✓ The IslandBought the arrows special but didn’t have enough space in inventory so left them by a tree. Haven’t gotten to part to use it yet. They were gone when I went back into game. Annoying that they flash to tell friends at bottom of game all the time. I don’t do social media so I have no accounts except google. I have played numerous g5 games and enjoy them somewhat. All games are getting repetitive. Also keeps flashing to buy arrows special after I already purchased even though I lost them. I’m an avid book reader and think these games could do better within the storyline.Version: 1.6.601
✓ The islandForces you to buy gems a lot!! Otherwise it's not a bad game to pass the time. Personally I don't think it is worth spending real cash when they don't seem to give you any benefit for it... e.g. Updating the game regularly and bonuses for loyalty etc. I might persevere for a little while but my guess is that I'll pass once all my gems have gone since they are so few and far between!.Version: 1.6
✓ ObservationI like this new version however I don’t like the fact that I have to pay to get gems to complete a tasks and get nothing beneficial when it’s completed. I like the other version were it was free to play and only have to pay to get the full version. If there’s a way to stick with this version but go back to how the first version was were is was free to play and have fun rather than spending a fortune and end up not really enjoying or getting the full effect of the game. ✓ Great game but...Since the update that changed the quests to be time based, and unable to use stockpiled materials, it's become incredibly disjointed. I don't mind running around collecting stuff but when you have two quests back to back that require the same things you can't play them one after the other because of the time it takes for items to reappear. ✓ So far so goodI love the game, but have a a few things that need sorting. 1. The time between updates is years!! I finished the last chapter about a week after it came out and they haven’t bought out any new chapters in over 2 years, so you never get to finish the storyline. I only played it again because I saw there had been an update, however I’m disappointed that there is STILL no new update. 2. It costs far to much in emeralds to add extra slots to bag/warehouse. 3. 95% the quests in the newest update seemed to be timed which gets very frustrating having to wait hours for items to respawn, and the time given is never long enough. 4. I would much rather pay a one off fee than have the thousand ads that pop up and take time away from timed quests because you can’t close the add for about 10 seconds. Please sort this all out and bring out any future updates much sooner so people don't have to wait so long and can actually finish the storyline..Version: 1.6.601
✓ Progress deletedThis is the kind of game where you can only progress if you complete certain tasks. It's a nice game which will keep you going for a while. I've not had to buy any IAPs yet but I can see how buying them would make the game easier. So... That's the good news. Now the bad news. The game auto saves a fair amount which is another plus IF the save point doesn't corrupt. This is exactly what happened to my save point so I lost hours of progress. That's quite gutting. ✓ Good but things need changingReally addictive but when doing the challenges you are not given enough time i.e you are given 2mins to complete a task but something needs to cook for 8 mins. You can't cook this before as your already picked/cooked items don't count. To be able to complete the task you have to use gems which cost real money. More than likely it is. Will keep playing until then. OK. Have played the game. Impossible. Tasks cost 50 pearls to enter. Without purchasing them, virtually impossible to get that many without having to play for quite a while. This, however, depletes Tom’s energy level pretty quickly. Tasks are required to be completed in a short amount of time. Quite impossible to make something that takes 6 minutes when you are only given 5. You would have to use emeralds to speed up the process, but this costs actual money. I will agree with other reviews. Do not waste your time and money on this game. Not fun. G5, stop being so greedy. ✓ No updates for past 3 yearsOkay, so I got the game and was pretty interested. Love quests. However, you pretty much have to buy gems to play or you can’t beat many of the quests. I accidentally bought $100 worth of gems so there was no way I was quitting the game after that. Played the game until I left the island and ended up at another island. Then, I beat that level and the screen kept saying update coming soon, collect more supplies. Did some research and found the update has been in the works for over 3 years with nothing new, so I finally deleted the game. ✓ Fun game butI wish it was a pay once and play forever game. Greedy developers want you to buy gems in the game, some missions can't be completed without it. Not fun when you can't complete missions. I really enjoyed this game until it became clear it was unbeatable without gems. Would be happy to pay for a quality