✓ Always crashes. Very frustrating.I use to love this app. I have had a paid subscription for a couple of years now, and I have come to greatly depend on it for my kids’ allowance and tracking chores. The problem is that it is constantly crashing. Updates are never stable. To top this all off, customer support has not desponded to a single one of my emails. Would be 5 stars if it did not always crash..Version: 4.5
✓ Good ideas, constant annoying bugsThis app is so weird about ordering and timing of when jobs or responsibilities are completed. My kids have jobs they do every day or several days a week. I would say 90% of the time we try to mark a job as done, we get a pop-up saying "Uh oh, you are doing this out of order. This might mess up the allowance calculations", or a different pop up that says "Item does not exist." These pop ups happen even when we doing everything the way it wants: marking done before the deadline, and on the same day. But even if I was not on the "correct" day, why can't I go back to yesterday to say the job was done? Why is that even an issue? App developers... all your pop up error messages are developers' problems, not the users' problems. Fix your problems, and stop getting in the way with these pop ups..Version: 3.36
✓ Great concept, not so great execution. . .Really wanted to love this app. Liked the concept so much that was willing to pay for subscription even though I don’t need banking integration. Couldn’t deal with bugs though. Every time I added a new job or responsibility, the app would hang and I would need to remove it from memory and then restart it. Often chore packs would not show up when trying to assign a new chore. Also design for user to interact with chore packs was just too cumbersome. This app is really such a great idea and nice UI, but the user experience feels like its a step above a beta release. As a disclaimer I was using the app primarily on an iPad running the latest version of iOS, but it has to work on an iPad just as well as on my iPhone because my family members would be using the app on a variety of devices. ✓ Has all the features I want…. If only they workedI want to love this app. In theory, I should be able to connect my own bank account, connect my children’s bank accounts, and then transfer money to their accounts after they earn money from doing chores. I have tried to connect multiple bank accounts, only to get an error every time (“no nodes exist”). I’ve contacted support, but based on other reviews, I doubt I’ll get an answer. Unfortunately, they now have access to my bank accounts and passwords. Time to change them. I think this may be a scam. ✓ Neat features but too many problemsI am using the free version and it doesn’t appear ready for prime time. Share menu button crashes app every time. It allowed me to create a savings jar for one child, but each time I add money, it goes back to 0. No error message or other notification. It would not let me create a jar for a second child. Fill out the entries in the menu, but the “create” button fails...again with no notification or instructions. It also has an unexplained “expiration time” entry that always stays blank. Overall just unusable in current state. It’s too bad because the feature set is pretty cool. I like the chores based allowance plus jobs for extra. I would also like a points option. ✓ Server error all the timeIf you want to have an app that will give you server error 98% of the time, THIS APP IS FOR YOU. It’s nice and all but man... out of 10 times opening this app and trying to do something that requires their server, it will crash/server error 9 times. Holy!!! I had to update this review. ✓ Feeling deceivedI used this app with the free trial and decided I would go ahead and keep it after the trial. Keep in mind that the developer said in previous reviews that the monthly fee was to provide the ability to link to your bank account. I would be happy to pay the fee, if only my bank was one of the very few banks that are supported with this app. Now I feel like I’m paying full price for this app without getting all of the features. I would suggest adding a whole lot more financial institutions to your list or offer an option for someone to pay a onetime fee to use all of the other features. ✓ Hard to use. Free version limitsI wanted something to keep track of my kids money for them. I have four kids and the app only allows 3 family members in the free version. Only 1 “jar” per member in the free version. Setting it up was a chore. It seemed like everything I tapped would have 2-5 screens telling you what you can do with the app when all I wanted to do was test the functionality. I set up one kid and the button to finalize it didn’t work so I got out and tried it again and then it set up two of the same account. When I tried to delete the duplicate, it just spins for a minute and doesn’t delete the account. I am pretty good at figuring things out so if it is due to user error, then the app is very unintuitive..Version: 3.46

