✓ A young app with great potentialI love Blocs, I've been playing with it for a few days in conjunction with Launchpad app. Admittedly, I've spent quite a few more bucks buying add-ons, but to me, it has been worth the results of being able to easily mix so many genres of music. The resulting fusion has been both rewarding and exciting. I'd like to think that at some point in future the developers will either add a more DAW-centric extension for adding extra arrangement and compositional elements, or perhaps just helping get some inter app compatibility with something like GarageBand iOS. Still, these are early days. I've come across no bugs and as already stated, the results of quick experimentation are very rewarding..Version: 12.0

✓ My go to sampling appEspecially since as of a few updates ago Launchpad packs open in Blocs, this is usually where I lay out the framework for a track. I dig into different loops and tempos, keys, until I get a vibe I’m really liking, then I export it out elsewhere and flesh it out more. Sometimes I swap the loops out, sometimes not, but regardless the sound you get out of this app (and more importantly the inspiration) is worth every bit of time and money put into it..Version: 13.4.6

✓ Almost superbI created a track in this app, exported it to launchpad where I wanted to continue adding with sounds I have in there, but that is not possible. Once you export a file to launchpad, you can only then add/edit additional files back in blocs wave! What's the point in exporting it then, other than for the FX feature which I don't use 🙄.Version: 12.1

✓ In the top 5 best music appsIntuitive & easy to use, Blocs Wave still has phenomenal creative range when the available (small fee) tools are used. The sound packs are varied, creative, of high quality musicianship and production value, and are also fairly priced (about the cost of a cola). I’m already able to create inspiring sketches in a matter of minutes, but I’m also looking forward to the possibility of new tools such as high and low pass filters as well as the possibility of more detailed sample manipulation. ✓ Love it!Love it but hasn’t seen much development to the user interface. Would love to be able to hold and move blocs from one space to another. Would also love to be able to quickly search for specific sounds such as flute, violin etc. Would love to have effects and the ability to resample. Koala sampler has had this from the beginning. Still I absolutely love this app and can’t recommend it enough. Thank you Ampify for Blocs Wave but please continue to develop it for us power users who have used it from the beginning. ✓ This for real scoring productionsI’m able to track all midi files and exports within one domain. I can travel with my sounds and draft chord keys, tempo, and sequencing. It’s an excellent tool. I consider if the app would sync to other formats of midi besides Ablenton Live, It will be a hit. I’m trying to sequence a Roland MV8000 for old ADAT tape format..I know legacy stuff! ✓ Can get some nice groovesI like using blocs wave to sketch out some ideas and then sometimes export to launchpad to do a fuller mix. I am not a serious musician as such more of a djing background in dance music which blocs wave suits my needs well. ✓ One of the best!!!!This all sat in my phone for a month before I got bored and began exploring it. Omg I can’t believe how powerful but amazingly simple to use little app. I’ve been looking for this!!!! Yeah it doesn’t have the advanced editing features some of my others have but it’s still super fun to play around with. I’ve made a couple bangers already. Awesome that you can’t shoot it over to Launchpad so you can play your “clips” individually almost like an Ableton environment. I hooked up my Launchpad mini and was super excited but unfortunately it doesn’t work with that app even though on the box it says it does. Man if I could build em all in Blocs Wave, shoot the individual shots over to launchpad app, plugin the mini, open GarageBand or Fl Studio or whatever DAW you want and use the IAA to have your launchpad and record? Hell I might never ever need a laptop again. AMPIFY PLEASE MAKE IT SO!!!! I will love and support you forever! Haha Edit: I just read on Launchpads info that it does do that but only with iPad. ✓ Removed until it can sample without a third party crutchIt been transformed into a daft third party content loop player that barely work with audio buss any more. And offer the most important superpower for an iOS device…the ability to HOST anything on the iPad internally without a third party host like AUM or audio buss. This may be fine for some users but I'm blind in one eye and have difficulty reading the very small script, so please, please just increase the font size by 50% and make the contrast greater and it will be a truly useable and fine addition to iPad music apps..Version: 2.0