game like this but nickel and diming isn't fun. Have other things to spend money on. You should also be able to use items in storage for quests. Otherwise why have it? Some of the quests should allow more time as it takes forever to walk all the way around the map, you certainly can't do it in time for the quest. ✓ Great, but...A great game, much longer and more in depth than the previous two, but the timed quests and clearly gem orientation of the game is very annoying. All the tasks are just that much harder in an attempt to make players buy gems with real money to speed up the gameplay. This is very obvious and has taken the fun out of what was my favourite game. ✓ Bait and switchUPDATE THE GAME ALREADY! Been waiting for months for the “new update coming soon”. First 2 games were great. It seemed the tasks could be accomplished without using gems. This game, NOT! I agree with the other reviews. The further you get in the game, the tasks are impossible to complete without using gems. You can't use anything in storage which really defeats the purpose of storage. Need to change this. I paid for the games, so I should be able to play the game. But because I have a task that hasn't been completed, I can't. It doesn't seem right that I buy to play the game and the "terms" change, (hence the bait and switch). The ability to do the tasks should be reasonable. You have a little over 2 mins and to collect all before continuing the story. I think that by tweaking this game would keep people playing. ✓ The Island Castaway: Lost WorldSo this is the second time I've put a review on this page. If you can't see a first one, it's because it most likely got deleted. So like other players, I'm at the second island, and I'm trying to complete a timed task given by Karuka. A few items are needed to complete it including two datura bowls. One problem, the game programmers only gave us one. To complete the task, you would have to buy the second one. Don't know why they suddenly decided to force you to use emeralds to complete a task, but it certainly looks that way. Is there a reason? Possibly, but yet we face another problem, no one from G5, the game programmers, the admins on their FB page are responding at all. I've reach out to them, twice, but no one has reached out to me. I find that a bit unprofessional and extremely unacceptable! I was really into this game. Been recovering from knee surgery the whole summer and of all the games I've played, this one kept me the most entertained. Now sadly, I find myself being very disappointed. ✓ Stuck, no way to progressFirst off I'm on level 30, but can't do much of anything to go further. I figured out how to complete timed quests and have completed the first island to be stranded on a new island. There isn't much to do after defeating the rock monster. I've run around and gathered items needed to cook food and upgrade tools but what am I supposed to do now? I have over 4000 food points,every tool that is upgradable, have been upgraded. Now what? Have I reached the end of the playable game? Why even keep it? At this point it just uses up valuable memory space. I've resorted to just making arrows and kill everything just to get pearls. At this point I have had it with this game. G5 get it together this affects my decision whether to get any other games you produce..Version: 1.6
✓ Changing ratingThis game wants you to spend lots of emeralds (which costs real money) they give you constant timed quests that cost 50 pearls to start but don't give enough time to complete them so you end up having to pay yet another 50 pearls to restart the quest only way to complete them on time is to speed up what is needed which is unfair. I played first two games of series and enjoyed those but cannot enjoy this one different main characters would of been nice too sick of looking at devious Nick..Version: 1.6

✓ Gone are the days of pay once to play...Oh how I miss being able to go to a store, purchase boxed retail and play for 180 hours to complete a game. While I do understand the concept of paying payroll, and making money, the amount developers ask you to spend for "extras" is becoming obscene; this game is no different. The first two were very entertaining, and I'll likely go back and play them again... because I can do so without having to buy anything to progress! The storyline is engaging, but after spending almost $100 USD within the first two hours of play, I'm bordering on deleting the game. ✓ Wanna play? In-App purchases the whole way!I see the packs of jewels for $100 and think that no one would spend so much money on a game. Well, I'm assuming, you probably would if you ever wanted to finish this game. It's fun if you don't mind just working for the accomplishments that'll get you a few free jewels. If you kinda just want to tinker around and play one of those games that really never ends (I kind of enjoy those instead of ones you beat in a few hours)this might be fun. I'd say you probably have to at least throw down $5 if you want to get anywhere in the game. If not,don't bother. This is G5...they'll milk you for all you've got. ✓ Irritating featureThis is a great game, four stars or more rating, but one feature ruins it. I cannot get passed an area due to it saying "You must keep this item for a mission". ✓ Very disappointed!I loved the first two versions of the "island castaway" series. I'm so disappointed that this version requires ongoing payments to purchase "gems". I would've never even downloaded this version if I had known that. I was more than willing to pay a one-time purchase, the other two were definitely worth it. Sad. 