BusyCal: Calendar & Tasks for Positive User Reviews

Good butIt would be good if you could make the week view with the days running DOWN the screen instead of ACROSS the screen. Then we wouldn’t need to zoom in and out, or to change to landscape view..Version: 3.5.107

Very good, but needs iPhone X updateBest calendar app. Just needs overdue update for iPhone X please..Version: 3.2

ExcellentWorks very well, and I really like having most of the excellent Mac version’s functionality and flexibility in iOS so I can avoid the (pointlessly divided) Apple equivalents on both platforms. And the brand new Widget choices are great!.Version: 3.15.1

Had to come backI took a year or so hiatus from using BusyCal. I switched to Calendars by Readdle. Now that’s it been awhile, I forgot why I even left though. Maybe it was because BusyCal’s iOS app didn’t allow for drag and drop at the time? However, now the new macOS version of Calendars doesn’t even allow for drag and drop, which is crazy for a Mac app. Anyway, I tried to endure for a little while, but eventually had to come back to BusyCal because drag and drop is so important on a Mac app. I was pleasantly surprised to learn they implemented it for the iOS app as well. Shouldn’t have left in the first place. Glad to be coming back to it..Version: 4.4.3

Extremely solid calendar appBusycal is no frills, full-featured and robust. It perfectly supports standards like CalDAV which other developers seem afraid to touch on with their apps. The configurability of the app is fantastic. Being able to zoom the calendar views is great and the information density and layout are top notch. The developer appears to also have put significant effort in optimising resource usage, too, which is rare these days. Worth every penny. Keep up the great work!.Version: 3.5.98

Wonderful App but why…Wonderful app but it seems the competitors have been able to access work Exchange accounts without admin approval. Why not BusyCal ? My work Exchange events appear in BusyCal but the events are overwritten with a « busy » title. This is not the case with the other app: Fant…..Version: 3.13.1

Excellent AppExcellent Calendar app as is the desktop one. Needs a setting so that when you move an appointment to a calendar that isn't in view (isn't enabled to be shown) - you can set this action not to auto enable it. I have a 'Done' calendar for keeping appointment history without cluttering up past days with things that have taken place and don't require further action.Version: 3.1

100% recommend for people balancing multiple jobsThis app is ridiculous. It’s been brilliant for balancing a variety of jobs and the colour coding and ability to just see one job at a time if I want makes it A++. Even carrying incomplete tasks over to the next day is a small detail that makes this so powerful..Version: 3.3.7

Fantastic App, but needs an Apple Watch AppSo I have used Fantastical for a very long time and among the many out there, I have been disenfranchised by their massive annual cost increase. So I was looking for a new app. I noticed that SetApp had Busy call in their offerings so I took a look at the app on the Mac. AND I LOVE IT! The user interface in my opinion is so much more beautiful than Fantastical and I love that on the Mac App, the menu bar actually tells you how much time before your next appointment. The only thing I DON’T like is the absence of an Apple Watch app, when almost every app in the App Store has this feature. Hopefully the company is working on this. In the meantime I am using Apple’s default calendar app on my Apple Watch, which is okay, but it’s antiquated compared to Fantastical’s watch app in my opinion. It would be great to know if you’re working on one, but I will still be using your calendar if you don’t..Version: 3.16.5

Really liking BusycalI mean pretty much everything about it is an improvement on the calendar apps I’ve had before it. Have only been using for a couple of weeks, but it’s intuitive and well featured and I’m optimistic that it’s a keeper. Why the dropped star? My only gripe is that it just looks a bit dated. For a company that specialise in Mac apps, it just looks, err, a bit PC (especially in month view and the date dropdown in this view). Nothing major would be required to tighten it up and bring a more modern aesthetic to proceedings, but I just can’t quite love something that I find unappealing to look at. Would be great to see oiled and tweaked and it’d be a five star from me..Version: 3.5.1

We need a widget!I'm using busycal on my Mac and iphone. It does the work, I am fully satisfied, but one thing that is missing is an ios widget..Version: 3.3.9

Just the bestVery simply the best. Better than Microsoft and apple. Please make an email client. Please please please..Version: 3.7.6

Switched from FanatasticalI was a fairly content Fantastical user for a number of years, but after they dropped a 50+% price increase on users this year I realised they were on a money grab. My calendar is core to my remote working workflow, so I was a little anxious about switching but it’s been pretty smooth so far. My only gripe is the way that a second time zone is handled in the UI of BusyCal - it’s less intuitive/convenient to switch than in Fantastical. Otherwise, it’s full marks to BusyCal!.Version: 3.15.0

A Couple of Missing FeaturesI’ve recently migrated away from another calendar app that is currently experiencing a large exodus of customers. As much as I really like BusyCal (I also just purchased the Mac version, after trialing it for a couple of hours.), I reluctantly had to uninstall it from my iPhone because there are two missing features that are essential to me: the ability to search my entire calendar (not just the past 10 years) and custom alerts. I often need to set an alarm two to four weeks prior to an event, and BusyCal only allows up to 2 days prior. Hoping these features will eventually get added. In the meantime, I’ve had to come up with a “Plan B” for my phone..Version: 3.5.95

Good calendar mostlyGood app, really enjoy BusyCal, though I hate that you have to keep buying it to get the updates on Mac. I think once you buy something it should be yours, including updates. Especially since I am a long time customer. There should be a lifetime option. I probably would have more than paid it by now with the updates I have paid for. The iPad and iphone version are good, just wish they gave larger font options, especially when the device is set for a larger font. So a suggestion is…. large or larger font options…. Please!! Also, for those of us down under, the dates sometime reset to the dates in America, we are a day ahead here and often I put the day I want in… and it automatically sets it for the day before! Super annoying!!.Version: 3.11.12

