✓ Best neobank since Simple was shutdown by the piranhasMonzo USA is the best neobank since Simple Bank was shutdown by the piranhas. I have opened accounts with One, Envel, Discover, BBVA, PNC and CFCU and none come remotely close to offering the features Simple had, except Monzo USA. That said, the lack of access from a standard PC, except for the bare essential and feature limited (read nonexistent) emergency browser, is a major limiter and prevents me from using Monzo for all my finances as I was able to with Simple Bank. As such, I use Monzo daily while at the same time searching monthly for a replacement nenobank that has all the features Simple Bank offered before being shutdown..Version: 5.7.0

✓ Switching to Starling - for a silly reasonI’ve had monzo for >5 years now and love the app, am pretty sure it inspired this whole generation of banking apps including Starling. I can’t say I’ve had any problems with it - but Unfortunately it wouldn’t let me set up a joint account with my s/o and it wouldn’t explain why. With starling we set up a joint account immediately and otherwise it does the same job monzo does. Some people would be happy with two apps but I like everything in one place so sorry to say goodbye to Monzo ! They don’t specify what they’re requirements are for joint accounts so you may have success where we didn’t. Otherwise quality app and no problems with service. ✓ So far, AMAZINGI was on my shift at work and saw a fair amount of people walking in with these “Monzo” cards. They looked really nice, especially the coral one! I made sure I remembered the name of the brand on the card and then when I got home I researched into it! It looked amazing! I immediately downloaded the app and signed up. My card came within 2 days and I activated my account instantly! At first I was a little skeptical of a bank solely running on an app, but Monzo is protected by the “FSCS” meaning money in your account with Monzo is protected up to £85,000 which is piece of mind! Within 3 days of getting used to Monzo and having a little play around I switched from Lloyds! I love Monzo! It really is what a bank should be in this day and age. Rather than having to adapt to technology (Like traditional banks), it’s built on it! The app is clean and easy to use, and pots are amazing! Why hasn’t anyone else don’t this!!! Pots! They are awesome! They are little pots that you can create instantly and just put some money in there to separate it from your current account so you don’t spend it! One problem with the Monzo app is the “Create a joint account” button does not seem to be working. I can’t seem to find anywhere in the app to report the “Bug” (If it is one) But other than that it’s amazing and I would recommend it to anyone who I came across! (in fact I have😂).Version: 3.57.0

✓ Great to use internationallyI find the US Monzo account limited with its offerings BUT on my first trip after COVID-19 I used it all throughout Europe and it is FANTASTIC! There are NO international MasterCard fees and they give you a reasonable exchange rate. When you pay, choose “USD” not the local currency and Monzo does the exchange. I love the fact it breaks down the purchases into categories. Also, Europe is notorious for ATM card skimming. By keeping a lower balance on my Monzo I limit my risk. I also use it instead of my regular bank card for cash withdrawals. I must say I like it and it’s practically the only card I use. Would love to see them do a Credit Card like Chime as you need a CC for many airlines and hotels App is recommended.Version: 3.94.0

✓ Online bank without the downsides and great supportIn my experience, most online banks are great until you need something slightly unusual, like a check deposit or a bank statement physically mailed to you. Then you might often want a traditional bank. Monzo seems to actually do both exceptionally well. I was able to deposit checks, which other apps don’t seem to be able to do (eg Revolut). Plus, you can request a physical statement to be sent to you to be used as proof of address. Overall, Monzo has great customer support unlike other apps where you just speak to a robot. For me, the peace of mind that gives me is more important than almost anything. Having tried a few apps, Monzo is my absolute favourite!.Version: 5.42.0
✓ Lots of potentialI like the instant funding option - very convenient. Setting certain transactions as repeating payments is a very nice feature for subscriptions and under the “Payments” tab you can see these recurring payments. I like that you can add notes, tags and receipts to every transaction. The budgeting tool is not very helpful to me personally, but the Trends feature is - it helps to see how you’re using your money. The Pots have a “scheduled payments” option, but it should really say “scheduled transfers” because Pots are not for making payments - they are just to set money aside. To use money from Pots you have to transfer it back to main account. If I could make payments directly from a “Bills” Pot with its own account number then “scheduled payments” would make sense and would be a very useful feature. Spend (checking), Savings and Bills - if I had a separate account number for these three along with some cash back or rewards options on purchases, it would be the perfect banking app for me. It’s really easy to link multiple credit cards and set a target for my monthly spending that takes into account all my credit cards plus my debit card. Also, separating your balance into several smaller sub-accounts (“pots”) that you can name is surprisingly useful, and setting up specific merchants to spend from certain pots makes it a lot easier to stay on top of my budget..Version: 5.60.0