✓ A lot of fun!I couldn’t possibly call myself a proper musician, yet this app has led me to spend over 100 hours creating little beats and song ideas. The simplicity of it is brilliant. The team behind the app clearly puts a lot of love and work into the sound packs (I’ve bought nearly all of them now). They seem to update with new packs roughly once a month which keeps the app fresh and fun. Loses a star for three things. 1) The sound packs could use more variety. You can tell just from the type of available sound packs that the developers are London-based electronic music junkies. That’s all fine and good, but this app could be *amazing* if there was more variety. Give us a pack of just solo classical piano! Give us African drumming! 2) This app consumes battery like nothing else. I’m not really sure why, but it does. I have a new iPad Pro and the battery is under 50% after one hour of using Blocs Wave. ✓ Great way to flesh out ideasI love Blocs Wave (and its companion Launchpad) - for me I use it as a way to sketch out ideas that I then export to Ableton Live (it exports a full Ableton Live project) and finesse it there. The sample packs one can purchase are slick and professional as well - or you can import your own samples. It'd be great in a future version if you'd have more pitch control over samples, or the ability to pitch slices of a sample would be monumental - rather than being locked into the samples / songs key; it would allow you to use the same sample / instrument in other song parts..Version: 12.2.2
✓ I was a sucker!! BUT NOT ANY MORE AWESOME UPDATEI have to admit. I love this update. This is starting to be a sweet app. At first I felt just like the others it was just an app to play and buy their loops. But since this last update. Wow I am impressed! I really hope that all those people who wrote negative reviews give this app the updated ones due to the huge improvements from this developer. It's one of the most fun apps ( I have the, all ) and simple interfaces I have used when it comes to chopping up samples. I haven't stopped using it for days. I even bought some of the in app purchases ( which I rarely do) Great sounds love the flexibility to make them my own. A couple of things I would like to see in the near future is the option to copy and paste one of the four bars to another. Also maybe ADSR so you have more flexibility when playing the keyboard. The quantized tin works pretty great. And stays on point. Also I would like to have the option to reverse slices and have the option to one shot and or choke certain slices. Another improvement I would like to see is when you change the scale it doesn't slow down the loops so dramatically. So better conversion. Also if you guys could get your software to read or best guess the key that my imported lOops are that would be great! Speaking of imported loops why can't I import my on through iTunes and make my own folder ? That is something that needs to be added. Saying that this is a huge update improvement and a lot of fun. ✓ Intuitive and PowerfulThis is a free app for recording, playing, and managing loops. It comes with automated key and tempo matching, which works amazingly well if one doesn't push the processing too hard. The integration with AudioBus feels seamless, but I often find that recording does not always start precisely on the downbeat. There are some no-brainer in-app purchases. The slicer is a great tool for abstracting the familiar. Importing my own audio files is a must, too. While some may find the pre-loaded tracks to be of great use, I wish could just delete them all to save space. I also wish that there was a fade-in/fade-out tool to fix recordings that start in the middle of a sound. I use it, mostly, to create ambient tracks with different parts slowly fading in and out..Version: 12.2.1
✓ Having issues on ipad proLove this app but audio but 3 is not sending audio to blocs wave. I cant get sound from any auv3 synth to record in blocs wave. I noticed in audio bus 3 is has a grey tag beside blocs wave that says “state” and “Link” . Every other daw app only says “Link” not sure whats going on but this stops me using the app. I hope it is fixed as soon as possible because I love this app. Well done with everything else though :) Thanks for your reply. Sound loop tempo control - very often a loop would sound great if I could adjust its individual tempo without changing the whole song (similar to the garage band feature) (Minor need) Sound loop detail - be cool to know if I’ve already used a specific loop one or many times already. Being able to sort by alphabetical order would mean that loops that have different versions would be next to each other. At the moment they seem to be in some random order. ✓ Worth every cent.This is an incredible app. iOS apps in general have added a new dimension of tactility to my songwriting, but Blocs Wave has revolutionized the whole approach. It’s such a time-saver. My approach to loops is, they’re okay if you make them your own, and with this app, the possibilities are endless. I don’t think I’ll ever get writer’s block again. The one thing I would suggest, as of June 2023, is to add Major key options. Even if they’re entirely new pack sets. I’m okay with buying them, because I love them. Also be sure to check out sister app Groovebox. Not as stellar, but another great weapon in the arsenal of contemporary electronic composers..Version: 13.18
✓ For all those who are foreign to music makingThis app makes it very easy to create awesome sounding beats. It’s fairly straightforward in terms of what each icon can do and how to manipulate sound. Personally I wouldn’t only use this for a final production of sound but it’s a great place to start if you are making music to later transfer to Audition or Logic. It is easy to use, the stock loops aren't cheesy like most apps, you can bounce files into your own DAW with a touch of button, and to top it off if you have writers block just hit the auto button for ideas. One more thing for iPhone users, I'm not sure if it does this for other phones but you can lock your screen while using app and still listen. I love that personally so I can review my production and critique/enjoy. ✓ Almost thereLove blocs waves just needs a little work, 1st we need Fx like flanger reverb etc. 2nd instead of just 8 track sample Windows we need 16 or more. 3rd the ability to use other apps like AudioShare. 4th a keyboard to play with the samples. 5th better editing of the samples such as being able to use a sample that was imported from AudioCopy in more then 1 song project without undoing the edits to the sample being undone once you reopen the other project songs that you previously used said sample in. ✓ I don’t get itWhy is the slicing so weird? What’s wrong with being able to set the slices exactly where you want instead of having to mess with expanding etc to try to get something close to what you want. Why can’t you trigger a slice without it continuing to the end of the sample. Its almost as if they did it on purpose for some strange reason. I give 4 stars because I am sure it’s a lot of fun for beginners to play around with. I am so not getting why it was designed to make it harder to control than it has to be. ✓ Better organization for usersI am a user of some sample packs in blocks wave. I was wondering could there be a way you guys could add the title of the sample to the file once it is transferred to another place. Recently I just got a laptop with fl studio and I plan on buying more sample packs as they come out on blocks wave. I set up my sd card for the samples naming all the files and the files in there. But the problem I’m having is when I want to use the random setting on blocks wave and I’d have to click through to find all the samples. I was just wondering could you set it so instead of the file having “ 127bpm 1-1, 127bpm 1-2” to 127 bpm, then the name of the beat..Version: 13.17