Great app for iOS and MacOS!After using Fantastical 2 for years on my MacBook Pro, I switched to BusyCal. What’s the reason, they moved to a subscription model. I feel betrayed by that company. Additionally, I’ve used WeekCal on my iPhone for 7 years. It had also gone to a subscription model. I did some searching for months and BusyCal has won me over. BusyCal does everything you need it to including reminders built into both platforms. If BusyCal keeps the same business model, I’ll use it indefinitely. If they decide to go to a subscription model, I’ll uninstall on both my Mac and iPhone and go to the stock Apple calendar apps. I’m happy so far and would recommend to anyone..Version: 3.5.97

My favorite calendar appI’ve tried most of the major calendar apps for Mac and iOS. I keep coming back to BusyCal. It has extensive customizability, and all the features that I need. Fantastical is good, but BusyCal is every bit as good (if not better) for my needs and includes most, if not all, of the extras that Fantastical only includes if you pay the subscription fee, which is a bit on the expensive side. Seamless integration with BusyContacts is also a significant plus..Version: 4.4.1

Crashes on open in ios12 fixed in testflightCrashes on open in ios12 fixed in testflight.Version: 3.3.7

Love it but...This is a great app. Finally an app that sends email confirmations for meetings to invitees 😎! But it is crashing upon opening in iOS 12.3.1. I think the app updated automatically on my iPhone 8 Plus last night and now I can’t use it. Help!!.Version: 3.4

Syncs well across devices, e few nigglesGreat for writing to and reading from all devices - iPad, phone, desktop etc. Some features don’t work the same though - the default alarm settings are different on each device, which means going into each one separately to set alarms. A bit irritating for something that otherwise works well..Version: 3.6.2

Best Calendar AppThe best calendar app I have used. Does everything ai need, synced seamlessly between 2 phones, an iPad, snd an iMac. Brilliant!.Version: 3.6.2

Best calendar app by farReally is the best. I’ve have virtually every single calendar to do app there is and nothing comes close. The only thing missing is iPhone X support for full screen usage. Dragging their feet a bit but hopefully won’t be too far off. I’ll give it five stars once X support arrives..Version: 3.2

Behind functionally…Update to initial review: The developers have obviously been hard at work over the last few months, as the updates that have come through are really useful. Some real thought is going into making workflows easier without just copying functionality from the built-in iOS apps (long press of the today icon to bring up a date selector is brilliant, as is the long press to bring up an event type selector and drag for time period). Great work guys - keep it coming! Initial review: I started to write this review over a year ago - that BusyCal for iOS feels quite antiquated in terms of functionality and when compared with other modern calendar apps’ interfaces. Over a year later and no update to bring the app at the very least in line with other apps regarding features and functionality. It is slipping further behind. I adore the desktop app and am frustrated with the iOS version in comparison. Can we at least have the ability to create an event by long pressing a time in the calendar? Keyboard shortcuts for navigating / functionality / switching views? Long pressing the Home Screen icon to quickly add an event / task? Command T to go to Today for heaven’s sake!.Version: 3.16.6

Doesn’t work with iCloud - UpdateMy previous rating was one star but after some persistence, which wasn’t really helped by the vendor, I managed to get this working. And yes, it is very good once up and running. I will have to wait for the beta Reminders update to Mac before fully utilising the product but I’m very pleased with it so far. However, the vendor does need to make it much clearer about the Apple in-app password restrictions. Fantastical have got this right..Version: 3.5.3

The Gold Standard (IMHO)I've tried so many other calendar apps, both on iOS and on the Mac, and I've never found any other app that ticks so many boxes for me. I remember these guys from when they were Now Contact and Up-To-Date and they have continued to excel with BusyCal (iOS and Mac) and BusyContacts (on the Mac). A great combination of features, flexibility and ease of use. Keep up the good work guys!.Version: 3.5.0

Good app, nice compliment to MacOS version. My wife and I use this app on our iPhone 6S Plus for last 2 years and love it. It is a very nice compliment to Desktop version for MacOS. To me it was worth the price of admission, developers are always working on it adding new features and are very responsive if you report an error. If you have suggestions they are also very attentive to listen. Although you can’t expect them to add everything people ask for. All in all a good app and I would say give it a try, especially if you have the desktop version..Version: 3.3.2

Nags for a reviewHence one star.Version: 3.5.0

Great calendar, needs small upgradesThis calendar excels at: - iOS and google calendar integration, events are always synced - iOS reminders integration, being able to pick specific lists to show and others to hide is something that sets this app apart from others - the ability to choose how many weeks are displayed - the clear difference between all day and times events - a beautiful and clear monthly calendar A few upgrades that I’d like to request: - the ability to add tasks from the calendar view to lists that are hidden, but without causing that list to unhide... it’s nice to work from one screen without settings being effected - improved event repetition, several other apps have already adopted options that are more intricate and introduced them in a more user-friendly format, ie: repeat on these specific days every week, or this specific day of the month (I’m thinking about Readdle’s Calendars 5, which is the one thing they really exec at).Version: 3.5.98

So close to perfectThe sync has been updated and is working great! Still not perfect, and still pretty close. I have tried this App several times over the years. I am so glad to see such wonderful improvements, in the present update, that I use personally. The only thing I think it lacks, and this is just an opinion, is a better week view. Several competitors offer a week view that have the days as “daily squares” that show the information much better than relying on the current week view which sizes itself into oblivion and unneeded truncated information. (Unneeded in the aspect that this would not happen in the other view option.) I hope some day that will be offered here as well. Still no templates. All in all, great updates that have pushed my view up to 4 stars. (5 is kept for perfection) Thanks guys!.Version: 4.6.0

The best calendar app, hands downI’ve been using Busycal as my main calendaring app for years now. The default Apple calendar is frustrating to use and this app is such an improvement. Like most self employed people, my calendar is my most important tool at making a living and I use this app more than just about any other. There are still features I discover that I didn’t realize was built in. Happy surprises that make it even better. Once Apple allowed removing the calendar app, it was gone and this has been my default on every device I own. iPhones, iPads, and Macs. Give it a week, I guarantee you will not look back..Version: 3.5.111