✓ Great app, but...This app is an awesome, helpful concept, however it is more difficult to organize without a calendar feature where you can see all the assigned chores visually. Having a calendar feature is crucial to the efficiency of this app, and the main reason I haven’t been using is regularly for my household, is because I find it difficult to organize chores evenly. ✓ Pretty goodI like being able to enter in my chores and assigning who does the chore. I’m entering the chore list I have encountered some issues. First, if I change the due date then the recurrence, it changes back the due date. It get very frustrating trying to set something to have it keep resetting. Second, when I filter by date it has the chores by week which I love, however it sorts them wrong. If something is due oct 2, it places it in the oct 8-14 week, which is the complete wrong week. Third I wish each chore had the option to check it off, not just the ones due today. If I do a chore early I have to go in and select the options button and then mark as completed. Finally a calendar view would be nice to see a what is happening each day. It helps me to make sure I am putting chores on the correct day.Version: 5.3
✓ App reliability is a dealbreakerI just discovered this app today and was about to force you to take my money... but unfortunately, although it is a FAB concept, the apps are unreliable. On my iPhone SE, the tips can’t be read, because the “next” button is in the middle of the text. It hung when trying to add my husband to the app, but when I restarted it, it had added him 3 times. I decided to try it on my iPad, because I *really really* wanted to love this app. Womp Womp. Couldn’t add my daughter; it refused to let me access the fields for birthdate and role. ✓ Two bugs right off the batCreated initial account on the iPad. When adding second (child) account, the birthday field was unresponsive and wouldn’t bring up the date selector, which is required to create the account. Restarted app, still wouldn’t work. Tried on another new iPad Pro, latest iPad OS. Still didn’t wirk. Installed on iPhone, was able to create the second account because the date selector actually worked. Seems like a bug on the iPad version. Second bug: after an endless click path to acknowledge what the account can do, I tried to switch back to primary (parent account). It prompts and accepts the password, but doesn’t switch accounts. Restarted app, and it showed the account had switched. To see if this would happen again, I tapped to switch to the child account. But it didn’t. I had to restart for the account switch to take effect. I repeated this on the iPads, same problem. Hitting these two bugs immediately on first use instills ZERO trust that these developers can reliably process electronic fund’s transactions within the app. And they charge for that extra functionality. ✓ Disappointing - please read before investing your time and moneyI had high hopes for this app to streamline our hectic summer. Purchased the $50 paid version and set up to manage our 3 kids responsibilities along with additional ways to support our family with paid chores. First week of June downloaded to all phones and 1 iPad to discover the app didn’t work on 2 of 4 devices. Reached out to the company and they believed bug on their end due to the older (smaller) screens on my 2 kids phones. Two iPhone 14 trade ins, and 2 emails - with no response or update from customer service - and nearly two months later the same problem persists making the app unusable on 2 of 3 kids phones. They can screenshot what chores they do for me to enter manual which became way too tedious and has really stopped being helpful for functional. I will be reaching out for a refund and finding another app. Super disappointed because this app was the best fit for our family and I was so thankful to have found it after tons of research and time customizing the app..Version: 5.3

✓ Takes a while to setup and server errors don’t allow completion of choresWe have been at this for over a month and while the idea is great, the setup is very time consuming and the server errors every other day are frustrating for both myself and my kids. They cannot complete their chores and take pictures and it is hard for me to remember at the end of the week what day was a server error day and what day was a day they just didn’t complete their chores. ✓ Buggy, with no supportWith a family of eight, I wanted this app to work for us very badly. It seemed to have all the sophisticated tools needed to manage a large blended group of kids with different schedules and ages. On top of that, it promised to have ties to allowance and banking interoperability! (useful for teens) But sadly, the reality is that the app is plagued with important bugs: - The banking feature is completely broken. It gives server errors at the end of lengthy form-based onboarding (Why not simply use an integration with Plaid?) - The account switching is also broken, keeping several accounts logged-in instead of closing one and opening another. You have to perform a hard reset every time. - Task and Profile Gallery buttons do not work on iPad. - Little bugs pop often (i.e. trying to search photos with two filters selects a photo randomly, etc.) … and worse yet, their support ignores my emails. Is anyone there listening to customers complaints? Seems like they all checked-out and left a really good idea half-baked. Quite a pity, because the concept is far better than alternatives at the App Store. I hope they fix issues above so I can change my rating..Version: 5.1
