AmpliFi WiFi for Positive User Reviews

Common SSID BROKEN (Version 1.20.1)Everything was great until my mother reset the router (not sure why she felt the need to do this in the first place without telling me… as if I wouldn’t notice…) and now Common SSID doesn’t work at all. The Toggle Button is enabled, but using the same SSID for any of the additional broadcast network (ie: 5GHz AX) throws an SSID error that states it has to be different?! The entire point of Common SSID is to have a one name network for all broadcasted bands… Surely this is just a flaw that can be fixed. The new UI is beautiful and intuitive, only other thing I can recommend is a Dark Mode… and that’s not super important..Version: 1.20.1

Most reliable router I’ve used! App actually works!I’ve had a ton of Wi-Fi systems that have apps to accompany them and AMPLIFI is by far the best when it comes to actually working and being reliable. I love being able to access my admin settings even when I’m not home thanks to remote access. I can do everything I need to do easily from this app and I can even rename my devices on the network to better identify them as well as pick their prioritization that Ubiquiti makes simple and intuitive! No complaints!.Version: 1.8.8

Love AMPLIFII recommend this router setup to all of my friends and family. This is truly one of the easiest tech setups I’ve ever experienced. The hardware is easy and this app is fantastic for both set up and ongoing support on my local network. I love it and very much appreciate the simplicity for what can be a very complicated technical area of our household..Version: 1.15.4

Great Hardware, UI Needs Some ImprovementObviously, the hardware here is excellent. As many others have noticed, my standardized speed test have improved with the amplify alien. And I appreciate a lot of the robust features within the app. But I can think of a few additions I’d like to see… (1) An offline device list. This is so helpful for troubleshooting devices that drop off. How else am I going to know what has dropped off to go try to fix it? Your competitors have this feature. Please please give this to us. (2) Notifications for devices that come online for the first time as well as devices that come back online after being off-line for N amount of time. And OMG please give us a dark mode akin to your WiFiman app. That UI is elegant. The bright interface of the AMPLIFI app gives me a headache..Version: 1.20.1

Unable to open App-problem SOLVEDI’ve been working with tech support and am still unable to open the app to manage my mesh system. HELP! I worked with someone 2 days ago and the problem is back. Currently I’ve been waiting almost 40 minutes for someone to respond to my live chat to get help... You need to fix the App! Changed rating from 1 to 4 stars. In short, you can do a lot with this App, just read the other reviews. My only complaint was the wait time to receive help (see above)..Version: 1.10.0

ConnectionReally good connection.Version: 1.17.0

New app design is STUNNINGOne of the prettiest designs for an app. Can you please add an all black dark mode that follows system dark mode on/off cycles? Can you add the ability to add individual people as clients with photos. I’m a parent and want to be able to disable a single kids Wi-Fi on this screen. Thank you for reading my request.Version: 1.20.0

Awesome router, App needs some improvements. The router is awesome… To level that I have recommended it to my friends here. The app however requires some improvements, for example when a device connects to your network, it keeps on showing the device list forever. There needs to be a way to remove device from the list. I have submitted a bunch of suggestions on the community website as well..Version: 1.13.5

Rock solidChoosing AMPLIFI has been great! Good speeds and coverage. Love the app and can limit the kids when needed..Version: 1.14.4

Shockingly SimpleLiterally took seconds to set up my Amplifi Alien, a big contrast to the Google Nest. Speed is already double what I had before..Version: 1.15.0

Alien needs a way to enable viewing screenI turn off the screen to limit the wear and tear on the screen as well as limit the light pollution. However, if there is a cable modem problem or something else with the device where my phone cannot connect to it, then there is way to bring the ui back up again. I suggest after a reboot leave the screen up to 5 minutes on so users can make changes etc. This really affects the quality of life in failure cases..Version: 1.15.4

4/5Great. Would be better if iPad was properly supported, instead of just being the iPhone app..Version: 1.8.9

Simple and easy to useReally awesome management app, great to see QoS added. Hope to see support for IPv6 in the future. Consistent updates are fantastic..Version: 1.4.0

Great replacement for Apple’s AirportsBought a set to trial and very impressed with these. Quality hardware, excellent throughput and reception backed by an easy to use yet powerful configuration utility. Oh, and you can turn the router LED off!.Version: 1.8.3

Apple Class Hardware and SoftwareI have never experienced such nice hardware and software integration outside of Apple products. Using it often put a smile on your face. From the moment you unpack, to the set up, to the super intuitive and powerful mobile app, you can feel the “care” put into the product. And btw the app is already optimized for iPhone X. I will not hesitate to recommend this company and its product. I’m deeply impressed..Version: 1.7.0

Wi-Fi mesh great for large house - app gives some detailThe app feels a bit lacking - shows devices and general status of system. It would be nice to see the topology though so I can get a feel for underperforming ap’s and see what is wrong with them. Overall they look ok but are they allowing client connections?.Version: 1.15.0