😔 UPDATE: It just gets worse.... I actually REALLY tried this game (against my better judgement) only because I loved the first two versions so much. I spent well over $100 in the first week of playing......by the end, I was glad it was over. I have no problem paying for a game if it's worth it. This one is nothing but a money pit. The tasks are next to impossible without paying lots of $$$$. To those that are familiar with the 1st and 2nd versions, I BOUGHT a bow that I thought would kill boars, it doesn't. And the boars hunt you while you're on a quest, talking to whoever you're supposed to talk to. If this is the new G5, I won't ever download again. Thanks for the awesome 1 & 2 versions of this game. ✓ Awesome game, ridiculous amount of adsReally, really cool game, except there are a ridiculous amount of adverts that pop up every 5mins and completely disrupt gameplay. I achieved a goal, and because of the ad interrupting the game, the autosave hadn't stored my achieved goal, and i failed it. ✓ CastawayAt first it was a very 5 star rating. However, now it’s frustrating waiting for shells to pop up. It’s very slow going. I can only play for a few minutes a day. It would be more satisfying to get a little done before having to make food all the time to get his health up. His health drops too low too quickly. Good concept and great graphics. ✓ IssueI've played this game before on a separate device unconnected to this one; my iPhone. It works perfectly fine on my Kindle Fire, but it for some reason won't on this device. I've been able to download the app and watch the intro, but that's about it- after that, it brings me back to my home screen. I've tried redownloading, powering off my device, restarting my device, waiting, and I've retried just about 20 times all for the same outcome. ✓ Not a good systemThe start of the game and the premise was fun, but when you get to the tribe you have to pay for timed quests with your pearls, and if you complete making an item or gathering ingredients before starting the quest it’s worthless and you have to make more. This was especially frustrating when i wanted to gather an ingredient before starting the quest and it was the only one on the island. I don’t know why it was set up like this and it’s a stupid way to do it. ✓ Great game BUT....!Very charming and well put together game that requires planning, perseverance in an upbeat and interesting environment with nice story line. There are a couple of technical glitches, crashed twice etc. However. Have now been stalled on Chapter 11, half way through the story, and playing the 24hour quests for a few weeks till the 'New Update' eventuates. ✓ Stuck on the Other side of the WorldIt’s a fun game, but I think gems are gonna be a big part of it. Been trying to get a “ticweed” and it wants 2 but only 1 regenerates in the time allotted, so it’s a must buy. Can’t go forward until I finish this timed quest. I’ve noticed that most “quests” are usually shorter than regenerations, and you can’t use things you have in storage, so you must buy what extras you can’t pick up in time. And most things you “need” are usually pay with gems. I have at least 10 ticweed in my storage and can’t use any. And I have also noticed that “upgrading” your tools, doesn’t quite make them more efficient, energy levels are not noticeably affected. Been looking at the “delete game” option on my phone. ✓ Great game but one major issueThis is an amazing game. I was absolutely hooked for a few years and I got about halfway through beating it. The one issue is that one day I tried to play it, but it didn’t let me get past the loading screen, so I had to delete the app and restart all again. It just doesn’t feel the same when you know what’s going to happen. One more thing for new players is to save your gems, and only buy storage for your inventory, as at one point you will need lots of inventory space or you can’t complete the mission..Version: 1.7.700

✓ Great game with a Strong Sucker PUNCH!!!!!The only thing I have to say, is that I have bought the 1st and 2nd titles of this game before this version came out, and I totally love this version with the only objection in which the game developers practically force you to buy gems (the internal currency of the game) because almost all the missions cannot be accomplished unless you use a gem and all task have to be finished within the allotted time or they won't count, it will be better that a great reward or acquisition of an item that can't be found on your own is obtained when completing a task is obtained but you won't get anything if you don't finish in time you could still play the game but take more steps to reach the same goal, kind of play more or pay system instead of the play more and pay, and still get nothing; more over what is the point of having storage if the tasks don't let you use your stored items in addition if doing tasks don't let you use stored items WHY do I have to get more storage to acquire them, lastly if a task can't be accomplished why do you allow it to happen and why is the last piece of all blue prints for all the upgrades can only be obtained with gems and not through playing the game? Fix this please the game has enough potential to be great but you guys at G5 are turning this great title into common day version of a communist fascist society!.Version: 1.6

