✓ Delightful!Fun twist in puzzle solving with selecting the proper clues to fill in the rotating blanks! It did crash twice but with no loss of progress. A lot of fun. Hope to see a lot more like it in the future. And mad kudos on the musical arrangement and art work! Problem solving skills will get you a lot further in life than knowing Latin. ✓ If you like Ace Attorney, you'll like this!I guess the developer has moved on, as it's been two-plus years and no update. Or sequel. The game crashes like cray-cray (and when it does, the click-here-to-close on the error screen doesn't work but at least the autosave does). Still, it's worth playing once through. You might think as I did at the beginning that it's too simplistic (the few puzzles definitely are) and repetitive, but it really isn't. You need to dig deeper by utilizing the Case Files and the Map (and your noggin, of course). If you can (justify the cost to) deal with the multiple crashes, and you liked Ace Attorney, then you should have fun playing this..Version: 1.0.2
✓ Very CuteIt’s a very well done game. The characters are adorable and whimsical. Quick witted humor. It’s a detective game and while there is moving around and pointing and clicking, it’s not a traditional point and click adventure game if that’s what you’re looking for. It’s hard to know which direction you came from, and after a bit, I discovered there is a map that will take you anywhere you want to go so thanks for that. It’s a relatively short game and it may make you feel like you’re almost an outsider and the characters interact without you. They come up with their own pre-prepared dialog and most things they say are clues. There really aren’t any puzzles per say but everything advances the sleuthing. It’s a process of information and elimination and you might even consider it educational in practical thinking. This game would be more appealing to younger audiences. Again, what they’ve done here is done to perfection and it deserves the 5 stars I gave it, but I needed more head scratching adventuring..Version: 1.1

Some of the Phoenix Wright style mechanics are awkward, such as how when you have to Connect two different pieces of evidence with each other, you have to mix in sentence fragments to link them instead of just directly connecting A to B. I also got stuck near the end and had to look up the location of one hidden item so that I could finish the game. ✓ Another good mysteryI played Tangle Tower and downloaded this game as soon as I saw it. The art and style is a bit more bright and pops a bit more, with some parts of the interface more intuitive, or perhaps having played Tangle Tower I now knew at the start you could talk to witnesses/suspects about clues and other characters. The voice acting and story aren't quite as good as in Tangle Tower, which also had more potential motives and explanations as you learn about the house and its inhabitants. you move toward the final reveal. I also miss the banter between two detectives, and there is a character in this one that reminds me way too much of that child in The Secret of Kells and also serves mainly as a story accelerator. Finally, I prefer the map navigation of the first game. Overall, however, this is still a fun game and a recommended purchase. I hope they bring us another in the future, as long as they avoid shortcuts and invest in an engrossing story and good writing..Version: 1.1

✓ Amazing.I've been looking for good point-and-click games on iOS for a long time, and compared to masterpieces like Monkey Island, they almost always fall short. Detective Grimoire, however, comes pretty damn close. The art, the sound (!), the plot, and the dialogue are all top-notch. The gameplay mechanics are also great -- other than, well, pointing and clicking, there's also interesting puzzles and "thought process" sequences that I enjoyed. In true detective form, the ability to present clues and suspect profiles to different characters at different times was fun, and meant that I wasn't done talking to each character in one go. Some criticism: the puzzles were very short and easy. In future games, upgrading the length and difficulty of the puzzles would be appreciated. Also, in a game like this, it's common to complain about the length. Yes, I would like it to be longer (I finished it in one extended sitting). However, based on the quality and price, I think the playtime was fine. Overall, if you like point-and-click games, murder mysteries, detective stories, or you simply want something more than mindlessly crushing imaginary candy, DEFINITELY pick up this game. P.S. Who was that mysterious little girl? And why did Echo spend so much time in his tent? These are the questions that haunt me at night. :P.Version: 1.0.2

