Editorial for Negative User Reviews

Good enoughThat’s it I wouldn’t be running to get this app. Good if you want seamless integration with dropbox, but hold up if you want to be able to save your files with your Pythonista projects. Nope you won’t be able to. So I’ll just go and use Pythonista for that, which should have a markdown viewer that would make that app even better. Your Pythonista app is great and does what it says. This app meh..Version: 1.3.4

Awesome App Except.......lack of support for anything other than Dropbox and local files. It might have made sense back in the day when every cloud provider had to be integrated separately. But nowadays iOS (iPadOS) support a central file repository which integrates with multiple cloud providers including Dropbox and local files. Why not support that?.Version: 1.3.4

Brilliant but near-abandonedHopefully Ole Zorn will have time to come back to Editorial at some point and update it, bringing it into the same class as Pythonista 3. I really think there’s a need for BOTH of these apps, and would happily pay for a new ‘Editorial 2’. As for this Editorial, it’s my favourite iOS text editor. Great automation features. Great Working Copy integration for working with git repos..Version: 1.3.3

This is a good app, but hasn’t been updated in over a year. This application is a fully featured text editor with many powerful workflow features. Unfortunately, it hasn’t seen an update in a long time. In particular, it hasn’t been updated for the iPhone X/XS/Max line of devices..Version: 1.3.3

Please add Box support!Great app with all the core capabilities and functionality I need, except the ability to link to Box and iCloud! Adding these features would make this a 5 star app!.Version: 1.3.3

2 years later, still no iPhone X support?Other reviews mentioned it, should have read those first. I think all it takes these days is the developer to click recompile in Xcode and it adds iPhone X support. Yet 2 years later, this app doesn’t support them?.Version: 1.3.3

Won't open documentsWill not open documents from Dropbox. Click, spinner shows, nothing happens..Version: 1.3.3

Only missing org-mode supportIf only it could read org-mode documents! This would then be probably the best way to create and edit org-mode documents. There are some workflow workarounds, but they are not quite the same as using it in the app would be. Otherwise, a great editor..Version: 1.3.3

No updates for a yearIt has been a year since the last update. Support for working with documents in iCloud is missing. It’s just too hard to integrate Editorial into my workflows because of it’s file management limitations. I’ve been a customer for a long time and I would love to see this app get some love from its developer. It’s a shame because the app does so much really well..Version: 1.3.3

Missing TextExpander support in iOS 7I've enjoyed using the app. Even though I had to start over at one point due to the app crashing every time I opened it. It still crashes on occasion. One thing I didn't notice within the documentation until too late was that TextExpander support disappeared after upgrading to iOS 7. I'm not interested in supporting two sets of snippets, whatever time I might save using the app's workflows quickly disappears once I start manually syncing snippets. I'll keep an eye on the apps updates and hopefully TextExpander support will return, but until then I'll find other options..Version: 1.0

No longer supportedI used this for several years and found it quite useful and reliable. I never used the Markdown capabilities. Lately however I found it no longer worked well with Dropbox. It would sometimes take five minutes to create a new file or open an existing one. I have switched to Note Master, which I’ve only used for a few days, but like much better. It’s worth the small cost for the full version..Version: 1.3.4

Never updated for iOS 8 / iPhone 6 - no git integrationThe app appears massive on iPhone 6/6+ which makes it not very useful to write on. While it looks like it was great while it was being maintained - it's seriously lacking from not having git / GitHub or Gitlab integration..Version: 1.1.1

Not being actively supportedI’ve used this app for years and really loved. It was extremely disappointing to buy an iPhone XS and realize the developer has not supported the newest displays. Moving on to another text editor..Version: 1.3.3

Great two years agoIt was great two years ago, but appears to have been abandoned... still not updated for iPhone X size..Version: 1.3.3

Dropbox sync doesnt work rightDropbox sync creates dozens of conflicted copies, even though I'm only editing my files with editorial. This is extremely confusing, and I've just lost some of my writing again because of that. Great app otherwise, but this issue makes it unusable, please fix it!.Version: 1.3.3