✓ This is brilliantFor me this gets me out of the '4 bar loops I like but cant make a tune'. Load up some funky sounds you've made yourself or some excellent stems in the great included packs. The developer has been listening to the advice from the AB forum and delivering great free updates. When they make a new feature I buy another pack for a quid fifty in the shop to show my appreciation. Lots of genres represented and they are good for inspiration and getting out of a creative rut. ✓ Great app, badly needs User file organizationI really wish Ampify would make an in app purchase to have a feature to create your own packs, it’s really difficult to see your files if you import a significant amount. Launchpad app has a slightly better organization system for importing your own files. ✓ Horrible!This used to be one of my favorite apps. I made so many incredible beats from the awesome sound packs. Then I lost my phone and all my music. Needless to say I was highly upset. I stoppped making music for awhile. I decided to start again to see if I could recreate my old songs. But it seems like all of the sound packs have changed and I can’t locate any of the sounds that I had before. What’s worse is it seems like the packs no longer mesh. I don’t think I’m going crazy because I’m using other apps including sister app launch pad( which I love!) and I’m able to create some really awesome beats. Please explain what the heck happened? I don’t even feel like using this app ever again and I wasted a lot of money purchasing the sound packs! I wish I could get my money back but I know that’s not gonna happen. And it seems all my past creations are gone as well. I’m so mad I don’t know what to do! Don’t waste your time or money on this app! But that’s just my opinion. ✓ Love this appFantastic app for sketching ideas, experimenting and having some fun. The built-in sounds are decent but pair this with some of your own gear and it takes it to the next level. I use it with a Novation Circuit and a midi keyboard and it's awesome. The ability to toy with samples isn't massively comprehensive but it's still entertaining and encourages creativity. The new feature which allows multiple 'tabs' of sounds really broadens the horizons for this app and I feel, bumps it up to a 5* app. The tabs (or whatever they're called) allow you to create sonic transitions or sketch out songs, building bridges and verses and experimenting with different arrangements. Overall a really well made, readily updated app that's fun to use, highly accessible and deserves a place in your collection..Version: 6.1
✓ Great Sounds..Sounds great but the system is more like a loop player only good for demoing the sound packs in series since there is no sequencer. The auto time-stretch algorithm is kinda wonky.. low quality. The sample “editor” is not an editor at all.. and the slicer system could use an update to make it more useful. ✓ Meh, its ok, sounds good thoughI’ve used this app for years, and although it sounds good, I can’t find a place for it in my pro sound musical setup. I delete it for awhile, then re download it and remember why i deleted it. It’s not a bad app, it just isn’t intuitive and doesn’t reall flow with all the pro music apps i have. I find no use for it when i integrate it into AUM, and the beats aren’t good enough to sequence…IDK. ✓ Really Fun App!Just rediscovered this app which I’ve had on my iPad for awhile. I have all three novation apps. This one and launchpad are similar as they both are sample based... but with this guy you can record into to it and create on the fly looped samples and it acts more like a multitrack recorder/looper. The slicer is cool and the eq works great. The sound packs are good and there are many to choose from. The one thing this apps needs is effects. Just a basic delay, reverb and chorus/flanger that you could apply to individual tracks. With that this app would be complete. Otherwise this app is a lot of fun and easy to use. The user interface is well laid out and the graphics look great. The sound packs are reasonably priced as well. Rock on novation and thanks for the great software!.Version: 13.8