A little quirky but thoughtful & usefulThings I love: - easy to duplicate and manipulate events - the way to-dos (Reminders) integrate with the calendar itself (didn’t Apple Calendar formerly work like that?). This is incredibly useful to me because I need to see a spatially organized view of my day or week (not a uniform list) but I also like to have my to-dos in the same app, visually distinct but right there. Hard to explain but no other calendar app seems to be able to do this. - how customizable the various views and defaults are - the Mac app, though expensive, is quite nice too Things that could be improved: - on iPhone especially, and especially in portrait position, the vertical list of times along the left side takes up too much space - odd that I have to use app-specific passwords to sync my calendars with this app, whereas other 3rd-party calendar apps are fine just asking me for permission to access them. But it’s ok because I haven’t found any other 3rd-party calendar app that I’d care to use. A bug I noticed: -sometimes when you long press to drag an event, you get an error saying it can’t be dragged; some nonsense like “scroll to the start of the event and long press again.” Huh? Tapping somewhere else and then trying again seems to make it work..Version: 3.3.9

No Custom Repeats!!!I would love to use busycal as my daily calendar app but there's one problem....No Custom Repeats for events or reminders. Everything else is spot on which is such a shame!.Version: 3.5.1

Time for a changeI have been using this program for YEARS and whenever I’ve needed help, I got it. HOWEVER, I’ve requested help for awhile now as it no longer shares with someone else -who has paid for it- but nobody responds. I just can’t trust it any longer 😤.Version: 3.7.6

Great app with one issue on Apple WatchThe app is great and has tremendously improved through all its updates. I was so happy to see it come to the Apple Watch. The app and its complications are really well made. Unfortunately, I discovered that the app on Apple Watch is in English only while I have all my devices setup to use French. I will gladly add the missing star when this is all fixed..Version: 4.2.1

Keeps getting betterApril 2021: Still waiting for iOS 14 time selector to be activated. No need for the spinning discs of silliness to still be the only way to enter time in something other than 15 minute block with the app's sliding window. As one of only a few calendar apps that properly integrates todos/tasks, BusyCal is bringing their incredible app from the desktop to the mobile. Great work! A fifth star will be awarded if they release a keypad date/time selector to replace Apple's frustrating spinning wheels..Version: 3.6

Wonderful for Viewing, but not editingI got BusyCal because it could search all past synced events. Until recently, Apple’s built-in iOS Calendar app would only show items from the last year in search results. Apple finally fixed that within the last few years. (Seriously, Apple… what took you so long?!) But BusyCal has many other cool features: • I like viewing the whole month at a time with my events in place in their colour coding. • Nice enhancement like phases of the moon • Multitude of customization choices (font sizes etc.) • Viewing Reminder events right on the calendar. (While I mainly interact with tasks in Apple’s built-in Reminders app, BusyCal doesn’t get in the way of this.) Where BusyCal falls down is in the inputting of events. It tries to be “smart” and fails miserably. For example, say I want to record my successful golfing outing. I can’t just enter “Hole in one!” without it becoming an ordeal. BusyCal underlines the word “in” to signify that whatever I enter next is going into the location field. Thus, I end up with an event with title “Hole” and location “One”. Duhhhh. It’s infuriating because once it underlines “in” there’s no way to prevent it other than to finish inputting, then go back and correct it. Likewise, I often find that BusyCal unexpectedly shifts start times if I adjust end times (or vice versa). The Mac version does this, too, but it’s easier to correct than on iPhone. I wish there was a way to turn off this not-so-smart input mode. I didn’t see a “Don’t Assume” mode in settings. When I’m on iPhone, I often find myself inputting events in Apple’s Calendar rather than fight with BusyCal. But for VIEWING calendars, BusyCal is superior. I was just about to take away another star because of another recent input bug in BusyCal: the on-screen keyboard obstructed the Notes field. I’m happy to report that they’ve just now fixed this ( version 4.6.2 as of this writing). So, it’s a plus that the developer is responsive..Version: 4.6.2

Great Start BUTI love this app, but its main weakness lies in its dependence on an exterior app. While you can create to do’s in app and rearrange in there, I find it easier to use the reminders app and have it automatically inputted. The problem is that both BusyCal and Reminders are clunky in reordering or prioritizing to do’s. I see that the developers are working on more 3rd party compatibility and I really hope that they will partner with Sorted. Sorted streamlines the organizational aspect of to do’s in a far superior way to either BusyCal or Reminders, but BusyCal arranges those to do’s in a visual way that is far superior, and most importantly, harder to ignore way. These two apps should join forces and become the power couple to power productivity..Version: 3.3.9

The First Calendar I’ve Used That Has EVERYTHINGI’ve tried numerous calendars and had been using Fantastical for the last couple of years. But this Calendar has every feature I’ve ever wanted - from having options of having the month written next to every date (a simple feature, but now I can never mess up), a great month view, and buttons where I can reach them. I’ve just got the Mac app as well, and that is equally brilliant. One thing I’d like to have - a few more App Icon options to fit it with my homescreen design better :).Version: 4.5.2

Le meilleure pour MacJ’ai travaillé avec vraiment plusieurs agenda proposé sur AppStore et après plusieurs années je peux vous dire qu’il est le meilleur. J’aimerais juste qu’il soit en français..Version: 3.8.2

Great app. Would love a “next 7 days” set of widgetsApp has a next 3 days widget. Would love a next 7 days widget.Version: 3.16.5

What a calendar app should beI have been an avid user of the OSX app for sometime, and bought this version on release. I used it consistently though I didn't find it a tremendous departure from the native ios app. Then, with the most recent update, it has flourished into its own game-changing field. I cannot begin to describe my joy on choosing a date in the 'add' field, only to find a calendar appear to pick from, not a scrolling wheel of numbers and months. Finally, I don't need to could upwards from today to work out what next Wednesday's date is. I love this calendar!.Version: 3.1

ExcellentExcellent app am using in all devices. It would be great if there was an Apple Watch app which would complete the great product.Version: 3.12.3

