42 Dominoes for Positive User Reviews

Texas 42 deal biased toward opposing teamAfter several plays I noticed that the opposing team almost always was bidding and had better hands than the home team. Went thru more than 20 deals where either one or NO doubles were dealt and frequently the doubles had no supporting trump spots. Opposing team always seems to be able to magically set up a cross trump tricks. Deal needs to be much more statistically balanced and unbiased..Version: 2.0

Needs TweakingMy computer partner won the bid. I had high trump and took the lead. When I played a double, my partner trumped it when they had an off domino that they should have played. They didn’t play it. I have the paid version and had the level of each player maxed out. Is this app still updated periodically? I’d love to see that improved. It would greatly increase the quality of this awesome game..Version: 3.0

Addictive, lol!Easy and fun to play!.Version: 2.0

Fun gameAlthough the level of play is poor unless you pay for better play I still enjoy it. My problem is not being able to see what your partner was holding when then hand is finished. Your menu blocks it..Version: 2.0

Computer isn’t always very smartThe computerized partner will make bad moves like bidding 2 marks when you’re only 1 mark from winning and then losing the second trick because they didn’t have a high trump. If you move the difficulty up to hard you spend more time passing than playing. At that point you need to pay to force the last person to bid. It would be nice to be able to bid Plunge or to make the partner be a little smarter like not playing a trump to steal the lead from you when they have the last trump left and you’re trying to finish by playing a bunch of doubles..Version: 3.0

Awesome!I’m really enjoying this game, I hadn’t played this version of dominoes before and it’s a lot of fun. The “hint” feature is sometimes a bit whack but overall great game..Version: 2.0

Enjoying this game a lot!Things I like about it: - easy to just pick up and play a few matches. Play is fast. - the in-app purchases for partner skill and difficulty are not flawless but they are very good. I tracked my stats and this is definitely a good feature proven out through stats. - the tracking of win / loss statistics is awesome - the background music, believe it or not I leave it on and it’s nice. Suggested improvements : - how about adding a “sevens hand” bid? We used to play a hand similar to follow-me where you have to play dominoes totaling as close to seven as possible. Very fun. - how about adding online play so I can challenge my friends? The online 42 apps that I have found offering multiplayer are not good, this app could rule the roost! Overall very fun app, reminds me of sitting at the kitchen table with my roommates back in aggieland..Version: 3.0

FrustratingI really like playing this game, but why oh why is your partner such a bad player?!? Routinely your partner will trump your winning play, only to have a bad off domino left in his hand?!?! He’s got the last trump, but instead of saving it until he needs it, he takes your already won double domino trick. Also, he will lead the 10 point 6/4 domino when both the 6/6 and 6/5 is still outstanding. Also, why does he routinely keep leading a trump domino knowing his partner is the only player left with trumps? Frustrating!!.Version: 3.0

Good, but needs workI love 42 plain and simple… this game has the potential to be great, since there are not many options on the market. I biggest complaint is the fact that I do not get to choose my dominoes, they are chosen for me plus I get the left overs. I also do not like the fact that my “partner” rarely bids, especially when given the option to have a “smart” partner. I would also like to see the option for “plunge”bidding (4marks). Aside from these few complaints, I do enjoy the game..Version: 3.0

Texas 42Since age 7 I was taught the game of 42 and still love playing it. I feel the game needs to go to 7 marks (ALL) or 250. I feel the deals are to calculated and not like real shuffling. I do not know if you of know what a “plunge” is but it should be added. Overall the game is good. The major sticking point for me is the leading of trumps back even though you and your partner are the only ones that have them..Version: 2.0

Needs workThis is good for new player training. However you will soon see that the game repeats often On top of that your partner will do stupid moves, like bidding Blanks as trumps but not having a single trump. This after paying for a smart partner. In the end it’s not worth the money you pay because it is poorly written..Version: 3.0

Decent gameIf you could add player vs player option that would be wonderful, but continue to have the player vs computer option for times when player availability is low. I agree with the other comments the Computer partner is not desirable. But all in all it is a good tool to use to help those less experienced learn the basics of the game..Version: 3.0

Fun way to unwind at the end of the day! This is like the 42 I learned to play except for the way doubles count when I play Nelo. I played that doubles are their own suit, but in this game they count the same way as in regular play. I love how the game moves along and you don’t have to wait for someone to make up their mind about bidding..Version: 2.0

AI needs a LOT of workI’ve been playing 42 for 30+ years now and the AI plays like a partner that just learned the rules last week. Even if you pay for the smarter partner upgrade (would not recommend) it’ll still overbid you (like you’ve got a 36 pt hand and your AI partner will go NIL), or it’ll call blanks as trumps even if they only hold 0:1 as their only blank, or play the 5:5 with 0:5 and 4 trumps still standing. Asking the developer to PLEASE look into this. The AI plays like someone who I’d get in a fist fight with over a game..Version: 3.0

Drives Me CrazyThis is a great 42 game but your partner will bid in blanks every time if they don’t have a good hand and you force bidding. Your partner will also lead trump back at you and pull your last trump out of your hand when only the two of you have trump. I’ve had my partner bid in blanks and only have one low blank in their hand..Version: 3.0

“Smart” partner still not too helpfulThis game is great if you just want the ability to play 42 solo. However, I paid for the smart partner upgrade and my partner makes too high of bids based on their hands (causing us to set), trumps in when unnecessary, and plays a losing domino when they have an ace left in their hand. Very frustrating for competitive people, like myself..Version: 2.0

Great game, no ads!I really like playing this game, and I really love the fact that it has NO ADS. I recently learned to play 42 with real dominoes, so this has been a fun way to get better on my own. I’m playing with the mark scoring option, and I only wish I could adjust the number of marks (3 marks wins a game) without having to pay to unlock the feature, but overall, I’m super happy with the free version of this game!.Version: 3.0

I agree with previous reviewIt’s pretty obvious that whoever wrote the program has limited knowledge of this game. The previous fellow mentioned partners having all trumps remaking and yet the partner eats up the trumps before exhausting all other playable dominoes. Bidding over 31 in fours without the 6:4 in hand. Goes set immediately unless your partner has it. I could go on but you get my drift. I continue to play it because it is on my phone..Version: 3.0

Works wellThis app looks nice, works smoothly and intuitively, and seems to play fairly. It has been a good way for me to learn 42. My main gripe is that they want $15 for the paid version with better AI and some other setup options. I’d happily pay $5, maybe even $10, but $15 seems excessive. The following features would be useful: highlight count dominoes; let me move and flip dominoes in my hand to make evaluating it easier; ability to replay a hand..Version: 3.0

Great fun and memoriesI played 42 dominoes as a kid with the adults and loved it. I like that this app has settings for multiple skill levels. I’ve played easy to remember how to play as well as practicing. I’ve really enjoyed it a lot. It’s also easy to play a quick round or even a quick game. I can play a round in 2-5 min and a game in 5-7 min. Love it..Version: 2.0