✓ DubiousAs great as the bank is I mean the app.. it’s features the ease of use, simplicity, all of the above one thing concerns me is that should I lose my phone I’ve lost all the connection to my money. If I play out the scenario I lose my phone, I’ve lost my sim… I talk to my sim provider they will send me a new sim… fine depends on post arriving on time. I could therefore be without my money for 5-7 days. This is the reality of the situation. If Monzo had a working online presence in order to transfer funds to a spouses account that would give people more peace of mind. I did have this bank as my main account but when my phone starting to play up I thought long and hard. This is a suggestion thatMonzo should really think about and it will revolutionise your ability for people to have access to their money…. ✓ Highly Recommended for US CustomerI do like the idea but there is no credit card. It’s a online bank only. If they issue a credit card (visa preferred) it will be cherry on top of the cake. I like Monzo’s online bank but I would like them to have a credit card with it. ✓ Only 1 Thing Wrong with MonzoLove Monzo, great app functionality and customer service. Could even look past the annoyance of having to POST cheques rather than being able to take photos (functionality that banks such as HSBC offer). However, the reason myself and my husband have had to leave Monzo, is the bizarreness of trying to open a joint account together. Tried many many times. It looks like the app is glitching out and the button just not working, but when you contact the web chat, it turns out this means it won’t let you. And the worst part - they can’t tell you the reason why. Starling has let us open a joint account immediately so clearly there were no issues with credit scores, financial history etc. Have seen posts online from people having had similar struggles..Version: 5.7.0

✓ ConcernedBeen with Monzo a month now and already been in embarrassing situations where the app doesn’t work or my card when shopping , I had to have all my Christmas food shopping put back by the shop I have shopped in for years , it was humiliating. I could get cash out . I ended up transferring money to another account I have with another bank and going back to the shop all over again being watched by staff. I feel I can’t go in the shop again . I suffer with panic attacks and this made me worse. ✓ Top customer service | Amazing bankI have Monzo for 5-6 years (we are in oct 2023). If there is one thing I can say, the customer service is amazing, so easy to access with the webchat. Replacing a card, reporting fraud, adding cash on the account via paypoint, saving money on a different account with interest… It is so easy and functional. Their customer service is absolutely outstanding, I remember once, my bank card were stolen and used. This situation put me in real difficulties because I couldn’t do anything like taking transport to go to work etc… I remember that a special service of their team contacted me to know if I was ok, if I needed support in any way… the message (letter) they sent me were so compassionate and encouraging. At that time my moral were very bad and I was so anxious about the loss I had and my capacity to move forward. I didn’t ask for more support at that time, but just to receive a message, a human supportive message made me find the strength to move forward until the fraud issue were solved. Really it is rare in this world to have such a good customer service, with people professional and emotionally there for you. ✓ The best bank everI’ve been with Monzo since 2017 and was originally a beta user of the prepaid card. It’s grown from strength to strength. As soon as they had their banking licence I moved from a high street bank to Monzo and never looked back. A year ago I also moved my business account to Monzo, again never looked back. I also use Monzo flex which is great. I just wish I could pay the flex payments every month from my joint account and not from my personal account. This would avoid having to transfer money every month from joint to personal, as my joint account is the account I use for all my banking. Overall an absolutely amazing bank, customer service is excellent and the app is the best out there..Version: 5.59.0
✓ Patrick DentI’ve been a “full Monzo” customer (meaning I use it as my primary account) for over two years! In that time it has completely revolutionised how I bank. My salary comes straight into Monzo and I can get it a day early (or three if it’s due on a Monday). Instant credit and spending notifications coupled with a brilliant app and a distinctive card puts many banks with outdated technology and attitudes to Shame. Yes there have been issues (always quickly sorted) and it won’t be right for everyone especially if you like popping into a branch for a chinwag. But if you want no nonsense crap free and safe banking then give Monzo a try. I did and haven’t ever regretted my decision and will stay as long as they’ll have me. 👍.Version: 3.63.0