Exactly what I needed!!I needed an iOS calendar app that: 1) can sync with Exchange, Google calendar and iCloud 2) that doesn't use iOS calendar setting to sync to these services 3) gives me a monthly view And I couldn't believe there's finally one!! The look department can definitely be improved and I had difficulty getting the right setting to sync with the Exchange, but since it's just been released I believe it'll only get better from now..Version: 3.0

Great AppGreat app. Just wish there was more support for Apple Watch. Not all reminders 100 percent hit my Apple Watch. But that is the only complaint. Every thing else is very very good. Thanks guys..Version: 3.3.8

Great app just add the option to display alternative calendarThe app has been working quite well for me bought the subscription to unlock all the features just wanted to ask you to add alternative calendar cause mac has it already can add it to ios all as well rest i have one word for this app excellent.Version: 4.6.0

Great app, but short changes non-USDropped one star, as it advertised 50% off. = US$4.99 but charged GB£9.99 (honest advertising = £3.95 + tax) Otherwise seems to work well..Version: 4.5.3

Built in caldav and shows TasksHave own server for info (Nextcloud). Issues with Apple caldav client syncing but Busycal has no problems. Having Tasks display in calendar also a big plus. Not 5 star because too expensive (at least not a subscription) and a bit slow on releasing updates eg no iOS 14 widget yet..Version: 3.5.103

Pretty GoodI’ve been using this app for almost two years and have found it to be mostly good. I chose it specifically so I could have more control over the colors of tasks. This is very helpful at a glance. I do prefer how they look for an all day task, I wish they were all like that and there was another way to differentiate which were all day. For some reason the to do tasks are not color coded on my phone, only computer. Overall I find it intuitive. My biggest issue and what I would really really like is if the icon had the date like the iPhone calendar does. I find myself flipping to check that icon, and I’d rather just be able to have busy cal icon do it..Version: 3.5.111

Busy CalI really like it. Not many calendar apps have calendar sets and this one does and it is so useful. This app makes me enjoy adding events and planning and I’m looking forward to future updates. Thanks for a great tool..Version: 4.6.2

Great appDoes as intended. An obedient workhorse. Never fails you.Version: 3.6.2

Capable, attractive, adaptable and powerfulI’ve found this to be an excellent choice for managing my calendars and todo’s. It offers many ways to manage these and is customizable. It has been an excellent replacement for my recently deleted app that changed to a subscription model. So glad I made the move on all my devices. I can’t also say enough positive comments about the excellent support. Outstanding and prompt and able to resolve issues quickly. I have only have two requests I hope will be added soon to make it perfect. First, it needs a companion Apple Watch app. For me this is essential as I often use my watch in place of my phone. On the watch app I hope a month view is included as well. The second is I would like to see a view on the phone that is similar to the view of the menu bar applet used on the Mac. This offers a small monthly calendar with a list of events or todo’s under it. This is a quick and efficient way to scroll through your day or ahead. A long press on a date would allow you to enter a new event..Version: 3.5.96

The Best iOS Calendar — User Since 2013I’ve tried the likes of Fantastical and other calendar apps but none can provide the same features as BusyCal. I like having to see clear and concise information at a glance and BusyCal is the only one that can do that. Just with the month view I can see glyphs of the weather, all calendar events, and the ability to adjust the amount of information just by pinching and zooming. While the layout doesn’t appear as fancy as other apps, this one seems to be designed with function over form. I highly recommend using this!.Version: 3.5.93

A couple dumb things…1. When switching from your local time zone to floating time, the hours change back to GMT. If I put in a time and then switch to floating, it should keep the hours and minutes i I’m out originally 2. The “Location” field won’t accept a telephone number or any other type of contact detail other than a physical address. Other than that, it works pretty well and having Floating time - even if awkward - make the app worth having as I travel a lot and my appointments would constantly get messed up..Version: 3.7.1

Version: 3.11.2

It would be nice to have the option of selecting ‘centigrade’ for the new ‘Apple weather’ featureIt was working fine before. Why break it?.Version: 3.12.2

VersionShould have language choice like French.Version: 3.5.1

Almost excellentThere's no way to type in a date, so you have to flick through a calendar to find the date, or rely on the AI to understand it in words or numbers, and it rarely does. It mixes up US and ISO dates, and it can't understand past dates. That makes it slow to use. I want to be able to type in date and time. That's not asking a lot..Version: 4.5.7

Feature rich calendar without a ridiculous subscription chargeGreat calendar that doesn’t become a rolling expensive. Perfect for all my needs..Version: 3.16.12

Great app! Couple fixes could help thoAs someone who loves to organize this is the best app on the market (I’ve tried so many). A couple minor issues I wish were fixed; however: 1) on the mobile app on the ‘day’ view, if you drag an event either up or down by holding on the right most part of the event, it automatically moves through the other days (right) when I just want it to be moved up or down. Please fix! 2) on the mobile app, it would be really nice to be able to write in an events ‘note’ section without pressing the ‘edit’ button. I believe you can adjust the dates without the edit button but being able to access the notes without it too would be great. This isn’t a fix per say but would be really nice to have!! Thank you..Version: 4.5.7

Nearly amazingI would love to love this app. I definitely love the Mac version. And this iOS one is good. Honestly I don't want to use any other calendar apps because it's so good for so many different kinds of accounts. The only downfall is it's size. I don't mean the app size, I mean the text size. But you can scale the font on the day/week settings you say. Yes, you can. But the agenda works best for me so I'm stuck. But you can scale app sizing in iOS you say. You certainly can. Doesn't work for some apps through, this one included. The Mac one has scalable text size so I'm sure the coding is already written and wouldn't be that difficult to put in here. You do that and you'll not only have a person who will never use any other calendar, I'll tell everyone I can how wonderful this is! Please? Pretty please? 👍.Version: 3.14.4

Love it!I absolutely love this app that has (almost) everything to keep me organized. The only missing features for me would be subtasks (or the option to add notes that can be checked off) and also a widget displaying only my tasks..Version: 3.16.7