Useful little appComplements your Amplifi router exceptionally well. Using this app it’s a snap to set up and make changes to your router. It’s a straight forward layout with simple, clear options. You can pause internet on all or any devices that are connected to your WiFi and set up profiles for different usage, for example for kids devices so the internet cuts out at a certain schedule. You can also prioritize traffic to individual devices, though you only have three options: normal, gaming, and streaming. I like that you can see performance and basic statistics on WiFi connected devices but I wonder why such information isn’t available on the Ethernet ports. All in all, pretty solid!.Version: 1.8.4

ISP TestGreat router overall. Rock steady performance without the need for reboots. Need Internet testing under “Performance” tab to display greater than 100 Mbps scale to accommodate our service level of 300 Mbps. Using Ookla’s “Speedtest” app tells me I’m getting much better results through my Ampfli router than this app displays for Throughput and ISP Testing results. Also I keep sending some missing icons for several manufacturers devices that I have on my network and not one has been added. Images of these devices are readily available on the WWW for you to copy. Otherwise, why have a “Report missing icon” link on the “Set device icon” page in your app? Thanks.Version: 1.13.4

Could be greatThis is a very good app I use it most days to manage my network, I have four Amplifi HD routers and two mesh points. It gives me all the information I need, the app could be great if the performance test worked correctly, I have 1gig broadband but the test maxes out at 160mbps also it works on the iPad but only as an iPhone app..Version: 1.15.0

Data usage log per device neededLove your products and I use them at multiple locations from homes to offices. But you guys really need to capture and show detailed bandwidth usage per device so admins can see who is using what with metered internet plans. This would be a huge feature for users who are capped and have to pay overages with bandwidth limits per month. Thank you!.Version: 1.14.4

Love it, but...I absolutely love the AmpliFi WiFi system. My only complaint is that it does not offer password protection for access to the app. My iPad and phone are not completely “private” to me and other family members can access the app and modify profiles without me knowing... Please add password/ biometric protection to this app..Version: 1.14.4

Finally WiFi router done rightProbably the best WiFi router and WiFi router app I’ve used. Simple to use, fast and reliable. Would be good to see WAN (ie internet) usage split out in the usage stats both by device, profile and overall..Version: 1.7.0

Useful and reliable appBeen using AmplifiHD for a number of years and this app is great for monitoring my wifi mesh performance, as well as setting up and maintaining the network. The speed test is very useful (I picked up early a degradation in my broadband performance so could get my ISP to invstigate and restore) and the support from Ubiquiti is good and timely. This iPhone app also works well on my MBP M1 pro. Would recommend..Version: 1.24.1

Good but wish it had better reportingGreat router and has easy to use controls. Love that you can add icons to each device that helps a lot and the device pictures are very up to date. Speed is great. Vpn is nice feature. Could you please add per device WiFi stats (similar to how google home WiFi lets you see per device stats), this is really helpful to know what device has been using bandwidth in real-time, the last day, last 7 days and last 30 days (like google home WiFi has)..Version: 1.13.0

The best home WiFi value solution on the market!Nothing else I had tried has come close to delivering the consistent, high performing reliable, connection that I’ve been getting for the last 2 years!.Version: 1.15.4

Impressed!I upgraded my ISP provided modem, and my Eero wifi 5 router, to the Alien, and my internet speeds have increased by 25% and have been VERY stable. Some of this could be due to the Arris S33 modem, but since I tested the speed of my service after I replaced the modem, but before I replaced the Eero, I suspect it has more to do with the Alien. Easy to set up. Comprehensive and dare I say, even a little bit fun! Definitely recommend!.Version: 1.19.0

Going Backwards?Feels a bit like this app is going backwards. With each update recently we seem to be losing features. No more real-time traffic, no more count of connected devices, statistics are not more taps away. The UI changes are nice but it does feel like it is losing its usefulness..Version: 1.23.0

I need metricsFirst off, I love the mesh system. I have two cubes and two access points I get signals to my out buildings with zero issues. That being said, the app needs to gather and present more info. I would like the app to gather access frequency, duration , and node for all things on the wifi. If the app already does this then someone PLEASE show me where..Version: 1.14.4

Don’t install this update before router firmwareUPDATE: was able to install newest firmware version (3.4.2?) on the router and it resolved the communications problem with the app. It took a couple of times to connect to the router to get to the update screen, but eventually got back to its former great self post-firmware update. UPDATE for 1.13.4: App still unusable. Connection continues to time out. As reviewer below stated, the August update is unusable. Connection times out between the router and the app and I can’t connect to the device. Was a great app beforehand. It’s like it woke up from the update with a concussion and it’s motor reflexes are severed. Using on an iPhone 7 if that helps the developer troubleshoot the fix!.Version: 1.13.4