✓ PriceyI think the idea is good, but it is very pricey. I read that the price point has to do with the bank feature. Why then are they charging for features like chore approval, etc? Seems they could isolate the charge solely for folks who choose to connect bank accounts. We are already happily set up on a banking app for our teen and don’t feel the need to utilize that feature. I’m also frustrated that I’ve tried several times to create my own packs, but they never show up later. I don’t want to have to input the same job each time I assign it (for jobs that don’t recur on a regular schedule). ✓ Great app and concept, but only works half the timeI have enjoyed this app, though there are portions of it that are confusing and I haven’t exactly figured out how to navigate. But the main issue I have is that multiple times a week the app won’t let my kids log their chores. So then they get frustrated and ask me to put it in for them so they can get paid. And that’s annoying. It makes them lose motivation. If this was just every once in a while it’d be ok and understandable, but it’s pretty often. ✓ Great conceptI think this is a great concept. However, it is pricey...my husband is in credit card securities, so he does not want to link our accounts to this, so we are just using the jars for virtual money. A cheaper option for those people not linking accounts would be nice. When I set up the chores for our children, this looked promising. However I set up a daily goal for them to complete all of their chores. My middle child who is on the spectrum, finished all of his chores for the day, but the app didn’t show he had made any progress towards it. That was frustrating for both of us. My son can choose what jobs he wishes to complete during he week, to ultimately run minutes he can use on the PS4. However, one issue I have is with the job settings. I select the 'always available' toggle, however as soon as I go back into the job, it reverts back... extremely frustrating. ✓ Great Concept, Lacking FunctionalityThis app is a great concept, however there are some pretty significant issues. I have been using it with my daughter now for about 2 weeks and at first it seemed really promising, but as we use it it has become increasingly frustrating. Firstly, if you want to use any really useful functions you have to pay for the app. $4.99/mo. Is a bit steep in my opinion. I'd rather give that money to my daughter for her allowance. First issue is the lack of ability to approve or disapprove completed chores. This is pretty basic and should be included. They claim that the fee for the app is to cover the cost of using the banking features. I do not need those features, but would still like to use the other features, like jars!!! Perhaps the developers could consider 2 subscription levels, with a cheaper price for those of us who do not need the banking features. I would gladly pay $2/month to use all of the other features. Another annoying thing is the notifications. I am constantly getting notifications, but when I log into the app I see nothing. No notification link or section and nothing to indicate what the notification is for. Pretty annoying. ✓ Frustrating and distractingI went in with high hopes but using Homey is ultimately a frustrating and distracting experience. I’m trying to work through my chores as quickly and effectively as possible, but even though it has me marked as overdue on my work I can’t interact or scroll through my everyday chores. Instead I’m bombarded with request to take pictures of completed work or provide feedback with no simple way to cancel. If my life was organized and together, if I had lots of free time to take pictures or write feedback I wouldn’t need a chore app. Instead my life is not together and I’m behind constantly hassled by an app that’s supposed to help. ✓ Love it…but serious glitchesThis is a great concept, and we love the idea behind this app. It has truly helped our boys learn how to be responsible for their jobs around the house, and it’s great watching them learn about organization, time-management, and finance. However, this app has several frustrating glitches. Things often take a ridiculously long time to load, and then error out rather than loading at all. We are frequently unable to make edits, create new jobs, and switch accounts. When these things happen, we can SOMETIMES close out the app and it works at that point but not always. In the last 20 minutes I’ve attempted to edit one of my son’s profile, add a daily goal, and edit a job. All of which failed after they timed out. For each of those three things the app loaded for several minutes before telling me there was an error. We may need to cancel our subscription, delete this app, and find something more reliable. The chore can reoccur but only the one family member is assigned. I rather create the chore and decide what family member and what days they’re are assigned. For example I can not set up “wash dishes” for myself on Mondays and Fridays, then my wife on Tuesday and Thursdays without recreating the chore. The loading sign appears, and just stops there. Forever. Have to close the app and re-open. - When we go to submit a chore, the app crashes. - When we go to submit the picture, after FINALLY being able to submit the chore, the app crashes. - FINALLY, we have submitted the chore!!! But what on earth is happening!? Four new notifications. 🤔 Apparently, the system feels that every single time a chore is completed, that it was a huge team effort. Because it tells me everyone did it, and now I have to go and approve the one and deny every other family member. - 1 hour I into using this, my husband texts me “Deny. Deny. Deny.” I’m sure he appreciates getting bogged down with notifications that were 100# unnecessary, because the chore shouldn’t have been marked complete in the first place. And, this was only for the small amount of chores my kids could actually submit. - Finally, my son has come into my room and tossed the phone on the bed and said “I’m DONE with this app!!! 🤬” I would NEVER, under any circumstances, recommend this app..Version: 4.6