Best iOS calendar appThis app is the best! Smart design Reliable Everything you can ask for.Version: 3.16.10

Great app. Natural Language input can use some workLove the lightweightness and the UI. Tho the input can use some work when entering in Natural Language..Version: 3.6.2

Apple Reminders no more workingNo more works with last Apple Reminders upgrade.Version: 3.5.0

The bestTried the others and BusyCal is still the best all round..Version: 4.5.7

Toodledo TasksLove the calendar but it needs to sync with Toodledo tasks.Version: 4.6.2

Keeps getting better.Update Dec 2020 This calendar app is really very good. Amazing that it is FREE and works on iOS and the Mac! (Not sure about the watch, don’t have one of them anymore). It doesn’t have the natural language like Fantastical, and the syncing between devices is a bit sluggish, but this is nit picking. Continue to recommend. Update Feb 2017. Still my default app, use it all the time. Quite happy with it. A minor issue is that I have location services allowed "always". As I type in an address, it seems to find US locations until I add more info. Not ideal but not a deal breaker. This could be because I live in Canada but I don't think it should be an issue. I'm still waiting for Apple Watch support..Version: 3.5.107

Good app, great supportThis and the Mac versions of BusyCal and Busycontacts are 2 of the best apps I have and that I use all day every day. I have used BusyCal (and BusyContacts) on the Mac for some time. Nothing on the iPhone worked have as well, so this iPhone app is wonderful to have. I finally use the calendar on my phone--and its syncrhony (in all senses) with the Mac is a relief. Here, though, I want to emphasize the *immediate,* *competent,* and complete nature of the tech. support this company provides on all their products. Looking forward to BusyContacts on the iPhone!.Version: 3.5.92

I am loving itI’m a longtime user of BusyCal, and before that, Now Up-to-Date on my desktop. I was aware of the BusyCal app for the iPhone and iPad, but figured I was okay with what Apple provides. I took advantage of the Busy App sale and downloaded it during the Black Friday event, and I love it. I find it much easier than what Apple gives us, and I wish I had made this addition to my iPhone earlier. Once again, Busy Apps have outdone themselves!.Version: 4.5.4

The Best Calendar for Mac and iOSI used to struggle with the standard calendar app. I’d miss appointments and it was difficult to see what as going on. I bought BusyCal years ago and it has gone through many versions since. I’ve paid to upgrade and tested its competitors. Some looked good (Fantastical), but in practice didn’t make it easy to see what was going on. We use BusyCal for both the business and home. I know what’s going on and it’s easy to block out work of different types in different colours. It syncs seamlessly with Google to send my instructors their dates too! It’s the best. It works. It’s super reliable. A huge upgrade from Apple Calendar!.Version: 3.5.107

Great app so far, but no colorsIt does everything I need a calendar app to do, except sync the colors of specific events between the macOS app and iOS app..Version: 4.6.2

Integrates calendar and to-do’sBusyCal wins over other calendars for many reasons. First, the iPad / iPhone / Mac coordination is perfect. Second, there are relatively few calendars that integrate the calendar and “to-do” functions. BusyCal does a great job of combining the two. Also: I used to think the graphics were just fun. I’ve now learned to use them so that, at a fast glance, I can see what’s coming up in the next couple of weeks. Also: I’ve had occasional hiccups and user support has been fast and first-rate. Zero complaints. I’m a very satisfied user..Version: 3.11.12

WeatherOverall, I have enjoyed using BusyCal and it has been the default calendar app on my iPhone for a couple of years. Recently I have noticed that it seems to be giving the weather data for some other city even though the app has access to my location data whilst in use. Is there any way to find out or change which city’s weather is being used in the app? Thanks..Version: 3.5.97

Switched from SamsungRecently switched from Samsung to apple. This is much better than the stock apple calendar. Would be nice if in the month view events would span two lines making them easier to read. It would also be nice to be able to assign different colours to different events..Version: 4.5.7

Very good calendar appI really like this app. I primarily use the list view and the month view. I like that the list view includes reminders - very good feature. But I wish you could set it not show the days that do not have any events. I like the flexibility in the month view to show more or less weeks, but I would also like the option of scrolling a full month at a time with a single swipe, instead of the continuous scrolling. If it had these two features it would be 5-star all the way, But even as it is, it is an excellent calendar app..Version: 3.5.104

Far superior to basic cal and worth the priceAs someone with ADD who is learning to actively manage his time, the standard Apple calendar was a hinderance. It was an effort to go in and reschedule missed items so I would just ignore them and they would fall off my radar. The little features in this calendar make it EASY to quickly move time blocks around… -Love that I can drag/drop calendar entries (across times and dates) -Love that it connects to all my shared Apple calendars (just needs 3rd party password) -Love that it’s calendar + ToDo tasks in one place -Love that tasks show up on calendar -Love that there’s undated, dated, and dated+timed tasks -Love that I can select times using a few different methods (dragging, selector wheel, etc) -Love all the settings and tweaking I can do -Love that it’s NOT a subscription!! (Although I would likely pay a small amount $1/mo? to keep the maintenance going) So much more..Version: 3.7.2

Sooo much better than Calendar etc.Calendars, To Dos, Reminders, Alarms all wrapped into one intuitive, well thought out and functional app. I love it and rely on it..Version: 4.5.7

So good to have everything integratedI've been using BusyCal and busy contacts on my Mac for quite a while and like them very much. I've just started using BusyCal for my iPhone and it is so amazing to have all my to do's in Reminders sent with invisible in my calendar. Great job, please keep making it better!.Version: 3.2

Badges broken?I’m just wondering how the tasks badges got broken since latest two updates… used to only show badges for the incompleted tasks but now no matter if they are complete or not it shows only the number of tasks total, not just the remaining tasks. If I choose “remaining items” it also shows incorrect badge number … I used to like only seeing what I had left to do throughout the day, now it is confusing. Hopefully this will get fixed soon. Otherwise I really do love the app!.Version: 3.16.5