The Best Router !I replaced my netgear orbi like 7 months ago and this router performance is the best when you have over 20 devices connected. It supports Wifi 6 which I have two iPhones(my Dad’s and brother’s iPhone 11). The app is really amazing but I would like it to recognize other wifi devices with their Icons correctly and the ability to remove wifi devices from the router. If I had a bigger house, I would consider this wifi 6 router for mesh..Version: 1.14.1

Great systemI went from orbi to these after using some ubiquiti equipment at work. I had constant issues with orbi when updating the firmware, the main one being it losing connection to the satellite and causing me to have to factory reset them to reconnect to the main. AmpliFi solved this issue. The setup and management are a breeze and connecting and management of the different devices (I have 3 total in a mesh) are easy and consistent. I occasionally have some slow connection issues with devices but a router reboot solves these instantly. I can’t knock it for that as every non-enterprise piece of equipment I’ve ever worked with requires this regularly (and enterprise equipment requires it as well just not as often). Fantastic system and I think the best for home use you can find. Well worth it..Version: 1.15.0

Just one requestI cannot be happier with my Amplifi HD router. With a house of 3 adults and one computer gaming teenager and many weekend guests we are supporting 14 devices in this house full time with never a hiccup. One request. I’d love to be able to schedule the firmware updates. These need to be done early in the morning. Me having to remember that at 5:30 am is a lot to ask. Haha. Please!.Version: 1.6.1

Thoroughbred of WIFI RoutersSimple, streamlined and a true producer in providing whole home WiFi for your devices and your components that require a Internet connection. Wipes the floor clean compared to Netgear Nighthawk and the rest. Take my advice, spend the extra money and make the one time expense that you won’t have to make ten times over to try to achieve the same results as AMPLIFI does..Version: 1.24.3

Excellent router, better than EeroI have always used the expensive home WiFi routers. I switched to Eero for mesh and loved it, but the quality started to be an issue. After much desperation (over a year of them blaming Apple for frequent disconnects), I decided to give AmpliFi a try. Back when I purchased my last mesh router I knew of Ubiquity, and hoped they had something, but they did not. Now I am using their AmpliFi mesh and I love it. It wanting to dump another $500 on hardware, I purchased the AmpliFi instant and to my surprise, I achieve 220+ Mbps on my 200Mbps network, everywhere in my home. The idea was that after I was able to prove that my WiFi connectivity issues for all my Apple devices was resolved, I would upgrade to the HD Gamer model, but there is no need now. Not only is my WiFi reliable and solid, wish a wired backhaul my mesh network is blazing fast. As such I have penciled in the AmpliFi Alien as my next router. Great work!.Version: 1.12.2

1.24.0 broken, cannot login (update, fixed)Ever since this upgrade I’ve been locked out of the app. It just says oops something went wrong. Support says to reset my device. Seriously? Edit: contacted support and they helped me. Apparently there’s an account password, a wifi password, AND and administrator password that can all be different. I tried my WiFi password which worked. I don’t remember setting up that password, but I kept trying my ubiquiti account password which didn’t work. Very confusing, I’m glad I didn’t have to reset all my devices and reconfigure from scratch..Version: 1.24.0

Easy smart home managementWith the arrival of Gigabit to the NBN our Alien AMPLIFI router will be ideal for the next 5-7 years of WiFi connectivity. I love that you can manage paired systems and label devices so easily. You can even assign devices to members of the household. If you have kids this is great for locking down iPads or screen time. I also find the device prioritisation simple and easy to use. Have never dropped a zoom call because a huge download started on another device. It’s also very convenient when someone comes over that you can help them seamlessly join the network. You can even set them up with a temporary network. Finally, the VPN feature is a game changer for those who travel. I have set up my family across the world with the same system. Now I can teleport to their region so I can see what they see when I send links or recommend products. Even better, I can manage my less than tech savvy family members from 17000km away. Unreal. Would recommend AMPLIFI to any tech nerd who likes control and simplicity. Plus, it is easy to use if you are not so tech literate…makes it great for grandparents who have fast internet for when the kids visit..Version: 1.15.4

Something is wrongLatest update has broken something in the app it keeps refreshing and not loading settings or clients.Version: 1.24.0

The best there is. Awesome.By far the best. Simple to use, setup and awesome performance. I am absolutely a happy customer. The teleport feature is out of the world. 7 stars..Version: 1.12.3

Great app. This is a very great app. It is easy to get around through the app and clear on all the options it has to offer. It is very organized. Just two things I would like to see in the future updates: clear the ISP test history option and delete clients that are no longer using the WiFi. Overall this app is great but I think these two suggestions would help keep the app more organized..Version: 1.12.4

