✓ Pay to play, pay to win, poor customer serviceThis game is similar to loot box mechanics in that you have to “pull” units from a summon pool in order to use them. Over time the game has become so power crept making the units you spent $$ on pulling 2 months ago irrelevant and outclassed by the new time limited unit you can only get right now before it’s gone forever. Customer service is non-existent, and they basically tell players to go screw themselves. They won’t help you whatsoever, even if you’re adversely affected by faulty mechanics implemented by their poor development staff that literally try to push out new features (ahem, more things to buy each week), before taking care of the existing game and player base. You can play for years and the developers won’t care about you, just the whales that shell out thousands of dollars to be relevant in the game. There’s no challenging content whatsoever in this game, just a cute 16 bit pixelated unit you can spend money on to add to your collection that gets shelved in a month. ✓ I love the game but connection issues hold back 2*The connection issues are horrifying. My iPhone, iPad and kindle all experience significant connection issues. My wifi is very good and I can be sitting two feet from the modem, other wifi devices not in use/turned off, not on VPN or airplane mode and nothing running in the background and it doesn’t. The issues persist. For my kindle it is very frequent crashes to desktop or sudden connection issues followed by “please login”. For my apple devices it is connection issues followed by “please login” followed by please resync your device to your account. It happens so that I have actually missed story content and needed to watch a friend go through it to see what happened. It is worse on the apple devices but only just. My phone is updated but a little old but my iPad is not. It is new and completely updated as well. ✓ Full of bugsThe latest release of this game is extremely buggy. The mechanics do not work on iOS as ‘chaining’ is a fundamental part of this game and the iOS interface does not allow this to work after Gumi have patched the only way to make it work properly. ✓ Not worth playingI started playing this game 6 days ago and during those 6 days I’ve had good and bad experiences about this game. This game has many features in the games and has many creative and artistic designed units which makes it very attractive. However, the issue is the fact that you have to constantly download the game every time you log back in is ridiculous. Literally takes 15minutes for me to get depending on what phone you use or how much storage you have which wasted my time. Another issue is when you tap into another map you still have to constantly download back to get into another map. This kept me annoyed about this game. The game has so much potential just like brave frontier however, the issue about this game is that it after you’ve completed all of the maps and completed every single stage of the map (including missions) there’s not much you can do to obtain more Espers. This game gives you less opportunities to earn Espers which is a pain in the head. Although this game isn’t hard to complicated to play once you get use to it but still takes ridiculous amount of time to try and save/earn Espers. ✓ SADCompletely disappointed, less than 4 hours played and already stuck in a fight (cannot escape, cannot die health does not go below 1 and the boss has a huge amount of hp that i take 1% in 10-15min). ✓ Long time player - UnhappyI have been playing this game for two years. Though the game is inherently good, the company running it has been slowly eroding the confidence I, and others, have in this game. Of course the main premise of this game is gacha. A new system implemented about a month ago requires two copies of the same rare unit to evolve it to its strongest level (7*). In order to offset for the much lower likelihood of pulling two units, the Japanese origin of this game implemented a “unit of choice” summon. This allowed all 5 star base (e.g. rare) units to be pulled after collecting 10 tickets. In the Japanese version of this game, you can get two per mog event (monthly event). Global a first version of this only allows 1 ticket to be summoned. This essentially makes a unit of choice unit obtainable every YEAR rather than half a year. And then the truncated the pool from ALL 5 star units to only the select few that can be upgraded to 7 star. What if the player wants a specific unit for nostalgia, team composition, or their trust mastery? That coupled with very stingy daily log in rewards, poor communication, and various bugs (some even known from the first content roll out in the Japanese version) are causing me to write this review. I’ve been playing daily for about two years, unless things drastically change for the better my time with this game will end. ✓ Used to be amazingI’ve played this almost every day since launch. I used to love it, but it’s become garbage over the past 6-9 months. Now it’s just a boring summoning casino with nothing else to do. The same 2-3 types of recycled weekly content for over a year has become more than stale. The time between new actual challenges has become massive, and when they do come out they’re either trivial due to unchecked powercreep or have ridiculously complicated patterns that basically require a Gantt chart to navigate or else you wipe. The global team also appears to be barely competent, based on the same bugs from the JP version showing up with every new app version, inconsistently scheduled and unnecessarily