I wasn’t sure to start with, so had a token amount of money in the account and only rarely used it, until I travelled. It changed what I expected from my old bank - while overseas and day to day. As a result I used a function in the app and switched everything across to Monzo. Haven’t looked back! If in doubt, give it a try with a small amount of money like I did. Monzo is simple, it does what it needs and is very intuitive to use (and is actually quiet nice to look at). The thing that really sealed the seal for me was that when I was a victim of some minor fraud (someone else ordering takeaways on my card somehow) Monzo enabled me to freeze my card (and un-freeze it for a few minutes to buy my lunch while at work), then use the chat to talk to an actual person (a rare experience these days) who refunded me my lost money! And got a card sent out to me in a day or so! The only things I can think of to improve Monzo would be if you could rename the categories in the spend tracking options? ✓ The bestI’ve been with Monzo since 2017. Initially to see what the excitement was about, but immediately switched and made it my main account when it became possible. I’ve sent many friends and family their way and will continue to do so. I was actually just talking to a friend about a new feature which is what prompted me to write this review. Things are just so simple with the app. Things that are unnecessarily complicated with other banks is a few taps with Monzo, with all the information you need, clearly laid out. There are constant new features added, lots of perks and they genuinely make banking quite fun, as strange as that is to say. Monzo flex is just an astounding product when it comes to credit. The flexibility and control, the information you have before and after, the ability to flex something further down the line - simply amazing. If you’re on the fence, give it a go, you will not regret it. Early payments for wages. Flex. Cash back. High interest, instant withdrawal savings pots, excellent money management features, travel and phone insurance, digital cards for online purchases, the list goes on and on. ✓ Best Online Bank By Miles!!Monzo has literally changed my life.. just simply making use of its capabilities has tripled my credit rating, I was unable to get finance on anything because I took out loans when I was 18 without thinking. I’m now 30 and have struggled financially up until the last year and that’s purely because Monzo allow you to arrange, plan, and literally see into the future by pre warning you of upcoming payments and it can predict these automatically, I have a fantastic overdraft and pay 15 per month for their services that help me plan out my life over months, the way it saves money for you is just perfect, you totally forget it’s shaving small amounts of your payments and adding it to your savings pot. ✓ Terrible customer serviceThere’s a lot I love about Monzo. However, there is a serious bug in the app which meant I was physically unable to make a payment to my Flex account, ultimately resulting in a high interest charge. Every time I tried to make the payment, I received an error message saying something had gone wrong and to try again later. This never went away. I have spent weeks trying to get help with the issue and have found their customer service team very friendly but extremely slow and unhelpful. It now feels like they are actively choosing not to resolve the issue, and it has led me to decide to stop using the Flex service. It’s useful being able to use interest-free lending, but not an app bug forces interest charges where they are not needed or wanted. I really hope they solve this problem but, for now, I would recommend not using Monzo Flex..Version: 5.15.0
✓ Absolutely AmazingI originally saw people paying with Monzo when I used to work in retail. I’ve been with Monzo for over 2 years now. They are by far the best Bank I have had dealings with, you can see the time and effort that goes into this online bank and I am 100% sure others like me really appreciate how simple and easy going this bank is. The reason why I’m writing this review is because they recently temporarily blocked my account for unusual activities, which can be distressing to see however I have done the same sort of transactions with my other bank accounts and not one of them flagged that as suspicious. Which weirdly enough doesn’t give me much confidence in holding my funds in those other accounts. The whole process of Monzo blocking my account didn’t really scare me or cause me much distress as they directed me towards a blog which gave me all the information on what I need to know and it gave me a peace of mind. ✓ Banking refreshed!Within a few days of having Monzo, I’d transferred my salary and all direct debits to them, set up a joint account with my partner and have been using them as my main bank for 11 months now. If you are still on the fence about signing up, DO IT! That coral card is the way forward! My bank statement is so easy to read and understand, and I like the feature of showing upcoming payments and being able to set up a budget. I LOVE the savings pots, especially the round up option which really does add up quicker than you’d ever think. I love how you can instantly request money from other monzo users and instantly accept/decline those requests. And of course, the instant notifications which meant I instantly saw when someone had stolen my card and was able to freeze it seconds after they used it and immediately speak to someone to solve the issue and had a new card two days later. What a fantastic bank!! My fave feature is definitely being able to get paid at 4pm the day before payday!! No words for how much I love dragging that money into the wallet. A fabulous and fun little animation! ✓ HolidaysI love using Monzo, but one problem I always seem to have when I’m away is that it’s very difficult to transfer money when I’m off-line. If there is any way that Monzo could have a look at this particular issue it would be fantastic both I’m sure for me and for many other people? Otherwise it’s an amazing piece of kit. You always advise us when money has been taken from your account which could be extremely useful if somebody got hold of your card unlawfully? Using a Monzo card whilst you’re away from home is extremely useful, and it is also much cheaper than other types of cards. ✓ Game changerI’ve had Monzo for a few years now, and closed my other bank accounts in favour of Monzo. The service is sublime, any questions / problems are rectified through app in minimal time, and they offer the best exchange rates with no foreign transaction costs, which has saved me £100’s when backpacking. ✓ An amazing, life-changing productAs a person with ADHD, I have always struggled with money and saving. Monzo has completely changed the way I manage my money, and I am saving money left and right in my baby savings pots. Because I automate everything, and there’s a visual tie to the things I’m saving for (trip with my best friend, furniture, house upgrades), I leave the money alone. I used Monzo in the UK when I lived there as well as here in the US. The US version is definitely buggier (I can’t update the Start Date when I want to update a savings goal, so I have to delete the goal and start fresh). I also wish transfers were as fast as they were in the UK, but alas. It’s all good. I tell all my friends about Monzo! Automating goals for savings is the frigging greatest thing ever. I also love having a separate Expenses pot. I then never get into a situation where I wouldn’t be able to cover my bills. Keep at it, Monzo!.Version: 5.70.1

I read in an online review (amongst hundreds) that besides AMEX cards (which I don’t have and don’t need another cc)… that Monzo works with SmartEx. And it’s true. I was able to register on SmartEx with my Monzo card and just right now, successfully booked my Shinkansen tickets with my Monzo card.
