and he basically dismissed what I said I had seen. I don’t feel like he made any effort to communicate effectively with me as a patient/layperson, he was not overly friendly or personable. Also, during our visit he appeared to be sitting in front of a window and I could see someone walk past during our appt. Not sure that’s following confidentiality requirements for working from home in the medical field..Version: 12.14.103

App good, not so much on providerThe app was fine, but the provider I got the app chose because I wanted to see the soonest doctor available. The doctor was kind of not the friendliest of people but I guess that’s ok, I don’t know what kind of day he was having. He had an accent and that was kind of hard for me to understand but maybe my American accent was hard for him to understand too. Anyway, I listed in the app I am allergic to penicillin. During the video chat he also asked me my allergies and I stated penicillin. He ended up prescribing me augmentin. When I called the pharmacy to see if they received the script she said yes but asked me if I told him my allergy. I said yes and she said well you can’t take augmentin, it’s a form of penicillin. She knew that but I wondered why he didn’t? There was no way for her to call him back so I had to contact Amwells customer service. About 4 hours later, after my pharmacy closed, an Amwell rep told me they could t get ahold of the doctor and offered for me to see him again for free or see another provider for free. Initially I chose another provider but later decided to email them and just ask them for a refund instead. I’m new to this tell doctor thing and it just kind of worried me to not know if what one of their providers are prescribing me is okay for me to take or not. The Amwell customer service reps were great though..Version: 12.0.409

Hold times are ridiculousWe requested an appointment at 8:30am. It said we’d receive a phone call. 2:30pm comes around and no phone call, although there aren’t that many patients waiting for an appointment. You can’t even try to request for another appointment because it just says that you are either in a call already or about to receive a call. So, I call their support line and wait 25 minutes before someone answers. Then she just sends me straight tech support and I wait another 10 minutes before someone answers. They can’t even do anything about it until they put a ticket in and then someone goes in to fix my issue. They couldn’t tell me how long this would take or if it would even be today. He tells me that most doctors are only accepting video calls so phone calls can take hours, yet, the app mentions absolutely nothing about it..Version: 12.0.701

Poor experience in app + poor medical assistanceThe application itself is very glitchy and buggy. There were multiple times the app crashed during setup. Once I did complete setup and attempted to connect with a provider online, I was told the provider I selected would contact me promptly. 15 minutes later there was no call and no record of the pending appointment anywhere on my account. There was no way to contact anyone or receive any kind of update. I attempted to set up another appointment in fear that I hadn’t properly set the original appointed - went through the entire process only to be told that my initial appointment was still pending, and I could not set up another appointment until the initial appointment completed. Another 15 minutes go by, and I finally get a call from a physician that was not the physician I selected. He then proceeded to tell me that he wasn’t authorized to prescribe antiviral treatments for Covid 19 because I was not high risk, even though that is not in alignment with the CDC’s most recent messaging. All in all, I spent hours and $80 to get told inaccurate information from a physician that was not the one I selected. While the $80 is the max you will pay, the app was unable to confirm my insurance carrier, so made me pay the full amount in full before I could see a physician. All in all - very poor experience and I will not use this app again..Version: 12.16.003

My husband will let me vent for freeI used this service to get a second opinion on some lab results because I felt like my primary care doctor was just dismissive of me. I uploaded my lab results to the app. All the doctor did was tell me to go back to my primary care and ask if maybe they would look at this or consider this. If that could be done or if I felt like my primary doctor was actually listening to me then I wouldn’t have used this service. It was like they were hesitant to actually say anything for certain and then told me to try and get a rx from my primary doctor. HELLO! Again if my primary doctor was actually listening to me then why would I be asking anyone else’s opinion. If he thought I could benefit from an rx why would he not write me one. Are they actual doctors or just nurses?.Version: 12.0.618