One of the bestEven using it for over a year now and I love it! Worth the money and the value your get from this cal. Easy to use and layout is just perfect..Version: 3.15.0

A very good calendarThis is a very versatile and useful calendar. I use it across iPhone, iPad, MacBook and iMac and it sync's without a problem. It makes multiple calendars and has customisable tags and has useful smart filters that enable you to focus in on any aspect of your day/week/month/year. It also has excellent Timezone support enabling you to select any Timezone as well as display 2 time zones simultaneously. The iPad and iPhone BusyCal versions lack flexibility in the custom repeat options for a new appointment and this is a noticeable limitation in an otherwise excellent app. Hopefully, this will soon be rectified..Version: 3.1.5

It syncs w/ Apple Reminders!!!!!I’ve been trying to find a good way to sync my calendar and my reminders app - not a lot of good solutions out there and then BINGO… BusyCal. Even better than getting all my reminder tasks to simply show up in my Apple Calendar apps. The features and display customization make the yearly subscription pretty reasonable. The calendar syncs really well with Apple Calendar and Apple Reminders in case you need to use them. Big fan here..Version: 4.5.7

Natural language, no subscription, great supportI wanted an easy way to add events to my Google calendar using natural language (rather than using a dozen taps to say the date and time etc) and BusyCal does that brilliantly. I love that it's only a one time payment rather than a subscription, too. When I first downloaded it, I couldn't connect to my Google calendar, and I wrote to BusyCal support. The developer was extremely responsive, and helped me over a few days to figure out the issue. (It was that I had only entered my Google username and not my full email address!) Highly recommended!.Version: 4.6.2

Yes. Yes. Yes. 100% BuyHere’s the down low: This one beats them all……….. I usually get super intimate with these apps. Learn more about the devs. Learn about the apps. I’ve had them all. Followed all of them for years. Google cal, Apple, calendars, tiny cal, notion cal, fantastical… and so many smaller lesser-known apps. The month and week view like never before. Shrink and expand as needed. Fluid and fast and responsive. Natural lang. drag or dial for time editing. Can choose which todos go on calendar and when. Overdo carry on to next day or stay. JUST SIMPLY YES! There is no sub. One time payment. Just DO IT! I feel like these folks felt all the same pains I felt with a calendar app. They freakin’ read my mind. ❤️❤️ Note…. Set up is unique for iCloud/apple.. if you’re not techie, just get a friend. Worth it.Version: 4.5.7

Great jobHave been using for a couple of years on my Mac and phone and find it very good - keep up the good work!.Version: 4.6.0

Very good! But a couple things I'd like to seeFor the most part I really like this app. I like the month view, and the way that tapping a day expands all the events in it feels a lot better than other calendar apps I've used. There's a couple things keeping this from being 5 stars for me. I don't know if there's a better place to leave feature requests, so dropping them here and crossing my fingers, haha. (1) I wish typing "all day" when creating an event would be parsed and change the event to be all day. (2) I also wish typing something like "tomorrow-Thurs" would make the event all day on both days (or at least give me the option!). (3) Duplicating an event should pop up a calendar to choose when I want to copy it to; it currently just copies to the same day and then it's extra taps to go in and move it. (4) I also wish the Event List and Up Next widgets would show more than just the current day -- ideally the widgets would show as much info as they could fit!.Version: 4.5.1

Love the appI have been using this app for a year or two now and I love it. Super customizable and easy to use. The only thing missing now are widget options!!! Widgets please!!!!!.Version: 3.5.111

Great replacement calendar app!I don’t like the way the current stock calendar app shows information in month view (it used to do better but at some point was redesigned to be more minimalist). So I replaced it with a 3rd party calendar app that was great for several years until that company switched to an overpriced subscription model that also required you to set up an account with them. That sent me looking for yet another replacement...which eventually led me to BusyCal. This app is great! Easy to use, shows plenty of information on the screen in any given view, and does not require any special logins or subscriptions! Just what I wanted! One thing I’d suggest...get better at App Store optimization. I found this app by reading calendar app reviews on some other websites. This app does not appear if I just search the store for “calendar” (or if it does, it’s so far down in the list as to be useless)..Version: 3.5.98

Best Calendar App for iOS & MacLike this to iOS Cal 2.0 — has all the functions / views / customizable settings the native calendar app is missing. Wish List: • To-Do Widget (for quick viewing / checking off items) • Ability to hide weekends in vertical month view • Touch-hold and move events • Edit mode opens automatically when you click an event • Slide to delete events in calendar mode.Version: 3.3.8

Best calendar app I ever tried for iPhoneI was just telling my wife how great this app was, came to leave a review but just found negative ones: drag and drop was sublime - I cant understand what the other reviewer had a problem with, Sync was flawless - again, I cant understand what the other reviewer had a problem with, another reviewer said Copy and paste missing, in edit mode it works for me. What I likes was the different views, are great : List, Day, Week, (the scaling for hours and days sublime again, Month & ToDo !). I have never rushed to the App story to celebrate an app before, it's such a relief to have something usable AND FLOATING TIME ZONES TOO (I am an extreme international traveller)..Version: 3.0.2

Best calendar app on iOSI've tried all the major apps and BusyCal is my favourite by far. Especially like the adjustability of day/week views. There are still 3 features I'd love to see, however: 1) The ability to show/hide calendars with fewer taps. Currently it takes 2 taps to get to your list of calendars before you can check/uncheck the. It would be amazing to access this list with just one tap or even better, a swipe. 2) A widget. Tbh an old widget with interactivity would be better than a new iOS14 widget. 3) Draggable start and end times for events in day and week view. Currently there are draggable start and end times only after you tap to edit an event. It would be nice to be able to do this in day and week views with a long press. Currently a long press only offers the option to duplicate the event——but there's space for the circular drag handles here. Devs: Keep up the good work!.Version: 3.5.103