Cant be used with blue tooth keyboardGood editor but cant be used with a bluetooth keyboard rendering this app completely useless to me. The viewpoint always shifts downwards when typing so that I cant see what I am writing..Version: 1.3.3

IPhone X update pleaseThank you for this great app but it’s been quite a while and it would be nice to see an update for the screen size of iPhone X..Version: 1.3.3

Limited sync optionsNo iCloud sync?.Version: 1.3.3

Great app but needs to be updated for new resolutionsThe iPhone X has been out for more than a year and this app has still not been updated to support the new resolution. One has to wonder if this app has been abandoned or will be soon..Version: 1.3.3

Left to rotGood when it came out, but not updated in years.Version: 1.3.4

No iPhone X supportUsed to be the best text editor on iOS. No updates in over a year. Still doesn’t support resolutions of the iPhone X or XS/XR. No support for iCloud Drive. 😢.Version: 1.3.3

Should be better!I don’t use writing apps anymore since they pretty much all suck. This was one of the better ones. However, there’ve been no updates for more than half a year. It still has that stupid keyboard helper bar, which is absolutely a waste of space and screen clutter when I’m using a wireless keyboard, like any serious writer does..Version: 1.1.1

Once wonderful, now sadly neglectedSuch a bummer this has never been updated for the iPhone X and beyond. It remains a powerful app, one of the original killers..Version: 1.3.3

Dangerous appI used to enjoy using this app but I'm dropping it ASAP as it has wasted hours of my work and time. After writing in airplane mode I turned on the data connection and a syncing error appeared with just an Ok button. Seems that their solution for solving the sync issue was to delete all the files I have written while offline, with no way to recover them. Extremely frustrating. There's no way I'll be able to use it now without the constant fear of losing my work..Version: 1.3.1

No Files support?!Given how awesome omz’s Pythonista is, I had high hopes for this app. But the fact that it doesn’t allow one to open docs from the iOS Files area (Pythonista does) makes this app pretty much useless to me..Version: 1.3.3

Don't waste your time or money on this dog of an appSpent over a hour with this buggy and largely unusable text editor. Impossible to get back to file menu once doc is complete; top row of keys appears and disappears; slide finger to move cursor does not work unless top row is absent and no evident way to make that happen consistently. You can begin new doc at first but then next to impossible to start another doc or return to menu. Only thing that functions as it should is the share sheet. Sure the cost is cheap but you get what you pay for and in this case you get next to nothing. The positive reviewers for this app must either be shills or living in a fantasy world..Version: 1.3.3

So confusedI have read the tutorials. Guess I still don't know how it works. I'll be back and update later, probably.Version: 1.3.3

Developer Not Updating, No iPhone X SupportThe developer is MIA. It *was* the best plain text editor with Markdown and Dropbox support, but, given that the developer barely updates it once a year and doesn't reply to direct/private messages on Twitter asking when it will be updated to support the iPhone X, I think it's safe to say that the app has been abandoned at this point. I'd be happy to change this review if the developer updates the app once in a while, but I've moved on to another app. I don't love it as much as I loved Editorial, but I'd rather support another developer who is still improving his app than try to work with software that isn't getting the attention it needs..Version: 1.3.3

Dropbox BugsGood app, but its Dropbox sync is unreliable. I’ve twice lost work because of this. Contacted support (the first time) but the thread was dropped. Be very careful with this; make sure you have frequent backups..Version: 1.3.3

It’s good, but...It needs an update to support iOS 14. There is a weird paste dialogue every time I add text. Also there should be native support for the iCloud file structure. It’s seems really weird to use something like Dropbox when iOS and MacOS provide an easy to use structure. I don’t like having to use iTunes to transfer my files back-and-forth..Version: 1.3.4

