✓ Little reviewOk. So I’ve downloaded Castaway. It seems very much like an older version of a similar name. There are a few differences so far but the mechanics seem to be the same. We’ll see how similar as I progress. So far, so good. No forcing you into buying things with real money - that is my pet hate on mobile phone games. It’s either free or it’s not but don’t go making a free game playable for 25% then start asking for things you can’t get without paying through the nose. The server seems to have been taken offline or is constantly down because game progress cannot be saved, therefore do not reinstall the game under any circumstances or you will lose your progress like I did..Version: 1.6

✓ Pretty funI really enjoy playing this game and I love the idea of finding blueprints for upgrades on the different tools, machines, etc. I also like the idea of exploration and advancing in the story. One of the things that I'd have to say is annoying is when you're given a task that can't be completed in the time allotted unless you use gems to speed up the process because paying money to get further in the game makes me less likely to play it. I just wish that either the player is given more opportunities to complete tasks without the hassle of having to do the quest twice just to have food already grown or that the gems are easier to obtain in the game.Version: 1.6

✓ OMG!!👏🏻👏🏻This is such a cool game! I've only nearly died once (oops) and the concept is great. I'm only up to the second chapter (yay) and already I'm hooked. It's not 👌🏻 but a few improvements and it'll be great! Okay, so it's kind of expensive to d of mission (50 pearls 😱) and I think it should be like 40 or 45 since sometimes it can be hard to get pearls. Second, the time you have to do certain missions is rather short it should be 4 or 5 minutes instead of just 3. Great game so far, needs a few updates just for other things (don't ask me what 😅) but yeah. Also, when it auto saves (great feature b.t.w. (By the way) 👍🏻) can you make it so the game doesn't stop. ✓ Fun and easy so farOk it's colourful and seems easy, fun and well thought out. I've had to purchase 2 inventory slots within 10 minutes of playing via the in-game gems you collect as you go up levels and am now out so potentially it may cause an issue if I find one more different item I need to pick up! I always respect a free game that doesn't need you to spend real currency and is just the developers showing what they're capable of or get paid via sponsorship but anything where you're coerced into spending real money to get anywhere I delete as spoils the fun. Early days (and he fact the fame has asked me to review so early makes me think now it will just get harder...) but good so far at least.Version: 1.6
✓ Great but maybe…Hi! I used to play the Island Castaway (parts 1 & 2) on my PC, so I absolutely LOVE that I can now play it on my iPhone. However, I do have some suggestions: it would be great if there were other ways to earn the emeralds, without having to spend money on them (such as exchanging pearls for them or watching ads to earn them). Also, maybe every level, you get other rewards, such as extra inventory slots? Just think that these things would make the game even better than it already is (also, if you happened to make iPhone version for the PC game “chocolatier” where you make chocolates but where you also get real world chocolate recipes, I would be absolutely over the freaking moon!) thanks!.Version: 1.7.700

✓ You don't have to buy gemsI keep reading where you have to buy to play. If you use the right strategies, purchases are not necessary. For example, the quest gives you two minutes to cook something. Since it tells you what the quest is before you acce. Love this game!pt it, simply look, cook, and accept quest only when the item is ready. Then accept, pick up the cooked item and take it to the right person. The same works if you need boar or hens. Simply shot them before accepting the quest, then pick up the meat. This does not work for fish, but have lots of worms ready. I have purchased some emeralds, but not a lot and I am on level 27.Version: 1.6

✓ For those with patienceIt is an acquired taste, but for my part, it is the second time I play this game as I got quite captivated by it a few years ago. I am glad I found it again. Slow development and atmospheric with plenty to do, a story with a much darker side than you expect. I thoroughly enjoy the gathering of elements, the very plausible characters, the unexpected plot. The story progresses smoothly, what you need to do is clearly explained. Just collect everything you can at first, until things start to make sense. It is a long story if you want to take the time to go into every details. No adverts to break the rhythm so far, I am just re-starting but it is just as I remember it..Version: 1.7.700

✓ Greatest game everIve always loved this game! Playing it again for the third time in like seven years. It’s really fun and not too hard to manage the quests. Doesn’t force u to watch ads or to buy gems in order to advance in the game. Is all in all a keeper. However I will say that it does tend to glitch at some parts. Especially when u get to the second island where it becomes impossible to play due to glitches. As for the meals, cook them completely, then begin the task, then put them in your inventory and it will count. This game is addicting! Only recommendations are you could add more ways to personalize the game by allowing players to make different choices and have different story outcomes rather than just one, and you could let players be able to choose if they're a boy or girl. ✓ As of now doesn’t force you to payI really love this game and, so far, I was not forced to spend a single gem(I currently have just unlocked the swamp). I know some people think some quests force you to use gems, but that is not true. For example, for the time limited cooking quests you should not start cooking after starting the quest, but start cooking first and then start the quest when the food is ready( do not collect it before starting the quest). The same goes for vegetables. When I have finished the game, I will write another review and tell other people if I needed to spend any money on the game in order to complete it, but so far I have not spent any money on this game..Version: 1.6.601