Inadequate but usefulBusyCal on the Mac is great. I use it nearly every day. However, BusyCal for iOS is woefully underpowered. While it's a useful way to see all of my to-dos at once, or to get an overview of my calendar, the lack of secondary sorting for to-dos (by priority, then creation date, for instance), and the inexcusable lack of BusyCal for Mac's premier feature, filters—where you can show any combination of categories you like instantly—drastically reduce its usefulness. The filters don't have to sync with the Mac; I may want different ones on the road anyway. But this is a crucial feature that has been bafflingly absent from this app for years. If this comes as a paid upgrade or an IAP, fine. But without it, this app is not really more useful than the stock Calendar app, and only somewhat more useful than Reminders..Version: 3.2

Please let us sync color coding 🙏It's impressive what you have built with such a small team! Really like this app The dealbreaker for me is that color of events on Mac don't sync with color of events in iOS. I color red events that I can't move (appointments) and yellow for stuff that better get done that week (Deep work, exercise) and green for free time and stuff that I might do (movies, video games, etc). I don't really want to make individual calendars for each color, I see it as adding unnecessary complexity and more points of failure to my system. I need to trust my calendar every time I see it and unfortunately I can't trust Busycal in iOS without color coding. So I am staying with Fantastical. Still, BusyCal is a great app and I wish I could use it. Fantastical already does it (single calendar, individual colors for events across all devices) and works great. I think you'd get more Fantastical customers to move over to BusyCal by adding this feature. Please prioritize this feature 🙏 Thank You.Version: 4.1.0

Great app but doesn't play nice with 3rd party keyboardsI really like using this app for my to dos and calendar. It's great but it doesn't play nice with 3rd party keyboards. I prefer to use swiftkey and gboard but they don't work in your app. The text correction part. So I have to switch to the standard apple keyboard every time I use this app. Would be nice to fix this soon..Version: 3.2

Very good startAfter using BusyCal on the Mac for many years, I was glad to see it come to iOS. This is my favorite calendar & todo app on both Mac & iOS. Good: well thought-out layout, with easy access to each view & customization of Day-Week-Month views. Better todo-calendar integration than competitors. Week view scrolls by day (not full weeks) & Month view scrolls by week (not full months) - very helpful near end of the week/month. Needs improvement: While viewing an event, must click Edit before editing some fields, rather than just clicking on the field. Day/Week views should allow creating events by touching & holding at a specific time. Can't drag events to new days in Month view (only in Week view). ToDo view should allow easy selection of which calendar(s) to view, not just how to sort todos on the screen. Fixed: font size setting for Week view (3.04). Replaced date slider with calendar picker (3.1). Create events with touch & hold in month view (3.33)..Version: 3.5.9

ExcellentThis is an excellent app, far better than the default Apple offerings & better than Fantastical too. The fact you can customise repeats now is also a huge improvement. One suggestion… the ability to hide end times for diary entries in list view..Version: 3.8.8

Still the bestI can tell you I have literally tried every single calendar app, and this is the absolute best (and no I do not work for the company😂) The ability to have you native todos in the calendar is probably the best point but I also love the way the monthly calendar views the jobs opposed to just having lines. This app is incredibly well thought out and only getting better. I honestly for the life of me cannot figure out how it is not featured more in the App Store or one of the main ones you hear about..Version: 3.5.1

Top marks…almostThis is a very good organiser for me. But there remains one gaping hole in their concept: There is no security barrier option available to protect at launch. A password/TouchID option would be a very welcome addition to what is an otherwise fine product..Version: 3.5.1

Great but…Very impressed with functionality and simplicity but…. would like to see connectivity with Apple Watch and MS Outlook. When trying to connect with Office 365 app crashes when it goes out for authorization hence 4 stars only..Version: 3.6.2

The strongest linkMy spouse has Parkinson’s. It is imperative that all meetings, outings & every other occurrences on both of our iPhones, iPads & MacBooks sync perfectly. We have been using the ‘Busy’ software since the beginning. Not only is the software stable, the people who run it are always there for support in a calm and friendly manner even when the answer is not what I had hoped for. Though it can be accessed by & from the three hardware devices I find it best to choose one MacBook as central station using the others for reference & to make quick changes on the fly. The other use for the non-central devices, especially the iPhones, is to take notes on an appointment when developing it, then take the time to fully describe it when at home. The full description is important especially when you consider that when ever you think you will remember what a short-hand will mean later… you won’t..Version: 3.11.6

Great app - long time userBusyCal is such a great app. Far more comprehensive and better screen layouts and views than apples built-in calendar. For years I didn’t use the natural text meeting entry, but you can just type a description of the meeting location times and it automatically decode this and creates the event. It’s actually surprisingly useful. Give it a try!.Version: 3.5.107

GreatBest calendar app by far just a pity no Apple Watch app.Version: 3.12.0

Desktop calendar feel on iPhoneBusyCal, more than other calendar apps, lets me feel like I can see at a glance, what’s coming up in the next days and weeks. I really like month view and how tapping on a date expands it to see details - while still staying in month view. It’s clever. It has a ‘big desk calendar’ feel - even on a small screen. Nothing is hidden or out of sight - which gives me confidence that I am not missing something. (especially great if you have a very irregular schedule). Entering dates has become easier recently in BusyCal, too - though I still prefer entering events in another calendar app (which I use just for that purpose). But when I want to see what’s on for a particular date nothing beats month view in BusyCal. I also really like how graphics pasted into BusyCal on Mac show up in BusyCal on iOS - and they are not just a limited selection of clip art - you can put any graphics in. When I’m consulting at a company on a date, for example, I put their company logo on the date as a ‘sticker’ which makes it easy to see an important event at a glance when scrolling through the calendar..Version: 4.5.7

The best on 2 frontsFor me, Busycal is the best solution for two different reasons. First, I like the available views as they are consistent with how I view my own schedule. I realize that that is highly subjective and won’t be the same for everyone, but it is absolutely the best for me. Additionally, there are enough options to customize the look and feel of the application without there being so many options that you were swimming in a sea of choices and cannot find what you were looking for. Second, I have my own Nextcloud server and I do not use iCloud services. Busycal allows me to define my Nextcloud CalDAV connection directly within the application. This means that I don’t have to create an account in Apple calendars or reminders. It also means that the updates between devices is either instantaneous or near instantaneous. This in-app support of CalDAV was a huge deal for me..Version: 3.11.12