Abandonware⚠️.Version: 1.3.3

Apparently abandoned (RIP)Until today, Editorial was in my Dock. Anything I wanted to write, Editorial was a matter of muscle memory. The last update was a year ago, the developer tweeted that maintaining the app was overwhelming him, and most of the support forum has been deleted. Now that iOS/iPadOS notifies the source and destination of pastes (version 14, nine months as I write), every tap, keystroke, and move to another app after you paste anything pops up the same notification. It's too bad. It's a loss..Version: 1.3.4

Don’t go with this oneThere’s a lot of other alternatives to this app, with better support and frequent updates. Shame. Editorial was good a few years ago. Nowadays it seems to be all but abandoned. Don’t charge money for apps you are not actively keeping updated..Version: 1.3.4

Great app but not updated for 2018 or 2019 size screenWould be 5 stars if the updates were more frequent.Version: 1.3.3

Powerful, but......disappointed to find there is no Files integration. Dropbox is not part of my workflow, so this app, unfortunately, won’t work for me..Version: 1.3.4

One of my most beloved iOS apps, now abandonedNot updated in two years, no response from developer === It's the text editor for writing I always wanted. The workflows are great. Now that it works with iPad Pro features, I could not be happier..Version: 1.3.3

Unreliable Dropbox syncAs others have pointed out, the Dropbox sync is unreliable, and when it fails the app doesn't keep a local copy. Lost a rather long draft of a document because of this. Why on earth does it not keep a locally copy? This issue has been there for a long time, for an app this expensive, that's pretty poor..Version: 1.2.1

Document lossLove the app and all it's functionality and workflows however I was connected to public wifi, but not logged in, and an entire meetings notes were lost and not saved locally in the app. I need to trust the basics before the great features can be appreciated I'm afraid..Version: 1.2.1

CrashAfter update when I trie to go into settings it crashes please fix.Version: 1.2

Sync with Dropbox other then default folder not workingSync issues and took forever to come out with a version for iPhone X and then sync is broken.Version: 1.3.4

No updates - was great appThis was a fantastic app, but sadly is no longer maintained. iCloud sync seems very unlikely to ever happen. So sad. The foundation and idea for this app was excellent. Still hoping for the developer to reconsider....Version: 1.3.4

Good app but has issuesI haven’t been able to use the snippets keyboard on iPad for months now..Version: 1.3.4

1 or 5 star? The best markdown/ taskpaper iOS app (I’ve tried so many) The good ——— Excellent and intuitive editor. workflows offer a lot of flexibility Shortcuts on iPhone are great Works well with multi markdown and most editing tasks The very best iOS taskpaper client Scriptable But ——- no access to the iCloud Drive No real updates. developer doesn’t seem to respond I hope it gets sold rather than abondoned..Version: 1.3.4

A good app but needs iCloud supportThis is a good app with a very nice editing experience. The file management side needs a little work though. It has Dropbox and on phone storage - no iCloud option. If it had iCloud support I would give it 5 stars - lack of iCloud support is something so major I have knocked 2 stars off..Version: 1.3.4

DisappointedText selection is buggy and doesn't behave like an app like Notes. Tapping "select" button often does nothing. Dragging the selection anchors to the left almost always swipes the right side pane into the view which is annoying. Dropbox support is buggy. Created and edited two large text files when I had no internet connection. When the connection returned the contents of both files was deleted. That's pretty much unforgivable..Version: 1.3.3

Cant rename foldersMissing basic functionality. Import from icloud would be a major plus. Renaming folders is basic basic basic And missing from Editorial.Version: 1.3.3

Does not do Fountain syntax highlightingIt puts scene headings in bold, but otherwise it doesn’t do any Fountain format syntax highlighting while editing..Version: 1.3.3

Lots of Potential...This app would be 5 stars if it had more integration. The option to send text from safari straight to the app is a big one for me personally as well as the others mentioned in previous reviews. Too bad it hasn't been updated in a while. Will have to look for alternatives..Version: 1.3.3