✓ Could be a Five Star app.This App is good, but with a few added features it would be great. The EQ really needs a bypass function so you can A-B the sound. It also needs to add a Q parameter because not being able to adjust the Bandwidth is frustrating. And only 3 EQ Bands, really??? And I was really surprised to find that there isn’t a Copy and Paste function for the sliced loop bars. Lastly, adding a Pitch Parameter for each slice would really make this app Amazing. ✓ I love this app. But..This app sounds amazing and has become my secret weapon in writing songs. You have got to add something to your next update ASAP please. When switching patterns there should be two things. The ability to have a different key. AND most importantly, the option to have the switch at the end of the phrase, so the switches are smooth and you don’t have to worry about pressing for the next pattern right on the beat. This makes it choppy and not very musical sounding. A song pattern programmer would be cool too.....still giving ya 5 stars. It’s a great app. But it seriously needs those additions. ✓ Powerful and stylish, still room for improvementAs an iPhone Plus user who enjoys using portrait view music apps, this very attractive piece of software has become my main recorder of tracks from audiobus. The Iap sampling options make it easy to grab tracks off iCloud so I can chop a break over some of those recordings ,the ui just feels good to use and the focus on giving iPhone users a solid interface is much appreciated. However there are some odd limitations, which mostly seem related to the resampling algorithms used to keep tune and timestretch. This includes being unable to play samples melodically or pitch them individually. This is somewhat made up for by the awesome little randomizer in the slicer plus I think limitations are a good thing, but if there's anyway even just individual samples could be transposed this would be amazing. Or maybe even just one more band on the Eq haha. A really nice product regardless!.Version: 13.4.2

✓ Solid, Serious Music Creation AppThe idea of making music on a phone or tablet seems like it would be just for play, but I am gotten real, great songs pieced together starting here with this app. The quality and diversity of their sound packs is amazing. Being an iPhone user you would think that you won’t get anything better than garage band-but trust me, get this app, maybe the companion apps also and some sweet in app purchases for two bucks each (not required but I have probably bought 30 of the sound packs because they are so good) and you will really expand your creativity and creation ability three times over. Love how easy it is to put loops together with the sound packs you can buy in app. The loop packs are filled with really organic sounds and textures, and allow for easy manipulation within this app. Real easy to adjust pitch of sounds for the overall mix. If I had any suggestions for the developers, it would be to allow more than 8 bars for the slicing of samples. My biggest issue would be how the sounds don’t blend together as well as it should when you switch blocks, it’s not usually a smooth transition. ✓ Number one feature wishI enjoy working with Blocs Wave, it really is great for generating ideas. If I could have one wish for a new feature it would be a record function that would work while "playing" scenes. I have made many chops that just do not play back exactly the same way when exported to either Launchpad or Ableton Live as they do when I'm switching between scenes in Blocs Wave--this is because in Blocs Wave you can essentially switch between two or more scenes that are running simultaneously rather than stopping and starting the scenes on the beat as in Launchpad or Live. Would love to capture those grooves via audio inside the app and then export to DAW. A text-based manual PDF would also be helpful!