Great calendar appI’ve recently switched to Busycal and I’m not looking back. The developers have already implemented two feature requests I’ve made in the last two months. The app gets updated regularly and a ton of few things are being added!.Version: 4.4.4

It is what I've been looking for!I absolutely love this app. Tried fantastical but BusyCal has won me over. You are able to see an overview of your week or month and drop down to see the finer details. It's so easy to use.Version: 3.1.3

Love itI had busycal 2 on the Mac but then removed it when Apple updated Calendar. Gave the new Busycal 3 on the Mac a trial yesterday and soon after bought it. Absolutely love showing my tasks of the calendar and being able to drag and drop them in the calendar. Always wanted this in a calander/task app. Decided to buy the new iOS app as there is no trial. So far so good. I've moved calendar and reminders from my iOS dock and replaced with busycal. Again, love being able to drag tasks around in my calendar. Just seems far more productive and intuitive to slot tasks into the calendar while still keeping the calendar sacred for appointments. Syncing across iCloud and Exchange has been flawless so far, let's hope that stays..Version: 3.0

Thank you for fixing the bugUpdate: 5 stars. The developer was very responsive and fixed the bug. Just a suggestion: is there a way to hide the “number of days overdue” on the Todo’s page? So that it looks less cluttered and each Todo row takes up less space..Version: 3.11.3

Larger fonts now!!THANK YOU from all of us who wear readers!!!!!!.Version: 3.4.5

Great, but room to improveHands down, this is the best calendar app! So powerful and intellectual. BUT... I have a couple of suggestions: 1) Being able to alter the alarm time on a to-do in iOS from 9am same day to something else would be good (I currently can only do this via OsX) 2) An iOS widget would be a great step.Version: 3.5.101

C’est fantastica….Et beaucoup de personalisation.Version: 3.13.2

Efficient, clean, reliable but still missing doorstop teachersGreat program on the desktop but on the I have some complaints.. On the Desktop, In the month view, one can choose to show the beginning, ending, or beginning and ending time for an appointment. On the iPad Pro none of these are available in Month view and require switching to Week view. I run a very busy schedule and find having to flip back-and-forth quite inconvenient and there seems to be enough real estate on the screen to display at the same time. Please reconsider adding that to the iOS interfaces well.Version: 3.3.8

Good but no personal O36 SupportI like the interface of BusyCal a lot. I think as a calendaring product, it’s definitely one of the nicest. My issue comes with the fact that I can’t add my personal O365 calendars. They show up fine under the iOS calendar app, but they don’t import into BusyCal, nor can they be manually added. This is really perplexing since it supposedly supports O365 and Exchange... I really wish this would get fixed so that my family calendars would show up. With that change it would be nearly perfect in my mind. Update: support contacted me and explained to use “Exchange” for the personal option (not self-explanatory imo), and this worked perfectly. Back to 5-stars even though I think maybe they could add another option for Personal/Family O365....Version: 3.5.94

Probably THE Best Calendar! But Facelift Please.I have nothing but accolades for BusyCal. I use it on iOS and Mac where I especially love the integration with BusyContacts — a superb application in its own right. My only disappointment with BusyCal — not a criticism, just a disappointment — is that visually BusyCal looks quite old & tired. I’ve been drawn back to Fantastical several times because it’s just so much more attractive. But Fantastical is not as good as BusyCal so I drop it and come back again. Functionality ultimately wins, but form is important too. I’d urge the developers to give the UI a MAJOR aesthetic overhaul and then no can beat you!.Version: 3.8.3

Best Calendar AppThis is simply, the best Calendar App, available for iOS. It’s clean and nice to look at, syncs flawlessly, with other Calendar’s and is very easy to use. It also offers sync capabilities with iOS Reminders, which is a must for a Calendar App, in my book. You can quickly add an event or to-do with all the information you need and clearly see the month you’re in, from any screen. If you are looking for a replacement Calendar for your iOS device, look no further, because BusyCal is a winner..Version: 3.2

Needs a widgetGood app, but in 2022 it’s not forgiveable to not support widgets!.Version: 3.7.6

Excellent progression of the appI’m using BusyCal for years now just because I could see calendars and todos in the same place! Absolute saver. Though the function was there they didn’t stop evolving and the interface is so easy to use, computer and phone are synched easily. Satisfied customer jere !.Version: 3.5.0

Feature neededI really like this app in general but can you add a feature that allow recurrent tasks to skip the days they were not completed for, instead of having to check them off multiple times to get it to rollover to the next day, please consider this thanks.Version: 4.6.0

Great alternative to Mac Calendar!BusyCal was accepted by my company’s InfoSec IT as a viable alternative calendar on macOS. I decided to actually remove iOS calendar and standardize on BusyCal on my iPhone and iPad. It is MUCH better than native calendar and runs circles around outlook. The only thing I wish they’d address is enabling the icon to show todays date. I leave it running on my MBP because it shows today’s date while running but in iOS, even when running, it doesn’t show todays date. Hopefully it’s in the roadmap..Version: 3.7.6

Wow, great app!First of all I really liked the app right off the bat from the description and pictures but all the bad reviews made me skeptical. Second, I am not coming from using the Mac version, I started fresh on the iOS first. I am picky on which apps I use and while I liked fantastical and calendars by readdle for functionality, I didn’t like the overlay or look of either. Having used BusyCal I think it has more functionality than the other leading calendar apps, and I haven’t had any issues in terms of stability. This Calendar is powerful and works very well, is highly customizable, and I love the look as well. My favorite part is the to-do integration and how it allows you to filter and sort your to-do’s: a lot of options here! I hope this app gets more positive feedback as I believe it deserves it. Keep up the good work devs!.Version: 3.3.8