✓ Sick of this app!Great concept, but it costs WAY TOO MUCH to constantly have issues. Every time there is an update pushed out, my app doesn’t work. The last time, all of my features weren’t usable. I sent an email and never got a response. After about a week, it was miraculously working again. Today, the app immediately closes every time you open it. So over it. I’d like to be able to open the app in the Responsibilities area first and not jobs. My kids can’t do jobs for money without first doing the required chores first. I’d like a verified chore feature for parents. It seems I can deny a completed chore but I’d like to let my child know that I approve as well. Another challenge is when 1 child misses a chore but the chore belongs to another child the next day. When child 1 does it a day late the next child has an open item that was done by someone else. Not sure how to adjust but need flexibility some how. I’d also like to adjust the notifications to only receive notice once a chore pack is complete. ✓ Unhappy because doesn’t work!Very unhappy with this app. It came highly recommended but after multiple attempts of loading, unloading, creating accounts, and purchasing premium version it has yet to work. We have 4 kids but can only add 1 and every attempt to add more doesn’t work in fact it asks for a subscription upgrade which I click yes and pay for but still can’t add more of my family. ✓ DisappointingThis app had a lot of promise. I downloaded it to help us manage chores for our three kids - 4, 8 and 16. At first the app ran well. Loved the set up process with activities separated into responsibilities and jobs. That’s where the app’s ease of ends. As chores are added the lag time increases dramatically, to the point where my brand new iPhone can’t process he data. Using the job function will not calculate dollars earned and is clunky to use. ✓ Needs to fix bugsThe app is great, but I can't press the back button (the arrow at the top left of the screen). When I try to press it, it doesn't work, so I have to exit out of the app and go back in to it again of I want to go back to the home screen. It is frustrated and annoying. Please fix the bug. It is an annoying problem. There are also some problems with other buttons too. If I try to press the mark as done button it won't work aswell. ✓ Has great potentialI gave this app 1 star because it is very buggy. I only made it 3 days into the free trial before I had to find another app. This app has a lot of great features and is easy to use. However this app has so many glitches it makes the app unusable. In my opinion this app is about 75% done. It is not ready for consumer use and definitely is not ready for a paid subscription. If they can fix the synchronization glitches, chore date glitches, add a feature to account for different time zones, and many of the other glitches I think this app would be worth $50 a year but right now it’s not there. It was so glitchy I wouldn’t use the free version..Version: 3.58
✓ Why not points?People are complaining about the high monthly cost. Developers are saying it’s the bank merchant exchange fees driving up price. Why not just have a point system where you can allocate and reward your kids points that they can redeem for anything, even non-material like playing video games during the week instead of weekends, or tv and ice cream night? Points could be an additional option to cash. For me, I’d rather have total say over the money my kids have anyway at their age until I can better teach them the value of it. ✓ Connection issuesI really like this app as it's been super helpful teaching our kids the value of work and earning. What I don't like is the customer service and lack of response to emails. I've been trying to connect our bank accounts because it would streamline the payment/spending/tracking process - meaning it's one step I can remove from the process of assigning chores through paying out actual money. That's valuable time i can get back for my family's already crazy schedule. I've sent 2 emails over the last 3 weeks or so (maybe just under 3 weeks) and I haven't gotten a single response back, not even an automated one. I paid for a year subscription but I'm not sure that I want to keep using and paying for a service that is this unresponsive..Version: 4.6
✓ Great concept but buggyToday is my first day using it. I switched from a different app because the other app was just “meh.” It’s easy to set up and use, but it’s buggy when it comes to trying to name the jars. It lets me create a third jar, but every time I type in a name it freezes the entire app and I have to shut it down. Also I think you should be able to edit a chore and have an option to update it across all users instead of having to go into each person to update it. My kids are close in age and so a lot of their chores have the same parameters, but if I change something on one I have to go in and update it on the other one which is annoying..Version: 3.58
✓ So frustrating!I’m about to go insane just trying to set everything up. The app is so slow and buggy! It keeps crashing on me. I’m on the latest apple hardware too. Bank integration is so sloppy. UI is nice UX is terrible. I plan on running this on two iPhone and two kindles, so it is nice it is on both platforms, but I wish it were written as a PWA so that it behaved the same in both and I could use it on my computer. Also, if it is the bank integration that keep the price point high, could you offer a plan without the bank integration? it is kind os pointless. I tried to add my 16 yo daughter’s account, but it said I can’t because she isn’t 18..Version: 3.11.1