And I was able to deduce for myself who the killer was, even before reaching the sequence in the game where the clues start to come together. The game reminded me of Monkey Island or the Sam and Max adventures: humorous dialogs and great care in every detail. It is extremely easy to play the game on iOS (I played on an iPhone 5S). ✓ Step down from the firstI played the first one maybe 3 years ago? It was an amazing game. This wasn't bad, but I think it focused too much on being kid-friendly. That bothers me because a murder case is not supposed to be kid friendly. One of the best things about the first was its creepy factor. The whole scene had an aura of sadness, but the characters were all witty. I did not like the ending to this, nor the artwork. The characters were fun and unique, but again, it's like I was playing a kid's game, much unlike the first. It's realism was also turned way down. ✓ Honestly a ton of fun and funny humorDid I finish it in one evening? Yes. Did I love every second of it? Yeah! It’s fun, well animated, the character designs and personalities are all unique and cool (even the women!), and Grimoire is genuinely funny and smarmy. The story was well done- a goofy idea, really (who’s first suspect could be boggy, clearly the only truly innocent being here) but has these big hints towards a deep and kinda serious story about secret societies and monsters. They’ve got a great framework for a detective game that keeps it from ever getting tedious. Can’t wait to start Tangle Tower! Unfortunately though for this title, it crashed multiple times on my iPhone 7 running the latest version of iOS 13, most often upon tapping the question mark in the top right. It was also a little frustrating to find an item I was missing from outside the office, as it didn’t seem like there was much telegraphing it was there, and I felt that I had already searched it thoroughly. Also it ends kind of abruptly, though not as abruptly as the flash game, at least. There was some weird reluctant dialogue from Grimoire that didn’t make any sense to me. The story of the game is great and you really feel like you are in the game as a detective, searching clues in a swamp because of the murder. The thing that really surprised me and was the best feature of the game is that every character is fully voice acted and the people who did the voice acting did a good job. It made the experience way better. It is very rare for a mobile game to have voice acting! It really blew my mind! I also like that it there was also cutscenes too. One thing wrong with the game was that the game was too short. I had 100% completion in one play through and it was at least 2-3 hours. So, yeah an overall great game. ✓ Desperate for a Sequel!!!!This game is FANTASTIC. I love murder mysteries, but as someone who is easily upset by gore there's not a lot of mystery games out there for me. Detective Grimoire is the perfect balance of eerie, funny, spooky, and mysterious, and is absolutely addictive. The art is beautiful, the music is perfectly fitting, and the voice acting is absolutely PHENOMENAL--undeniably the best I've ever heard on any mobile game. The way you come to conclusions makes you feel like you're really truly solving the case yourself, unlike most games like this which holds your hand the whole time and guides you to a conclusion. The characters are realistic and three dimensional, the mini games are incredibly fun, and the story is ridiculously engrossing. ✓ Overall Great GameThere are some things I wish they would've added one of them being more puzzles I think there were only two "puzzles" in the game and they extremely easy. But the game was great without them and I wouldn't of felt like there was something lacking if they hadn't put any puzzles in at all. One of the most interesting point and click adventures I've played in a long time. The only criticism I have is that the game mechanics were a little bit tiring. ie. tapping on something that's already been dealt with while searching for further clues, and having to hear monologue over and over, requiring several taps in order to exit. Same goes for the notebook and clues. There is a teaser at the end hinting at more episodes, but the app came out on iOS in 2014 and there hasn't been anything since. ✓ A hidden treasureI was playing Tangle Tower recently on the Nintendo switch and fell in love with the game and its characters. The art style and gameplay being a match made in heaven for me. So I wondered if the wonderfully charming detective Grimoire had another game.......and then I stumbled across this beauty! Truly a magnificent game. I had to keep going so that I could unravel the story right to the end. The voice actors are perfectly placed and the animations are terrifically done. Such a treasure, I enjoyed every moment. ✓ Truly FascinatingI loved the games design with some pretty hilarious looking characters. The murder was totally solvable before the final chapter. I loved the cutscene at the end and the real truth about the swamp, Remington AND Boggy.