long weekly maintenance windows, and other bugs in global exclusive content. Of course, this doesn’t prevent them from pushing out laughably-priced bundles along with near-constant limited-time banners to maximize their short-term profits while discouraging and deterring the vast majority of the playerbase. It’s a shame what Alim and Gumi have done with such a beloved franchise, really. There is nothing celebratory about “spend $80 and you might get a chance to get this character!” And then borderline locking any viability to clear content behind a paywall of less than 1-3% chance of getting what you need. ✓ The drop rates are criminal.In any unit summon apart from the guaranteed 5* summon. Your chance to pull a 5* is a mere 3%. And let’s be honest here. Anything less than a 5* base unit is just filler. A lot of the 5* units themselves are just garbage. The game asks for a massive grind, with minimal reward. This games also loves to slap you in the face when you use 10+1 summons, quite often giving you the 1 4* unit and the rest are 3*, and most 3* base units are only fit for the bin. And then there’s the shop where you spend actual money. It’s ridiculously overpriced. I mean a lot of the time they’re pricing a bundle with a single 5* unit pull (you don't even get to choose which one) thrown in with a load of random items that you rarely need and an amount of lapis for around £50! And some bundles are priced at £100 with similar rewards! Only addicts, imbeciles and people with more money than sense will go for this. In a nut shell this game is designed to exploit the Final Fantasy fan base and squeeze as much money out of you as possible whilst relentlessly spitting in their faces and laughing about it. ✓ Good game but....This is honestly a good game. It fills a lot of boredom gaps throughout the day. It’s also the one game I’ve played that makes me hate the Square Enix name. Banners are like impossible goals to some and part of me feels that Gumi pre-determines your character pool at the star of your game. If you have a favorite character that comes and goes, your chance of getting him/her are very very VERY slim unless your chosen to get it. The drop percentages mean nothing. For example... Cloud and Sephiroth comes out, everyone wants the naturally. You save up 50 tickets, countless 5 star or 10+1 guarantees, use them all over a period of a few days and not get either. However, you get 17 of the same other characters on the banner. Then what makes it worse, you do your daily arena burn and run across someone that was able to pull 5 cloud/sephiroths. The games dynamics are completely flawed for a fair balance and I think that’s hurt the fan base. For me, I tend to get tanks and mages, nothing else. If they can find a way to fix their biased system, it would be an amazing experience but honestly I’m tired of my rainbow pulls being the same 2-3 I already have, especially when you pull directly from an event banner. ✓ Enough Is EnoughThis game used to be great. But look at the differences between the JP version and the GL version. Gumi took away half the Unit of Choice tickets you could earn in a Mog King event, delayed the 7* updates, botched out Unit of Choice tickets in the September Login Rewards, ONLY HALF OF THE 7* BATCHES IN GL THAN IN JP, reduced ticket rewards per month to force players into whaling more, constant step up banners that don’t even have good rates on the units one would want most, changing the 10+1 ticket rewards to a 5+1 ticket, put more emphasis on EX tickets than standard tickets we could use on ANY BANNER WE WANTED TO, whereas EX tickets only work from a pool of standard units instead of new banners, hotfixing bugs that benefit the players and “apologizing for the inconvenience” within a few hours and almost completely ignoring the actual bugs that inconvenience the players for a few weeks, terrible bundles, a huge lack of communication... It just feels like Gumi is intentionally ruining the game by having the JP version gain much more benefits compared to the GL version. The greed is clear as day, and I’m simply disappointed. This list doesn’t even contain half the main issues of what Gumi’s doing to the game... If you play this game, don’t whale on it. ✓ Dead/ dying gameI love Final Fantasy and this game gives you that old-school turn based boss fight experience with your favourite characters. Unfortunately it’s a sloppy mobile game otherwise. The claim all rewards button is broken, meaning you have to individually claim each mission reward and you get four for every story mission btw, which makes this tedious. You can’t skip missions once you’ve aced them, like in other mobile games. This means you have to battle each and every time which makes farming on a character farming game very tedious. The game seems to be fairly dead in summer 2023, I still have yet to find someone who’s friend list isn’t full. When I search for friends I get mostly results with people who haven’t played in years or failed friend request attempts. The panel quests and rewards don’t unlock unless you can find a friend on this game, which is very difficult when seemingly everyone’s friend lists are full and results for player searches to find friends are people that don’t play anymore. Meaning I haven’t even unlocked panel quests after two weeks. This game needs quality of life upgrades and some refinements so active players can find and connect with other active players easier. Even if you were to pay money into this game, there’s no real value when the game is in this kind of shape. Even F2P there’s little value