✓ Storyline is unacceptable.This game has so much going for it and could easily become addictive. Very unfortunately the storyline is seriously dodgy, I would even go so far as to say racist. It perpetuates cultural stereotypes. There is an openly bigoted character who deplores “Natives” (a term that should no longer be in use). The castaways lack diversity ie. they are all white (yes, some have ethnic surnames. Not adequate). This is not a product that I can in good conscience continue to use or recommend even. However the one thing that bothers me most is that they fill up your "quest" board with a TON of requests to promote the game on various social media sites and the App Store. ✓ Good game turned into a money grab.The most recent update of this game is an entire money grab. Previously you were able to spend in game regular currency (pearls) to upgrade storage and the timed tasks were easily doable. All items except potions were also available for only pearls. Now the storage is entirely insufficient and can only be expanded by premium currency (emeralds) at an alarmingly increasing rate. Most tasks (which all cost pearls) have to be failed at least once as the time given to complete the task is drastically insufficient as well as the item goals for the task being hidden until you begin the task. I had previously reviewed this game at a 3 as it was unplayably broken, but extremely, extremely fun. It is now playable but very tedious. The rate of consumption of premium currency is such that $20 wouldn’t really get you anywhere reasonably..Version: 1.6.601
✓ Old version was great but...I LOVED the older version where the in game stuff was completely free and the only thing you had to buy was access to the rest of the game, which was relatively cheap. I played that for ages. I went to download the game again and replay it but I was met with a nasty surprise. They incorporated gems?? What is this crap. I get they need to make money but this really, REALLY makes the game unfun and more grueling. I would’ve just rebought the access to the rest of the game, but I’m not wasting my money on Ingame currency. So far the game is still interesting in fun a bit but the gems really just throw me off and I hate the gem system, not the game. Game developers if you are reading this: Please remove the gems, but incorporate something that will be just as effective for earning money but allows the players to level up normally and actually play the game without having to pay. Of course for different chapters or to continue the game you can have a cost, but really I wouldn’t even bother buying gems if it were me, I’d play until it requires me to buy gems then I’d click the good ol’ delete because the audience target you have for this game can’t exactly buy gems whenever they need it just to expand their inventory. ✓ Fun but...Agree with most of reviews on having to spend $$$ on pearls and gems, all timed tasks so far require 50 pearl each to start and if you can't complete it on time you lose your 50 pearls and have to spend another 50 hard earned pearls to start again, some task are impossible to finish on time because the item required actually take more time to produce (grow vegetables, etc) I guess this is their money grabbing strategy! However I have figured that you can sell items that you pick up or make to obtain more pearls which is reasonable however for gems you will have to purchase with real money! You need 1 gem to get one more slot in your inventory and 2 for the second one, 4 for the third etc... unbelievably greedy! I am not going to spend a cent on the gem, I wish there was a way that pearls can be exchanged for gems! Otherwise I will be deleting the game once I am fed up with this!.Version: 1.6