Scam don’t pay themI was charged, told they sent in a script for me several times after paying my $64 appt. They told me they called my local pharmacy and the pharmacy only answers the phone and voicemail between certain hours, 1 and again at 5 PM (not true). They stated they sent a paper fax over. All scripts are sent through an electronic fax now, my pharmacy told me, so they could not have sent a fax to any fax machine at their location via old fax style. My pharmacy stated no one leaves messages because they do not have a voicemail service, it rings to front of store which then continues ringing until answered during business hours. When I clicked on my own prescription to bring in within app, it disappeared instantly. This is a complete scam and way to take personal, and financial information. Take the app off of your phones!!! This is a waste of money, illegal at best, and stupid of me to have used.Version: 12.0.615

Completely Disappointed!I have been trying to speak to a doctor through Amwell since 7pm, and it is now after 11pm. I spoke to a Dr. Mia briefly, but I had tapped the wrong button when trying to make this appointment and she explained I needed to cancel the appointment, schedule it again and make sure I indicated that the patient was my daughter. I did this. She also told me if I rescheduled, she would be able to see me as soon as she could. But I was number 7 in the waiting room. I decided to wait it out for this doctor. Just as I was about to be seen by her, I was sent to a new doctor who hadn’t seen pictures of my daughter or her eye (which is probably pink eye). Meanwhile, my daughter fell asleep after crying herself to sleep. I’ll just go to the regular doctor tomorrow. This wasted my entire night..Version: 12.0.606

Never worked for meMy doctor’s office set up a virtual Appt. I downloaded the app on my phone. Apparently I was only supposed to use the link in the email and not download the app. When I tried to login thru the app, it said my email was already being used (I never used the app or website before). I tried to login thru the email link and it kept sending me into the app which I couldn’t login to. I tried to uninstall the app and use the email link but it kept trying to open the uninstalled app instead of just letting me open in the webpage. When I was finally able to get in through the app the video kept trying to connect but just timed out. Later my doctor said she could see me in the waiting room but I couldn’t see or hear her. She ended up just calling me on the good old reliable phone.Version: 12.0.806

The idea is great, but they have some kinks to work out.Cheap and fast internet health is a break through. However this isn’t the only option. Next time a doctor is no longer available for services, the patient should be notified. Instead I found out when I couldn’t get a refill of antidepressants, being forced to come off without tapering. Amwells customer service has no plan for that scenario, or their service department isn’t aware of it. While I noticed this isn’t particularly an ‘at fault’ issue. They were not able to help in something serious that had their name on it. Please fix this kink so no one else has to feel like admitting themselves to the hospital because communication wasn’t established and protocol wasn’t in place. Thanks..Version: 10.4.106

Won't let me message my therapistI've contacted customer service 3 times & they have not emailed me an answer or solution to message my therapist directly through Amwell. The 1st reply did not seem like they even read my question - they only emailed me how to start my appt with her when we met. I emailed again to ask HOW to message my therapist b/c I can't find her by search to get more options. The profile that pops up when I click on our appt time only gives me the option to cancel, but there is no way to message her directly. I'm very disappointed with them not reading my actual question & providing a solution! I also dislike that it isn't tailored to only therapists that accept my insurance! I almost booked an appt with a therapist that didn't accept my insurance. Luckily, I could cancel up to the last minute without having to pay a fee of any kind..Version: 12.12.006

SCAMMy boyfriend used this service because he had a skin issue that he needed an antibiotic for. He’s had this issue before and has received an antibiotic in the past. He figured since he already has a documented diagnosis, it would be easy and more cost effective to use this service and get the antibiotic prescribed. The dr spoke to him for a total of 5 minutes and told him he needed to go see Urgent Care. Okay but when he asked if he would still be charged the $69 even though the dr didn’t really do anything, the dr told him yes! So now we’re out $69 for a dr to tell him he needs to go to Urgent Care which is going to cost another $170??? What’s the point of even using this service. DON’T USE UNLESS YOU WANT TO PAY EXTRA AND JUST END UP GOING TO URGENT CARE ANYWAY. What horrible service this company provides. 5 minutes for $69. Disgusting!.Version: 11.1.030