in playing this game in its current state. ✓ A once-good game being ruined.I have been playing for over 2 years, and used to spend a few bucks here and there on some decent bundles. Before the 7-Star system, ads getting put in, and having to try to search through 20+ extremely watered down summon banners (they literally have like 22 up as I write this), the game was a ton of fun. The straw that’s broken the camels back for me was customer support, however; 3 times in a row I was either double-charged or didn’t receive bundles I’d purchased. I would send screenshots and receipts to customer service, only to be told I had to deal with apple. Naturally, after sending everything to apples customer support, apple would tell me i had to deal with the apps manufacturer. Eventually the apps customer service would either give me a paltry amount of lapis as compensation, or try to refer me back to apple. To top everything off, now you pretty much get pigeonholed into having to use a particular handful of 7 Star units (and a lot are not even FF- they keep spamming made-up garbage that you have to get 4 of to actually fully power up) to clear any of the games more difficult content. 99% of the units you get are completely useless..Xxx-danksmekjfknoscope-xxcVersion: 3.4.3

I love the fact that most ff characters are playable, the battle mechanics are great, bosses are TOUGH AS NAILS, events come and go every month or two weeks. GUMI, the developer/global owner whatever they are, is NOT CONSCIOUS of the players. I can probably say that a lot of players are younger ppl; not with full careers, living paycheck to paycheck, f2p players. But they offer the most outrageous “deals”, such as 46$ US for a 10+1 summon where you cant choose your 5* unit. I can see more people spending money like that IF MORE CONTROL WAS GIVEN TO THE PLAYER. For example, the summon pool for 5* is massive; letting the players CHOOSE would greatly increase players throwing money at gumi. The prices are getting ridiculous. They wont be seeing a penny from me, and its situations like the above mentioned that drive people to be free to play, thus making gumi lose out on those players that DID pay even if it was one bundle a month. Strategy is just as important as top units. And that includes building out the units you have strategically and planning your teams. This wouldn’t necessarily be a problem, since the Japanese version of this game became much more generous with ways to get 5 stars in general and even made a system that lets you choose a specific 5 star to get every few months. This version instead reacted by becoming even stingier with 5 stars. The monthly login rewards have actually gotten worse since January-March, and the unit-of-choice system is being neutered. Instead of being able to pick any 5 star every 2-3 months, even if they’re brand new, this game only lets you pick from a small pool of 5 stars where new units are only added weeks after they became available. If the current pace continues, you would only be able to pick a unit every 6 months, which is absurdly slow. I really hope that Gumi will turn their policies around because this is a very fun game, but until they do I’m not going to spend any more money on it and would not recommend starting to play..OorochiVersion: 3.1.0

Under their “Help Tab” they say they can find it using several ways. Since I didn’t have my player ID I gave them as much of the information as I could. I even gave them transaction dates with amount and Order ID, which is something they literally ask for under the “help” section. Yeah…forget it…once you start talking to someone EVERYTHING on that tab gets thrown out and the only thing that matters to them is the player ID or Inquiry ID. You can have EVERYTHING they ask for but your Player ID and even give them specific transactions that you’d think would be linked to and identify the profile, but nope! They don’t care about all that, it gets ignored and ends up being about player ID. What’s the point of giving requirements if they don’t matter anyway? Be patient, be patient patient patient, even if you don’t get the unit you want, you can always try again. Don’t hope for units either, blowing all your lapis on one spawn can be devastating in the long run. Try to build off of the units you already have and you’ll see a lot more success long term wise. And they come out with biweekly events, so don’t worry about getting bored. There’s only one flaw in this game in my opinion, and it isn’t bugs, it isn’t spawns, it’s the NRG system. However, the end game is really difficult unless you pull a couple of super strong units and the 1% rainbow rate and no guaranteed rainbow on a 10+1 makes it very difficult to get those units. The battles have to be done in a very precise manner or else you will lose. The story mode is mediocre. Side stories and story events do flesh out the characters somewhat, but it’s hard to get invested in the characters that get introduced without much development. Plus Jake and Lid have no chemistry, and Lid is 16 and Jake is 27 so please do not put them together. It’s creepy. As said above, the gacha is extremely unforgiving and is the main reason why I am keeping my rating at a 1*. If the rainbow rate can be 8-10% instead of 1%, and there would be a guaranteed rainbow on 10+1 pulls, it would certainly improve my rating and perhaps get me to spend money. It would make it a 4* at least, and moving some of the utterly useless 3* with really bad trust masteries to the friend summon pool would make it a 5* and would make the game worth reinstalling..Craig C.