I completed almost every task without using emeralds, but now I am stuck because to upgrade farms you need to collect a large amount of resources that you can't carry without spending emeralds on adding inventory space. There is no way to get emeralds on demand so it's not fair to make it necessary to spend money to get emeralds to play the game. IN-GAME PURCHASES SHOULD BE OPTIONAL, NOT REQUIRED! ✓ Good gameIt’s a great game in a lot of ways but like all free mobile games it takes ages too complete tasks. One of the other things I’m not keen on is the fact that you will start a task after collecting all the items for meals but most of the tasks you are given after collecting items for recipes you are being taught you will then get a task to cook the meal for people and the time allowed is always shorter then the time given so with that in mind I’ve figured out the way too do it with out wasting pearls and that is by turning down the task to make the person the food go and start cooking it and wait until it has 3 minutes left too cook then start the tasks run and gather items like fruit to waste time and it also points towards the star level chart on the top left. If you where too purchase items too complete things faster the game then ends up costing you more then any console games on the market which I think is wrong and regulations should be brought in for mobile apps and the amount things are costing.Version: 1.7.700

I really enjoy this game too, but it is practically impossible to play without forking over real money. Inadequate storage, inadequate time to complete missions, inadequate space to plant vegetables for quests - pretty much everything requires emeralds (in-game currency.) To be fair, there are pearls that you can pick up on the shore, but they aren't used to buy the more important items. Try the game. Enjoy the game. The only problem in my opinion is that it could get a few improvements, like a choice to be A girl, some more animals on the first island, and I think that the timed tasks need to be less expensive. I love survival games but they all have something that makes them hard to do like a matching puzzle ( like were you have to have three or more same color thing in a row ) or have to wait a long time to complete a task, but this game has none of that kind of thing which I love. ✓ The game is great, but....I love the game! The way you can cook, you can explore the island, and also look for little objects and stuff. But...I feel like everyone is COMMANDING him to do things rather than asking. I understand why it’s designed like that, but I wish that during some of the chats with the NPC’s you could have a choice. Kind of like an interactive story, where some of the things you say (or do) can change the outcome of the story. That’s just my opinion, but other than that it’s a really REALLY great game! ✓ Fun game - few issuesI love this game. It's pretty easy at first and very fun. As you get a little further in it becomes a little less fun because you have to think too much about it. The "timed quests" you have to do cost pearls and then you have to used emeralds to speed up whatever it is you need to grow or cook because what your cooking takes longer than the amount of time you have to beat the quest. Super annoying! Sometimes you can logistically plan it but not always. I also am having trouble connecting to the G5 server a lot. I don't like that this app is a real time game either. I wish when I shut it down it kind of freezes the clock etc. the game is fun, the tasks are fun and I love wandering the island!.Version: 1.6

✓ Slight problem with adverts but amazing gameAbsolutely love the game and there are very rarely any adverts unlike most game now, but when there are the game does not pause, so multiple times I have lost energy, sometimes even causing Tom to “take a nap” when animals attack whilst the advert is open. For example I went in to a cave and picked up a mushroom straight away, then an advert opened meaning I couldn’t run away from the rats that were attacking. ✓ Great Game, Update PleaseLove this game! Gameplay is reasonably paced, ad-free, *highly* addictive, AND doesn’t include any “hidden object” or “matching game” side quests to further your progress. Even while you are waiting for items to be ready/available for one quest, you can be collecting/storing items for other quests. Unfortunately, the current levels max out at “Chapter 11: Predatory Lands,” (with the major tease of seeing “warehouses” and several other cloud enshrouded lands on the map). The only negative feedback I have for this game is that it seems G5 has given up on updating it as of 2-3 years ago. There are many fans of this game who have left similar reviews over the last several years, and I have yet to see a response from the developers. While it would be nice to hear news about whether we can expect an update or not, don’t let that deter you! This is definitely my favorite town-building/adventure/strategy game..Version: 1.6.601

I'm deep into the game, second island (or set of islands), level 48. But I got to a point nothing is changing, nothing going on, nothing moving except the animals & me. There is a constant message to enjoy the game & an update is coming soon. It has been saying that for over a month! Each day there is a task to cook certain things & collect others. Complete it in 24 hours & get 400 or 500 pearls, a bunch of the stars, maybe a couple of rubies. BIG DEAL!!!! I have over 100,000 pearls. I accidentally discovered a way to get a huge number of emeralds - free! So I have about 4,000 of those. But I discovered how to get them in just the past couple weeks. ✓ HELPCan someone PLEASE tell me how to kill the giant crab. No matter WHAT I do I can’t kill it. I’ve been trying and trying but it’s like every time I shoot it I lose 10 energy and the crabs life bar barely goes down. It’s so frustrating trying to kill this thing. losing all my energy, I have to go back and remake food which takes forever and then go back only to have the stupid crab attack me again. ✓ The IslandIt’s very hard to get started in this game because of the restrictions you have placed on most things. I can’t afford to buy diamonds to play and most all need them. All they seem to be doing is running around island and not getting any thing accomplished. I’ve got the fire started and the shanty made. Collected all the fruit it will allow me too. Kinda stuck now not knowing what to do next. As I was watching the ads for game it really looked like fun, but I can’t seem to go any further in game without buying diamonds.