App ShortcomingsI agree with socrates99 from a year ago. Not having an AMPLIFI app specifically for iPad is a disappointment, but hey, how about just enabling landscape mode for the current version. I don’t have biggest screen iPhone 11 Max or 12.9” iPad Pro to look at everything in portrait mode. C’mon, Ubi! I’ll rate 5 stars when landscape mode is enabled. BTW, the AMPLIFI Mesh router is easily the best I’ve ever used and I’ve been doing PC and Apple products since the early 1980’s. I was a mfg rep and distributor of 1st gen connectivity devices including 300 baud dial-up modems, so I know of what I speak. (Yes, kids, the first modems were 300 baud! Don’t know what baud means, LOL, GTS!)..Version: 1.13.0

A great product / simply works! We install a lot of these, and they are great! but we have several clients where we have installed 7-10 additional antennas... the app doesn’t do a great job of displaying which antennas are connecting to which... signal strength is displayed when you look at each antenna, but a good “map” or layout would be better and GREATLY appreciated!! love the product, but a layout would be hugely appreciated... little dots just don’t cut it..Version: 1.24.3

A tier above the rest. Our house has sheetrock lined with metal rods creating a faraday cage effect. For years parts of the house had either unreliable internet or had the headache of managing two AP. This is all gone! I have two alien mesh routers and the entire house has incredible coverage and the transition between ap is completely seamless. Ever since I switched I stopped thinking about my wifi which is a testiment to the fact that this just works. The iphone app is great; I have yet to try it on iPad..Version: 1.13.5

Resume and pause internetHello there. I like the app except after the update, the pause and resume internet feature next to the devices is gone. Now, I have to navigate to each device to set pause and/or resume internet. It is troublesome! Please put that feature next to the device on the top layer in the clients tab. Thank you..Version: 1.23.0

Great app!The Amplifi app is a great app to manage your wireless settings. I particularly like the fact you can quickly see which devices are utilising the most bandwidth and how easy it is to create your own additional SSID’s either on the router or on the access points. What would be good to have is to customise which access points you can set as the main network (I.e. Set the main router and one access point as the main network and then set the router and the second access point as a separate one, as currently whatever access point you plug into the wall gets recognised by the primary router)..Version: 1.8.4

App & account issuesI’ve had my Alien router for a couple years now. It is excellent and speedy in most circumstances, although being tech enough for settings is challenging. The App also generally works ok. My problem is and has long been that Ubiquity says I have no account with them, thus not able to adjust password or seek assistance. When I hear of the issues others have with WiFi I feel fortunate to have the Alien..Version: 1.23.0

AMPLIFI AlienI previously had the AMPLIFI HD. So many devices were added over the years that I needed more bandwidth and more coverage. I bought the mesh system and added a stand alone router to add to the mesh for a rather large home. Perfect in-home coverage with NO drops. I am awaiting the arrival of one more router to act as a mesh point to add to our pool house for extended coverage and happy faces! Expensive but WELL worth it!.Version: 1.20.1

Perfect!Amplifi HD is the best mesh router I’ve ever used, hands down. It’s super easy to setup and manage. The family feature allows me to disable and set active times for my kids. When guest come over it’s really easy to share the guest network. Only problem I have is relying on social media authentication for management, I have a Ubiquiti account, why can’t I use that to sign in? A plus would be to support Apple Sign-On when it launches..Version: 1.10.0

Best thing I've ever purchasedWorks perfectly everytime.Version: 1.17.0

Teleport integrationDo you advise that we remove the stand alone Teleport app now that the main app includes this feature?.Version: 1.24.3

PLEASE ADD DARK MODE!I’m a HUGE advocate for AMPLIFI. I’ve sold literally 10 friends on it, it is the best router and von ever. Coming from a Time capsule which was also user friendly, but complete garbage. V What is THE BEST modem you can recommend. I currently have an arid provided by my cable provider but I’d rather have something compatible that I can control. Training and development in the software m industry with a major company. Would love to promote train for u guys. If you can’t stand behind the products you sell you’re in the wrong industry My only complaint is no dark mode and the help section. Could use some broader responses. Ie : examples of port forwarding and the ability to block certain sites..Version: 1.11.1

Perfect but I need moreEverything is perfect but if I can check download and upload data usage of individual device using my wifi that would be great.Version: 1.5.1

Beat router appOut of many different brands of routers, I found this one to be the easiest to understand, cleanest, and most reliable Most recent update: Is there still a way to see “up time” anywhere? Seems like they removed it.Version: 1.18.2

Exceeded my ExpectationsA reoccurring visitor kept mentioning I needed a more stable and consistent WiFi. After finally offering to install AMPLIFI himself for free, I agreed and couldn’t be more pleased with the improvements I wasn’t even expecting. I haven’t had to restart my router in probably two years. Uptime and performance has been solid..Version: 1.15.4