✓ No support no help no instructions no nothingI sent a note to the developer because of the quests. I should say inability to complete tasks. For example: I have to complete a quest to give a villager a cooked fish dish in 5 mins. You cannot use items already in your bag. This task requires you to get several items because you can’t use existing items. So you run around to get the items only to see that they gave you 5mins to complete task BUT it takes 5mins just to cook the dish!!! ✓ Game has crashed and reset my progress twice!I was really enjoying this game, and had got a fair way through chapter 4. Then I tried to open the game and it first said it could not open, and then on the second try, it had reset my progress to the start of chapter 4. ✓ Demoted from 4 stars to 1!I’ve been playing this game for months now and originally awarded it 4 stars as I absolutely loved it. However I have gotten as far as I can in an unfinished game and some forums show the game has not been updated for around 5 years. A lot of the quests require resources that take time to regenerate, or have to be purchased from the in-game store with pearls and emeralds. ✓ G5 great at making good games badI have played and deleted many g5 games and it’s looks like this is heading the same way. The game is great nice simple easy tasks except for 1 huge flaw the timed mission and oh so many of them. Firstly there are to many of them to a point it almost stops playability. Second it actually cost you gems to do every timed mission Thirdly why is things you come across so easily normally suddenly become almost impossible to find in a timed mission. Example digging a hole gets you bait to go fishing. Timed mission dig 4 holes still no bait Forth it you don’t do timed mission you can’t progress in the game. I remember the first one where it was truly a sandbox game and very enjoyable to just run around, do tasks here in there, without being pulled into cooking something every two minutes. So the other reviewer‘s, there is a way to get around using emeralds to speed up the food, you usually see with the person wants before starting the task, so if you have to grow something, go ahead and grow it but just do not put it into your inventory. I really get that they had to try and make it more interesting to people would stay with the game, but it lost its original touch. ✓ Don't play unless you want to pay big bucksI would spend $5 to play a game like this but it is clear that one would need to pay a lot more to complete the tasks in this game. I'm only on chapter 2 and have reached a challenge that costs 5 emeralds to complete. They give you 5 minutes to complete a task that has to "cook" for 5 minutes making it impossible to complete without paying emeralds to speed up the process. You can win a limited number of emeralds - but it would be such a tedious process to do so and advance much of anywhere in the game that no one would ever play. I don't mind games that you can complete without using the fake currency or that take longer to complete without the fake currency - but any video game that essentially requires you to use the fake currency to progress is a scam. The first warning should be any video game that has a store option for $99 real currency to get in game currency. I wouldn't pay $99 for any video game but these games know how to hook people and take their cash. Developers need to make money - but they should do it honestly and upfront. Not by hooking people, making them invest in a game to go a little further and then requiring them to continue to invest to keep playing..Version: 1.6

✓ Excellent game...but...I absolutely loved this game. It became addictive. Online searches helped me kill the crab (lots of arrows and food; die then restore immediately to keep shooting with arrows), and all of the other creatures (always use the pink potion). I was excited to be able to accomplish everything and leave the island, and then excited to wind up on the next island. BUT... after restoring the railroad, the game stops. Just stops. With an “update coming soon.” Apparently this has been up for years. As long as you are ok with simply playing on the first island, this is a great task-oriented game. I do recommend taking some days to just store food (crab salad was great bc you don’t have to grow anything), make arrows, and make a couple of each potion. Then the rest of the tasks are easy. Also - don’t worry - when you leave the island, your stored stuff will magically appear on the next island. So sad it doesn’t continue. They had a great idea..Version: 1.6.601
✓ Story style gameI'm only in level 14 but so far I enjoy the game. Some of the artwork is anime style, I wish more of it was. On the downside it is very difficult to accomplish some quests without spending emeralds. I don't think the game makers are being fair on some of the quests. I had one quest which it takes a minimum of 13 minutes to complete & they only allow 6 minutes which is extremely unfair (if these are glitches please fix). Also, they do not give enough planting plots & esp. inventory slots at the start of the game & they have to be bought with emeralds which are given rarely & few. I feel the inventory slots are way overpriced. They need a FAQ section with tutorial for the game as most tools & quests have to be done in a certain order or you will not have access to some of the items needed in a lot of the quests. This is extremely frustrating as game will let you accept a quest although you may not have access to some of the required items for quite a while..Version: 1.6

Otherwise, a very pleasant little time waster. I’ve played it before until it came to a sudden end. Now I’ve started all over again hoping to go further. But the game still terminates at the same point, with the same message “An update is coming soon “. After 4 years of inactivity it’s unlikely ever to be completed in my opinion.
